Bukichi - he/him
Subtle as that approval might have been in comparison, when one was constantly seeking such a thing from one's father.... well, Bukichi certainly felt it. He felt--humbled, oddly, and some of his faded to give room to more serious contemplation. He very much hoped there was a new future in store for him--a better future. Maybe not today, or even when these eggs hatched... but someday.
Aryale appeared to be extremely focused on the egg in question, and after a brief moment of deliberation, Bukichi silently pulled away. He didn't want to interrupt whatever conversation they were having--even if the slightly shocked look on her face and her barely trembling hand made his brows knit with concern. Still, she seemed to be leaning towards the egg, rather than away from it. She could make her own decisions, and who knew what sort of impact interrupting a Touching could have?
Unaware of how close a hated foe had been to him, he quietly approached the Eggshell Egg, his touch gentle.
--
Lauthisen -- he/him
Despite himself, his lips quirked a little at the Green Olive Egg's frank response. Honestly? It was because they were instructed to make all the eggs feel welcome. Extremely important? Yes. Also a good filler when one wasn't quite sure what to say? Also yes.
Sorry. Sometimes he's not so great with talking. Thinking? The young man grimaced to himself.
--
Phryana - she/her
To have such thoughts and emotion laid out so clearly before her with not even a wisp of deception or falsehood... was both flattering and almost uncomfortable. Like she was deceiving the little egg, somehow.
The Shining Star egg was what she deigned to touch next, her thoughts still affectionate. Hi there.
--
Aerden he/him
And just like that, the egg seemed to be finished. It didn't seem to have found what it wanted, but the man merely drew his hand back and moved onto the next, undaunted. Matotoka appeared to be approaching the egg he'd just departed, and he offered the young man a slight smile.
The Nanner Egg was his next destination, his broad hand pressing against the smooth, warm shell. He got a nice and steady vibe from this egg.
demon_pachabel Hi Matotoka, bye Matotoka.

FISHER - she/her
'Hmm, I wanna go home because I miss the water, an' my dads, but life isn't so bad. Havin' a dragon and being here with the water would be nice though." Fisher answered the question she thought she felt as best she could before patting the egg and moving on. They'd been told not to linger, and if this egg was any indication she needed to get her thoughts more in order. To get responses one needed to ask something, or put in more feelings. It was easy enough in theory.
Moving on and along, Fisher came to a stop at the Green Olive egg and placed her hand on it, trying to think of what to do next. "I...think being a dragonrider would be amazing. Helping people, helping myself. Do you have anythin' you're looking forward to, or want to do? Other than hatch, I'd suppose."

Rundanrul gave a little huff but left the Paw Print egg with a little wave of respect. The dragon within knew what it wanted and wasn't going to let others push it around and he could appreciate that. He moved on, once more searching for eggs that gave off certain feelings as he walked by. He wasn't interested in the eggs that were tripping over themselves for attention, nor the ones that were quiet. He wanted a dragon with a personality, with confidence, with pride, with power.
Crouching down, he pressed his hand against the vibrant Bone Egg. This one was interesting.
Hello, little egg. Small but powerful, hm? he said.
---
Kateleel felt the dragonette within bloom under his touch and it brought a smile to his face. The poor thing, it had been feeling rather left out!
"Sorry I didn't come over here first," he said softly to it, giving the shell a gentle pat, returning the wave of gratitude with an encouraging one of his own. There were others looking to get at the shell and he had the feeling the dragon would appreciate the attention, so he parted ways with it.
Seeking out another happy egg, Kateleel touched the Eggshell Egg, having seen it trembling a bit with excitement.
"Hello," he said softly but cheerfully. This was going well so far and his confidence was rising. "You seem excited. Having a good Touching?"

