Dipsi- Western Weyr

Dipsi would have liked to stay and dance the day away with the gold stripe egg but that would leave no time at all to see it's siblings. So she cast a silent apology to the egg. They would dance again come hatching!

The other matter at hand was the ripple of unease that ran through the gathered crowd thanks to the complaints and straight up tantrum from yellow swirl. Dipsi was still far enough away and blocked by enough bodies that she only caught the edge of the indignation. But as it's parents were already swooping in to calm it she decided that she would turn her vast compassion to another egg that was more neglected.

The small size of the Teal glow instantly warmed her towards the dragon inside. She knelt and placed her hands on the round tip of the shell. "Hello little one, your egg shell is beautiful. Do you think I would be able to keep a piece once you hatch?"

Zhaydegan - Western - He/His

some Touchins were more eventful than others. Most people hoped for calm, Zhaydegan was sure, but he didn't see anything wrong with a little excitement. Maybe not tantriuming-egg exciting, but it surely did give him something to watch, and watch he did, since the first egg he'd touched didn't seem to interested in him.

While he watched, he spotted Dystzha wove his way between candidates and eggs toward her, stopping by the Black and Raibow Swirl Egg "Hey," he whispered to his sister. "You all right? You didn't do that, did you?" he teased, nodding in the direction of the upset egg. Still grinning, he put his hand against te colorful shell, full of good humor and a light heart that he'd share with the dragonet inside.

Hi, sis!

----

Eliaza - HR Weyr - She/Her

Moving, keep moving. That was all she could think to do. She wasn't going to run from the upset. She wasn't going to give in to the tears that suddenly pricklled the corners of her eyes. That was a lot of feeling and it only amplified her nerves. She could move, and she did, walking with very deliberate purpose toward the Sunset Egg. Once there, she closed her eyes, took a deep breath, and opened them again, putting on a smile for the egg's sake. Which might have been silly, since it couldn't see her, but really, could it hurt? Probably not. [i[Hello. I hope we aren't bothering you, too.

----

Ollandin = Western - He/His

No no no no. That was bad. For a moment, he'd been caught up in the joy and excitement the Yellow Swirl egg was feeling. He really did think with a shell that color it might have been considered a glow. But then it got upset instead and all the joy blanched out of the air, and the color from Ollandin's face. He went very still for a few heartbeats that thundered in his ears. And then he marched, jaw set tight, as far as he could go without leaving the Sands, around the other eggs, around the other Candidates, to take a knee beside the Butterfly Egg. Hiding? No. Not quite. Not exactly. Just getting out of the way. He pressed a few fingers against the decorated shell and "whispered", I'll just be here for a moment. Won't stay long, I swear.

Sunset Egg
Anyone who happened to be touching the Sunset Eg would find themselves shielded--at least in part--from the tumultuous emotions. It would send as much peace as it could--would wrap around each Candidate a desire to relax, to chill, to help ground them. Have a bit of peace, and relaaaaaax. While it might not work completely, the egg would certainly try.

Purple Glitter Egg
What?

Who was causing such a commotion? And why was everyone suddenly upset!?

Did Yellow Swirl realize it was disrupting Purple Glitter's time? Oh, of all the things to have happen. Bad enough the Candidates were leaving it, but now some were storming off, pulling back, and only the most worthy were sticking around!

SILENCE! It would send a sharp jolt the direction of Yellow Swirl--commanding, and imperious. Some of those nearby might suddenly feel a shock of ire. But those who stood on the far side of the egg would find nothing but pleasure. Do linger. Don't mind the crying rabble. Stick with the best egg to ever egg and surround yourself with greatness.

Pink Striped
Oh, things were happening!! Anyone who still happened to be touching the Pink Striped Egg would find themselves wrapped around a surge of hope--and perhaps a bit of excitement. All's well that ends well, and surely, this too will turn out all right. Look on the bright side, be happy, be at peace! Such negative emotions are almost overwhelming to the egg, who is now trying its best to counter them. Those who are near, or touching the egg, will find themselves almost a bit high on energy and a jolt of a rose-colored outlook. Things aren't as bad as they seemed a minute ago.

Gold Striped
Anyone still touching Gold Striped--who was still wriggling and shaking in its shell--would only feel its excitement grow. It didn't seem too alarmed over its clutchmate. Was it really a party if there wasn't at least a little bit of drama? Those who were nearby would find themselves wrapped around with almost bubbling mirth. Its clear this egg doesn't seem at all concerned about the growing chaos in its clutchmate or the Candidates. This too shall pass--and someone else will surely clean up the mess! Now let's have fun!! Quick, someone give this egg a roll while no one's looking.. and those standing nearby might find themselves highly tempted indeed.

