His emotions were still heavily mixed as he waited for Fehral and Zadelraheth to move along. It was easy to lose focus of the happenings around him while he gazed at Fehral, hoping to encourage him off, even as he tried to steel himself from the inevitable envy and bitter fear that was growing within him.
Movement caught his eye, as a voice entered his head, and only too late did he look upon the prettiest blue dragon he had ever seen. The words spoken hardly registered, even as found himself pushed down into the Sands. Down he went, falling hard--just as hard as hearts were for this most incredible dragon.
Nothing else seemed to matter.
As Vardoth stood over him, gazing down at him with his rainbow regard, something within Chayrel finally shattered. All of his walls crumbled as the blue took note of his heart; every secret envy, all his longing, and Turns of hidden pain was ever so carefully removed--and in its place was undying adoration, support, and understanding. Vardoth was nothing but a wellspring of peace and love incarnate.
Chayrel was no longer the same man he had been with this blue being now so securely in his life. He didn't have to worry about the mines, or a return to Nabol. He didn't have to worry about being separated from Fehral or somehow being forgotten. He had gained the foothold he had so desperately sought, and the sense of security that enveloped him was overwhelming.
"Y-yours!" He choked out a reply, succumbing to the claim, reaching up a trembling hand to touch his dragon. HIS!. He almost felt as if it was a dream or some cruel trick--but that cynical doubt within him, that fear and mistrust that Nabol had beaten into him--was gently, but firmly, displaced by nothing but pure, unadulterated love.
I am here and will always be here. There was no self-pity, not any longer. The blue dragon nuzzled the boy's hand, before Chayrel pulled his face down against his--crying tears of genuine joy, and letting them sweep away the shell of who he once had been. To not have to be afraid again. To feel the weight of all that fear, all that trauma, dissipate in a moment. He had never felt more free, for all that he would now be serving all of Pern and the Weyr.
This was his home. He was finally home.
Once the tears had subsided--he didn't care what he looked like, or the sand upon his back and hair--he wiped at his cheeks, and pushed himself up. His arm draped about the most wonderful dragon, he finally turned his eyes to Fehral and Zadelraheth.
"His name... His name is Vardoth."

Rundanrul - W
Rundanrul watched and waited for one of the browns or bronzes to head his way, but alas, they Impressed before even glancing towards him. When all that remained were blue and greens he turned his gaze to them, not expecting them to come towards him. It was no matter - his would be in another clutch. Now he just had to wait for these final few dragons to Impress and he could go back to Western.

Versha - HR
Versha stood ready and waiting for her own dragon though she wasn't sure there was one out their for her this time. She'd been positive both she and her sister would be passed over in favor of more experienced riders. But she'd been surprised! Perhaps there was one more surprise out there for her as well.
---
FivudalFi'dal
Arwainth bumped against Fivudal's legs as they walked, his hand still on her small head. He kept glancing down at her to make sure this was real, that he hadn't just walked off the sands and away from a patient for no reason. The tiny green beside him giggled softly and gazed up at him with affectionate blue-purple eyes, her pronged tail swinging happily behind her.
It's real, FivudalMine. At least, I think I'm real. She wrinkled her nose and flapped her wings as if experimenting to see if she was made of ichor and bone, and once she seemed satisfied that she was real Arwainth glanced back up at her rider.
Yes, I'm real! Don't worry, I checked.
"Ah...thank you," Fivudal said as they approached the table where the other new riders were feeding their hungry dragons. He felt just a bit out of place here among younger faces, ones he didn't recognize as easily as he had a few years ago when he'd been a Candidate himself. But still, old training returned and he took a spot at the table beside one of the few young women to Impress and her blue.
"Ah, sorry...this spot taken?" he asked with a weak smile. Arwainth, however, sidled right up next to her blue brother and nudged his side with her nose happily.
Kourith, it's so nice to see you out of the shell! Isn't this just wonderful? You were so helpful out there to show everyone how it was done.

