Instead being replaced with a sudden gasp, and then C-ranked chest pain.
As Usagi would look down, an illusionary blade would have pierced her heart, causing her to enter a state of shock. Sliding the blade deeper into her chest, a vision of Muzon standing just behind her. "I did not believe you... From this moment forward your life is forfeit.
You belong to Tanigakure now, and you will live for her, and you will die for her. And in turn you will know everlasting glory.
Welcome to the Valley..." He would say in a wispy tone. Twisting his blade around wiithin her chest. It was at this time that Usagi's consciousness would begin to fade from her and she would succumb to the illusion.
She would then be hauled off to the medical center for some much deserved rest.

tabUsagi’s eyes went wide as her voice failed her. She was numb for a little bit, unfeeling towards any sensation of pain while she tried to process what just happened. The Genin could hear Muzon’s voice cut clearly through her mental haze, and it was just enough to ground her to reality still. The woman looked down while he spoke only to catch the blade that was so prominently sticking from her chest. It was then that the sensation finally fought its way through the shock, and it came all at once. Pain, sharp and electric, immediately coursed through her body, worsening the closer it got to the blade in her chest. Usagi’s vision was blurry and unfocused as the world seemed to be spinning around her, creating visions of duplicate blades and body parts whenever she saw them. The blonde ninja could hear her breathing start to come in shallow breaths, mixing in her ears with Muzon’s words and the sound of blood pumping through her veins. “Welcome to the Valley…” She’d heard him say before eventually she collapsed.
Soon, Usagi’s world went dark as she lay there on the ground, surrounding her with pitch black darkness. Blood flowed from her chest and rolled right by her and she stared with lifeless. Half lidded eyes. This wasn’t the life she’d wanted, not really. Usagi had wanted to live free, and when she’d finally found a home… She watched as her own blood spread around her and into the ground of her new home, created by one of the few men she’d come to respect. Overhead Usagi was dimly aware of thunder crashing just before rain started to fall in sheets. Maybe home just wasn’t something she could have, in the end. While she sat there and thought, trees started to sprout around Usagi. There were dead and barren, with only branches that were as sharp and pointed as the blade inside of her. They rose to impossible heights into the blackness while Usagi was unmoving on the ground. Her ever growing pool of blood seeped into the dirt and was seemingly absorbed as nutrients for the trees. All she could do was watch them grow with her unfocused vision. What seemed like an eternity later, something else sprouted. Erupting from the ground was a series of blood red chains, spewing dirt and earth violently all around as they shot into the air. Soon after they collapsed and wrapped around Usagi, surprisingly weightless for the amount of metal and for their bindings. Once they got a hold of her, the chains started to drag Usagi into the ground, slowly, so she could watch the ground level slowly rise in her field of vision. Tears started to well up in her eyes while she laid there, unmoving, as her world started to succumb to the darkness.
Usagi shot into a sitting position with a loud gasp. The woman looked around wildly as her breathing came in short bursts. The ninja felt cold and clammy underneath the hospital bed sheets. “I’m not… dead?” She thought aloud. More carefully she looked around and took in her surroundings. A small clinic room, an uncomfortable cot that served as a bed. The Genin watched as her Kage, from another side of the room, let a messenger falcon fly free from the window. “Was that all a dream…?” She muttered, looking down at her lap as her hands gripped the white cloth that surrounded her.
There was a few minutes of silence as Usagi cintemplated what she needed to do next. "If my life belongs to Tani now." She eventually said in a business like manner, her usual playfulness gone for the time being. "Then there's somewhere I need to go." As the Genin spoke she rummaged around for her stuff. Eventually she pulled out a scroll. In a few quick swipes she engraved something into it with her chakra embedded finger before tossing it to Muzon. "If I'm not back in a week, use this to teleport to me and do whatever you think you need to. Kill me or whatever." She went back to packing, casually brushing aisde the seriousness of what she'd said. As she slung a bag over her shoulder, she gave Muzon a look of intensity that she didn't have before. "I need to visit the Squids." Right as she was speaking, Usagi was already forming handseals. She slammed her palm to the ground, only to disappear in a puff of smoke.