Ope! Someone was having a mighty tantrum. Thankfully, those close to Orange Leopard Spot would almost feel as they were being shielded by the worst of the effects--in some sort of egg equivalent of a hug. Just you stay close now. There was a lot of emotion to go around, and Teal Glow Egg wasn't even sure what to do. It had already been over-excited by all the attention it was receiving, but now Yellow Teal was having a breakdown, and Candidates were overwhelmed and OH SWEET FARANTH! LOUD NOISES!!! IS THAT WERE DOING NOW!? ARE YOU STAYING? ARE YOU GOING?!?!? WHAT DO WE EVEN DO!!!! DO EVERYTHING YOU WANT!! LETS DO IT! If an egg could be a physical representation of a kettte going off, that would be about the sensation any Candidates touching it would get. It wasn't upset or angry, but there is a clear sense of over-excitement, and a great need to do something rash. You only live once.

Green Tribal Egg
Those who dared to put a hand on Green Tribal would primarily found nothing but...judgment and disgust. Not at themselves, of course, but the way this entire situation was going down. Honestly now--was this necessary? Have some decency, egg, this is a Touching, not a creche. Yellow Swirl had better get its act together, or Green Tribal was going to put in a complaint! Yes, a complaint! Shame, little egg, shame! And those touching it would feel as indignant and disgusted as this egg. Really now. No propriety at all!

Butterfly Egg

For its part, the Butterfly Egg was wholly unmoved by its sibling's plight. It wasn't worried. It wasn't concerned. It wasn't even interested. I could have told you this would happen, it simply said, giving the impression of sheer... boredom. This was par for the course, in the egg's experience. Some of its siblings were just so dramatic.

Why did everyone want to come sit by it, though? Couldn't they tell that the egg had better things to be doing. Go away. Shoo. I'm very busy right now, you know. Doing... exactly what it wanted to do, whatever that might be. It was bored, it had egg things to do.

Purple and Teal Swirl Egg

Ha! Yes! Yesssss, this was more like it! The egg had been a little tired of being relegated to the back of the show. Front and center was where it belonged, even if it was only a couple of Candidates right in front of it. Let's all just dance together! ... Yellow Swirl is being a baby. If there were undertones of upset due to its sibling's impact, the egg was striving to ignore them. It was beautiful. It was magical. It... was tired of the draaaamaaa!

Yellow Swirl Egg

GO AWAY! the egg wailed, completely mired in its full meltdown mode. GO AWAAAAAY! I'M 'POSED TO BE GLOWIIIIIIIIIIIINNNNNGGGG!!!!!!!! and it was not, and it WASN'T FAIR! It wasn't FAIR! GO AWAY! The egg wanted to be ALONE! Didn't anyone understand? No one was leaving it ALONE! It pushed with all of its baby might, 'shoving' the nearby candidates from its shell, wailing and carrying on as any infant might at the worst of times. It had been deeply wronged, and it was not okay.

It didn't want to play games. Mama and Daddy couldn't make it better. Papa couldn't make it better. NOBODY COULD MAKE IT BETTER! Even the promise of glitter just made it even more upset because it was supposed to already be a glowing egg. If it didn't already have a glowing shell, it didn't want one glued on. It was SUPPOSED TO BE GLOOOOWING!!!!!!!

Spotted Green Egg

The egg, which up until now had been trying its best to remain calm, began to cry. Or as near as an egg could, if an egg could weep. The dragonet within was overwhelmed by the emotions around it, and even though some of the Candidates had tried to reassure it, it was having a very rough day indeed. Its siblings emotions radiated all over it, and... and it wasn't... sure if it was a nice egg.

Black and Rainbow Swirl Egg

Well I never! the egg declared, utterly perturbed by the complete lack of propriety displayed on the sands. Did no one have even the slightest touch of dignity and refinement? It was bad enough that its sibling was throwing a tantrum all over the place, but some people seemed to think it was acceptable to make conversations right above its shell! How terribly, terribly rude. As to its opinions on fashion, well, the egg certainly wasn't going to presume to make them known! It was an egg. What could it possibly have to say on the matter?

Orange Galaxy Egg

There was no sign that the egg had so much as twitched since its sibling had begun its theatrics. The egg did not give off any emotions at all. In fact, the only sense that any within its range could perceive was that it was weighing them. Measuring them. Anything beyond that was absolutely impossible to make out. It might as well have been a void.

