Khamaith

Yellow Swirl’s outburst took Khamaith by surprise, and had the gold stunned a touch. Its indignation and unfair tantrum made her hearts ache, and she couldn’t help but take a glance at Turoth. Inexperience rang as her eyes flooded with concern, but this was her qualm to soothe. Her tail twined a touch tighter with the bronze’s, leaning ever so slightly against Baihath -- seeking both comforts.
Oh, my little love -- easy. You are radiant. Would you like a cuddle with me? Or Daddy Turoth or Papa Baihath? But there was the beginnings of chaos on the sands, as she took in upset candidates and her children alike. Would it be prudent to end things before matters got worse? She glanced at Zinath, yet remained silent. She and A’ral were experienced in such matters, and would leave the decision up to them -- so long as things didn’t escalate further.

Niviora || She/Her || Western Weyr

Taking praise and admonishment in turn, Niviora nodded quietly to the egg. “I appreciate it.” It’s quieter, softer. Perhaps a touch unsure if come hatching day, these measures of goodwill might stay. She’d certainly seen her fair share of stain on the sands. But as Niviora was pulling her hand away, a pure, unadulterated wave of injustice and anger, and it was all Niviora could do to yank her hand away from Golden Flourish’s egg -- as if the break in contact would help to shield from the roil of heat in her blood. The candidate grit her teeth, trying to calm herself through tried and tested tactics -- yet little was working. Yet where the hot flashes of anger burned, also came a sharp sting of protectiveness -- as if she could throw herself angrily in someone’s way. Yet there was no opponent, nothing to fight -- only the one inside her to regain control of herself. Niviora staggered away from the eggs, giving care to skirt around the shells and give them all a wide berth. Only having touched one shell, her heart would sink later, but she needed to remove herself before she made things worse.

Dystzha || She/Her || Western Weyr

The pure bundle of love has the teen smiling, feeling so warm and snug. A pure warmth that made her feel safe, secure. Orange Leopard Spot was a darling, and how could she resist such a sweet request? “A moment longer wouldn’t hurt, would it?” Never would she want to affront an egg, especially one so sweet. Her fingers trace one of the rosettes, beaming. Her gaze flickered up, seeing another candidate who seemed a touch distraught, but feeling warm and safe in the egg’s mental warmth had her reach out to touch Etansi’s hand, a brief pat, before turning back to the egg. “Slowing down would be good for some people, wouldn’t it?” Dystzha certainly could learn from that, herself.

Quote:
Shoxiel || He/Him || Western Weyr

’The pleasure and honor is mine.’ Beaming to Black and Rainbow Swirl egg, Shoxiel was feeling light on his feet. A delight to have met two kind eggs thus far, the man nodded and hummed appreciatively under his breath. ’I hope the rest of your day is a delight.’ A curt exchange of pleasantries, yet it left Shoxiel feeling light, and he pulled his hand away.

The wave of pure injustice hit him, and he staggered a halfstep back. He glances around, feeling his jaw lock up some in that flare of anger, but Shoxiel knows that’s not his anger. Yet he hoped whichever egg might be upset, they find peace, and soon… It was a concentrated effort to let the anger drain through him. After all, it wouldn’t be good to touch another egg while he still felt those dredges of inflicted anger. Pacing around the sands, looking for his next egg to visit, he briefly pauses as he spots Etansi looking rather… out of sorts. Should he see if she was okay? But, oh.. Her hand was on an egg. He hoped she would be okay.. Perhaps after the touching, he would see if she was okay. Next his eyes found Loctius, and for a moment, he almost went to his foster brother’s side -- but Loctius was strong, and he could fuss later.

The large Purple Glitter Egg would be the next he stepped up to, giving the bright, glittery shell an appreciative glance before gently pressing his hand to the shell. ’Good day to you. I hope your day is fantastic, though it unfortunately seems some of your siblings may be having a time of it.’ He paused, admiring the gleaming shell warm in his palm. ’Your shell is quite stunning.’

