Monday, June 24th, Late Morning, Cloudy, Fog & Mist, 68F/20C
Finger tapped on the steering wheel. Rear view mirror on Ginma. Gasai kept him in sight throughout the ride. It took the agent fifteen minutes to update Haruno on the situation. He spared no details about his first visit to the crime scene and then his interview with Mage Willow and the adjustments made to the Bloodhound. He would not mention Ginma's energy signature. They were here to re-investigate with the new information. Car in park. The Amber Alerts on their phones sounded. Gasai stepped out of the vehicle to light up a cigarette and remove the notification on his phone. He waited for the two at the edge of the roadside. The area was a different sight than this morning. Not a soul lingered. Grass and shrubs were matted down from the foot traffic, but no trace of a crime scene remained. UDA had done their part in cleaning up. He turned to the pair, eyes on the twerp.
"Anything you witness today will not be shared with civilians. Understand that doing so puts our work at risk. You will remain silent or you will find silence in a grave. Haruno is responsible for your safety. I am responsible for hers. Don't get the two messed up. Spark, eyes out," the threat was not idle and clearly meant to intimidate Ginma. Spade had to make the circumstances to the venture clear to both Mage and Human. "Let's go," he ordered, walking down the beaten path after extinguishing his cigarette. Putting on a pair of clear-lens glasses, Gasai botted up the optical scanner for the blood hound. Years ago, he used the same technology to detect hiding Mages. Now, he was looking for something else...
About one hundred meters from the roadside, Spade would stop the group at a clearing where the ground was barren save for a few dark stains from blood shed. Syncing up the glasses to the new Bloodhound settings, Gasai's eyes opened to something new. "Shards," he stated, bending down to pick up the glass-like substance. It didn't reflect light. It was nearly transparent. Pulling out a vial, Gasai gathered samples in his pocket for safe keeping. Kyrie would investigate them at the lab later.

Despite the critical information the Agent was sharing, the midnight beauty was finding it difficult to concentrate. Not only was she distracted by the feigning strength of the bobbing sugarplum beside her, but awkward surges of adrenaline coursed through her veins. Arms folded oddly under her chest, Mika kept her fists unnoticeably balled up. Electrical static threatened to seep from her finger tips, but the Mage would not allow her mana to run rampant. Out of the details Spade shared, she advised him to be prepared. "Its not Rank 2," Mika could feel the slight strain in her voice. Forcing herself to take a deep breath, she calmed down by concentrating, focusing, meditating and gently blowing air along with the discord from betwixt her lips.
As the car came to a halt alongside the ditch, Mika's reaction was rather similar to Masaaki's. However, she jolted into action. Out the car before the others, her eyes went beyond sight as mana trickled into the ground. Seismic vibrations so subtle that no one would notice echoed silently beneath the Earth's surface. The magical sonar showed the Mage nothing was in the proximity aside from the three present. Walking around the vehicle, Mage Spark caught the tail end of Spade's conditions. "Haruno is responsible for your safety. I am responsible for hers. Don't get the two messed up." Biting her tongue, she forced its stillness. With the knowledge that Agent Valkyrie had bestowed upon her, Mika knew Spade would eat those words later.
Keeping her spell use to a minimum until danger became present, the midnight beauty marched in line with the other two. The soldier of UDA was becoming frustrated with herself. Relentless anxiousness taunted her mana and she couldn't understand why. Looking over to Masaaki as he gazed at the tear in the sky, she could only guess. But what could she say to calm him or reassure him in an uncertain and dangerous excursion such as this? Lashes fluttering with frustration, the Mage tried to stick to her duty. It wasn't long before the Agent lead them to the desired destination while making a new discovery. It must've been Kyrie's alterations to the Bloodhound that allowed Gasai to find new evidence.
Standing watch, the steadfast soldier kept her eyes out and her feet light. Weight balanced with every foot step, she silently circled the pair as Spade collected samples and Masaaki looked on curiously. Desperately, she searched the treeline for any sign of the Empyrean. "Where are you?" Keeping a close proximity, her palms itched to take the safety off her hidden weapon. "Come out already," Haruno was so fixated on the appearance of the enemy that she did not waste an ounce of attention on anything else until a gentle whisper softened her hardened state.
