Chromatic Weyr Assignments

So! You've made it through your Junior Weyrling days, and now you're all grown up and ready to fly the nest! Or at least, as long as you have kept out of trouble and mastered all your lessons so far, at least enough that the Weyrlingmaster and Crew aren't afraid to let you out of their sight, that is.

As of June 1st the Magic Clutches will be big enough to move out of the Weyrling Barracks and into their own weyrs! Hooray! Of course, this is a privilege, not a right at this age, so Sr. Weyrlings are still expected to mind the Weyrlingmaster and Crew, as they CAN be brought back to the barracks if they misbehave or make too much trouble or fall behind developmentally. In addition, as they are all the lowest on the rider totem pole, they do not get much (read: any) say on where they get housed... or with whom.

This thread was created to facilitate WEYR SHARING for those who are eligible and interested. Please note that you DO NOT HAVE to participate—you can just be one of the 'lucky ones' who managed to get their own weyr, either for size reasons (tiny weyr too small to fit more than one) or behavior reasons (you were super exemplary perhaps) or no real reasons at all (luck of the headwoman's draw).

---RULES---
1. You do not have to participate!
If you don't want to bother, or want to 'luck out' into a solo weyr, that's a-okay!

2. This is not permanent.
Once more weyrs open up (aka more riders/dragons die) weyrlings can request a transfer. Note however that there are also full-riders sharing right now, as HR is VERY FULL, so they might not get to move out right away if ranking folks request it as well.

3. There are no gender restrictions.
HR would like to think that you're all grown-ups by now and can control yourselves. Remember that being a dragonrider is like being in Pern's military, so your weyrling should at least have some basic discipline and not turn into a giggly 8-turn-old at the sight of another/the same gender.

4. Play nice with your roommate.
OOCly, that is. ICly your riders can both be furious that they have to share, or have totally clashing styles of living—but keep that drama IC, and remember that we're all just having fun here. No one was paired with you expressly to try your OOC patience, it's all random and meant to be fun.

5. Those with full-rider lovers/friends/family can move in with them instead.
If your weyrling has a lover or family member already in a weyr, they are welcome to move in with them instead of being assigned. However, note that if things go badly and the weyrling wants to move out, they will need to talk to the Headwoman, and she might either force you to share with another rider, or not be able to accommodate the move at all, depending on crowding at the time.

6. Metallics cannot apply—sorry kids!
Metallic riders, even metallic weyrlings, have all the luck at HR. They will still be randomly assigned weyrs, but they will be lower to the bowl, larger, have more amenities, and most importantly, are private. Unless they are part of a romance, they will be living alone, even if that means the weyr has to force every green, blue, withe or brown to double up.

7. There may be a small wait.
I plan to try to randomize in batches of at least ten, so there are ample options. There is no hard close date on this, since people come and go from the site at will, but if you've posted for a match and it's been a while without hearing, feel free to ping me about it. If I have to match smaller batches I will.

8. You will not get a self-pair.
'Cause that's boring and lame. And it's fun to get to play with others!

Ready to move out?

If you're ready to bite the bullet and leave the barracks behind, just fill out this form and sit tight! Note that assignments/pairings might go in waves as people express interest, so you might have to wait a little bit at times.

I guess it could be worse...
Current weyr assignments:

Your weyr is of a surprisingly decent size, even when shared, and you wonder how you lucked out. The first windy day reveals a strong draft however, and neither of you can seem to find the source. It isn’t bad this close to summer, but the thought of winter months ahead aren’t great. You might want to look into buying a few extra furs for the beds...

Talis of Blue Holleth & Zamistia of Brown Nanuth
The dragon couches in here have definitely seen better days, and one of them seems a little undersized for your dragon. It’s not uncomfortable, just... a tight fit. Whoever lived here before left some good-quality hangings at the ledge entrance though, and beyond the couch issue this weyr seems fine enough.

W'ill of Brown Faloth & Arlie of White Alegriath
This weyr is SMALL. It probably should have been a single-occupancy to be honest, but given the state of crowding, you can’t really complain... often at least. The beds are plush, however, and there is even a good size adjoining room for your use that you know some of the other weyrs might not have. Maybe it’s not all bad...

M'ton of Green Zygmuth & Jeri of Blue Auksarath
Someone beyond between must have your back! This weyr is just the right size for you and your roommate, the beds and dragon couches seem new, or at least well-kept up, the layout's not bad at all, and you even have a nice wide ledge for company to visit on! It's only a little later, when you hear a rather loud ruckus nearby, that you realize whoever's in the weyr above yours is very, VERY noisy. Maybe buy some earplugs for sleeping?

Quote:
Veltanna of Green Moirath & Shar of Green Yulaniath
Okay, so... it's a little on the small side, but this could be worse. The ceilings in this weyr are frankly a little bit low, and though you're not at risk of cracking your head, it makes the whole place feel... just a little tight, a little dim and claustrophobic, really. The small rooms seems to hold heat well, however, and you realize that you'll be set come winter... though summer might be a bit rough if there's a heatwave like last turn...

Quote:
Ce'rian of Green Cythereath & R'kar of Green Kaymahath
The first thing you notice is that the ledge is absolutely puny. Closer inspection shows that at least a part of it broke off at some point in the past, leaving one side a bit rough, and meaning your dragons might have to take turns sunning, unless they're both very small (or don't mind snuggling up together a bit). The rest of the weyr seems average, however, so at least there's that.

Quote:
S'lys of Brown Leoniath & Cavera of Blue Aviforth
This weyr is about what you expected. Small but serviceable, with no fancy features or frills. The rooms seem a bit tight, and the ceiling is notably slanted, making one side feel larger than the other. The dragon couches are pushed together for some reason though, and despite your efforts, they seem reluctant to budge. You could probably move them with your dragons' help, or just leave them if they don't mind being... close.

Quote:
Reya of Green Raqisath & Faranie of Blue Samedith
This weyr... has seen some stuff. It isn't a mess, per say, the headwoman would never allow an empty weyr to be dirty... but there are chips in the furniture AND the walls, a stain where probably a glass of wine was thrown, and everything seems strangely, evenly split—beds on total opposite sides, dragon couches too. A line of small stones runs down the middle of the ledge... a bad break-up, maybe? Otherwise it looks alright, hopefully there's no bad energy lingering...

**Please note that Uta/Cheri do plan to eventually layout the whole Weyr to show were people live in relation to one another, thus no mention of a given weyr being high up/low down/east-facing/etc. will be made.**
