“Mmmnnyaaarrrrrrrr!” The feline voiced his approval of an ambush well executed, lacking and consideration into what happened a human might. Nabi might have felt a least a little bad about the reaction caused but it didn’t really show on her feature, smirk maintain until his scolding came, Nabi pulling her head back a few inches and raising both brows as if feigning like he was being a lot more loud and intense that in actuality, the smirk maintained throughout. She offered him a shrug and offered the unfair option of ”Then try to be more alert Ryuji, you knew we were meeting here after all, shoulda expected us!” She said this in a teasing voice that implied this was something obvious, pausing as she looked down to Kaze for a moment. After the pair ended sharing gazes she would shrug her shoulders and sigh, relenting a little with ”…But yeah, my bad…..it’s not like we wanted you to ruin the Bento… So it’s fine now that we know it’s still good and that I’ve apologized right?” She ended with one of the worst apologies known to humanity, though in her own special case that’s what this actually was.
She had followed his suit and was now faced away from him and looked at the citadel main walls with a contemplative look, then turned back to Ryuji. ”You don’t need to be worried about me, you know I’ve done stuff like this before…. even if I’ve never tried sneaking into such a secure place as this one, I had Kaze skulk about and get me some good deets so we should be fine….” She sounded contemplative as she spoke but was generally relaxed about the whole thing, though maybe it was just overconfidence in herself and her own abilities but with her criminal background, there was likely some good reason for such confidence. Giving a more serious look for a moment, her tone reflecting this she asked her friend the same thing as he her, ”Are you sure you are up for this, you could get in a lot of trouble and being in the military you could get in a lot more trouble than some civilian would you know…” It was sad she couldn’t keep the straight attitude throughout the whole statement, reaching a more taunting sing-songy way of speaking by the end. The third member of this party sat patiently and fully aware of the pairs general intentions, looking up at the sky and judging the time by the lighting, his tails swishes increasing in force and speed as he began to become impatient due to the best time for success nearing. ”Nyyyyaaa, Mrrrmmmmm!” He announced to express the importance that the young ones pay attention to himself, then when the pair did look at him, he let off a second rumble in the back of his throat standing up on all fours with a circling stretch. Finally after a long stretch and kicking his legs as they vibrated a little in turn, the cat beginning to walk away, pausing to look over at the other two and make one more insistent vocalization.
”Well, I guess we should make up our mind so, Kaze is insistent that we should get going if we want to best chances of success. He will show us where we are entering so let’s follow!” She informed her friend who could likely have deduced enough of this for himself, Nabi pointing at the feline as he looked back and let out a single loud and demanding meow at them. As the pair would begin following the cat the blue hair lass paced at her friends side, looking at the bento he carried with a bit of curiosity and want, her heightened sense of smell making its delicious contents quite alluring, causing her to ask a question she likely already knew but needed the confirmation and extra details. ”Speaking of why we are here, what did ya happen to make Ryuji, did you do something new with your cooking maybe?” The words were spoken quietly but with obvious interest, Nabi leaning in close to her friends side to the point her shoulder and arm was pressed against his own as she partially leant on him, though not enough that either could be unbalanced, one hand reaching out and tapping the Bentos lid with the tip of her nails.

Shinji’s elated confirmation coaxed an eager shout of human diction from Chouki, ”there!” Sure sounded like she could’ve barked. The dog tore from the throne and balanced herself upright on her hind legs with sights glued to Unki. Her front, furry paws dangling at rest against her. ”See! Easy!” The dog passed a bright eyed glance to Shinji. ”He wants to be friends! I’m ready! Just say the word!” Unki’s reply to Chouki feigns ignorance in both expression and voice with arched brows, and a wide-eyed look, “say the word for what?” Then finally beamed a cheeky smile to Shinji, as if she was roping him into a joke the dog was too hyped to see. “He can be friends with us, right?” The question was left hanging with all intention to answer with patience, something neither Unki or Chouki innately had. On this note, Unki planted her feet together, stood, palms clasped together, and took one long step away from the throne. Chouki’s yammering suddenly picked up again, ”Oh! No no no! Unki! Let me teach him! Please! I’ll teach him! Please!” This might have been one of those instances where a talking dog wasn't all that great. Sophistication and prim behavior wasn't a promise for some of the mystic canines. With yammering came hopping and Unki’s continual efforts to ignore Chouki’s plea as the woman stretched one arm over the other. “Mr. Shinji needs to see how humans do this.”“I can tell him all the finger seals! Hop. Hop. "a-and get the scroll out for you!" Hop! Hop! Leaving Chouki’s side, Unki descended the little flight of stairs to finally become level with Shinji. Unki was a couple inches shorter than Shinji. In fact, he could probably see the top of her head. “Oh look, you’re about as tall as Shiro-chan!” she added, giggling quietly as a glittery look came to her eyes. “A-hee! You looked shorter up from there! Okay okay! ” She clapped her hands together, took a deep breath, and whirled through the hand signs for summoning. A tall, ornate bronze scroll case dropped onto the floor beside them with a noisy, hulking clunk. The top of the case was marked by a hound-like Shishi. A glowing look of pride on her face came through a big toothy grin. “Hee hee! I’ve never done this before!” Unki wanted to only savor the moment for her first contract. She took to her knee and pulled out the length of a massive paper scroll, hand over hand. Chouki, meanwhile, had finally stopped hopping and trotted her offended self to Unki’s side and plopped right down beside her. Tight-lipped and tail tucked out of sight until the little dog otherwise tightly said, ”i won’t stand for this.” Unki was busy pushing, pulling, and placing the scroll on the floor to present it “just right” for Shinji and cooing at Chouki to lie down.