"M-mika..." She melted at the sound of his voice and took to heart what he tried to explain. The melody he hummed didn't strike her as odd or recognizable. Earlier when he explained the dream, Masaaki mentioned a melody. However, Mika hadn't thought anything of it then. With her mana feeling so chaotic, it was hard for the Mage to be her typical deductive self. Taking a deep breath as she did before in the car, she let her mana reach out again to check the area but to no avail. "Like there's something here." It was frustrating for her not to be aware nor hear what he could so clearly. Mika held a certain sense of pride for being better than any Bloodhound and she could feel it in her gut that an Empyrean was close by. Her instincts told her to trust Masaaki. Yet, it was difficult for her to be accepting of it in a situation that affected her ego.
"If something's here then where is it?" Although agitation was evident in Mika's tone, she did her best to be compassionate. Belief in her eyes, Masaaki could put paranoia to rest as the midnight beauty looked to him. She knew something was here too. However, it seemed she was powerless in finding it. Ego aside, Mika brought her hands about his, clasping over them tenderly to still his fidgeting habit. Palms heated from the unsteady flow of adrenaline, there was a warmth there that could comfort the crawling chill running through his skin. Vice versa, the spontaneous inflammation of vehement mana was iced by his frigid shudders. "Masaaki," she whispered, squeezing his hands gently with encouragement. She needed him to guide her. If this were a horror film, Mika would rather be the antagonist emerging from the shadows on their prey. Being the victim did not suit her.

Watching Masaaki exhale with confidence threatened the battle hardened expression on Mika's face. Seeing him calm and gaining composure in a situation so surreal to his world made her want to smile. Although weak in physique and bashful to confrontation, his ability to trust and adapt to the situation was something the midnight beauty found admirable. Only one nerve caused him to skip a beat as he announced, "A-alright." As his sugarplum crown nodded, he took the lead after focusing on which direction the song originated. With Spade tailing closely, the trio moved through the coastal plain towards the treeline. Mika could almost hear the melody as she felt the pounding of Masaaki's heart pump blood through his veins. Hand grasping his tightly, she had no desire to let go. Tactically, holding hands was a disadvantage. Encontrar, he was conductively grounding her wiry power surges with only a palm's embrace. Eyes sharp, she was able to keep a better look out with her mana in-check. When they came to the clearing, she spotted the cocoon immediately.
Weapon unlocked on her free hand, the UDA mechanism silently released the highly conductive wire. The ebony chord trailed behind them, her own snake in the grass as they approached the slumbering Empyrean. The Mage was not hasty to attack. Although she wished to be the one to draw first blood, the operative would not lash out blindly. Entanglements with Empyreans in the past had taught her to be wary and test the waters. Serpentine limbs coiled the sinister glow as Masaaki confirmed the siren's song was coming from within. Unlike a caterpillar who slept in its morphing stage, the devil from the sky was aware of its surroundings. Dozens of eyes opened on its limbs and their focal point was... "Masaaki!" stating his name defensively, Haruno let go of his hand to stand between him and the demon. Unknown to the midnight beauty, the creature's spell was already spun on the light hearted sovereign. Its introspective voice deafened Mika's from reaching Masaaki's delicate ears.
Fluidly moving through the sandy grassland, the sinister extremities started towards them. Fingertips crackling with raw energy, Mage Spark held no fear in her heart as the ebony venom melted the earth. "Chi-ld of EmpYre-an." Rounds shot off from the Agent's gun causing Mika's lashes to flutter and her body to react. However, she stilled her reflexes. Empyreans were known to always going for the kill, yet her mentor still stood. Wrapped in the shadowy grasp of the Empyrean, the sludge slowly burned at his clothing. "The gAte a-a-aWaits yoU." It was... inviting her to the gate. One foot crossing in front of the other, Mika kept her hand casually back so the trail of wire would lay protectively by Ginma. She could defend him at a moment's notice while distancing herself from him. Masaaki stood petrified. The soldier of UDA sensed something wrong, but could not break contact with the enemy. It would risk both their lives.
