Kai huffed a laugh at Sumika's overwhelming lack of faith in his plan. He'd take it to heart, but she only bothered criticizing because she cared, he was sure of it. It was hard for him to take his eyes off her as she moved because she did so in a way that was filled with a pointed carelessness, like she wanted everyone to think things were easy for her despite how well thought-out her moves seemed to be. His observations were only interrupted with her cussing. "Language," he instinctively chided, because being a super cool squad leader and a super awesome rapper didn't make him any less of an academy teacher.
He waited for the dog man to be chained up by Sumika's technique before he tried adding to it, desperately wanting to keep the mutt slowed down so they could outlast this period of time where the kemono shinzo was immune to a lot of detrimental effects. His stance became more informal as he started clapping on beat to begin his performance, channeling his rapper K-Pow persona. "Ya'll don't really want it now (BOOM!) / He really think he gutter / When he know he soft as butter / He ain't never been a fighter / You can go and ask his mother / I'm a lover and a fighter, producer and a writer." On the (Boom), his applause generated a thunder crack that blew the dog man backwards, followed with a spiral of raiton chakra that twisted outward from Kai's words to shock the dog man in his restraints [ Thunderous Applause [ Ikadzuchi ] | Rank A / Tornado Lightning [ Toruneedo Raitoningu ] | Rank A ]. The feral thing visibly shook under the effects of the raiton, the frostbitten restraints, and even Kai's earlier dose of poison which had begun to generate orange bulbous growths around the creature's body, but it wasn't slowing down. The beast worked at clawing the chains away and biting at them, and it seemed Sumika was going to be proven right.
He really didn't want it all to be for nothing, but his desire to be a good squad leader was greater than his ego. His voice was soft as he dropped the rapper bravado. "I don't know how to force it out of the primal state," Kai confessed. "It feels like we're just going to have to outlast it at this point unless you know how to get it to switch back to a dog or human form." As if on cue, the dog man broke free of the hefty restraints again, although it did visually seem rather rugged from all of Kai and Sumika's assault. It didn't move much slower than it had before, charging at Kai and then Sumika with the same uninspired and animalistic attacks as before [ Pressure Palm | S+ x2 ]. Kai responded to the claw coming his way with a body flicker, appearing behind the dog man and where his windmill shuriken from before had been thrown to the ground [ Body Flicker | E ]. He retrieved the shuriken, mind still processing how to shake the beast from his primal reversion.
{Miki&Himitsu}
Miki's quick explosive tag deflection caught a goon with his metaphorical pants down; he was blown to the back wall, where he quickly crumpled to the ground with nothing more than a groan. The one who'd thrown the tag was immediately dispatched by her combat, arms cut to ribbons. As many of the goons outside her wooden wall fell to her bayonetta strike, some men from within the wall had successfully broken it down enough to start getting out of there. They clamored, cussing at the kunoichi that had trapped them. "Get the twerp!" One of them cried, about six men charging right at Miki with a range of katana and nunchaku [ Basic Combat Strike | C x6 ].
Himitsu would get to see a few men attack his lightning clone immediately after leaving the wall, two of them comedically shocked before falling to the ground and twitching. His wind shuriken would hit a third man in the forehead, knocking him backwards into a goon trying to charge at Himitsu and pushing them to the ground. In short, the men in this cave were very misguided and poorly coordinated.
Hell, even Cobalt's attacker with squeak from the chidori before falling to the ground and twitching uselessly. It was almost underwhelming save for the small challenge posed by the sheer number of them.
Until the yapping dogs in the back of the room both barked in unison, and the seals on the wall glowed brighter than ever before [ T2 Blindness Inflicted in the cave & Jamming Released from the entire topic ]. Then, the brightness ceased, though the seals still glowed an ambient red and would leave the room lit enough for regular vision for anyone who was not blinded. The dogs would also transform into half-dog beasts. "It seems they're here to disrupt our plans," the darker-colored dog beast said.
Her lighter-colored companion growled in response. "Why, dear sister, it does seem that way, doesn't it?" The lighter colored dog roared, and rocks fell through the entrance of their cave, trapping everyone inside [ Unnamed Doton Technique ]. "Outsiders," he snarled distastefully before charging directly at Himitsu with a huge claw [ Basic Combat Strike | S ]. The darker-colored dog, in hopes of distracting the ninjutsu-capable panda from helping the male shinobi, made a similar move at him [ Basic Combat Strike | S ]. -