Sablie-She/her, Western Weyr

Sablie had gotten her hair into her usual messy braid, as the time for them to touch the eggs arrived. She was looking forward to this, it was always such a treat to get to touch the eggs. Even if the touchings could be a little rough sometimes. However, she could only imagine how tough it was to be a baby dragon stuck in an egg and having all these hands touching your shells. She would want to get out of her shell and play, if it were her. She listened as A'ral went over the usual expectations of a hatching. Maybe this time it would go smoothly, not like she minded either way. As they were led out to the sands, she walked with everyone else, trying to not trip over her own two feet.

Thankfully, she made it safely to the hatching sands and still marveled at all the beautiful eggs. Sure, she had peeked in as much as she could, but this time they would see them up close and personal. She made sure to bow to Khamaith, Turoth, and Baihath as she was supposed to do, though she did stumble the slightest. Ah well, better to get those out now, she thought to herself. As her fellow candidates went towards the eggs, she worked on deciding which was best to go to. When she finally decided, she walked with purpose over to black and rainbow swirl egg. As lovely as the outside shells were, she wanted to know the minds inside these eggs. Just as she was about to put her hand on the egg, she felt a wave of anger and injustice coming from near by. She did her best to combat it with a sense of calm, reminding herself it was one of the babies. It was hard, but she leaned into her training, so she could touch the egg next to her.

Well, it seems one of your siblings is not doing well. I do hope they understand that glowing isn't everything. After all, people think me a disaster when it comes to clothing. How about you, what do you think?Sablie asked good-naturedly, trying to drown out the anger from the little egg not too far away. She made sure her mind was open for the little mind inside, to see what they might want to see.

Elibrie - she/her

Elibrie was soaking up the Sunset Egg's peace and reassurances, knowing she would have to move on soon, when Yellow Swirl made its unhappiness known, anger and injustice rushing in to swallow her despite its sibling's influence. She snapped her hand back from Sunset's shell and stepped away - thank Faranth it was on the edges, not right at the edge of the clutch.

Deep breaths. Deep breaths. But it was hard to breathe with all the anger tearing at her, trying to claw its way through and out. Not glowing, not shiny, and it wasn't fair. Not special. How could she not be special? She wasn't supposed to be special, and she knew it - she had a place in life, and it was to be quiet, and accept whatever came to her, because that was the fate of ordinary girls. So why was she even here? She didn't- she didn't belong. Not the way Oranie did. Surely Menankith had made a mistake, taking them both.

But it was too late now. There was no going home, they'd never have her back after she'd been in a Weyr. No man would want to marry her, when there was no knowing what had happened to her while she'd been away. And that, the knowledge that her old life was gone forever, was where the anger found somewhere to take root. She'd worked so hard to be good, to be what was expected, never more or less or even herself (and that was so unfair, losing whoever else she might have been!), and by accepting Search she'd made it all for nothing.

What a stupid, stupid girl she was. Swamped by the strongest feelings she'd had since the death of her mother - and even those had been very quickly buried and ignored into silence - Elibrie was suddenly drowning in anger at herself. But she stayed upright, and she did her level best to keep it from spilling out and betraying that she felt much of anything. "I'm going to- I'm going to go, I just...need a minute," she whispered to Oranie. "You should stay, you and Juhvek have...have eggs to meet."

Taking measured, deliberate steps in spite of a building sense of urgency, she made her way into the tiers to sit, well out of anyone's way. It was the best place for her, really.

Ara | she/her | Western

A wave of indignation bordering on fury swept over Ara, utterly washing away the mutual warmth and joy she'd shared with the Sunset Egg, and she winced, snatching her hand away from the Sunset Egg's shell as if it had shocked her. She knew the emotion hadn't come from that egg, and that it was an almost nonexistent chance that breaking her physical connection to it would spare the Sunset Egg any of the angry backlash, but she tried.