Ryala
When the last green emerged, and then immediately hid again, Ryala's heart went out to the poor dear. The little one seemed overwhelmed by the number of people waiting to see her. She remembered her first time performing, how the stage fright had tried to make her lock up. But it was something that any performer had to learn to overcome.
The performance expected of this last green, however, was far different from any show she had given. Everyone was watching the hatchling, for what she did would change someone's life. And all the candidates were hoping that it would be theirs that was changed...!
So much expectation, to place on one just hatched!
When the green first sought comfort from her mother, and then climbed on her head, Ryala debated with herself. Should she continue to offer encouragement? Or should she try to look away, so the green wouldn't feel so pressured?

Verica & Blue Kourith
"It's a pleasure to meet you D'rok of the new name, we'll be all working together here soon enough for sure." She was so excited for that part and the rushing sort of desire to experience everything and go quickly about it that was boiling in Kourith seemed to be heightening her excitement. But she allowed herself to glance away from what she was doing for the moment to peer at the bronze with his scratches. The other man, who's name she had no knowledge of, had impressed to the bronze that had gone claw to claw with his brown brother.
Do you think he'll be okay?
He seems quite fine for all of his foolish posturing. Kourith didn't even cast a glance at his brother as he ate the last bit of meat before him and positioned his wings to sit just so on his back. He wasn't about to overindulge when he wanted to go running after and his was doing quite well in giving him extra. To Khazariath he let a greenish orange eyed gaze fall however. It's just a manner of knowing the proper way to do things. Pern and thread wait for no one's decisions after all.
Veri couldn't help but smile down at her perfect blue, even if he was so particular he was just making her want to laugh and be unconcerned about the status of anything. Maybe that would be something to work at in the future, for now she found it utterly charming and welcome. Her attention, however, was pulled straight up to a newcomer to the table who looked to be just a bit anxious. "Oh for you never at all." Verica patted the seat beside her with a broad grin. "C'mon down to the blunt side of the table where we hold nothing back."
She was of course speaking of Kourith because she herself was a master at hiding most things, though she didn't know about the other two men. The little blue, speaking of, let a flood of pleasure overcome him, purples swirling into his orange eyes. Aaah, lovely Arwainth, you were impeccible at finding yours so quickly and efficiently. Good show lovely. Should we teach yours how to cut the meat correctly, Mine is just so sloppy at it. If a dragon cold roll their eyes he was at Verica, in the most affectionate way possible.

Miela
Tears still running down one side of her face, the small girl looked up at the healer speaking to her kindly and her brows furrowed as much as they could for the stitches. Rather than rushing her up or dragging her around, he at least seemed interested in helping but she was just a seething ball of frustrated anger and nothing could soothe it. No matter how calm he seemed. There was only one dragon left on the sands and it certainly wasn't hers, so she nodded her head slightly. Wincing a little and scrabbling at the sands with her hands to try and pull her up while her head argued.
Best to get out of here, best to do her best to forget everything and learn her place apparently. Oh she was so angry and so worried and so filled with guilt. It was all her fault and to know that no one had listened to anything she was trying to warn them about or say or... maybe she hadn't done it well enough. Maybe she'd been too hopeful.
With the healer beside her she simply dissolved.
Mr Cheri He's so nice omg lol She can't take it out on him for being so nice. XD

[ka'ia and bronze argamath - he/him - HR]
One left, now. He could see people starting to leave, though--one in particular caught his attention far more than the rest, though. Tunnelsnake, limping away--but there was still a dragonet out there. Ka'ia frowned, brow furrowing as he turned to Argamath, who simply nodded his assent.
Excuse me--Tunnelsnake surely can't be your name, can it? But Mine would like to ask you to stay just a touch longer. A pause. Quiet consideration, slowly working its way through their bond. He also asks that you find him at the feast, or whenever is most convenient for you.
