It took Noska a bit to figure out where meats to offer the hatchlings could be obtained, and in the process she undoubtedly upset several of the more patient folks also hoping to Impress a flit. However, once she'd acquired the necessary supplies, the young rider finally settled into what seemed to her the likeliest remaining spot on the sand and stared fixedly at the unhatched eggs, doing her very best not to become distracted by the other human beings nearby or the dragons keeping to the background.
Ooh! Look at that green! Feslengenth exclaimed, watching as best she could through Noska's perceptions. She's lovely, don't you think?
Of course, Noska agreed as the green Impressed to a different young woman and a brown Impressed to another. I think maybe me talking to you might be putting them off, though. They may not think I'm open to further Impressions.
Fes harrumphed, but contented herself with watching the goings-on through Noska's perceptions, not nearly as excited as her rider, but still plenty entertained by the little 'lizards' antics, particularly a pair that had gotten into an altercation almost immediately upon hatching, as if they had personalities as well-developed as dragons (which she knew to be patently ridiculous). And then the brown brawler was zipping toward her and clinging to her.
Noska! she called as gently as she could while simultaneously doing her very best not to move a muscle. Bring food!
While Noska made her way back to her dragon, Fes kept up a running babble of happy thoughts and promises that food really was on its way until Noska arrived with the promised meat. From there, everyone knew their accepted role: the hatchling gorged, Noska stroked it gently and murmured soft sillinesses, and Fes reinforced her rider's verbalizing with feelings of warmth and welcome.
"What's your name, little one?" Noska crooned as the brown seemed to be slowing down.
They don't know their own names, Fes reminded her human. You'll have to give him one.
"I know that," the young woman replied. "I was just making conversation."
Fes snorted at that. They don't converse, either.
"You're trying to annoy me, but it won't work," Noska replied, her voice still sing-song so as not to disturb the brown, whose sleepiness was creeping into their nascent bond. "I'm far too happy to be annoyed by you being pedantic."
Well, Fes allowed. He is not unappealing to look at, at least. What will you call him?
"I don't know," Noska answered. "It'll have to be something heroic and wonderful though."

“Starfire...” It was a lovely name, but when she offered it to the green, it seemed more interested in her own name. At least in the vehicle of the mind, it was easy to explain that in images: her mother, whispers, shadows of paranoia. Stormy tried to keep it light, afraid of scaring the flit Between with too much, but it grew more and more curious. Why choose fire when there were Storms and Tempests...Yes, now it would be a friend of storms, so it seemed right to give it a name fitting that.
“I love it,” she told Keleres with an apologetic smile. “But I think she likes Starstorm better.”
The green trilled again, curling its tail around Stormy’s fingers with loving eyes.
Both seemed to turn as one when they saw the intruder. Starstorm cocked her head curiously—new! new!!—and chirped a greeting from the safety of her perch. Stormy felt a little better knowing Keleres still got a flit, whatever she said about Starstorm’s appearance. (It was never happenstance. It was always theft of good fortune from someone else.) That it was a darker blue made her feel a pang of nostalgia. Tempest’s blue Eluveth had been similar.
“Hello~” she said softly the the new flit. Catching Keleres’ silent plea, she tried to think. “Stardust sounds really pretty,” Stormy offered with a little smile, as she couldn’t think of anything creative. It was almost like a mark of the moment between two strangers and their falling (pouncing) stars. Storybook. Though it was probably wishful thinking.
She glanced towards the clutches of eggs, surprised see that a third clutch had surfaced. Just how many were there...? “Almost enough for everyone here,” she noted. Maybe they’d dig and find a fourth clutch, a fifth.

A few of the last-to-appear flits were still about, but were quickly getting nabbed by folks who hadn’t yet Impressed a baby. This one was super slippery, though, dodging the scary Big Things as if its life depended on it. It wanted the food, but fear was winning out. At last, it came upon food that wasn’t moving, so still and non-threatening! Slowly, it crept up on the meatroll and took an experimental bite, quickly backing up just in case. But nothing happened, so it took another bite. Gradually, it became aware of the friendly face that loomed up above the food it ate—and the mind! Looks like Nalacko just Impressed herself a cute little lizard!

P'tius and brown Lennoth
When the little green clambered up his leg, P'tius let out a surprised sound, but stayed put. "Well hello there, little one..." He offered the food to her, unable to keep from smiling as she hungrily took it. When she soon found his hand empty, she let out a kreel, looking for more. "Okay, okay, give me one moment..."
You don't fear her claws like you do a dragon hatchling's.
"Yes, that's because baby dragons are far larger than baby firelizards." Digging in his bag, P'tius soon produced some more food morsels, which the little flit quickly ate. Her eyes went from the angry red full of hunger to a more content green and blue. She blinked, settling into the tall man's arm crook, nuzzling in for some sleep. Now, now she was just ready for a nap! P'tius chuckled, petting her. "What to call you... I've never had to name something before." He looked up at Lennoth, "Dragons know their names, at least."
Lennoth let out an amused hum, then looked up. The others are leaving, I think all of the hatchlings that will Impress have Impressed. He turned and looked back at P'tius and the baby firelizard. Perhaps it would be best to decide on a name back at home, where you can make sure she doesn't go long without food.
P'tius nodded, carefully climbing back up onto Lennoth's back. As he settled and the dragon took flight, he held the baby flit close. "I'll figure your name out soon enough, little one."
