While the girls were still very small, Selich kept them mostly to the bay around Mermaid's Rock and close to home where he taught them all the important things he could think of, like: keeping their seal skins close to hand when in their land shape and never showing them to anyone aside from other selkies or unless they 100% trusted the paeson because they could get stuck in that form if they lost their skin. He taught them to hunt, floating with lazy grace under the water before putting on a burst of speed to catch fish or escape from danger.
But, in what seemed like a blink of an eye, his babies weren't so little and fragile, anymore. Suddenly, they were getting taller and walking and talking instead of scooting along on their bellies and cooing. In response to this growth spurt, Selich started really considering what he'd said to Leone about going back to Las Venus. Was the hotel even still standing, though? What exactly had happened last time around? Obviously, the evening was rather fuzzy in his memory; he still hadn't the slightest idea who helped him make his treasures Fen and Lee.
Throwing caution to the wind, he decided to make a roundabout trip to Cha'en Beach and the resort where he kept getting hit and run by Hanna. The first part of the trip took them around the coast to the trading post, where they switched to overland travel, following the roads and skirting villages like Kekomura and the Stargrove before returning to the water in the shallows of Tuatha'ri Lake.
From a distance at the very edge of Cha'en Beach, he looked at Amaremur. Without the revelry and excitement at the height of Venus Day, it seemed almost somber in its stillness. He might have found it highly disconcerting if Fenella and Sgàile hadn't chosen that exact moment to engage in their favorite pastime: getting on each other's nerves.
"C'mon Fenny! I jus' sp'ashed you. We in the wata."
"I dun wanna be splashed! Chu goddit in mah face an' made me cough!"
"Keepa mouf clozed, den."
"DAAA! Sky-lee's bein' a brat!"
Selich briefly rolled his eyes skyward, looking for patience, before turning his complete attention away from the shore and onto his feisty girls.

It had been... well it had been a bit rough the past year. Hanna had another little one to take care of and was quite glad when she finally grew up into a little girl. It had been hard on her boy Beatrice even if he wasn't the one taking care of Meztli. He had been very helpful, but it had been overwhelming to have yet another child in the house. Not to mention that her father and mother had written to her and she still hadn't responded and ugh... she just did not want to think about any of it!
And it was around the time of year when the Valentine's party was going to happen, or would usually. But last time, even if she didn't remember it, the whole place had practically been destroyed and... well she wondered if there even would be any event this year. Would she get to see Selich again? Twice she had gone there, twice she had come back with children, but somehow never with his... She didn't mind it of course, she loved Beatrice and Meztli, but that didn't meant that she didn't want to be with the Selki.
When Beatrice had suggested going to the beach for a break she had readily agreed and the family had made their way to Cha'en beach and well... there.
As they got closer they could hear that another family had made their way to the beach and after a few more moments Hanna realized who it was! "Selich?!" She said in a somewhat high-voice, almost at a squeak and making her older child jump in surprise as kept his grip on his little sister.
Beatrice had heard of the Pae and couldn't remember if he had met the other or not. When he did see the guy though, he wasn't quite sure what his mother saw in him. Probably the hair. He thought as he couldn't quite help but admire the Pae's hair when he saw it. Perhaps he should grow his out...

Literally in the middle of separating his daughters, Selich almost didn't hear Hanna's high-pitched call over all the splashing and bickering. But heard it he did and he turned to look back up the sandy beach. What were the odds? Without thinking, the selkie put up a hand and waved once, before awkwardly combing his fingers through his hair. Where to start? "There ya are, Hanna. Ah've missed you," he called back, then flashed a grin and gestured at the pups. "Mah girls."
Surprised by their dad's sudden stillness followed by his introduction, both Sgàile and Fenella called an impromptu truce and moved to peer around Selich's sides, their big dark eyes taking in all three members of the little family. Shy, not only because they didn't associate much with land-dwellers but also because Selich had talked about the angel before, it took some coaxing to get them to move out in front and toward the sand.
Stopping just shy of Hanna, he smiled again at the angel then offered similar smiles to the young adult and child with her, introducing himself to them. "Ah'm Selich and this is Fenella and Sgàile," he told all three, patting his daughters' heads as he shared their names.
SSBrosB Lots of catching up to do. Do you wanna focus on VDay and come back to this after or finish this up and then go to the party?

It took some maneuvering, but Selich finally managed to get their mixed company settled on a quiet, out of the way sliver of beach where he sat down Hanna and Beatrice (who was old enough to understand, if not particularly care) and explained some things while Fenella, Sgàile, and Meztli played in a nearby tide pool.
There had never seemed to be a good time (or any time at all) to reveal his innate "magic" and tell her about his sealskin in between their annual meetings at Venus' temple. Now there was no avoiding it, his daughters being too young to remove their skins and Hanna being rightly confused about his fathering a couple of seal pups. So Selich did his best to lay it all out there.
At some point, Beatrice got bored (wholly disinterested in his mom's boyfriend) and moved off so he was sitting slightly apart from both the "babies" and the adults. That was fair enough; it was the lad's ma whose opinion mattered most at the moment. "So, then. Mah paeple are a wee bit of a myth an' Ah'd appreciate ya no spreadin' it around about mah skinshiftin'. Now, as Ah've gone ta the Venus Day festivities ev'reh year hopin' ta see ya agin, Ah'd like to formally ask yew ta attend this one as mah date."