"Child of Empyrean?" she spoke slowly, acting as though her heart strings were being pulled by the monster's eerie title for the Mage. Mika portrayed a look of confusion and longing as she stepped closer to the out reached hand. Feminine, yet incomplete, was the Empyrean attempting to meld itself into a motherly figure? Haruno knew better than to fall for feeble emotions of belonging. It may have worked on other Mages, but Spark understood there was something the Empyrean wanted. "I... want to go to the gate," she begged, stepping closer to the devil coated in black reaching up towards its dripping palm. Tips of her boots standing at the edge of the venom, Mika's heart wavered. For a moment, her act deceived her own perception. The allure of the creature was persuading her mind to fulfill the Empyrean's desires. Take its hand. Go with it to the gate. Be obedient and come along- But the hiss of acid against her boots, reminded Haruno of what she truly felt.
It didn't kill Agent Spade on site, because he had something it wanted; shards. Masaaki wasn't petrified by fear, it was whispering something in his ear just like the melody. The thing before her wasn't some kind of welcoming mother figure come to take the Mage home, but an alien coming to consume. "I want to go to the gate, to close it," the midnight beauty said, hidden wire shooting out from her wrist to impale the Empyrean's palm. Instantaneously, the Mage's fingers came alive. Crackles of burning white indigo rumbled as mana gushed from her body, racing up the wire to attack the devil's hand before her. With several flicks of her wrist, Haruno looped the wire around the Empyrean's limb refusing to let it go. Electricity also raced down the snake Mika left in the grass, dancing out at anything that dared to come near Masaaki. The soldier stood defensively, ready to disconnect the wire binding the two the moment the tendrils reacted or the blades making up its lower body quivered.

Reaching the coast had been pretty easy, leaving the dorms they then took a rather nerve fueled bus ride where Ikki talked animatedly about anything and everything as if to drown out the voice in his head and fill the silence so he didnt feel like he was crazy. In a sense Eris could understand his fear and concern about the whole thing and deep down she was worried about him too; something like this wasn't a good sign and a part of her was actually very afraid that the other was getting sick or something due to his close interactions to her. It was unlikely of course, as she'd come into contact with non-mages before...usually by way of scientists and agents, even so, her mind raced with terrible scenarios that could land one of her own friends into trouble "It will be okay" She muttered hugging Mr Yuki tighter to her chest as she looked about the window to the passing scenery trying to convince herself more than Ikki.
Getting off the bus Iris could almost breathe in that strange charged feeling from before, that sinking sensation in her gut twisted and she knew something was terribly wrong "Ikki, stay with me" She murmured softly for once being the one to voluntarily grabbing a hold of his hand and squeezing it firmly as they headed won't the stone steps to the beach sand rustling under their feet as they moved.
Eris was surprised when she saw Willow; last she'd heard the poor boy had been sent back to U.D.A for questioning over what happened with his classmate it looks like whatever happened had a connection to the beach as well...did this mean that Willow wasn;lt the only one here? Surely they'd be against and other mages as well.
Running down the coastline was a single young man. "Eris!" Willow's voice called out through his heavy breathing. "I'm so glad you're here," the boy said, hands on his knees as he came to a stop. His shoes and pants were wet up to his knees. Faint splatters of washed out blood still remained on the cloth, but could only be noticed by perceptive eyes.
"Aru...whats going on?" She asked softly that bad feeling in ehr stomach growing enough for the short girl's legs to tremble not from fear but anticipation her instinct telling ehr to initiate 'fight or flight' at any moment were on full alert as she stood there as Willow explained the situation.

∴ Tachibana Aru_____ ∴ Mage » "Willow" ══════════════════════════════════════════════
"There are no agents with you, right? I... UDA... Nobu," he stood up, taking a deep breath realizing who was in her company. Ikki and Aru didn't speak much at school since Aru exclusively spent his time with Nobu, but he knew of the loudmouth. UDA would not want him to speak in front of the civilian about agency secrets, but Aru no longer cared. Gaining his breath, he gave no attention to Ikki. "Listen, there's an Empyrean on the loose and it killed Nobu!" he shouted, his heart still aching but soothed slightly by one thing he held onto.