"Umm. I'll try!" Was the best response Miki could muster to Himitsu as she found several of the men charging toward her. The setting felt familiar to her. It was just like all of those bandits she fought at her father's lumber mill. They always showed up with numbers, but her family taught her to beat them with skill. "Hey! Who're you calling twerp?!" The girl quickly sheathed her katana as the men came in closer. Once they were within striking distance, the girl produced a swirling chakra that quickly spread over her entire body. As the men made their strikes, they would find their weapons were stopped by the swirling mass of chakra that now layered Miki like armor. [ Tsunami Striking - B Rank Complex ] Miki took a deep breath before lashing out at the men in a variety of kicks and punches, five in total. [ Downpour - B rank Simple ] The strikes seemed somewhat random, but Miki intentionally left the one who called her a brat. Without a word the woman ran at the man before jumping. Once it seemed they would collide the girl would head butt him as hard as she possibly could. [ Cranial Havoc - B Rank Simple ] Miki rolled into a tumble before landing on her hands and feet. She smiled as she moved back into a standing position, clapping her hands together to get the dirt off. "Call me a twerp." Would be all she'd say to herself.
This was around the time that she noticed the dogs in the back. It was the unison bark that brought her attention onto them. Before Miki had the chance to do anything, the walls suddenly became unbearably harsh light. A light so harsh that it stripped Miki's vision from her out right. "Ah! What the hell?!" She yelled out, her hands rushing to her eyes to immediately begin rubbing them. 'What did they do to my eyes?' Miki continued to rub at her eyes, hoping that perhaps there was just something in them. A distinctive voice was heard, one that hadn't bene heard yet in the mass of combat, but then came the crashing of the cave being closed in. "This can't be good Himitsu! I can't see!" The girl called out, quickly pulling her katana. "Cobalt! Himitsu! Come to my voice!" She called out almost desperately as she tried to figure out someway to gain handle on this situation.

Sumika's annoyance was escalating, as evidenced by the intensity of the eye roll produced by her emerald green eyes as Kai rapped his way to an equally useless display of elemental prowess. She had hoped her extra exertion would produce more than just a more pissed off rabid dog man but Kai's plan was as ineffective as her own ninjutsu. Clearly playing around with this creature wasn't going to yield results. She could do it all day, and no matter what she slapped it with, it'd keep coming. She'd bound it twice and turned it into a pin cushion to little effect. At best her most proficient skill set was an annoyance. Fine. If this was going to get rough, she'd get rough.
Appearing once again too casual, Sumika relaxed, her puppet Sumiko stepping up next to her at the behest of a hand that looked as if Sumika was simply casually examining her short, green nails while the beast swiped at Kai. As the dog bared down on her once more and the puppeteer's hand extended as if to get a better view of the nails from a distance. Accompanying the motion was one word: "Sit." For a moment it appeared as if nothing was going to happen, and then Sumiko, mouth still ajar from the prior insult, repeated the word. The cavern exploded into ear splitting sound, more than loud enough for the other two members of the squad and anyone else in the caves to hear. Only Sumika would be spared ringing ears from those in the vicinity, although the young Uchiha would escape any significant damage thanks to her earlier shift in positioning. The same could not be said for their opponent, who would be met by a focused beam of sound capable of driving them into the stone walls that surrounded them.
"b***h." The woman repeated, glancing past her hand to Kai momentarily, Sumiko repeating this back at a more normal volume as it had before. A handseal sought to take advantage of the space, and the Kemono Shenzo would experience a slightly altered version of one of the few genjutsu Sumika bothered to get to know better. A wave of iron sand to fill in the rocky tomb, or so it would seem. Behind Sumika the puppet's mouth snapped shut. "Gonna be honest, think mine had a bit more oomph ya know." She said, gesturing with a little faux punch as she said oomph. "Also, steal a better verse next time."
[ Cobalt ] Elsewhere in the cave Cobalt, still capable of using his other senses, responded to the second underwhelming attack in a row this time with relative boredom of a large swipe. A basketball sized paw swatted the unceremonious strike away, not needing to get particularly close to do so, before the large panda simply employed his momentum in an attempt to smother his attacker under a quarter ton of dead weight. His ears twitched slightly at the sound of a familiar, all be it distorted, voice echoed through gaps in the doton-based cave in. All in all it wasn't a terribly... inspired response, but then... Cobalt wasn't a terribly inspired animal in the absence of his tamer or some tasty treats. If he could sit his big a** down for a nap on top of one of these yappy little dogs and achieve the same result, he would. That said, he did employ a little extra help in that category as he attempted the grapple, more raiton chakra applied to one of his paws as he sought to make the heft he applied a little more effective via the Electric Overdose technique.

