We're building a custom home. Just put in the first round of deposits, had our first set of meetings, and we're on our way. We're super duper excited.
Our last 6 months has been a lot of looking at blueprints, signing paperwork, doing structural selections, visiting studios and showhomes, and talking with construction managers. We finally have our solid home plans and most of our selections taken care of.
- 3 bedroom (two extra in the basement when finished) - 2.5 bath (extra in the basement once we finish it) - about 2300sqft excluding the basement - wood cabinets - quartz countertops (with holographic glitter embedded in it so it SPARKLES RAINBOWS) - stone tile floors in the entryway and bathrooms - wood-mimicking vinyl floors downstairs (cheaper and more durable than hardwood) - tiled, glass shower - 3ft front stone face - walk-in closet - walk-through pantry (Yes, ma'am. You can bring in your groceries from the door, put them away without going through the kitchen AND THEN take them out from the kitchen when you need them. WITH WALKING SPACE.) - island with sink (possibly with wine rack; haven't fully come to a decision on that) - refrigerator with ice and water dispensers - glass-top stove - cherry red door heart - bonus room upstairs (turning it into a music studio with proper soundproofing and double doors) - planning for a puppy upon possession (100+lb great pyrenees/tornjack/Newfoundland crosses husband's cousin breeds) - upstairs full laundry room - possible crystal chandelier in the entryway (still deciding on what kind of chandelier we want, but there will be one) - central air conditioning - heated floors
Construction begins in September/October. Possession is for May/June.
LOOK! LOOK! ADULTING! AAAHHHHHH!

Update!
We went in to pick our appliances. Basically, they model the kitchen custom so that your appliances fit in and the cabinets fit so nicely around everything.
We chose...
- standard microwave and dishwasher - oven upgrade to hybrid convection glass 5-top with a million settings - upgraded laundry to double-capacity front-load machines - upgraded fridge to french-door/freezer combo with adjustable everything, superb lighting, and ice/water dispenser

Nowhere near having my dream house yet, but I also want to have a custom-built house! My fiance and I talk about all the stuff we want knowing we'll be lucky if we get even half of it. :B