The tall girl stepped quickly away from the clutch, hands grasping elbows, shoulders curled inward, head bowed, struggling to contain this secondhand rage. There had been displeased eggs at her first Touching, she reminded herself. No, displeased baby dragons. That was the part she found so magical about Touchings, the ability to communicate with the actual baby dragon even though it was still unhatched. She focused on this thought. On how amazing it was that she was even here. It was not an easy thing, but she was a patient young woman, not naturally given to fury, herself, and so eventually the alien emotion seeped and she felt that she would be of sufficiently balanced mind to interact with eggs once more.

She moved toward the nearest egg, another small egg. The Teal Glow Egg was one she'd seen a number of candidates approach early on in the Touching, and so she had resolved to give it some space initially, but now she was sufficiently unsettled that her earlier plan got abandoned and she rested both palms against the Teal Glow Egg, feeling the curve of its shell and the warmth it had absorbed from the sands. When she wondered if the dragonets particularly liked the heat, or if it was just necessary to harden the shells, she took it as a sign that her mental equilibrium was returning.

Even touching the egg, it took her another second or two to come up with something appropriate to actually say. (She had forgotten that the dragons were more than psychic enough to know what she was thinking even if she wasn't touching the egg or thinking anything at them.) Her first thoughts were to ask whether that unhappy dragon was always like that, and then to ask if the egg she was touching had felt the anger, too, but discarded both thoughts. It seemed rude to ask one dragon about another, when she was there for the express purpose of meeting each dragonet individually. She would eventually make her way to whichever egg had been so unhappy, providing Khamaith didn't elect to remove it from the main clutch.

At last she settled on an unoriginal opening: I've been looking forward to today. Then she continued, It's hard to believe I'm actually supposed to be here, doing this, instead of just cleaning up after everyone else.

While waiting for a response she wondered what a dragon in an egg would look forward to. Hatching, probably, though she'd touched some eggs whose dragons hadn't seemed all that interested, and there had been some dragons at the last hatching who had taken their time. Well. It was part of being a dragon, she supposed, to have everyone wait on you, and part of being Ara to wait on people. Her parents would be so pleased that she still knew her place in the world.

Aelyx - Western - She/Her

The sense of being watched was a bit unnerving, but Aelyx bore it quietly, and when she felt the Egg was rather done with her, she turned and moved on. Part of her longed to go back to Spotted Green, but instead her hand moved to rest on the Gold Striped Egg with curiosity. All of its siblings had been so different from other eggs she had met, and she rather found herself loving the clutch as a whole. Gold Stripe was clearly enjoying itself. Did it mind her company?

Zaexillia [WW] - 16 - she/her/hers - Candidate/Apprentice Healer

Zae withdrew her hand in a moment of shock, before scolding herself for her weakness. Soft, gentle fingers touched the shell of Orange Leopard Spot once more. Sorry, she began, thoughts focused once more on acceptance and love. A story? I… I had to stitch up a poor child who decided to try and ride a wherry. Sometimes we all have our silly moments…

It was then that the force of Yellow Swirl's feelings assailed her mind, and she found herself retreating a moment, shutting her eyes against the mental pain. She wrangled with the sensation of injustice and anger, telling herself that these feelings were not her own. Are you okay in there? Zae asked of the Orange Leopard Spot egg.

Keleres [WW] - 21 - she/her/hers - JM Masseuse (spy)

Kel beamed at the intensity of Pink Striped's delight. What a wonderful egg! How lovely this clutch was. There was a moment of panic when the egg all but seemed to slide forwards. Oops! Had she done that? The antsiness seemed to be contagious, for the young woman was suddenly thinking about running free through the rain and greenery. Don't worry little one. Soon you will be free, and you'll get to see just how marvellous the world out here is!

Despite Yellow Swirl's despair over its own lack of shininess, the rosey coloured lens set by Pink Striped protected her from the worst of the sensation. She gave the beautiful striped egg a final parting pat before moving on. Keleres visited Green Tribal egg next. Hello there. Are you well in there, dear one? She found herself asking, stroking the shell. It seems like some of your siblings are very ready to hatch.

---

Siblings should protect each other! Raiden was of half mind to tell Yellow Swirl off for its theatrics, but realised that would be a very dumb thing to do, and to think. Of course, the poor dragonet within might be distressed over not being shiny. Sometimes life didn't work out the way one wanted it to.