“There we go!” Unki smiled through a cheer as she dusted her palms together. “Do you have a knife, Mr. Shinji? It isn’t pretty but the name of the game is cutting your finger- or fingers- open enough to sign your name.” It was a mended scroll. At some point in time, the dogs had worked the scroll to remove whole portions of paper to discard names. The listing was presently minimal, boasting one entry. “Honestly, these whole silly contract deals forget about the power of properly clotting tissue!“
tab Though it didn't seem the most sincere of apologies, Ryuji chose not to pursue the matter any further. Besides, as Kaze keenly reminded them, they had more important matters at hand. Turning to face the citadel with the others, Ryuji listened to Nabi as she explained the prep work for the mission, scoping out the place to formulate a plan of entry. Though part of him felt guilty for dragging her into his scheme, he really was thankful to have her support in the endeavor. Without her expertise, there was little chance he could ever pull something like this off.
tab He was a bit surprised when Nabi threw his earlier question back at him, asking him if he was sure he wanted to go through with the operation. It was a fair question though. After all, they were risking a lot, breaking into the citadel just so that he could present his food to the empress. However, his resolve was firm. Everyone knew of Lady Unki's legendary pallet and if he could her approval on his cooking, it was a sure fire way to pave the role to achieve his culinary dreams. "Yeah. I'm sure. Let's do this." he replied with a swift nod.
tab Following Kaze's lead, Ryuji stuck close behind Nabi as the trio made their way to the opening that the feline had scouted for them. Upon being asked about the contents of the bento he'd prepared for the occasion, he gave smug grin. "Oh? Curious about what I've prepared? I pulled out all the stops and made my signature Flaming Dragon Roll. I also made a side of takoyaki and fried calamari. This is dish is gonna blow the empress's taste buds away. Just you watch." he replied proudly, though he made sure to keep his voice as low as possible. The last thing he wanted to do was draw attention to them, especially that of the guards.

▱▰▱Civilians of Kumoito would see a group of ten Hyuga guards in a marching formation. They wore white armor with royal blue cloth draped around. These skyguards carried the sigil of the Pale Citadel. Four skyguards marched ahead of who was unmistakably Kenshin Hyuga. However, he was not alone as walking by his side was a woman who also wore white raimants. In comparison to his regal surroundings, Kenshin wore a starkly simple all-black overcoat, leggings, and heavy boots. The only hint of color was a white cravat and the symbol of the lightning Hyuga clan. Marching behind Kenshin and Ada were the other six skyguards. As the group of Hyuga approached the Kumoimine Keep in the center of the Cloud, Ada pointed at a building and smiled. "Dear, look. It's hard to believe it's been so long since we met in the old KPD offices over there." Kenshin's pale eyes followed her extended digit. He smiled as fond memories accompanied the view of the building. A smile from Kenshin? A rare sight indeed. He gently grabbed her hand as they continued walking.
▱▰▱Kenshin did not want to be an intrusion so he stopped walking outside of the front entrance to the grand palace of the Lightning Empire that he cherished so much. Unfortunately, his guards were told otherwise by his wife prior to their departure from the Pale Citadel before they met with Kenshin outside of the city after his departure from Arashigakure. The guards holding the sigils at the front began firmly banging the bottom of the poles into the ground beneath them. "Grant entry for Kenshin Hyuga of the Tenseigan, Lord of the Nohara Region, Sannin of Arashigakure, and Champion of Evergreen!" All ten of the skyguards shouted in unison. All outside of the palace would be able to hear them list off their lord's titles. Perhaps even some within the keep would hear their proud pronouncements. Kenshin rubbed his eyes with his available hand as Ada giggled. "You know I hate that. I'm not a damned peacock." He mumbled in a low tone as Ada playfully pat his shoulder. "Just let us be proud of you!" Ada knew that this was all a part of the game. She tried to explain this to her humble husband but she understood his hesitation. They did not need to make such a showing of power for the emperor and empress, but it was necessary to cement their place with the other members of nobility who surrounded them outside of the Kumoimine Keep. The couple would remain outside until invited in by a guard, attendant, or whoever Unki desired. Kenshin lowered his hand as he felt certain that even Unki could hear his guards' shouting in vocal unison. He only relaxed when he felt Ada gently kiss his cheek while they waited.