Blue Cloud Egg The egg gave a slight bristle at Matotoka’s touch, but it resided with a sense of a sigh and a socially-appropriate smile. If the dragonet had any sense of privacy, it didn’t give any hint of it, quite abruptly delving into some of his most personal memories without even a basic introduction. As with the last candidate it’d met, it suddenly came to a stop. Is that all?
Eggshell Egg At the touch of a new candidate, the inhabitant of the white egg perked up. Another visitor! It took a few moments to sniff around Serfie’s thoughts. Pshaw, stop that now. You’re a perfectly good candidate!
Blue Cloud Egg Sure, Blue Cloud was fine. After getting a whiff of that newest mind, though… Ugh. One of those types. Much sulk. But that didn’t stop the egg from snooping, oh no. Tasty as sweets, those thoughts. When it was finished, it trailed off into somewhat disappointed mumbling.
Funfetti Egg Aroontwa was absolutely right to take such precautions. If an egg could puff up, that’s what this one was doing. It wasn’t exactly strutting, but its mental presence was certainly on display as if it was. Congratulations on meeting The Egg. It sized up the boy with a critical mental eye, and “puffed” a little more. Funfetti was definitely bigger.
Blue Cloud Egg Oh, come on. Another one already? The egg took one look at Nikal’s dazed mind and the muttering struck up again, a bit louder and… was it mimicking the candidate? It definitely had some of the same cadence of his initial greeting. Then there was a sudden boop to the boy’s hand through the shell. No one saw that, right? Ugh. Shoo, shoo!
Eggshell Egg This egg was having a great time, and hoped Keleres was too! Its mental presence circled with friendly enthusiasm around the girl’s mind, as if looking her over from top to bottom. It seemed to be sniffing most vigorously around recollections of what it was like to dance in the rain.
Eggshell Egg When Bukichi’s hand touched its shell, the little dragonet’s mind seemed to jump in surprise, but also recognition. As if meeting a personal hero, it giggled and swarmed about him, pointing at some thoughts in excitement. There! And there! There they are! Both of them.
Oh. Hmm. Why was this one’s version so different, though? OH WELL. It’ll all work out someday, friend! Smiiiiile!
Shining Star Egg Well HELLO. The egg welcomed the woman’s warm thoughts happily, having had a bit of a dry spell for a while before she’d come. It didn’t take Shining Star long to stumble across some things about Phryana that made its mental ears perk, then lay flat in a hurry. No need to spice that up. It seemed to look at her again, this time with admiration. What a brave person she was!
Mint Chocolate Chip Egg The greenish egg wasn’t in the middle of deep conversation or anything, but it was still startled when its world suddenly moved. After a mental blinkblink and an assessment of the situation, it started wriggling about on its own strength, rocking itself again as it had earlier. And just like earlier, moving was fun. Look, look! Look what it can do, Mom and Dad!

Candidate Jaiyce Western: He/Him pls.
He stayed completely frozen, did not move nor flinch nor breathe as Killakeeth came close. Had he harmed one of her babies, well he deserved whatever befell him at whichever hand it came. He quickly burried the thought away hopefully before any of the eggs could pick it up. And at that moment Killakeeth laughed at her egg, and still he didn't move.
As the Gold Queen turned her eye upon him, he simply waited for her verdict, and strangely her comment though ominous was reassuring to him. Killakeeth had searched him, had chosen him, Jaiyce to be here at this touching for her clutch.
And even so he did not move until the Queen had resettled herself. Then he dared take a small breath, finding a small amount of his determination flairing up as he took heart from the Queens words. He stood, making sure to give the egg room in which to move, and bowed low to Killakeeth. He was sure to face the judgement of the Candidatemaster later, for now however he had made a misstep to be sure, but had not harmed nor ruined anything.
Taking a few steadying breaths he walked across the sands to the Purple and White Swirl Egg and tenderly he laid his hand upon its shell. He softly said "Greetings" out loud following in his mind voice with the thought that This egg had a great mother, and he was grateful to her Searching him and the small wave of determination he'd felt at thinking of the gold Queen swelled again and he was filled with thoughts of the wonderful hope for the future of this egg.

Listening with bated breath to the Candidatemaster's speech, Kallian could scarcely tear his eyes off of the eggs. They presented such a sight that his hands itched to paint them. If only he had at least brought some parchment, he could have sketched the tableau before him. As it was, he found himself drawn with the rest to give a respectful bow to the mother of this splendid clutch. For a long time, he simply watched the others as they walked up to the eggs and put hand to shell. ... If he continued to only watch, however, there was little chance any of these eggs might give him a second glance. Or so he supposed.
He knew it didn't always work that way, but perhaps it didn't hurt to try his own luck. And so he came to rest beside the Candy Cane egg, whose bold stripes had caught his mind's eye. Placing his hand gently against the shell, he allowed it access to see all that was Kal: warring confidence and insecurity, the love of the art that had taken his parents away from him. Aren't you the striking one? he tried to make his thoughts say. Perhaps it would hear him. He was intrigued by the puzzle that they all presented - meaning hidden beneath a decorative facade. Who was this dragon child?