If you need me to stay with you, I will. I would never leave anyone who might need protecting. He was a valiant, courageous soul! Promise!

Of course, the Spotted Green egg might not need his help at all. Might even find him presumptuous, in fact. Er. Sorry. Of course you can handle yourself, you're a dragon. But if you need a friend, I am happy to cheer you on! That was also weird, huh.

Gosh he was so stupid sometimes.

White Baihath

Oh. How could he resist an invitation from his perfect child? With another sneaky glance at the Stands, Baihath began to wiggle and hum a little, swinging his head and tail in opposite directions. Of course he would dance for Gold Striped, sending his affection and delight towards the little egg.

The upset rang out clearly, and Baihath's eyes went yellow with concern, leaning back against Khamaith to offer his support. Maybe he shouldn't say anything at all, but he felt as though he had to try. Yellow Swirl Egg would be blanketed with his love. Oh...! But you will be my little sun! Once you hatch, we can play all the games because you'll be so bright! Your mama and daddy know this, I promise! His dancing had been replaced with anxious wiggles, and he looked between both metallics for instruction.

Aerden - he/his

It was impossible to tell what the egg was thinking, and after a few seconds, Aerden would draw his hand back with a mental farewell. Before he could do much more, he was suddenly hit with the egg's upset, and found himself... struggling. He almost felt furious. Life wasn't fair, and he hated it. But... was that not why he was here? He knew how cruel life could be, and he was here in the hopes that he could try and make things a little better for others'--just a little brighter.

Gritting his teeth, he forced himself to take a few slow breaths, trying to not let the strong emotions overwhelm him entirely. He had a job to do. Slowly, he made his way to the Gold Striped Egg, reaching out to touch the shell. This had been the egg causing people to dance earlier, hadn't been? Such a vivacious spirit--they needed more goodness in the world like that.

--

Bukichi he/his

The advice was good, and Bukichi quietly accepted it with a note of thanks. By continuously putting himself in his brother's shadow, he would never come into his own. He knew that. But he would never be shiny--not like Matotoka. Despite his best efforts, he could feel his rage beginning to come to a slow boil, and he practically stalked across the sands. He was never enough, no matter what he tried. Never strong enough, never fast enough, never smart enough. No, he would never pull himself completely out of that shadow while Matotoka continued to loom over him just as he had for Bukichi's entire life.

But he would beat him. Somehow, some way. He would be better than his half-brother ever could be, and he would leave him behind in the dust.

Pointedly aware of his brother standing at the nearby egg, Bukichi's gaze was sharp enough to slice as he took over the taller, leaner figure before he deliberately pressed his palm to the Purple Glitter Egg. It was a large egg, impressively so, and Bukichi found himself wishing that the dragonet inside might be the one for him. Was he not capable, decisive, bold? Surely he would be a good match--no, the best match for a dragon.

Somehow, he would find a way to shine more brilliantly than anyone.
--

Serrekhar he/his

Oh--whoa--sorry. Serrekhar pulled his hand back at once, hesitating. There was suddenly an immediate spike of feeling through him, because hadn't he tried to be gentle? Hadn't he tried to--?! But, but, but, he told himself, a little overwhelmed by these emotions, it was a baby. It hadn't been rude. It had just... asked. Wasn't nothin' wrong with just asking. As easy (and tempting) as it would have been to hold onto that anger, Serrekhar let it go. It took him a moment to realize it was coming from one of the eggs. It was such a powerful sensation!

Slowly, he put his hand back on the Spotted Green Egg, feeling incredibly guilty. "M'sorry, little guy." He muttered aloud. "I uh... is this a little better? Didn't mean to come on so strong."

--

Oranie she/her

If she wouldn't have gotten herself hauled bodily off the sands, Oranie would have loved nothing more than to sink down next to the Sunset Egg and bask in its sweet calm. But the egg itself had spoke truly--the moment was only intended to last for a moment. She was suddenly struck by the force of Yellow Swirl's feelings, and hastily pulled her hand away.