This concussive blast has a range of five feet per rank of the parent technique. In addition, deafness is applied upon impact for two posts. ▱▰▱ Tsunami of Justice | Kenshin gains access to the water element. ▱▰▱ Ionic Blade | The user's bukijutsu and basic combat weapon strikes may be made complex to add their lightning element to the attacks. This causes tiered paralysis on contact equal to the rank of the technique it is paired with. ▱▰▱ Blessings of Valor | As a world-famous hero, you are forever bestowed with an extra reward in arc, timeskip, and guildwide events. ▱▰▱ Short-Circuiting Juken | For an additional amount of chakra that is half of the amount spent for the original technique, Hatake chidori raiton can be applied to complex juken techniques to inject the enemy's body with lightning. The Hatake's chidori raiton inflicts a tier of full-body paralysis that is equivalent to the technique's rank up to the second tier. This paralysis lasts for two posts per rank of the technique at a maximum of six posts. Applying Chidori chakra to the Juken consumes a second offensive activation. ▱▰▱ Storm Sage | Lightning techniques cast while in sage mode and when enhanced by nature chakra burn brighter and inflict a tier of blindness that is equivalent to the technique's rank. When the katana was reworked to its fullest potential it had the abilities of his own weapon in addition to incredible lightning abilities. ▰ Ability Summary: Righteous Sword of the Sentinel [ Senchineru no Seigi no Ken ] | Rank E | Bloodline | Spiritual All forms of Hyuuga techniques including the gentle fist can be used through the sword for the 10 posts that this technique is active. This means that strikes involving the blade cause physical damage including stab wounds as well as seal tenketsu points and any other effects of the technique used through the sword. An additional 5 chakra can be applied to the blade to prevent it from causing physical damage from thrusting but instead seal tenketsu points and inflict pain similar to a stab wound in the area struck but slashing attacks can still cause damage. Half the resource cost of techniques from the rapier style of Sen Gekiretsu Nagareboshi applied allows the technique to carry the tenketsu sealing effects of a same-rank palm strike such as a B-Rank carrying 64 Palms effects. Getsuruito must be in its rapier form to use this ability and 5 chakra can be spent upon activation of this technique to transform it as such. The Righteous Sword of the Sentinel technique has a 10 post duration before necessitating re-activation and costs an E-Rank amount of chakra. The initial activation of this technique consumes an action but all subsidiary abilities of the technique do not.
Smiting Blade of the Night Watch [ Naitō Otchi no Sumittinguburēdo ] | Rank X | Bukijutsu [ Lightning ] | Spiritual When this technique is activated it crackles violently with night blue lightning for the entire duration. The electricity from the blade also forms bolts of lightning over the body of the user and appears to supercharge them. Whenever the blade is swung or thrust over the duration the user can fire a concentrated blast of ten bolts of lightning to accompany the strike equal to the rank applied but for only half the cost to initiate the technique. Hatake, Raiu, and Sage enhanced lightning can pass through the blade and apply to these lightning bolts. The bolts cause a thunderously deafening sonic boom and can inflict tier 2 burns upon direct contact with the lightning. Additionally, these lightning bolts can be freely applied to all complex bukijutsu for no action cost to smite enemies. The only action cost is when the technique is activated and all subsidiary abilities of the technique do not consume actions and only chakra. This ability can be used in both forms of Getsuruito.
Draconic Sabre of Moon Sundering [ Getsu Sandaringu no Dorakonikku Seibā ] | Rank X | Bukijutsu [ Lightning ] | Complex This is the original ability of the ancient Getsuruito blade and thus requires the original katana form. 5 chakra can be spent to transform the blade to its original form upon activation of this technique. Crackling and thunderous dark blue lightning can be applied to the katana's edge at any rank and the same lightning can form a dragon head formed from electricity over the body of the user for 10 posts. This allows all spiritual techniques the sword comes into contact with to be slashed through and even cut in half at the same rank despite the complex nature of the technique. For half of the original cost to activate the technique a same-rank spiritual electrical energy slash can be sent out from the slash of the blade. This same cost can be applied to any complex bukijutsu to achieve the same effect. The original 10 post activation of this ability consumes an action but all subsidiary abilities do not.
The interaction he had observed between Unki and Chouki was, for lack of a better term, comical from Shinji's perspective. His affirmation towards intended friendship seemed to have filled Chouki with a sense of elation and excitement, while the Empress reacted to her familiar with feigned ignorance. Even he fell for her joke until she flashed him a smile. The longer he was in her presence, the more he realized that his ideas on what she would be like were completely wrong. While the white haired shinobi was inwardly just as excited as Chouki was, he pushed those feelings to the side for now. Shinji agreed with Unki; it would be more informative to see how a human approached the contract signing process. Though….
