Physical Description: Orry is every bit her father's child. She's above average height, just by a hair, at 5'11", and has a sturdy, thick build. With a wide bone structure, she has broad shoulders and hips, but manages to have evident curves in between. A bit soft in appearance, she lacks her father's strong build, however. She is a larger girl, to be sure, overweight and tall.
Still, she has her father's smile, wide (and a bit lopsided), but warm and friendly. While his grin is over a more sharp face, her facial features are a bit wider, heart-shaped, with full cheeks and lips. She has a soft, pleasant appearance, overall.
She has a preference for ornate and elegant clothing, often with embroidery and accents--and definitely many parts. She doesn't mind dressing for the warm weather of Western, and tends to have more practical clothing for when the situation requires it.
Dark of skin and hair, but with light green eyes, Orryxa finds her striking eyes to be her most interesting feature. Flecked with deeper shades and almost browns, they are quite lovely. She wears her hair long and often braided or pulled back.
Personality: Orry has been through hardship and fear; loss and death; struggle and sacrifice. Not a lot, to be sure, but enough that she could be depressed. Instead, Orry is characterized by fierce optimism, despite everything. She chooses to look on the bright side at all times, even if she doesn't want to. Positive, even in the face of danger, death, or destruction, she portrays a strong belief in others, as well. As a result, she wants to make others happy, make others laugh, make others enjoy life. A bit self-sacrificing in some regards, she chooses to portray herself as more immature than she actually is. Her silly antics bring people together and make them laugh (usually), so why shouldn't she? She can be a bit socially clumsy, so to speak, and often says or does the wrong thing, usually out of impulsiveness. Sometimes, she thinks something will make others laugh, but it just makes them angry or upset. While she feels bad and will try to make amends, it never stops her from trying.
Passionate, Orry does everything in extremes. She loves hard and fast, be it a person, a place, an item, or a hobby/interest. She could go on for ages about the things and people she loves, such as herbs and nature. She loves being outside, and can spend hours being surprisingly peaceful in nature. She can be a bit overwhelming, with a positive energy that can get exhausting. She can be serious, sure, but she finds that people are generally happier when they have someone to laugh with (or at). Orry is willing to be that person! She has an abundance of energy, and can be exceptionally productive when she puts her mind to something.
Even though she is kind, sweet, and loving, Orry can be fiery and strong-willed. She'll do things her way, but she won't argue or be rebellious. She'll just end up doing them her way, is all! She will always stand up for the "little guy," and if she sees anyone being bullied or yelled at, she will butt in to give them a piece of her mind. The type to try to break up fights, even if she has no idea why they broke out, Orry can be selfless and self-sacrificing, without regard to her own safety at times, but also a bit of a meddler. Sometimes...people don't want a random 18 year old getting in their way or lecturing them about their personal relationships? Wild...
Certainly, she's an opinionated sort, who is quick to assert how she thinks regarding situations. Even if no one wants to hear it! She's nice, of course, a total sweetie, but she's prone to butting into conversations that no one wants her to join. A bit of a chatterbox, she tends to monopolize conversation. What's more, she seems oblivious to social cues such as disinterest on others' parts, or things such as someone being attracted to her or flirting.
Orry enjoys reading, and can be a bit of a bookworm. Sometimes, she would rather be around people; other times, she'd rather be around books.
Orry's main goal is to bring people together. Even if that means being a goofball, she'll do it. She has a large heart and loves easily, but not always in a romantic way. She gives her affections out without discrimination, but is resilient and quick to bounce back from hurts. She can be a bit naive or innocent, at least in how she tries to think and act, despite what she's seen.
She's definitely immature, and has been disdainfully described as childish. She laughs at dumb jokes and has promised herself that she'll never lose her sense of wonder or positivity--no mater what. That said, she can be a bit reckless, particularly when defending someone else. She'll slide into the middle of a fight to break it up--not that she'll actually hurt anyone, oh no! She's certainly a pacifist, but she's not above trying to stand in the middle of two people trying to fight. She takes risks, socially and otherwise, and tends to be very impulsive, relying on instinct and her gut feeling--even when they're totally wrong.
Orry is independent, capable of acting on her own, and even bearing the struggles and burdens of others. She seeks to help, but can be her own person, with a fierce, empowered nature that drives her to work hard and keep strong--even if she doesn't always put herself first.

Orryxa was the firstborn to Denyna, a harper, and O'dyn, a bronzerider. She preferred the name Orry to her given name, a childhood nickname that stuck. She was born into a caravan group, which felt like family. Her little brother, Dennox, was born shortly after, when she was still young--about 2 or 3 turns old. Her early life was pleasant and uneventful, until she was about eight, when her trader caravan was suddenly attacked. She witnessed the bloodshed, the horror of the fight; her father was injured fighting for them, and her mother and grandfather died in the fight. It was tragic, and despite her young age, she can't forget the details. The blood, the death, the fear. It still gives her nightmares, at times, making poor Orryxa wake up in a cold sweat, recalling that fateful day.
She'd loved her mother and grandfather dearly, and felt the loss keenly, an ache in her heart. For a while, she cried, crying for her mother, crying for everyone to come back. O'dyn took Orry, her brother, and their trader family to Western Weyr for healing. She fretted about her father, visiting him in the infirmary all the time, and watched over her brother carefully as O'dyn healed and rested. They were under the care of the creche workers, of course, but it was a strange and unfamiliar environment, with strange and unfamiliar people. For a bit, they kept to themselves, with Orryxa tearfully recalling the day and flinching from touch or attempts at communication from those she didn't know.
After months of mourning and fear, Orry made a decision. She was getting nowhere by grieving for the past, by putting her life on hold. Life was happening now. Everyone was so sad...and she wanted to put smiles back on their faces. With determined, albeit forced enthusiasm, she began to open up again, smiling and laughing, and being silly to make others--especially her father--learn to laugh again.
Even as the caravanners moved on, leaving Western, her family remained, broken and lacking, but Orry tried to fill the emptiness as well as she could. Her father was sometimes overbearing, but she didn't mind it. She let him be protective, even sometimes letting him think she needed it, because it seemed to make him feel better. Still, she grew into an independent individual, who reassured her father that she was fine on her own, and that he didn't need to hover--but of course, she loved him dearly! She still visits him and sees him on occasion, but as she became a candidate, and he was a rider, their schedules rarely lined up.
She found early on that nature helped her cope, to remain grounded, and as a youth, often disappeared for a few hours, slipping away from her caretakers to spend time alone outside. She probably made her father worry, but...she needed it. Not that she thought it through, of course...
She became a candidate when she was old enough, and admired dragons for her whole life. How could she not, with Ansheth about? She loved the bronze, and loved flying with him. Naturally, she had no other plans--dragonriding or bust! When thread returned, she was all the more eager.
