Kaito was resigned to his fate, distantly accepting his just death... when the man was dispatched. When, in fact, many of the army was dispatched through the quick reaction of a man that Kaito had never met before. He had impressive stature and carried himself assuredly, though his words made it through Kaito's head like swimming through pudding. He squinted as he tried to make the words into ideas in his mind, only vaguely capturing that this tragedy was the duty of a shinobi like him.

It made his lip curl. His fingers twitched. He wanted to drop his whip and other weapons and forget his jutsu. He wanted his fingers to never obey him again. He needed to atone. He hadn't prayed in a while, and how was he going to break the news to his mother that he was a murderer?

He heard Maeko speak in his defense and then ravage the mindless beasts that came their way. Still, it was nearly impossible to get his mouth to move. He had never felt this hollow before. A boy born of light and flowers, and he had now become a man of blood and darkness. He wanted to crawl into the shadows he had created for himself and die there with the corpses left in his wake.

He looked to Senran with a look that was as intense as it was void of emotion. "W-what... what do we do now?" How could he come back from this? His mind was sluggish, but coming back online as the pain in his arm brought adrenaline and pain to fight the shock. "W-who's that?" He narrowed his eyes at the commander, but the Kogarashi soldier's words had gone in one ear and out the other of the shaken Kaito.

He'd say floating above them still his eyes affixed to the commander who seemed to be shouting and making proclamations. The 'false ones' he'd see fading to ashes...as they deserved to be. "Now, my sweet summer child. You finish what you started." Without diverting his gaze Senran would move his arm and palm in Kaito and Maeko's direction. His hands moved with a profound if not elegant speed spelling the Kanji for 'Revitalizing' the word would glow as the wound on Kaito's arm would begin to close as grievous as it was, it was nothing to one such as Senran, a man that dabbled in all forms of chakra manipulation. "or you run with your tails between your legs like them." The eloquent and mysterious man would say pointing to the men being chased. "Either or, there is no joy found in challenging those who've lost the will to express their desires in full. At least to someone such as I." He'd have both his arms take a dismissive fashion. The kanji vanished.

"As such. Do make your decisions quickly mhmm hmm hmm." Senran would say as he started slowly ascending higher. "They don't seem to have any interest in waiting too long." The man ascended to a point where he was at least 10 body heights above the duo. The two beasts would attack Maeko and Katio unimpeded by the man. Had they thought him their ally? Their superior? Neither was the case. This was a flight of fancy for him and truly now that Kaito had taken life he was impure by his standards like the rest of humanity and unworthy of taking his life. If Senran's reasons of selecting these two to follow were anything, it was to in fact bear witness to Kaito's evolution. He'd then set up two kanji in the air but nothing would come of them one with each hand in the same eloquent and divisive manner.

The young Kaguya had skewered one beast, killing it dead. The other had its skull cracked open, blood splattering her face from that reinforced headbutt. She pulled off and her hair flew back, blood arching in the air. She turned, growling out explicatives, barking away at Senran. "GO GET BENT YA BIG a*****e!" Maeko didn't like that guy and made her way back to Kaito. He was dazed and confused, and so she wrapped her arms around him and whispered in his ear. "It's going to be okay, yeah? I think they can take it from here, lets just go." The gal pulled back and gently moved her hands to his, before turning and starting to pull him along. "We need to get you out of here, so you can get your head on straight!" Her Gunbai was slung across her back, she was mainly focused on keeping the younger boy safe.

Kaito's mind was fuddled as Senran spoke, healing up his arm with complete ease. "Thank you..." he managed to say, unsure if Senran was from Arashigakure since he'd never seen him before and he didn't see a familiar headband - though, he was also finding it hard to focus on anything. He considered what he understood of the man's words, then listened to Maeko as best he could. "We're... leaving? Okay... okay, yeah. Bye, Mr. Man..." His eyes were slightly glazed over, even though his arm was healed, his mind was helplessly reeling and he was mostly on autopilot now.

"M..m.. Mom," He muttered under his breath as he let Maeko direct him off the battlefield. He kicked a severed head and flinched inwardly, but couldn't summon the energy to do anything but narrowly avoid kicking it twice in a later stride.