'Was she always this… short?' A light blush crept into Shinji's cheeks, and his eyes grew a bit wider as the empress sat across from him. He was already struggling with maintaining a formal composure, but now, with the empress much closer than before, he was nervous that she would see through his forced posture and mannerisms. Whether that would be a good or bad thing was up for debate. On one hand, he could relax more, but on the other… his position demanded a certain level of discipline, and a level of deception beyond that. In all fairness, neither of those were necessarily formal in nature, but it did bring a measure of concern to his mind in relation to his overall ability to maintain either of those traits.
Being compared to Shiro, even if it was only a matter of height, was admittedly a high point for him. In Shinji's mind it was a compliment, being compared to someone in a position of power, in any capacity, was rare in his life. He carefully watched the hand signs she rapidly weaved, resulting in a scroll much larger than he was used to seeing, appearing beside them. Shinji stared at the hound-shaped shishi after he noticed it. He had come across a number of scrolls in his time, but this one was by far the most unique he had seen. Unki's cheeriness was rather infectious now that she was closer. His nerves seemed to be subdued in the wake of her bubbly personality, the redness in his face fading away and his eyes losing their widened state.
Shinji wondered briefly about the history of this contract as Unki set about unfurling its contents. Surely there had to have been more than just this single entry, but exactly how many was the question. A query for another time. For now he focused on the subject at hand. "So I need to write my name in my blood?" Shinji patted his clothing, checking to see if he had a kunai or other bladed instrument hidden away. He made a clicking noise with his tongue. "Well," he began a response, placing his hands near his waist as if he were preparing to unsheath a sword from the empty air. "If I was a few years younger, clotting tissue wouldn't be an issue. Hey! That rhymed."
An ethereal blade suddenly came into existence in his hand, oriented so that it would extend behind him and away from the empress. He traced his dominant hand along the blue, slightly transparent blade, pressing the tip of his index finger into the edge to draw blood from it. He winced slightly at the experience. "Man, I thought I'd be more used to that," he muttered, mostly to himself. Shinji glanced at Unki for confirmation before he set his bloody finger against the paper to scribe his name. After the last couple of lines were written, he removed his hand and lightly shook it in front of him. "Okay, so what do I do next?" He heard some sort of announcement being made by the palace guards regarding an arrival, though he didn't quite catch the name.
She catapulted herself off the table, rolling into a ball before sticking to the building wall like some sort of spider. A four limb spider, a pink haired spider, either way it wasn't necessarily called for. She doubted that those beside her, though from her perspective, those along the "wall" from her were impressed by this.
However, to this Kunoichi, this recent graduate, Kini, this wasn't her displaying how cool it is to run along walls because of Chakra, or as her "Family" calls it, Ninja Magic. No, to Kini, this was about a goal, a challenge that she set out for herself and a challenge that she was driven to accomplish.
Exactly ten, eleven, twelve feet ahead of her was a small creature. All white in fur that made it look more like a ball than an actual feline, but despite that it was still fast and agile, those exact features that Kini was searching for. The perfect agile creature against her own agility, an excellent opponent.
"Our battle will be legendary!" She howled out, vaulting over AC units, potted plants, and the few who stuck their heads out in curiosity. She apologized.
Jumped off the wall and into the main road, weaving through pedestrians like water flowing through a canal. From time to time it became harder to actually spot the little critter, the masses of bodies becoming a tad bit overwhelming from time to time.
Each corner was a new avenue and while she wasn't entirely new to this area, she hadn't actually grown up here either. Scaling the buildings was an option and running along the walls as well, was useful, but relying on those two skills for the entirety of this challenge felt like cheating.
She took a hard turn, shoulder slamming into a concrete wall decorated in neon paint. Fresh paint and it's on her clothes now. "Damn.." Her hair also. "s**t.."
A grin found home on her face because the newly acquired paint job was the least of her concern. The cat wasn't in sight anymore, no, all she could see now is graffiti and eyes that bared knives.
Kini wasn't sure what exactly brought attention towards her, some could argue it was her taste in color pallets. Those bright pink and soft white were quick to draw attention. It could be her personality, even while being stared down by groupies and solos, Kini kept a smirk and an almost inviting atmosphere. A little back alley scuffle was welcomed exercise and given their appearance, likely warranted.
Every step she took felt like walking in ice thinner than paper. Each of them were waiting and looking for an excuse to satiate their violent nature. Yet nobody acted.
Kini isn't an intimidating person, while athletic in physique she still had a rather slender external appearance. Intimidation wasn't what kept them in place and their eyes, focused like lasers on a plate of silver metal held by a pastel cream cloth wrapped around her forehead. The universal badge of a graduated Ninja. The universal language of a threat not to be crossed lightly was all that kept them in line.
"If you don't like what you see, put a bag over your head." Scowls and scoff was all that she was replied with as she strolled through the alleyway, eyes darting for fur of the white variety until she spotted it. Cozening up and rubbing its body against a thrown out mattress. "No little fur ball, don't befriend the mattress you don't know what's been on it!" And the chase resumed.
There was a point where she should've stopped and turned back, but the line was already crossed at this point. Her reward had snuck into Kumoimine Keep and Kini wasn't gifted with a small and convenient body for sneaking about.