"Candidates, the Touching is now over. Get off of the Sands at once, and in an orderly manner, if you please. Tomorrow Western Candidates will be reviewing Hatching basics, and I would urge you to recall that if the babies seem intense now they will only be more so when they hatch." Candidatemaster A'ral's tone brooked no argument. Hush now, young ones, Zinath said, her tone soothing, reaching out to provide comfort to some of the distraught Candidates. It would be up to Khamaith to display her maternal instincts when it came to the eggs themselves. The little green well knew her place in these affairs. But oh, how she ached to comfort them too!

Ara | she/her | Western

Ara flinched at the turbulence of an overwrought mindvoice from the dragon inside the egg. She had been yelled at before as a drudge, so the volume wasn't especially shocking, but the tenor of the dragonet's upset seemed less fury and displeasure than just alarm and over-excitement. She really wasn't sure how to deal with that. As the youngest of her parents' children, she'd never been required to care even for a younger sibling, and really didn't know what to do about the exuberance of youth.

She smiled at the teal eggshell and gave it a farewell pat. It is time for me to go. I'm glad I got to meet you.

Ara followed A'ral's instructions, moving away from the eggs. Before leaving the sands completely she remembered to turn and bow to Khamaith. Softly, she whispered, "Thank you."

She couldn't wait for the hatching.

Amahno - He/Him

Oh! It was time to leave now, and Amahno could understand why - but it didn't mean he liked any of it! He stepped away from where he'd been considering the next course of action and slowly made his way towards the stands where the others seemed to be gathering.

If he was tempted into running his hand over one last egg on the way, he'd indulge it for just a moment before he jogged off. What? He couldn't help it!

------

Fahn - She/Her
Fahn didn't seem to particularly mind that a certain tantruming sibling drew Purple Glitter's attention, instead taking a moment to bask in that nice radiating pleasure the egg had for everybody not between it and the other egg. It was a good time to just enjoy a few more seconds with this egg. And she would - until they were pulled away.

Leaning back dramatically, Fahn peered towards the candidatemasters before sighing. "I'm sorry, my dear, maybe next time we meet I can really get to soak in everything you have to show me," she lamented, but she still took her sweet time to part and actually head off towards F'dral and the others. There'd be a few minutes, sure, but it was a shame they couldn't spend them with the eggs still!

-------

Josen - He/Him
Well, things could have been worse - though if that was Josen's opinion or that of the egg he was touching he wasn't quite 100% sure because he couldn't help but agree! Don't you worry! You're absolutely right, Josen agreed, rubbing his hand over the shell of the Pink Striped egg. But it was also time to go.

Which perhaps was worse, because he'd been enjoying meeting everybody. But it was off with him, and he'd give his last egg of the day a fond farewell before he went - See you again soon!

Though it would feel like eternity to wait.

------

Juhvek - He/Him

Things had continued to melt down and all of the eggs were responding to their sibling's distress in various fashions - and another pair of siblings were reacting with a similar meltdown as they headed off towards the stands. Juhvek carefully stepped from the clutch as they were instructed to do so.

And since he was no longer at risk of being told to not tend to the feelings of the girls, he half-jogged to catch up with the sisters. He'd tend to this gushing of feelings now...if they even wanted him in it.

-----

Kadosse - She/Her
Kadosse was absolutely in Gold Striped's thrall as it shared all of the positive mirth and good spirit it had over the entire situation. It made it easier to not worry about other eggs that weren't this one - though it was less easy to simply just ignore A'ral's summon of all of the candidates off of the sands. The young woman gave a small, longing sigh.

But really, she'd have stayed with this egg for far too long if she wasn't hurried off in either direction and then she'd have just been in trouble all over.

Yet there was a small itch she couldn't help herself but scratch. It wouldn't be a large move, and she was certain she'd be yelled at for it, but Kadosse gave the egg a small push to shift it evvvvver so subtly. Then, with a mental giggle between conspirators and boy-girl-egg watchers, she was off as summoned.

------

Matotoka - He/Him

Matotoka would have indulged Purple and Teal Swirl its desire for a show and some good attention even more than he'd been able to if A'ral hadn't called for the Candidates to return - and if he hadn't felt like someone was staring him down from the next egg over. Oof, it was tired of drama, and there was drama in the making right there!

We can dance together when you hatch, hmm? Of course, the baby inside could have decided to be even more explosive at the hatching, but he'd wait and see. And maybe he'd think about that egg a little more once he was off the sands as requested by the Candidatemaster.

----

Papys - He/Him

It seemed he would not have time to say hello to anybody else today, and for that? Papys was rather sad. But still, standing at the front of the clutch he did his best to send them all - yes, even Yellow Swirl who was rejecting all love and support in its upset - a big wave of love. "I'll see you all next time!"

He waved to the eggs, as though they could see the gesture, and made his way to the stands to await their next instructions.