A pair of microphones pick up sounds much like ears might, transitioning them into a signal that is then reproduced through a conical speaker. The result is a tightly directed shockwave of sound, capable of causing significant damage through raw force in a tight cone. The range of this technique is compound in its area of effect, hitting anyone within 10ft of 180 degree arc in front of the speaker and projecting a cone that grows to 15ft in size up to 100ft away. Activating the mechanism causes it to remain active for an upkeep cost a rank lower than it was activated at, and will produce sound independently provided more sound was made by other actors in the area that could reasonably be considered to have been picked up by it. Oddly, this mechanism is also capable of producing the volumes that one might expect from a normal PA speaker for nominal amounts of chakra, but nothing in between, calling into question its creator’s fundamental grasp of the physics involved. Himitsu watched the fumbling morons around him drop several at a time, doing more damage to each other than Himitsu did. He wasn't surprised to watch Miki continue to rip them to shreds, but it didn't make her skills any less impressive. As the boy began preparing his chakra to drop a few more, the room suddenly exploded with light. His hands instinctively flew to his face to shield them, but it was far too late. He groaned in pain briefly as he doubled over. After a second he regained his sense mentally, but his panic started to rise slightly as he realized his literal sense hadn't been regained. The boy's breathing sped up as it set in. The ear-shattering roar and shaking of the ground didn't help. Miki's subsequent shouts did.
His teammate gave him a goal he could manage right now. Listen. Himitsu closed his now useless eyes, and got his breathing under control. He concentrated [Concentration | Rank S | Spiritual] on the sounds around him, and quickly honed in on rapidly approaching... paws? Whatever was coming was moving fast, which ruled out Cobalt and didn't leave a lot of friendly options. When the creature was within a few feet of him, Himitsu clumsily rolled [Basic Dodge | Rank S | Simple] to the side, trying not to injure himself on any loose debris from the cave-in.
When he regained his footing, he began backing his way toward Miki's voice. After a couple steps he drew a senbon from his pouch and held it in his fingers as he molded chakra around it. Once completed, he through the weapon into the ground in front of him, placing a [Propelling Winds [ Suiyaku Kaze ] | Rank D] trap on the ground with the weapon at the center. With his heart racing and his ear practically twitching at every sound, he continued his cautious backtracking toward Miki. "I hope Cobalt is okay..."