Instead, Kini made her way towards the guard and did what she does best. There was no attempt at stopping now, not when she was so close to catching it. So, she ran, ran straight towards the main gate and with a decent boost from her chakra aimed to leap over the gates. Screaming out.
"I'll be out real quick, I just gotta grab this cat!"
"The next part is generally simple. If you're familiar with the summoning technique, that is." Unki’s kneel turned into a seat. Her hand moved to palm a sheathed knife she had hidden from the hem of her dress. A small knife, at that, and plain in appearance, was set aside. Something almost alike to kitchen cutlery or a letter opener. Her attention, still, returning to Shinji all the while and onward with her briefing: "Now that you've formed a blood pact with the dogs you will follow through the summoning with the intent to call on them."
With care in her motion, Unki proceeded to present a slow succession of hand seals: Boar, Dog, Bird, Monkey, Ram. A mock finale topped the demonstration with a gentle gesturing of her flat palm open toward the floor. "Like that!" If her eyes could only sparkle. "The other most important detail is that this variety of summoning calls for your blood," Unki pointed to Shinji’s bloodied print, "on that hand whenever you're going to call them! Always remember, " she shook her fists, rhythmically to a sportive chant. ”Animals want blood!”
"You need the intent, right amount of energy, and your blood! Now, real thing!"
It was an Unki clone that took the brunt of her demonstration. One Empress became two with a few handseals and the knife was exchanged seamlessly without the two Unki ever making eye contact. The most energy the dolled up clone had was enough to follow through with the blood summoning ritual and as the second Empress gave up her form in a breath of smoke leaving the shape of something much larger in her place. A grey, horse sized Great Dane remains towering beside them. Chouki, who still hadn’t moved from her spot, echoed a possessive yapping complaint. "Why DID YOU summon TAKEMARU?!" And it was as if the call of his name brought Takamaru to life. His floppy grey ears suddenly pivoting on Chouki’s complaint. He stands rigidly, proudly, and takes a great, snorting whiff of the air around him. His massive tail began to wag before a softened look came into the beast’s eyes and blinked with his attention turning to Shinji. “Are you making a deal with us?”The scent of the new signer’s blood found a slight sense of worry. Takamaru lowered his head over the scroll into Shinji’s reach. A piteous look came in the dog's eyes on the hope Shinji was another friend to scratch behind his ears.
It was here, from his standoff-ish space, that the expanse of the room carried the presence of one on-looker who (generally) kept quiet in this exchange. His informal introduction of approaching bootsteps tapping the floor until he met the back of the throne. "Now don't let me interrupt. It seems that Kenshin has arrived outside." It was a line of news stirring a squeak out of Unki. Her attention peels off the dogs to look up at the main entrance of the room."Huh? He's here? Outside outside?”" Then behind her, "did you invite him? Did I forget about something again? How long has he been there? Were you watching?" She trampled his simple statement with questions a plenty which some Shiro had been able to avoid as his smile curled with warmth. "I didn't invite him this time. Dear, it was announced. He took an informal repose against the side of the decorated, formal chair as his glance idly swept to the little bows on Chouki’s ears. "Have I ever known him to make frequent social visits? Incredibly rare if any were to come to memory. If I had to guess, I imagine he may have something to discuss that’s relevant to the world crisis." The emperor pausing the start of what could have been a long-winded ramble just long enough to unclip a black, feathered hat from his hip. Instead of an infamous spiel, he offered a sentiment of comfort as he pressed the official-looking headwear. "But don't fret on that now, darling. He'll be along, I'm sure. " "You… you aren't going to meet him?" "He'll be along,” he said, adjustings the brim of his hat and smiled still.”I’m not going anywhere. " The dog below him scoffed, "lazy…"
Shinji watched the Empress as she performed a faux summoning technique. ”That seems…. Simple enough, I guess,” he said. Though, why the sage creatures required a blood pact to summon them was a question circling his mind. It was most likely the product of some ancient ritual he wasn’t aware of. Something of little importance for now, Shinji pushed the thoughts away. Unki’s enthusiasm over this process was infectious. When she chanted, he felt the need to shake his fists with her, though the timing was noticeably out of sync. The arrival and subsequent dispersal of a second Empress, after performing a live demonstration, left a sense of shock with the shinobi when he saw the creature she left behind.
Chouki didn’t seem too thrilled about the arrival of the abnormally large dane. ”Takemaru? That must be your name then, it’s a pleasure to meet you!” Shinji’s eyes beamed with excitement as the large dog bent towards him. ”I am,” he responded, placing a hand gently on top of Takemaru’s massive head and brushing back to scratch behind his ears. ”Are there any conditions to the contract that I should know about?” His question was directed at both of the canine’s that were present, as well as Unki.