Orryxa Orryxa laughed. Not at the Night Sky Egg, heavens no, but she found it to be a great little egg for that very reason. You are lovely, and stay confident! I'll come back if I have time, if you'd like. She gave Night Sky a final pat, smiling to herself at its pride and happiness. It was so sweet...even if a bit over-confident. Still, that just contributed to its charm. That lovely feeling of her presence being enjoyed by an egg...that was wonderful, too. She was in good spirits as she touched The Green Olive Egg. She offered some of her good cheer to the egg, radiating good will and welcoming pleasantness. It wasn't difficult to be kind and open, after all, not when you sought to keep others so happy. She had the strength to smile, even in the face of horrors.
Nyrida Gay Flag seemed to...respond somewhat oddly to her. As the egg rolled a little, she pulled her hand back, worried that she'd upset it. After it had settled down a bit, she placed her hand back on its surface, reassuring it that it had done a fine job putting its best "shell" forward, and need not worry. She headed over towards The Blue Spotted Egg, placing her palm against the shell gently, and offering a pleasant, polite greeting.
Kyzier Ohoho! Wasn't this an interesting egg! They gave the egg a cheerful pat, as they smiled at its positivity. With a final burst of warmth at parting, they moved towards a really large egg. Purple Flying Heart Egg was pretty, and it was really big, which was pretty awesome. They wondered what was hidden underneath the shell, as they put their hand on the egg, gently running their fingers over the surface. And hello to you!
Xahteis Xahteis quickly drew his hand away from the Ace Flag egg, shoving the hurt thought from his mind with ease. No, he couldn't think about that now, nor could he fret about what he thought of that egg. He stepped back, taking a moment to compose himself and placing a generic pleasant greeting into his mind, before he approached the lovely Sunset Egg, pausing a moment, before placing his hand on the surface.

Oh! Helane was surprised by the wave of happiness from the first egg she touched, it made her smile and she felt so much better than she had before she laid a hand on it's shell. "Thank you" she said to the egg, smiling widely she patted it VERY gently .... before moving onto the next egg, the tight knot in her stomach, washed away by the lovely happy feeling from NightSky Egg. She looked about at the other eggs, wondering where to go next. She took a soft breath before just moving onto the next egg, and reached out and touched the Charcoal Egg "Hi there" she whispered, happier now.
~~~~~~~~~~
Farellen beamed, but of course he would be happy to hear Gay Flag Egg out, "Hey, it's ok, nice to meet you" he said gently, staying where he was for the moment, not moving onto another egg just yet, unless the egg wanted him to that was.
~~~~~~~~~~
Serfie jumped when a hand touched her shoulder, she was still jumpy around being touched, but she recognised the voice and her heart stopped thumping "oh, uh sure" she mumbled, distracted by waiting for a response from the egg she'd been touching, not trying to dismiss Dhawsn but wanting to keep focus on the egg.... When it did respond she was surprised, she was? Well that was nice to hear from someone other than Nasath. She tilted her head a little at the egg and actually smiled, "I hope your rider deserves you" she said to it quietly, "i have to go now" she added, before moving to the next egg, feeling a little more hopeful as she touched the next closest egg. She was still cautious as she put her hand gently on the Bone Egg's shell, wondering what the life inside this one was going to be like.

Sorsha / Western / female Sorsha let out a hoot of a laugh. "Yeah, I'm sure it's really dark in there, but that's not what I meant. I'm... not sure what I meant, actually..." With a shrug, she patted the large egg gently and moved on to the Purple Flying Heart egg that was nearby. She thought warm, friendly, happy thoughts at it as she touched the shell. Hello there! I hope you're a nice friendly egg...
********* Tokki / Western / male The pride the brightly-speckled egg felt for itself amused Tokki, and he chuckled. "Yes, you are quite the spectacle. Any Candidate would be proud to Impress you." Then the dragonet inside the egg told him that he too has a shell. What did that mean? Was it... how reserved he was? Did he need to be more involved with others, less wrapped up in his herbs?
Pondering this, Tokki moved on, stepping through the other eggs until he came to the Blue Spotted egg. He placed a hand on the shell lightly and tilted his head at it. "I wonder if you know what that other egg was talking about," he murmured half to himself. "Do I... really have a shell around me? "