Kai flinched as the puppet dropped a soundwave, but he quickly recovered and looked over at Sumika questioningly when she made a handseal and he saw nothing happen. The beast man reacted terribly to the effects of whatever Sumika had done, swatting at nothing with his claws. "Ahhh," Kai said as the epiphany hit him. Genjutsu, that was a good idea. The beast man growled as its form began to shift, bones visibly moving under the ratty mane until it stood upright as something human. "I wish I'd thought of that," he murmured under his breath as he readied himself into a defensive stance for the man's future attacks. However, it seemed to be a moot point, as the man's skin was orange and filled with bulbous growths, and some of his bones didn't seem to settle in correctly, and it all came rushing back to Kai: the trauma and poison was finally kicking in full-force.
The man was, in medical terms, completely ******** up. So when he opened his mouth like he was going to speak to the two shinobi, but collapsed face-first to the ground instead, Kai only reacted with a moderate lift of his eyebrows. When it seemed clear that the man wasn't going to move again, he gave her two thumbs up. "Good thinking!" He pulled a scroll from his belt loop and let it partially fall open to reveal a seal. He expelled some chakra, which activated the seal and reverse-summoned the kemono shinzo somewhere into KPD custody. He re-rolled the used scroll and replaced it on his belt loop. "Y'know, I think you real-"
His compliment was interrupted by the sound of rocks falling, somewhere down the way where Himitsu, Cobalt, and Miki were if Kai's instincts were correct. His lightheartedness was immediately replaced by his return to sensei mode. "We need to go."
He travelled back up through the winding tunnel until he found the entrance to the other fork in the path, which was collapsed with a rock slide. He clapped his right hand over his left arm's inner elbow as chakra surged in his left palm, creating a chidori to blast through the rock entrance [ Chidori | Rank A ]. He then took two steps inside, seeing a whole mess of goons and dogs and his team. "Hey guys! Glad you're still kickin'," he said as he assessed the battlefield.

Miki's artful physical arts were coming in handy - she was dispatching goons left and right. She would end up standing in a circle around unconscious goons, giving her an opportunity to deal with the dog creatures.
Fortunately, Cobalt was quick to handle his own pursuers, and the added raiton caused the sister kemono shinzo to yelp as she went down under his grapple. She fought against his hold but the electric overdose made her limbs unresponsive, and the dogs' doton nature made it hard to fight against. "I'll tear your throat out," the darker-colored dog beast said growled from underneath Cobalt. She barked, creating a clone of herself just a few feet from Cobalt [ Shadow Clone | Rank A ]. Then, she substituted with the clone so it could take her place against Cobalt [ Substitution | Rank D ]. The clone couldn't get her limbs to cooperate, but she could certainly bite at the panda [ Basic Combat Strike: Bite | S Rank | Simple ].
She was oblivious to the two newcomers, Sumika and Kai, so she charged at Miki instead, bringing a huge claw down to strike the kunoichi [ Severing Nerve | Rank B | Complex ].
Her lighter-colored brother nearly ran into the wall at Himitsu's dodge, though his fast reflections allowed him to catch himself. His body moved faster than his mind, however, and he charged at Himitsu again only to fall for the propelling wind trap. He was instantly thrown into the ceiling of the room before he fell down again in front of Himitsu. "You stupid meddling brat!" He created a clone of himself with a bark and let the clone bite at Himitsu [ Shadow Clone | Rank A / Basic Combat Strike: Bite | Rank A | Simple ].
Meanwhile, the real beast turned around and saw that his rock slide had been undone. "There's more brats, sis!" He looked ready to attack the two of them, but something gave him pause. His head twitched to the side curiously before an incredulity overtook his expression. "Where's Kujo? What the hell?"
"Kujo? What?" Kai's brows furrowed, though a lightbulb went on over his head after a moment. He slammed a fist into his open palm as it hit him. "Aha! You guys are all fighting weird 'cuz you can't see." He nodded to himself as he cupped his own chin, congratulating his own detective skills internally as he ignored the dog in front of him in favor for addressing the weird flinching Himitsu and Miki were doing. Being blinded really didn't leave Miki with many means to defend herself. It wasn't a condition she was really familiar with given her life time of being able to see. The state left her questioning which action to take next. From the sound of things, Cobalt seemed to be doing well in the fight as well as Himitsu. Miki wished she could help them in someway, but there was really no chance. There was only one option left. The girl gestured toward the ground with a single hand before bringing it straight up, stopping in front of her chest. Once her hand finished moving a flower bloomed around her that quickly brought her under ground. The flower than brought her to the outside of the room where she remained under ground. [ Wood Release: Militant Flower Defense [ Mokuton: Sentō Hana no Bōei - C Rank ]'What do I do? What do I do? What do I do?' Miki repeated to herself over and over again, hoping that she could figure out a means of getting rid of the blindness. Little did she know how narrowly she had avoided the claws of one of the creatures.
Another moment of luck seemed to happen as Miki's eye sight became restored not long after she had gone under ground. The flower sprouted once again, bringing Miki to the surface once again to find Kai and Sumika had come to their rescue. Once the girl realized that Kai and Sumika were both watching, she knew it was her opportunity to show she was a capable shinobi to her teammates. It was time to use her patented trapping technique. Miki's eyes moved onto the beast man who called Kai and Sumika brats. The girl's stance broadened before she drew her katana, slashing it along the ground toward the beast. Directly below the beast a sinkhole would begin to appear, pulling in the ground ground around him, ten feet in each direction. If the user is near a large body of water created by a technique, this technique can sustain itself by absorbing that chakra cost instead of paying an upkeep cost of two ranks below the rank this technique was used at every post.
The puppeteer did not move with quite the same urgency as her young Uchiha counterpart, taking time to settle herself and reseal the puppet she'd summoned. If the others up above had not died yet, and it did not seem like they had died based on her now freed sensory abilities, then they didn’t need the both of them. Cobalt, meanwhile, didn’t need to wait on Kai’s assistance, considering how easy it was to find his opponent. A single claw glowed and dug its way into the side of the clone, distributing more than enough Raiton chakra to destroy it. In fact, the panda expressed little more than a yawn and a few big blinks at the return of his sight, before hefting himself back to his feet and going to nudge Sumika in the side with his snout. “Yeah, yeah. You’ll get your bamboo, chill for a minute and don’t embarass me.”