Why? Why was she surprised? She'd done this to herself, hadn't she? Throwing herself into a marriage where she was little more than a burden, hastily accepting the offer to become a Candidate, and now to switch to Western? She shook for a moment, unaware that Juhvek had pulled farther away, almost missed Elibrie's comment. "W-Wait--" Her voice was choked, strangled by her own thoughts. And yet, all she could do was watch as her sister walked farther and farther away.

The anger and unfairness of it all threatened to cave into despair, and Oranie stood there in silence, paralyzed by her indecision. She'd dragged her sister into this, ripped her away from the only life she'd ever known. In a way, it might have saved her from a marriage like her own--but what if that was what Elibrie really wanted? What if she'd known, unlike Oranie? What... was she supposed to do now? Almost stumbling over her own feet, she followed after her sister, suddenly seized with the urge to cry.

"I'm sorry, Elibrie," She managed to say, wiping furiously at the tears threatening to spill. She needed to be composed, calm--in control. "This is all my fault."

Elibrie - she/her

Elibrie hadn't expected to be followed. Not because she thought her sister didn't care, or that she wasn't important to her, it was just that there were still eggs to meet, and that was ostensibly what they were there for. So to look up and see Oranie was quite the surprise. "It's not your fault," she said softly, straightening her posture and clamping down on all the unwelcome feelings that continued to writhe around and scrabble for a hold. Losing control was quite unbecoming in a young woman, and crying would only serve to make her seem the silly girl she was. "I wanted to come."

Even if the possibility that her sister and their friend might both Impress and leave her behind frightened her, there had still been that tiny, tiny hope that she might as well. It was just another silly notion, of course. But what little girl on Pern didn't dream of a gold dragon? Of being beautiful. Of being special. But Elibrie was neither of those things, and she never would be, not enough for any dragon, gold or otherwise. Not like her aunt, who'd had enough spirit that she'd even attracted what should have been a boy's dragon. And she knew Oranie had the spirit for a dragon, too. Oranie belonged at a Weyr. In the sky.

"You should go back to the eggs. What if one of them is looking for you?" She'd feel terrible if she kept her sister from the entire reason they were here, and they left having touched only two eggs. And Elibrie had chosen one, so Oranie would have only touched one of the ones she wanted to. That would very much not be fair.

Rian || High Reaches Weyr || she/her

Oh! Rian hadn't expected the egg to rock into her touch, and she felt flattered by the attention. "Oh, you're a charmer," she said, smiling at it. It really was every bit as perfect as it felt it was, and confident too! That was definitely worth admiring! Pulling her hand back, she wavered for a moment as she glanced over the eggs. Maybe that little nudge from the infant within was right, and she should stop early? She wanted to be sure everyone else got a chance to find their lifemate, if they were here, wouldn't that be better done by stepping aside?

She'd barely considered the idea when the wave of unhappiness swept through them all. The indignant anger, the sheer sense of how unfair things were --- it didn't knock her to her knees like it had some of the other candidates, but she did bring a hand up to clutch at her chest as tears rose into her eyes. Oh, this was awful! Everything was awful and the world wasn't fair, wasn't right --- this was upsetting and it wasn't--- it wasn't even her feeling so angry, not really, was it? Couldn't someone make it fair? In that moment she'd do anything to try and make it right for the poor, unhappy baby that was projecting its misery and frustration so loudly, if only she could.

She staggered a step or two away from the overwhelming emotion, reminding herself that she couldn't help, not this time and in this situation. Much as she'd like to, if she tried she'd like as not just get in trouble. Instead, she tried to gather herself back up, remember that she was here for an important purpose. She had to be calm, let others help the unhappy baby, and--- and act like a proper representative of High Reaches. She wanted to do right by the weyr she'd been born to, didn't she? She definitely couldn't bear to do something that might embarrass or shame her home!