The worried glances from both Baihath and Khamaith were met with calm confidence from Turoth. All things considered, an egg meltdown was pretty mild. Many Candidates were doing the right thing and not touching eggs as they fought with their emotions and the ones that had managed to keep a handle on themselves - for the most part - were behaving. Emotions continued to grow as the other eggs reacted to Yellow Swirl, some good, some upset, yet the bronze didn't waver. He simply offered silent support for both dragons beside him, knowing this was stressful for them but hoping they would understand everything was fine.

When A'ral called for the Candidates to leave the sands Turoth gave a low hum, his tail twining again with Khamaith's amid his gentle waves of reassurance and soothing sensations to both other parents, as well as the eggs on the sands. There was nothing to worry about, all the babies were safe, no Candidates had been harmed, and all was well.

Sometimes it's best to let them cry it out. There's no consoling some of them, he murmured to Khamaith and Baihath, both of whom had tried to settle Yellow Swirl. You both did very well. Now the eggs can relax a little, settle down, and it's back to business as usual for us.

Rundanrul | Western

Rundanrul was surprised that the irritation he was feeling dimmed as Sunset Egg projected onto him. He didn't get a response but he could tell the dragon inside was trying to shield him from the obnoxious outburst from Yellow Swirl. The call to leave the sands came shortly after and Run pulled his hand back with a slightly thoughtful expression on his face. He lingered by the egg for a moment, wondering what sort of dragon might be inside, before following orders and returning to the Stands.

---

Surel | Western

Oh, this egg wasn't nearly as friendly as the other few had been. Upon being told to shoo Surel did just that, withdrawing her hand with a slight apology. She didn't have time to think about what to do next as A'ral called the Candidates from the sands. She was quick to scamper away, not wanting to bring about any undue distress to the eggs.

---

Vimeran | High Reaches

By the time A'ral had called for the Candidates to leave, Vimeran was already walking off the sands. The surge of emotions from the other eggs had overwhelmed the anger he was feeling, but he knew things were too emotionally volatile for him to properly touch any other shells. He'd have to wait until they Hatched to meet more of them.

Elibrie - she/her

Having removed herself to the tiers was making it a little easier to breathe, and even if the distance was only physical, psychogically it helped to be a bit farther away from the upset egg. Even when it had first started, and her emotions trying to run away with her, she had at least managed to choke everything back enough to not cry. That was something she would want no one to see, although of course if anyone could tell she was struggling, it would be her sister.

"That's okay," she agreed, returning the hand-squeeze, and next thing she knew they were being informed the Touching was over. It was hardly a surprise. What was a surprise was the sweet voice of reassurance - the Western Candidatemaster's dragon? Another deep breath to further compose herself and Elibrie stood, looking one more time at the eggs. In spite of her many doubts, she couldn't help but be disappointed they'd not been able to touch more, thanks to that inconvenient little seed of hope that maybe, just maybe, a dragon might really want a silly girl like her one day.

Her gaze slid past the parents, too, and she wondered for a moment why the mother didn't seem to be doing anything for the poor unhappy egg, then reminded herself that she might well be speaking to it, and she shouldn't assume that she knew any better. She was used to tending human children, not dragon ones, and there were very likely differences. She was also used to males being disinterested in the work of tending to children, and that at least seemed consistent from where she stood. As far as the white's involvement, she was a bit unclear on this whole arrangement in the first place, coming in from somewhere very different as she had.

Juhvek returned to them, and she was part relieved and a bit more anxious. She wouldn't want him to see that anything was or had been amiss, and was glad she'd been able to keep from tears. There would have been no denying those. It didn't seem appropriate to say anything just now, so she simply nodded.

It was time to go.

Tyanan / he, him / Western

The Black and Rainbow Swirl egg was upset. Tyanan immediately removed his hand from the shell, just in time to hear A'ral's order to leave the Sands. Probably for the better, as he looked around to see some of the other Candidatea in quite a state, either having a meltdown or sobbing on the sand or upset in some other way. "I'm sorry," he managed to murmur before he left, addressing all the eggs. "I hope the Hatching goes more smoothly." He then turned and calmly left, only glancing out of the corner of his eye at the other Candidates and at A'ral as he passed the Candidatemaster. Tyanan had been through worse Touchings, but it always bothered him when one went bad like this one had. He had no idea what had set things off; he hoped it wasn't one of his fellow Candidates....