"This... this is what's left, but there's more. I think... I think it's his soul... his memories. I don't know how else to explain it, but Kyrie gave it to me. She told me I had to find the rest. I think the Empyrean... Kyrie thinks the Empyreans... they tore Nobu apart to take this. Please, help me get the other pieces back. Please!" his body was shaking as tears started coming down his cheeks. Nobu was exhausted. The sour mouthed punk had never been so distraught in all his life. He was always making smart remarks and trying to break the rules. This was all out of character for him. He was desperate. He was losing his mind. "I can't lose Nobu," he hid his face, dirty, scratches and blood under his nails.
~*~
Eris didn't know what to make of the behaviour of the other, this was unlike anything she'd ever seen out of him before; he was rebellious and acted like a smart a** but this was...entirely new and she couldn't help but feel genuine sympathy for him and his loss as she looked down at the scrap he clutched in bloodied hands. So this was a fragment of the boy who had been killed by Empyrean...reaching out she touched it gently and closed her eyes; she didn't see any visions, but she got a sense of emotions from it, a sense of who Nobu had been as a person before he'd passed, this would help her locate the other pieces if they felt similar.
Moving her hand away and opening her eyes after a moment she looked thoughtful; it was interesting she hadn't expected to sense anything and yet she had, even more so the other had seen into his soul or fragments of his memories...perhaps it was because the two had been rather close that it allowed the other to see such things? All she had at the moment were theories and feelings, but it would have to do.
The other practically begged her to help find the other pieces of his friend and she looked sideways, concerned to Ikki who had been off in his own world still hearing the melody she couldn't. Eris wanted to help Ikki but she could ignore Aru either who was clearly still grief-stricken; the white-haired girl was shy with people but she couldn't just ignore Aru when he was like this, she wasn't that close to Willow but he was a fellow mage and if the roles were reversed she'd want his help too in a scenario like this. "Alright, I'll do what I can, point me in the right direction, all I ask is you keep an eye in him," She said pointing up to Ikki.
"Eh? Where are you going Eris-chan?" Ikki managing to hear the last end of the conversation looking concerned as he was suddenly handed her bag and Mr Yuki as she shrugged off ehr outer jacket and wrapped it around Willow in an attempt to keep him warm and a comforting gesture
"I think there might be a fight coming so you have to stay here with Aru-kun where it's safe until I come back do NOT wander off okay?" She said giving the other a pointed look before nodding to Aru before rushing down towards the beach where the other sent her.
It wasn't; long before she found Mika, Agent spade and an Empyrean like none other engaged in combat, in reflex as the Empyrean quivered and started to stand it suddenly felt its body slam down into the floor unable to move as Eris exerted pressure upon it so it couldn't move; the crackle of electricity around Haruno hit into her side but a weak barrier dampened the effects as she moved closer able to increase the pressure upon it the closer she was.

Bus. Bus. Bus. Ikki liked riding the bus. He preferred his little scooter the most for a ride out to the shoreline, but the bus was more convenient and with his head ringing-probably not the best choice for him to drive them out to the shoreline. So, he rambled about anything and everything to get his mind off the melody. “It will be okay.” Eris said. So cute! Eris nestled into Mr. Yuki, hugging it closer as she looked out the window. Man, the way she was hugging her plushie… Ikki had the urge to hug her like that! Seeing her far-out stare into the scenery made him want to pull her back in. He remembered how scared and timid the girl had been when they first met. She had come a long way, at least when around him, but now she felt withdrawn. He totally wanted to say something about how cute she was, but the bus came to a stop for them to get off.
Getting off behind Eris, Ikki took a deep breath and instantly started choking. “Maaaaan! The air is thick! Is it humid? The air’s kind of hot and sticky- No, cold and dry? Its inbetween temperatures and moistures!” he was doing it again, attempting to talk about anything to drown out the singing in his head, but he couldn’t now. Palm against his forehead, he ruffled his orange locks. He felt sick and he couldn’t put up a charade to hide it anymore. The color ran from his face like he had seen a ghost. “Its pretty loud here, Eris,” he admitted, the sick feeling in his gut really getting to him. Was he going to hurl? Man… maybe he should run into the bushes quick? He didn’t want to hurl in front of Eris. Uncool, broh.