Himitsu's eyes instinctively opened and darted toward the small explosion where he thought the entrance had been. A wave of relief washed over him as Kai's voice rang out. The sounds of whoosh-ing air brought his attention back to the immediate fight. The thumping sounds of a body hitting something twice made him grin slightly as he formed handsigns, creating a [Wind Explosion [ Kaze ] | Rank D] in preparation to toss when it next charged. What he hadn't accounted for was the clone that was now coming at him from a different angle. He heard the clone far too late to make a safe assessment and knew it. Unsure whether he could throw his jutsu and still have time to dodge if he missed, Himitsu ducked low to control his next movements, and tossed the ball at his feet in attempt to knock his attack and himself in different directions.
When the ball hit the ground, Himitsu felt a slight but immediate tick of regret. Ducking had at least prevented him from flying through the air, but that just meant he went tumbling over the hard floor instead. When his momentum finally decreased, he managed to roll himself around to his feet, and slide the remaining few yards on his feet. He stood there and caught his breath, noting the odd rumbling coming from where he assumed Miki to have been and listening to Kai's comments about the weird fighting. "You know, up until NOW I thought that was going pretty well..." The grit on his forearms made him reconsider. A moment later he heard Kai continue, but echoing in his head instead of the cave. When the music stopped, so did the dull aching in Himitsu's eyes. He rubbed them briefly then blinked a few times, repeating the process until his vision was completely clear again.
Miki erupting from the ground and sinking a... werewolf?... into the ground. He noticed the other one nearby being smacked around and begin to put things together. "Are those the dogs? Are the dogs in charged? If the dogs are in charge, is this even illegal? Is it only illegal because of the gambling? This is... bizarre." Himitsu thought to himself as he molded chakra and made hand signs to create [Wind Clone [ Kaze Bunshin ] | Rank E] with a [Wind Explosion [ Kaze ] | Rank D] within it. When summoned, the clone took a few steps to the side, and turned slightly to watch the the original's side. The pair then waited for whatever came next.
Techniques Used: ▰ Wind Explosion [ Kaze ] | Rank D [-5 Chakra] The user gathers fuuton element chakra into a swirling ball that is invisible to any who cannot sense chakra. The darker-colored dog yelped as she ran snout-first into Miki's mokuton defense. Her head spun as Miki moved out of the defense and attacked the beast coming for Sumika and Kai, sinking into the ground as he earned a face full of iron sand. The clone underneath Cobalt dispersed from his attack. And all the goons were incapacitated in some form or another, though a few were conscious enough to groan and complain from their injuries.
"Yahoo!" Kai celebrated as he tossed a fist into the air. All in all, his first mission leading a full squad was a success. "I know this whole thing didn't pan out the way we expected since it seems like these kemono shinzo have been running a dog fighting ring scam and throwing fights with each other to make money... but we technically broke it up. So that's a W, if I do say so myself." He pulled a different scroll then before and opened it to reveal a seal. He expended chakra to communicate via calligraphy on its counterpart scroll, and hummed as he read the calligraphy that appeared on the scroll in response.
"Okay, kiddos," he said warmly as he wrapped it back up. "KPD has confirmed that they've got a clean-up crew coming to bag these guys and ask some questions. This dog fighting ring has ties to the underground elements in Konoha, but all information pointed to these guys being the source of it, so we had to take out the head of the operation first." The beasts were either grounded or nauseated, so it was safe to say they would be sticking around.
"I've got a hot date with a ramen stand back home, so let's not waste any time in our return, eh?" He then retraced the path out of the cave, though it was a little more precarious with all the rocks knocked loose from the combat.