tabAfter what would have felt like just a mere matter of moments, a poof of smoke formed inside the clinic again. “Hiii Tani-chaaan~!” As the smoke dispersed the smiling blonde revealed herself. She seemed unaware of it but the Genin was drenched in sea water. A few pieces of seaweed were stuck to her hair as she bowed to Muzon upon entering. “Sorry for disappearing like that for so long!” She laughed with a wave of her hand. Drops of water fell around her as she did and even a small squid fell with them. Usagi didn’t seem to notice or care as she stood back to full height. “I needed to go renew my contract. You how dang picky those Summon animals can be.” Usagi wrung out her hair once she was done talking, paying attention to Muzon by looking up, pretty akin like a puppy. “So what’s with all the extra training and evaluating, my man. Got a mission for me? Or is it about the Chunin Exams?”
"So you're going?" said a patient laying in a hospital bed. While he laid in the bed, the youth didn't fit the bill for anyone ill or disabled. Wrapped up snug and tight within the white bed sheets, he looked at her curiously before reiterating himself.
"Things have been getting real busy lately, so I've been making my way around bend. I'd heard Tani had found some interesting talent and wanted to check out what all the fuss was about. But forget all that, you really plan on taking that test?" as he spoke, the soulless ginger would wrap himself up tighter in his bed sheets, catching a nasty draft after tossing around during his small chat.
"Ah Akamitsu. You've arrived." The Tanikage would say, rotating in his wheely chair. Turning his attention toward Usagi he would address her questions. "Both." He would say with a stoic and brunt answer. "I've gotten notice that the chunin exams will be commencing soon. Usagi I am sending you to represent the village. It is imperative that Tanigakure begin to build relations with outside nations. "
Raising from his seat, the elderly man would begin to explain more on the situation. "During this time I'd like to set up surveillance. As the wise and powerful Sun Tzu once said, Keep your friends close, and your enemies closer..."
Motioning toward Akamitsu. "Meet Akamitsu Uzumaki. though he is your junior you'll find him more then capable.

"On another note. We have some scouting to do, It seems as if Emperor Masashiro as begun tightening his control over Hanguri Bay. This troubles me greatly, for this task I send Usagi and another.
He has yet to arrive." It was at that moment that the Tanikage would become very annoyed. He hated explaining things twice. And with his latest escapade within Ryuchi Cave. His enemies would surely be watching.

"Taking this position would allow us to first open trade with the rest of the world, and second defend against impending imperial advancement." Planning his moved carefully The Valley Shadow would then begin to explain exactly what was required for this mission.
"Secrecy is key, for this assignment you are only to collect as much information that you can on first the island, and second enemy forces within the bay." Returning to his seat, The Kage would then narrow his eye looking toward Usagi and Aoi. "It goes without say that detection would be disasterous for us. Tensions between the Empire and Tanigakure are already high enough. If you are not the picture of caution. We may start an international incident." Running his hand through his hair the situation within the bay seemed to be the new focus, but it was just as important to focus on things within the land. Leaning back in his leather comforter The withered old man would then begin to deploy his men. "You must remain undetected within the area for 3 days, once you've completed that return to me immediately.

Just before the duo of Usagi and Aoi would depart, Muzon would turn and say. "Oh and another thing..."