*********

Trude / she, her / Western

"Oh no," Trude said softly as the Spotted Green Egg started crying. "I'm sorry I'm sorry I didn't mean to upset you!" Tears welled in her eyes; had she been the one to set the dragonet inside the egg off? She hoped not -- otherwise this could be the end of her life as a potential dragonrider. And that was all she left had to hope for. Then she heard A'ral order all the Candidates off the Sands, and she quickly took her hand off the egg and, wiping her face, turned to leave. What had she done? She had ruined her life. The tears came harder now, and she sniffled as she walked past A'ral. Would this be it for her? She had no way of knowing, and that was somehow worse than anything else.

Aelyx - Western Weyr

Honestly, the mixed feelings from all the different eggs made her stomach turn. Her hand pulled back and she looked around with concern until at last the Candidatemaster made the call. Okay. Time to go. Upset eggs were nothing to joke about. Taking a deep breath in, she did her best to smooth out her own ruffled edges, eager to go rest in the barracks for a moment. Just a moment's peace to allow herself time to unwind. Dragons as a whole made her a little bit nervous at this point, after everything. Nonetheless, she wanted to do this. And if she wanted to KEEP doing this, she needed to be the best she could be. Head up, well behaved, studious. Personal feelings aside for the sake of the eggs, until she was in private and could let it out.

Love enveloped her, wrapped itself around her and just like that, the emotions that had been flaring died down and it felt as though Etansi could breathe again. Of course the beginnings of a panic state began to set in just as she was cooling down, the hand that touched hers had her nearly jump and she glanced over at Dystzha nervously. A smile flashed across her face very briefly and she nodded to the other teen before sending a little bit of love to the egg in response to it's own. To the mental hug it had given her as it shielded her.

Then, very quickly, she took her hand away from both and stood up. If she could have she'd have shaken herself like a dog to get rid of the feelings that had been swamping her, were still now that she had removed her hand and left the warm comfort of the Orange Leopard Spot Egg. Now she was prepared for it though, now the panic that was rising despite Zinath's words that played in her head was making it so she was shielding herself with all the armor she'd ever used in the past. Her facial expression showed it as she walked off the sands, her eyes casting about edgily. It was how she'd protected herself in the past, to not be vulnerable around anyone and even if she'd not needed it, been told she'd not need it in the Weyr, she pulled it back on like well worn clothing and left the sands.

She'd find somewhere to hide when everything was over and let herself mull over what she had done wrong and what she should do next then. Etansi refused to fall apart in front of others and their judgement or their kindness, as both could be painful.

Sablie-She/her, Western Weyr

Sablie was a little surprised, but not perturbed at the declaration from the egg that her hand was on. She wondered if she was considered one of those lacking dignity, though she knew she wasn't the most refined. As for the fashion bit, she supposed that was a fair point, since the baby may not have an opinion. When she heard A'ral calling them to off the sands, she nodded her head. While she wished they could touch some more eggs, she understood that they couldn't distress the babies any longer. So with a fond farewell to the egg she was at and a hope they would find their rider, she got up and headed in the direction of the entrance.

Hopefully everyone gets a chance to take a breath. I do wonder what happened with that little egg though,Sablie thought to herself once she was safely with the others. She could see some of her fellow candidates were upset, probably because of something the egg brought up in them. If any wanted to talk to her, they certainly could.

Jemaselle High reaches Weyr

"I get that egg," She muttered, and left the black and rainbow swirl into a temper tantrum from one of the others in the clutch. She ran her tongue over her teeth keeping herself from grinding them. She kind of wanted to and huffed, letting the breath out. Out and out, exhale and then breath in.

It didn't do much. Wen could close his eyes and fall into serenity loosing all outside influence in a blink.. she well, it was still there. In her gut. She moved away, walking a bit away, considering. She was.. it wasn't the first time she had been angry but she could swallow it for now. It wasn't truly her anger.

She sighed and set a hand on the Tribal green egg. 'You and your sibs holding up alright?' She questioned the egg. 'This is suppose to be your day so we can talk about something else if you want.'

She paused looking up and nodded as the candidate master spoke. "sorry egg, got to do." She muttered and left the sand.

Whren

Whren sat back on his heels, less disappointed and more thoughtful and sighed, relaxing back and let the anger wash over him and away. He opened his eyes, resting them over the golden swirls and stood up and stepped away. It was fine.
He focused on other things, what breakfast had tasted like, the faint feelings of his flits as they stirred, just brushing against his mind in reassurance and back.

He sighed and walked slowly, looking over the eggs and stopped reaching down and gently touched a the purple galaxy egg. 'Is this alright? I don't want to pressure you with the over excitement.' He would leave as need or stay and talk.

Ooh they called for the ending of the touch. He nodded, gave a soft apology to the egg for leaving so fast and followed the rest out.

(Missed the ending call.)