The incoming echoes of boots against the floor drew his attention away from the present company, especially after the arriving individual spoke a sentence that sent a chill deep into Shinji’s core. ”Lord K-Kenshin?” Of course, the sannin likely had no idea who this white-haired chunin was, but being outside of Arashigakure given what had transpired recently, and without express permission to top it all off… Shinji released a deep sigh. ’At least that means the village is stable for now.’ His gray eyes scanned the form of the man who was now resting against the throne. ’So this is the emperor, Shiro. It seems that neither are quite what I expected them to be like.’ The mention of the crisis that the world was facing currently was a good point. It was possible that Kenshin simply was visiting for an update on the Jashinist threat. He smiled and turned his attention back to Takemaru, still lightly scratching and petting the large pooch. ”I’m sure it’s something like that.”
tab It was touch and go. There were at least three guards behind the visiting procession urgently signaling at Kini to stop as she came into their sights. This was a regulated political centerpiece with combat ready structures, defenses, its own isolated gardens, and seconds as someone's home. Kumoimine saw calm, civility, organized pandemonium, presently taking in the arrival of one gallant noble, and company, from the Nohara region. The party of skyguards were met quickly by a small group with the Keep's former Steward in the lead. A sun-kissed, blond headed palace official who was often the embodiment of smiles who was announced only by a flicker of sunlight rolling off a round, metal badge against his breast. Ujitoki signaled the entry under the same scope of rigid formalities that tacked a trail of titles on the Hyūga's name. He mumbled to himself a joke about needing good doilies now, stepped forward, and took a courteous bow. It was the beginning of his address to the esteemed Lord and lady.
The urgent call of one gate guard to Kini caught Ujitoki's attention, "Stop stop stop!" In a voice that reached the front. "Come back!" The cat had artfully snuck its way in, nearing the back of the Skyguard procession. Keep Guards trying to keep their wits tracking Kini, others trying to shoo the cat back into the direction it came, and others taking liberties to catch one four-legged intruder. With Jashinists reportedly causing trouble, some couldn't help but be on edge. The palace official looked up amidst his bow. His sights wide and barreling looking through the Sky guests. He cracked a grin, stood upright, and rolled his sleeves, “I do hope you'll excuse the noise, Sir Kenshin." He cracked his knuckles. "Just another cloudy day in the dark press's happy hunting grounds. Either someone is in for a surprise sludge storm or the tabloids are finally getting SMART!” He stretched his arms out and shouted over the procession, “c’mere PRETTY KITTY!”

He gave a knowing glance to the skyguard who gave the loud introduction of him moments earlier. "Do you know if the empress is available for an audience soon? We have things to discuss." He gave a vague description of his reason for visiting the Kumoimine Keep before Ada cheerfully chimed in a moment later. "As well as some delightful news to share!" Ada squeaked up and had trouble containing her excitement. She wanted to share the news of her pregnancy with Unki, knowing that she would be just as excited and that it would grow the friendship between the two women even further.

Smiting Blade of the Night Watch [ Naitō Otchi no Sumittinguburēdo ] | Rank X | Bukijutsu [ Lightning ] | Spiritual When this technique is activated it crackles violently with night blue lightning for the entire duration. The electricity from the blade also forms bolts of lightning over the body of the user and appears to supercharge them. Whenever the blade is swung or thrust over the duration the user can fire a concentrated blast of ten bolts of lightning to accompany the strike equal to the rank applied but for only half the cost to initiate the technique. Hatake, Raiu, and Sage enhanced lightning can pass through the blade and apply to these lightning bolts. The bolts cause a thunderously deafening sonic boom and can inflict tier 2 burns upon direct contact with the lightning. Additionally, these lightning bolts can be freely applied to all complex bukijutsu for no action cost to smite enemies. The only action cost is when the technique is activated and all subsidiary abilities of the technique do not consume actions and only chakra. This ability can be used in both forms of Getsuruito.
Draconic Sabre of Moon Sundering [ Getsu Sandaringu no Dorakonikku Seibā ] | Rank X | Bukijutsu [ Lightning ] | Complex This is the original ability of the ancient Getsuruito blade and thus requires the original katana form. 5 chakra can be spent to transform the blade to its original form upon activation of this technique. Crackling and thunderous dark blue lightning can be applied to the katana's edge at any rank and the same lightning can form a dragon head formed from electricity over the body of the user for 10 posts. This allows all spiritual techniques the sword comes into contact with to be slashed through and even cut in half at the same rank despite the complex nature of the technique. For half of the original cost to activate the technique a same-rank spiritual electrical energy slash can be sent out from the slash of the blade. This same cost can be applied to any complex bukijutsu to achieve the same effect. The original 10 post activation of this ability consumes an action but all subsidiary abilities do not.
Normally someone would immediately come to regret the decision of breaching a clearly civilian restricted zone, it made sense because of the high level of security that patrolled the site, and it was even more obvious when said security were clearly asking and downright commanding said, quote intruder, unquote. That’s a normal thought. To Kini, this wasn’t a normal situation, this was an opportunity. From the crack of dawn she’s been at this, chasing cats until the right one could bring a challenge and her current feline opponent taught her well.
