Many reject the Bible because of its teachings on male headship. In Why Modern Patriarchy Is Not Biblical, Kathryn J. Riss, Th.M. had started out on the wrong foot, defining patriarchy as “the supremacy of the father.” However, this doesn’t reflect a Biblical understanding of male headship, which is about role distinction and not superiority:

* But I want you to understand that the head of every man is Christ, the head of a wife is her husband, and the head of Christ is God. (1 Corinthians 11:3)

Does this include other leadership patriarchies? It's something I have always been curious about.

Scripture disagrees with the green in the underlined...

Quote:
Male and female are equally created in the image of God. Consequently, they have equal value before Him.

...just because we are both equally made by God does not mean we have the same value. Redemption prices in the Father’s Law hint at this.

      • Luke 2:22-23 (NIV)

22 When the time came for the purification rites required by the Law of Moses, Joseph and Mary took him to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord 23 (as it is written in the Law of the Lord, “Every firstborn male is to be consecrated to the Lord”[a]),

        Footnotes:

        a. Luke 2:23 Exodus 13:2,12

        Leviticus 27:1-8 (NIV)

27 The Lord said to Moses, 2 “Speak to the Israelites and say to them: ‘If anyone makes a special vow to dedicate a person to the Lord by giving the equivalent value, 3 set the value of a male between the ages of twenty and sixty at fifty shekels[a] of silver, according to the sanctuary shekel[b]; 4 for a female, set her value at thirty shekels[c]; 5 for a person between the ages of five and twenty, set the value of a male at twenty shekels[d] and of a female at ten shekels[e]; 6 for a person between one month and five years, set the value of a male at five shekels[f] of silver and that of a female at three shekels[g] of silver; 7 for a person sixty years old or more, set the value of a male at fifteen shekels[h] and of a female at ten shekels. 8 If anyone making the vow is too poor to pay the specified amount, the person being dedicated is to be presented to the priest, who will set the value according to what the one making the vow can afford.

        Footnotes:

        a. Leviticus 27:3 That is, about 1 1/4 pounds or about 575 grams; also in verse 16
        b. Leviticus 27:3 That is, about 2/5 ounce or about 12 grams; also in verse 25
        c. Leviticus 27:4 That is, about 12 ounces or about 345 grams
        d. Leviticus 27:5 That is, about 8 ounces or about 230 grams
        e. Leviticus 27:5 That is, about 4 ounces or about 115 grams; also in verse 7
        f. Leviticus 27:6 That is, about 2 ounces or about 58 grams
        g. Leviticus 27:6 That is, about 1 1/4 ounces or about 35 grams
        h. Leviticus 27:7 That is, about 6 ounces or about 175 grams

When looking at the same age bracket, males are always valued at (thus, worth) more than their female counterparts because of their usefulness. We (female) are the weaker vessels in various ways. We are physiologically weaker: we do not have the same forearm strength as a man; we are also psychologically more tender: we’re more easily traumatized [PTSD is More Likely in Women Than Men]; we menstruate or are pregnant in a debilitated/more vulnerable state in ways that a man is not. There are various reasons why we are not valued at the same price, despite being equally made by God (YHWH/Jesus/Holy Spirit).

Saying otherwise (that He values us the same [as if the sexes were identical]) is just worldly philosophy that rejects part of Scripture / the truth / reality for sentimentality’s sake. Though our identity in Christ outweighs any other label/categorization, those physiological differences haven’t changed.

That said, I agree with rest of what was explained from Scripture. The female: if married, willingly obeys her husband (who lawfully redeemed her from her father or mother) or if still single, living in her father’s or mother’s house, she submits to her father and/or mother (or to her boss/slavemaster if working for someone and they’re providing all her needs contractually, thus is owned by them/belongs to them/is under their care). The body is not meant to exist without a head (of some sort, ultimately not without YHWH in our lives directing our thoughts, perspectives); not to mention, we as females are more easily prone to deceptive persuasion that disagrees with the Father.

We must always agree with the Father and the Son; otherwise, it’s not Him that we’re worshiping, but being led astray to worship the culture of the world.

note: the article I linked to is worldly philosophy; if it's difficult to read through, I'll provide another:

Quote:
Women Are Diagnosed with PTSD More than Men, Even Though They Encounter Fewer Traumatic Events, Says Research
[...]
"PTSD may be diagnosed more in women in part because of the criteria used to define it. Cognitive and emotional responses to traumatic events make a diagnosis of PTSD more likely. So even though men may experience more traumas, they don't seem to have the same emotional responses to traumatic events," said Tolin and Foa.
