Looking as stiff as a board, he gave a tight lipped, regretful look to Unki who returned with a hardened, stone cold stare. Shiro was still caught up in his frustration over the chatter of savage zealots terrorizing the territories. He smirked, “be biased all you'd like if that's what it takes to keep your head on straight and focused. A death god's violent field day in the city, Waterfall, Frost, and Hotspring; feasible doomsday, Inshous' crimes and Kenshin's compliance to battle the end times devise themselves as a recipe built for burdening the bold. A time when deploying strategies against anti-shinobi factions with wild war machines factions now felt like juvenile antics. What a frightful time to bear children. Wit and severity wane in Shiro's demeanor for a respiring lament for another moment of peace and his attention turns to Unki. Just to admire her. A tender yet weary, lulling look in his chalky blue eyes laid away only for Unki's direction. His frown mending into a smile for the time Shiro was toying with silky strands of Unki's hair.
"I won't stop you. If you want to peel more radicals out of the picture, be my guest, Kenshin. Maybe you'll find it-" a pause slipping in his train of thought halted the word therapeutic . Aggression and outrage weren’t necessarily the default replies for just any and everyone when tensions were steady on high heat. Some of Shiro’s vices were best not encouraged. “ "-As a rewarding change of pace, I suppose,” His attention intermittently drifting back to Unki enabling a timely pause. Much to Chouki’s dissatisfaction, Unki nudged one blatantly offended dog off her lap and pushed up from her seat. Shiro's tone became more consoling, understanding, to a degree. The emperor could only imagine a burden of such immense proportion. After all, Kenshin was charged to address more than just the nations of Shiro’s empire. However heavy it must have been, Kenshin managed to wear the responsibility gallantly. They were still human with fragile bodies, hearts, and minds; some of the human race are more deceptive than others at hiding their humanity. Shiro, even Unki, were certainly no stranger to limitations and could collectively contemplate some inkling of the struggle one Champion of Evergreen was tasked with overtaking. ”I imagine a man can only be level-headed for so long when he's the voice to warn us of a forthcoming doom."“Go on," Unki piped over the pause in conversation. She cut a path behind the sofa, produced a fan from her collar, and began briskly shooing Ujitoki away. “Go get Mister Kenshin his extra help.” The ambiguous task of fetching assistance paired so suddenly with not-so gentle, generic instructions had the orange clad cousin slowly backing out of the room, nodding. He had the heart to only be accommodating to a temperamental, pregnant woman practically made of fire. Although, Ujitoki didn’t hide just how confused he was. He passed glances over the esteemed guests, Shiro, and cautiously over Unki until he zipped out of sight. “Dearest, did you chase him off for Kenshin and Ada’s sake?” “No! There’s really and truly someone he needs to wrangle up for work. Uji-chan may be a big dummy but he’s a very capable big dummy.” How Unki ungraciously described her assistant roused a grin out of Shiro, who shook his head and shrugged. It wasn’t like her. Still, Unki managed to briefly derail the severity from their somber choice of subject. “They’re first cousins.” He added, quietly as if to avoid Unki’s lengthy input. “In all seriousness, as this is the most delicate matter we’ve collectively dealt with, I can offer the wisdom to overlook worrying yourself over the unknown. I wouldn’t advise dismissing preparation for the unknown, but getting too preoccupied with what Takumi can do might distract you from what she’s already capable of. We might've not been made for battling gods with reckless confidence alone.” Unki was still occupied with her hushed little plots behind the sofa as Shiro carried on with like the eloquent chatterbox he was. It wasn’t a cramped space by any means and Unki had sufficient space to stiffly bend and summon something else in a dramatic fashion which Shiro pretended to ignore by any and all means. Chouki couldn’t ignore anything. The dog hurried to use Shiro as a step ladder until she was able to prop her paws on the back cushion with dramatic antics almost equal to Unki’s but just a lot more desperate to see. A jealous Chouki trembled and grumbled. “Darling,” Shiro spoke again, this time sounding wary to inquire, as Chouki’s tail remorselessly drummed his arm. The emperor looked apathetic to take tail lashes. “Why are you summoning more dogs?” Unki ignored Shiro with the fullest intent to whisper into the creased ear of the horse sized greyhound, Takemaru. Neither girl nor dog could be missed. With a sparkle in her eye, she reached to pat the dog on its head and sent him on his way in another smokey pop. A look of pride beaming as a smile on her face as she turned to answer Shiro. Already she was re-fluffing her hair- jostled from the slight explosion- and sweeping a stirred sprinkle of the room’s dust off her hips and abdomen. “To give Mister Kenshin one more advantage to come home sooner!” To gather more help, in other words, and it wasn’t the dog.
Traveling along the main road cutting through the Land of Floods, Shinji was moving fast. His body was shrouded in his speed release chakra, augmenting his movements to the point that the rest of the world looked slow to him. It felt like he was making good time. His recent visit to the capital of Kumoito meant that he knew the way better, and could easily cut out delays. And, if he was feeling particularly antsy about the time, he probably could move even faster.
Shinji dug his feet into the ground, seeing a large puff of smoke erupt ahead of him, skidding to a stop as a large gray head peeked out of the cloud in his direction. "Takemaru?" Shinji reached out to scratch the Great Dane behind his ears, happy to see that it was a friendly face. "What are you doin' here?""I was asked to come get you," the horse-sized dog explained, his massive tail wagging with each ear-scratch. "Oh? By Empress Unki?" Takemaru nodded. Shinji used his free hand to rub the back of his head. "Well, that's a nice coincidence, I was just heading that way. Is something going on?""There will be. She wants you to help Mister Kenshin."
Shinji let out a deep sigh. Jashinists in the "birthplace" of the tailed beasts, Arashigakure in disrepair, and now whatever Kenshin's about to get into. "No rest for the wicked, I guess. I tell you, Takemaru, I think I need a vacation when this is all over. Maybe you and me can go for a walk then, how's that sound?" Takamaru's tail wagged faster than before, which brought a smile to Shinji's face. "Alright, thanks for the info Buddy." He dismissed the large dog in another cloud of smoke before taking off again.