tabUsagi blinked at the sound of a new voice and dropped her playful act momentarily. Sitting all nestled up in one of the beds (the one she had been using in fact) was a blond boy. He looked, if she had to guess, about four years her junior, which Muzon later confirmed. Usagi felt a cocky yet lazy smirk crawl on her lips as she waved away the boy’s question. “Not sure, my man. Big exams like that aren’t really my scene. ‘Sides, Konoha and I share some bad blood.” It would be literal moments after Usagi had finished talking that Muzon said she’d be going to the exams. “You’re kidding…” Her cocky demeanor fell and her face turned a slight shade of blue. He was sending her back to Konoha? Or at the very least, somewhere that Konoha would be able to see her. The very idea sent shivers down her spine. If the Tanikage asked, the woman would do it but she wouldn’t be thrilled.
The Genin would be so entrenched in her thoughts that she didn’t even notice someone else until he came from the shadows. “Ah!” She jumped and reflexively posted a defensive stance with her hands held flat and up by her head. Another boy, with blue hair this time and a horn, finally revealed himself. “Seriously… were they here when I was knocked out…?” She mumbled. From then on, Usagi paid close attention to the Kage’s directions. “Sounds like a nice three day vacay~” She chimed with a grin on her face. While the girl gave off a lackadaisy attitude, she was already trying to map out just what she’d need. “So, Tani-chan, how much prep time do we have? By the end of Muzon's debreif Akami got up from the hospital bed. He knew whatever tensions ran high where most likely built on the premise that he'd already rubbed the Imperials the wrong way. While he couldn't truly sense what kind of damage he'd wrought on his travels, but he could get a rough idea of what was to occur in the coming months.

This meant plans would be expedited. Great. Without much time to waste he'd head for the door. He could see why Muzon wanted him to meet Usagi, she gave off an aura almost identical to her own. However the dude in blue put him on edge. Something about him was, unnatural, to say the least. Rather than attack suddenly, he'd make a mental note to face him later.
"These two seem rather appealing. Maybe next time you can show me what Tani-nin are all about!" a brief fairwell before leaving them to their schemes. However, he almost forgot to run something past Muzon before leaving. "I guess I'll have him carry a note when he gets here...
After finding a perfect vantage point, he'd bring both hands together. Familiar marks would reappear across his frame before a surge of chakra flooded his very being. *RUMBLE*
Summoning the might of his very life force, a large, winding wall of wood would surround the at the outer edges of village, leaving a several passable entrances, one for each cardinal direction. Using his chakra sensing, he'd pick up on the next location before leaving a batch of wind in his wake.

So get out of my office NOW!" The old man would shout allowing his temper to flare up once. Tanigakure had missions on back order, once deployed gone again. They didn't have the same amount of resources or men, so the bulk of the work was being done by those most capable. Overworked and angry Tanigakure shinobi knew no rest. For sleep was the cousin of death.

As the briefing came to a close, Aoi would raise up from the corner to receive his new headband. It had only been for a moment as Aoi looked down at his headband. Bits and pieces of a long forgotten past would spark in his mind. < it’s been a while since I worked with children.> Murmuring in his oni dialect underneath his shirt as he wrapped the headband around his left arm. The blonde haired boy scurried off, though Aoi could detect the boy’s cautious eyes on him. Though unseen, a small smirk would appear on his face. A few seconds would pass before his focus would return to the task at hand.
The task shall be done. Aoi proclaimed towards the tanikage before turning to the blond girl. Even with just a glance, he could tell she had great amount of skill. Slowly making his way towards her, different scenarios and strategies began to play out in his mind. The distance between them would grow shorter and shorter until they were face-to-face.
Now with a new mission, Aoi quickly prepared to take his leave as his services were no longer needed. Just before taking off he decided it would be wise to get to know his new teammate. greetings, my name is Aoi I look forward to working together. Greeting the young girl in a low, composed tone.

tabThe woman caught the headband carefully with both hands. Her reflection looked back at her from the metal plating and Usagi couldn’t help but feel a heavy pressure on her shoulders. Memories came back from her time in Konoha, reminding her of her time trapped as a slave to her family. The only thing that snapped her back from the world of the past was Muzon’s sudden fiery outburst. “Kaaayyy~” Usagi gave a small salute to her Kage before leaving the office. The blue haired man went with her, both of them silent for a little. Usagi let out a sigh and rested her back against the wall. Just what was going on all of a sudden? He’s never asked me to do something like this… The Genin scratched the back of her head and closed her eyes. There was a tension in her shoulders that faded. This was going to be total drag… Usagi looked at her new headband again, a little bit of sadness in her eyes for just a moment, before she tied it around the upper part of her right arm just below the shoulder.
Something in her senses stirred and Usagi looked up to see the blue haired boy was suddenly close. Very close. Hasn’t he ever heard of personal space? Usagi took a step back and met him with her face wide grin. “Nice to meet ya, Aoi!