Like slippery noodle, Kini vaulted over and slid under the security team's attempt at capturing their unwanted guest. For a moment, Kini was practically moving like a cat, a less furry, more pink, and louder cat.
“It’ll be just a second, can’t you guys like, I dunno, just wait a few!?” She groaned with hands pressed on the back of a falling and failing guard, appropriately using him as an object to leap off and into her next point and with a gentle thud, she stopped in a crouch on a nearby rooftop. Beneath, a swarm of angered and frustrated guards already making their way towards her, some faster than others, many more furious than the rest. Yet Kini remained calm with wide eyes, almost as if she was in perpetual shock.
Hours upon hours of chasing the most elusive felines in her village had taught her how they move, how they react, and how they think. This was another, perfect, opportunity to put what she had learned into practice. The guards moving towards her weren’t obstacles, but platforms that she could use to navigate through. Her focus snapped from one group to another like switching frames, guards coming for her, guards coming for her furry-foe.
From a crouch she sprung into action with explosive determination, the air would’ve trembled if not for her mortal restraints, but instead, the tiles of the rooftop fractured beneath her sudden charge. Her action seemed sudden but trained witnesses would be quick to realize that her motion simply flowed together. From a crouch, she planted both palms on the roof tiles and pushed her elbow into her abdomen. For that brief moment it looked like she was floating as she spun and extended her legs, kicked, then fired forward like some sort of pink-haired bullet.
She bounced off one guard, ricocheted off a wall, slid underneath a duo before finally slamming shoulder first into a wall with her feline opponent in hand.
“It worked?” She mumbled through a fit of coughing and while her shoulder stung, feeling like a thousand bullet ants were actively enjoying a thanksgiving dinner, the cat on the other hand didn’t seem to be in pain. Frustrated at its capture that it flailed and hissed about, yes, hurt? No, but more importantly.
“Holy s**t it worked! I’m a bloody freaking genius!!!!!” She howled as she shot up to her feet, raising the now terrified cat like a prize under a grand spotlight, but that excitement was cut short at the sudden and overbearing voice that just snatched her and practically anyone who fell victim to it. It demanded attention.
Kini’s lips quickly curved at the recall of “Pretty Kitty” and glared at the exhausted cat. “You never told me you were a celebrity, I would’ve bought you some snacks.”
Masanori had a lot on his mind, returning back to this place. Part of him didn't even want to come back after how he acted last time. He had plenty of time to think it over, and he had finally come to the conclusion that storming out probably wasn't the best idea. Still, Ujitoki's stern warning stuck with him throughout his rage, and he went along to make a little something of himself while taking care of his mother. Who, unfortunately had grown sick with worry as days continued to pass without any news of Noriko. This was the only other thing that channeled his anger in the right direction, spurring him to progress in his strength that would be notably different from his first visit in the palace.
Much to the young Hatake's displeasure, there was quite the crowd present. He'd wait his turn, with a pink Shiba Inu in tow, who's tail hadn't stopped wagging like a propeller since picking up the scent of his favorite blonde-haired friend. Other scents lingered, which Masanori picked up, more prominently, the scent of cats that caused him to glance around the room for a moment in an attempt to spot them. He didn't entertain this for long, returning his attention ahead, with an ever-present gloomy expression on his face.
Shinji’s stammer over Kenshin’s name blatantly amused the Emperor, "the one and only.” It was his only commentary. The Great Dane’s delight was taking center stage as the thump of his tail sounded off on the marble floor. A relaxed look came to his eyes as he wedged in a reply to Shinji’s previous question.“The most outstanding or so condition you oughta’ remember is that if you ever call on me, I am yours until whatever you need me for is done. And don’t be afraid to call on me for anything, now, I’ll be the last to complain if all you ever want is a pal to join you for a good walk.” The dog sighs, finally, relishing the moment. “That is, unless, she needs me.” Chouki chimed in again. She stamped her front paws and snorted. “But she’s got ME, thank you very much.” If you looked in the dictionary and looked up jealous one might find a scribble of Chouki. “The dogs of Inusekai seem just about as devout as the rumors go for mythical sage animals. Miss Tsubaki shared something important with me that I suppose is worth sharing with you. She said, that a battered dog who lives in fear of you will be of use.” On that note, the woman shrugged and bit her lip. “I just wish…” she added carefully as her sights wandered off to the side. I could remember the rest…”

The official was addressed by the Lord and Lady and as his attention piqued. He looked at them and hurried to produce a clone. He was splitting his attention in two. He had a job to do but he felt obligated to speak something like a chiding to the cat-chasing kunoichi. Ujitoki gave his clone a candid booting to the backside, pushing his double to forward to talk with Kini, as he folded his own hands behind his back to hastily collect a refined facade for the Lord and Lady. He would be damned before he’d be caught bickering between himself about which task to take. ”Of course,” he pipes and gestures for the small, immediate party to proceed forward, ” and I do believe I know just where she is." This means that strikes involving the blade cause physical damage including stab wounds as well as seal tenketsu points and any other effects of the technique used through the sword. An additional 5 chakra can be applied to the blade to prevent it from causing physical damage from thrusting but instead seal tenketsu points and inflict pain similar to a stab wound in the area struck but slashing attacks can still cause damage. Half the resource cost of techniques from the rapier style of Sen Gekiretsu Nagareboshi applied allows the technique to carry the tenketsu sealing effects of a same-rank palm strike such as a B-Rank carrying 64 Palms effects. Getsuruito must be in its rapier form to use this ability and 5 chakra can be spent upon activation of this technique to transform it as such. The Righteous Sword of the Sentinel technique has a 10 post duration before necessitating re-activation and costs an E-Rank amount of chakra. The initial activation of this technique consumes an action but all subsidiary abilities of the technique do not.