Shinji stopped at the gate of Kumoine keep, pausing to catch his breath before approaching the guards to explain his situation before heading inside. He didn't wait to listen to any objections by guards or palace staff as he raced through the halls towards the chamber that he assumed the Empress was still located in. He paused outside long enough to give three loud knocks on the door, then opened it and went inside. "Ketsueki Delivery service with an urgent letter for the Empress," Shinji proclaimed loudly, flashing a quick smile and holding up the letter from the Arashikage.

▱▰▱A guard turned to face Katsumi when she spoke to him. His armor was as sterling and white as his pale eyes. He was actually a member of Kenshin's detail as a Pale Citadel guard. "Follow me." The Hyuga clansman responded before leading Katsumi to where Kenshin and Unki were located. "Apologies for the interruption. This woman is following an order for a mission from Empress Unki." Kenshin nodded quietly in response to his guardsman who Unki would have been able to hear as well. His guard then quietly joined the rest of the guards that surrounded himself and Lady Ada.

That's why we need to crush these Jashinists and question them. Then we might be able to figure out what's actually happening." The silence was more frustrating than Inshou actually acting. At least if they struck then he would have some idea of where events stood. He looked around as dogs began appearing in the palace. When Shiro inquired why and Unki responded, Kenshin would quickly comment as well. "Dogs are good animals, loyal." By contrast, Kenshin never liked cats. Fickle felines were never ones to hold Kenshin's respect. When Shinji entered the room and passed a letter to the empress, Kenshin spoke up again. "Is he another one who might help me?" The Nohara lord pointed at Shinji and asked Unki before looking at Katsumi. "Since this one's looking for work, she might accompany me as well. Either way, we're going to the Pale Citadel to rest and resupply ourselves. Once we have a plan, I'll gather some of my guards before we move across the border into the Hot Springs country. We'll put a stop to the cult's operations there once and for all. And it might give us a lead on what's happening with Inshou." Kenshin began to stand up while awaiting responses. He was prepared to move out soon once dismissed.

When the katana was reworked to its fullest potential it had the abilities of his own weapon in addition to incredible lightning abilities. ▰ Ability Summary: Righteous Sword of the Sentinel [ Senchineru no Seigi no Ken ] | Rank E | Bloodline | Spiritual All forms of Hyuuga techniques including the gentle fist can be used through the sword for the 10 posts that this technique is active. This means that strikes involving the blade cause physical damage including stab wounds as well as seal tenketsu points and any other effects of the technique used through the sword. An additional 5 chakra can be applied to the blade to prevent it from causing physical damage from thrusting but instead seal tenketsu points and inflict pain similar to a stab wound in the area struck but slashing attacks can still cause damage. Half the resource cost of techniques from the rapier style of Sen Gekiretsu Nagareboshi applied allows the technique to carry the tenketsu sealing effects of a same-rank palm strike such as a B-Rank carrying 64 Palms effects. Getsuruito must be in its rapier form to use this ability and 5 chakra can be spent upon activation of this technique to transform it as such. The Righteous Sword of the Sentinel technique has a 10 post duration before necessitating re-activation and costs an E-Rank amount of chakra. The initial activation of this technique consumes an action but all subsidiary abilities of the technique do not.
Smiting Blade of the Night Watch [ Naitō Otchi no Sumittinguburēdo ] | Rank X | Bukijutsu [ Lightning ] | Spiritual When this technique is activated it crackles violently with night blue lightning for the entire duration. The electricity from the blade also forms bolts of lightning over the body of the user and appears to supercharge them. Whenever the blade is swung or thrust over the duration the user can fire a concentrated blast of ten bolts of lightning to accompany the strike equal to the rank applied but for only half the cost to initiate the technique. Hatake, Raiu, and Sage enhanced lightning can pass through the blade and apply to these lightning bolts. The bolts cause a thunderously deafening sonic boom and can inflict tier 2 burns upon direct contact with the lightning. Additionally, these lightning bolts can be freely applied to all complex bukijutsu for no action cost to smite enemies. The only action cost is when the technique is activated and all subsidiary abilities of the technique do not consume actions and only chakra. This ability can be used in both forms of Getsuruito.
Draconic Sabre of Moon Sundering [ Getsu Sandaringu no Dorakonikku Seibā ] | Rank X | Bukijutsu [ Lightning ] | Complex This is the original ability of the ancient Getsuruito blade and thus requires the original katana form. 5 chakra can be spent to transform the blade to its original form upon activation of this technique. Crackling and thunderous dark blue lightning can be applied to the katana's edge at any rank and the same lightning can form a dragon head formed from electricity over the body of the user for 10 posts. This allows all spiritual techniques the sword comes into contact with to be slashed through and even cut in half at the same rank despite the complex nature of the technique. For half of the original cost to activate the technique a same-rank spiritual electrical energy slash can be sent out from the slash of the blade. This same cost can be applied to any complex bukijutsu to achieve the same effect. The original 10 post activation of this ability consumes an action but all subsidiary abilities do not.