It was with that thought in mind that she managed to surface from under the mix of emotions caused by the distraught egg and her own response to it, blinking back the remnants of unhappy tears as she felt something calmer settle over her shoulders Straightening her back, she moved to the Orange Galaxy Egg and brushed her hand against the shell. After all, the best way to help everyone right now was to do what she was here for, and meet the sweet babies who could very well end up being future friends.

"Hello," she said quietly, but for once could think of little else to say; this egg was lovely, as they all were, and of course she was curious about what lay within it, but for some reason this time the words wouldn't come. Instead, she just tried to focus on letting it know she was pleased to meet it, and glad to be here. Maybe that would be enough?
PostPosted: Thu Jun 04, 2020 4:48 pm
Oranie she/her

Had she? The traitorous thought flickered through her head before she could properly clamp down on it, and Oranie bit her lip. Had she really wanted to leave her life? This wasn't even about Western anymore, but she had no idea how to even begin to broach the subject--and this was not the time or or place. It had been the chance for her to escape from the falsehood that had become her life, but...

Her smile was a bit unsteady as she reached out to take one of Elibrie's hands, giving it a quiet squeeze. "Then they can find me later. I think it's much more important that I'm here right now." Because even with what Menankith had said... it was hard to really imagine that a dragon would ever want a silly girl like her. A girl who'd failed to be the perfect wife, a girl who'd fled from her problems and brought shame down upon her family.

A girl who selfishly hadn't even considered what this might do to Elibrie, if things didn't work out for her as a Candidate.

"I want to stay here with you." She said a bit more quietly. "If that's okay." Please.

Oreune - she/her

Uggghhhh.....well that went over like a basket of rocks. It was more or less what she expected though and so Oreune just mentally shrugged. Well I mean, I can't see you right now so maybe when you hatch come show off? Then I can apologize for my comments, but right now all I can see is your shell. The egg was given an affirming pat as the teen moved to go off, pretty sure that the dragonet was going to entirely forget and that was a-okay. Expecting things and making promises didn't work for someone like her, after all, and she was thankful for that.

She was also thankful she managed to miss whatever it was that was going down across the sands, though she did catch the response of the adult dragons and a few of the candidates. "Umm......." Were they supposed to leave the sands now? What was she supposed to do? It did feel a little unfair that she couldn't keep mingling if that was the case, but she shifted onto the next egg in hopes it could continue. Feelings like injustice and unfairness were her bread and butter (along with a healthy cup of paranoia), so if there was unease creeping it it was hard to distinguish it from her dailies.

With her hand on the Orange Leopard Spotted egg she did her best to think of anything other than patterns (which it had, and which were nice. I wonder what's going on over there. I don't think you'd know about it though, must be kinda nice not worrying over other people's stuff. I'm jealous of those who can take it easy. This was kind of a dump on the egg and Oreune sighed. That's not really what I wanted to say though. More like 'Hi, nice to meet you~' or 'Man is it hot!' or anything else. Sorry.

Ugh, why was it so unfair that others seemed to do this without difficulty? The feelings swelled as she attempted to push them back. This was wrong and she was sad.

----------------

Haveli

Having been pushed into an almost unnatural state of happiness, Haveli was almost subconsciously thankful for the sudden punch to her emotions from out of nowhere. The mood she'd she'd been in all but vanished as jealousy over who got what, over her wants and deserves, seeped over her mind like fingers picking away at wounds. Why wasn't she able to achieve things as easily as others? Why did those around her seem to - no, no. She could and would not allow herself to fall back into those thoughts, lest she be pulled off the sands and tossed out faster than a dirty sheet.

Haveli needed to swallow down those feelings, and she gulped away using every little bit of the lessons that had been drilled into her for what felt like nearly a Turn. Life was unfair in measure, she pressed in, but hardly always.