Smiting Blade of the Night Watch [ Naitō Otchi no Sumittinguburēdo ] | Rank X | Bukijutsu [ Lightning ] | Spiritual When this technique is activated it crackles violently with night blue lightning for the entire duration. The electricity from the blade also forms bolts of lightning over the body of the user and appears to supercharge them. Whenever the blade is swung or thrust over the duration the user can fire a concentrated blast of ten bolts of lightning to accompany the strike equal to the rank applied but for only half the cost to initiate the technique. Hatake, Raiu, and Sage enhanced lightning can pass through the blade and apply to these lightning bolts. The bolts cause a thunderously deafening sonic boom and can inflict tier 2 burns upon direct contact with the lightning. Additionally, these lightning bolts can be freely applied to all complex bukijutsu for no action cost to smite enemies. The only action cost is when the technique is activated and all subsidiary abilities of the technique do not consume actions and only chakra. This ability can be used in both forms of Getsuruito.
Draconic Sabre of Moon Sundering [ Getsu Sandaringu no Dorakonikku Seibā ] | Rank X | Bukijutsu [ Lightning ] | Complex This is the original ability of the ancient Getsuruito blade and thus requires the original katana form. 5 chakra can be spent to transform the blade to its original form upon activation of this technique. Crackling and thunderous dark blue lightning can be applied to the katana's edge at any rank and the same lightning can form a dragon head formed from electricity over the body of the user for 10 posts. This allows all spiritual techniques the sword comes into contact with to be slashed through and even cut in half at the same rank despite the complex nature of the technique. For half of the original cost to activate the technique a same-rank spiritual electrical energy slash can be sent out from the slash of the blade. This same cost can be applied to any complex bukijutsu to achieve the same effect. The original 10 post activation of this ability consumes an action but all subsidiary abilities do not.
Well, this was situation that was a screw in her day and now Kini has to figure how to handle this situation. The Kunoichi’s attention didn’t immediately shift to where Ujitoki’s thumb pointed, at first it was her immediate surrounding. The guards who were chasing her. There were thoughts that ran through her head, the first of them being. Crude… This isn’t good. And the following being. Oh crap… I’m definitely not supposed to be here. And that fact couldn’t be anymore, well, factual. There were obvious red flags, the chasing guard was one painted crimson but her focus was an issue. Now she has to deal with this, cat in hand, political body in front and way too many professionals everywhere.
Kini arched forward to place the now frantic kitten down, it didn’t run away surprisingly and sat down beside her as it stretched, returned back to its sitting position and stared up at the two seemingly invested in this human interaction. Kini, herself, returned her attention back to Ujitoki. There was a noticeable moment of silence from the Kunoichi as her eyes continuously darted about, from Ujitoki to the guards, back to Ujitoki, towards where he had pointed, towards the ground, to Kenshin, and finally back to Ujitoki. She smirked. Inhaled.
“Okay, just like, hear me out real quick.” She took a deep breath. “So! Hi, I’m Kini Lörghren and like, I wanted to see if I could keep up with a cat today, well not a cat, more like a couple dozen. There was like, a lot of them. They’re super evasive. I found this one over here.” She paused, pointed at the relaxed white-fur cat beside her. “She’s great, super mobile and thought me a bunch of cool maneuvers. Have you ever chased a cat before? Let me tell you, it’s freaking fun when they’re like jumping around and squeezing into corners, really trains you in finding a different way of catching them. Honestly, I did like an amazing job, like did you see what I just did there? Pretty cool, right?” With her hands placed on her hips, Kini’s brow rose. A thought repeated itself.
“Hold up, did you just say Kenshin? Like, the Kenshin? Big dude? Ya’ joking right?” Her interest was piqued, even as she spoke she attempted to peer over Ujitoki’s shoulder to see Kenshin and even jumping slightly to gain a better view. “Dude.” She paused, stepped forward and reached for Ujitoki’s wrist to palm them between her own. “Please.” She bloomed with enthusiasm and excitement. “You have got to introduce me to him, I’m begging you here. Do you have any idea how long I’ve been waiting to meet him! Please, just for a few minutes. Please?”