Around the entrance of the mining town, the team would be able to see the spot where they'd left the first man they'd found, but it'd be vacant. The bindings bore claw marks, and there was a tuft of mangy fur on the ground. Broken bramble revealed the path of the escaped man, but there wasn't much the team could do about it now. "That's not good," he commented lowly. "Looks like we made some work for JUEI."
He tied his headband back on and led the way to Konoha, unless stopped.

Miki was rather excited that her signature trapping technique had gone off without a hitch for the second time now. The first time being on one of those dirty jashinists. The girl was even more excited for her first official village mission being a success. It was a certainly a surprising one at that with it turning out to be some sort of scam. "We did it! Good job guys!" She said with a smile as she followed Kai out of the cave and back to the front of the town.
"Oh no he escaped?" Miki said as she looked over the bindings that had been torn to shreds by some sort of claw marks. It seemed he was another Kemono Shinzo. "Damn... I wish we could have got him." Miki was a little disappointed. Though she supposed that the higher ranking shinobi would be able to track down a guy like that pretty easily. Especially after they got here to begin taking the other criminals. Miki sighed as she put her headband on and followed Kai back to konoha.

Himitsu stood with his guard up as he watched the various remaining combatants get beaten down. After a moment, the only sounds left in the cave were the groans of injured thugs scattered throughout the rubble. With no remaining threats around, Himitsu relaxed his body with a deep breath outward and safely released his wind-trapped clone. Kai's confirmation of a separate clean-up crew being on the way was another relief. His didn't even need to worry about transporting these guys. He smiled as the team climbed through the rubble-covered exit, finally on their way back to fresh air.

The apparent escape of their original enemy dampened his mood a bit, but it didn't weigh on him too much. Especially when Kai mentioned the JUEI taking care of it. "If we could take three down while half of us were blinded, I'm sure the JUEI can take care of it in no time." He let his thoughts wander on the JUEI for a while as he followed behind Kai and Miki on their way home. "I wonder what I'd need to do to get recruited Hopefully this mission is a good start toward it... I'll definitely need to learn summoning. Maybe learning more Lightning Release would help too." Himitsu would spend most of the trip home quietly wrapped in his thoughts.

"Pfft, guess it still fits the definition of a dog fi- Did you just call me kiddo?" Sumika asked a look of indignation on her face as the orb of iron sand dismissed itself and flowed back into her cloak. She glanced at Kai as he attempted to wander away. "I'm like a decade older than you. You know, I woulda offered to pick up the tab, but you promised me drinks and I'm sober as a saint, plus kiddos don't pay for their elders." She said with a shrug as Cobalt wandered over and barely missed a beat as Sumika scrambled onto his back. "I got some cargo to check on. Maybe the JUEI will actually be busy enough with this nonsense to not steal half of it." All in all Sumika was relatively pleased with the outcome of the little adventure, even if she'd be harder to sell on this squad life than probably anyone else in the village. It didn't really rate on the scale of challenging for her, but it at least had an interesting outcome. Even with her considerable resources, sitting around the village got kinda boring. The highlight was normally giving one of Sadayo's goons the slip, and she could chill in the hotsprings, but a wealth of activities Konoha was not - especially when you had the shortest straw.