Keep thinking that, keep thinking and moving and staying bright. The Orange Galaxy egg was met under her hand, and she scrunched her fingers a bit before fully relaxing them on the shell. And what of you? Do you think life is fair to all, or only those who deserve it? Do you think you deserve fairness, do I deserve it? She paused and took a deep breath, thinking and calming. You deserve the best of what there is to offer, but what of me? Here to see you, what do you see?
PostPosted: Thu Jun 04, 2020 5:42 pm

A shock of raw emotion twisted through Orryxa, who stood numbly on the sands as though she'd been poleaxed. The swell of unfairness and unaccountable pain ripped open old wounds like hurricane force winds. It was the first time, and perhaps the only time, that she'd ever thought herself unsuitable to stand before a clutch. Shivering slightly with the sheer power of it, she blinked dumbly, trying to think through the waves of anger and betrayal coming off of the tiny egg. She hadn't touched it, hadn't needed to get too close.

Rushing back to her were the visceral emotions of a small child who had watched her mother die at her feet. Who had been helpless to stop the slaughter when her grandfather had been felled as well. So much death. So much despair. Everything she'd worked to push down threatened to well up and swallow her. She closed her eyes, gritting her teeth and pressing the nails of her fingers into her palms. It's not real. It's not happening. It's not real. It was an egg. It was a baby. It was emoting. Dragonets did that. This was not the first time she'd experienced it.

Why was it hitting her so hard, just now? Remembering what the mindhealers had said, she focused on her breathing. In, out. Deep breaths that would calm frayed nerves. She was in a forest - no, something else, any place else! - she was on a beach. A sandy beach with nothing but crashing waves to disrupt the calm quiet. The control that had been wrested from her she carefully coiled back in, pulling it patiently bit by bit, piece by piece. By the time she opened her eyes again, she could at least think. Anything more seemed beyond her at present.

F'dral
Things had been going relatively smoothly as he continued to watch the happenings. But, just like a Hatching, things could change in an instant--one moment everything was relatively relaxed, and the next, and egg having a meltdown. He wondered, of course, if perhaps a Candidate had done something rash--but the feelings quickly sunk hold.

There were injustices aplenty in this world, but before any could be fully shaken from the man--Sinrunth's loving confidence washed through him. It was enough to keep the force of the egg's feelings relatively harmless--but the Candidates, he knew, would have little to help calm or soothe.

Let those of High Reaches know to be ready to go. I think it's about time to return home.

Some Candidates were already retreating, some in tears. Tch. He looked to A'ral and arched a brow.... He'd give the Western Weyrlingmaster a moment to address the room. But with how things were deteriorating, it wouldn't be more than a moment.

Odellet Western

"Of course you are amazin'," Odellet cooed to the egg, grinning at the gorgeous sparkling shell. "but I got to go, rules and all." She gave the egg another careful touch and pulled away her hand.

And got swamped by a flare of rage and anger and shiny. And no one got to do that to her and it took a moment to grab all that rage and anger and emotions not her own and ditch them. Hang them up, like her papa's belongings when he had died those turns ago and breath hard and tight. Because it was a freaking egg. Well baby in the egg.

And well.. she could get it. Poor things belief got turned upside down now, didn't it. The anger though... woosh, she hadn't expected that. She shook her head and narrowed her eyes. "Who say you ain't shiny? Because I think all the eggs are rather shinny out here." She said, unsure which was causing the fuss. "That includes you too."

Rykin

As he waited the moment between addressing the Rose Egg and its reply, Rykin was hit by a wall of furious petulance that drove all else from his head. He remained on his feet, unlike some who were closer to the disturbance, but found himself unable to form a coherent reply at first when the little pink egg spoke to him.

"I'm... um... no. Yes," he muttered aloud, drawing his hand away from its shell. "I hope you don't mind if I stay here for a second." He had planned on moving on to the Purple Galaxy Egg, but he needed some time to separate himself from Yellow Swirl's outburst.

Brenley

Certainly not. The egg would feel his embarrassment over such a suggestion before he pushed it down, scrambling for something positive to think instead. But if I were to dance, it would be here. I promise. But I don't dance. He awkwardly pat at the Purple and Teal shell, and was about to move on when he was stopped by Yellow Swirl's glorious tantrum. Bren's teeth ground together and his fingers curled, but he pushed through, resting his closed fists against the sparkling shell of Purple Glitter.

    Hello. Does this happen often?

    He didn't specify what.