"Ikki, stay with me" her tiny voice broke through the crashing sounds and thoughts in his head. As her itty bitty hand found his, a settling feeling washed over the toil and trouble brewing in his belly. It still felt weird, but a softer, warm good-weird feeling. It was making his cheeks warm up too. “I will not leave Eri-chan’s side,” Ikki promised, letting the warm feeling erupt through the volume of his voice as he squeezed her hand back. “This way,” Ikki said, leading the way to the shoreline, but keeping a decent enough pace so he wasn’t dragging Eris around like a rag doll.
Once they got to the shore, someone else called out Eri-chan’s name. Ikki was surprised, but maybe the guy had something singing in his head too. Maybe there really was an evil witch luring handsome men down to the shoreline to devour their insides! Well, Tachibana wasn’t handsome- neither was Nobu. Appetizer, main course so- IKKI WAS THE DESSERT! But, hold up. How did Tachibana know Eris? He figured everyone in the dorms, well at least half, were Mages. So, since Tachibana knew Eri, and she wasn’t running away, then he must be a mage. Yeah, definitely. Eri wasn’t shying away from him, so her reaction meant she knew Tachibana.
Everything Aru said went over Ikki's head. Names he didn’t know and stuff he couldn’t really comprehend. Nothing really stuck besides the Empyrean killing Nobu. “W-WHAT!? I thought those were all trapped behind the barrier!? That’s what we were taught in school. That’s what the police say- did the barrier break? Are we being invaded again?” Ikki didn’t remember much when the Empyreans invaded, but his Mommy had always taught him to fear them and not the Mages. His own panic was put aside as Tachibana started crying, desperately asking for help from Eris. Ikki couldn’t stand it when someone was crying. Hand on Tachibana’s shoulder, Ikki gave him a reassuring squeeze and a POWERFUL thumbs UP. “I’m here for you, broh,” he told him in a serious yet comforting tone.
Eris seemed to understand what Tachibana was talking about and was ready to get a move on. Ikki flashed a smile like he was going to go with the girl, but then she pointed at him to stay put. It was like a shot to the heart, and Ikki grabbed his chest. "Eh? Where are you going Eri-chan?" he took hold of her bag and plushie, surprised as she surrendered Mr. Yuki to him while putting her jacket over Nobu. Oh, man, Ikki was melting at the sight. Eris was so kind and thoughtful. He wished she was draping her warm jacket over him! But, wait- She told him a fight was coming. No way Ikki was going to stay behind! “W-What!? I’m not scared of a fight! I can-” he started, but then Willow grabbed his arm to keep him put while Eris took off. The sinking feeling returned as he watched the little lady run away. Palm against his temple, Ikki didn’t like the situation. This wasn’t right. He couldn’t be here while Eri was off to fight an Empyrean. "Ikki, stay with me" Eris had said that when they got off the bus. Why was she so eager to go off by herself now? She was scared of strangers and shy to boot. Could she really face something so scary? “Gaaah!” Ikki groaned, tucking Mr. Yuki in the backpack (BUT making sure his nose could poke out so the plushie wouldn’t suffocate.). He tried to put both arms through the loops, but Willow wouldn’t let go. “Dude! C’mon! I can’t let Eris go alone. If something happens to her, I’d never forgive myself!”
“I killed them,” Aru confessed, his entire body shaking, his eyes wide and his magical ability creeping out. His green veins became prominent as the strength of his grip became more than Ikki could escape. Ikki was petrified by the eeriness of the other dude. Who did this shrimp kill and why the heck was he so dang strong!? Ikki couldn’t break away and he was losing sight of Eris. Mage Willow could no longer see straight. His vision was fading and his mind was racing. He didn’t feel like himself. Clenching the shard tighter and tighter, it cut into his palm. Aru looked down at his pants. Why was he wet? Where had the blood come from? “The agents,” he said, bottom lip quivering as he remembered slaughtering the two Kyrie sent with him to find Nobu.
Ikki’s throat went dry. “UDA Agents?” he gulped, “You killed, UDA agents? Shouldn’t you… should you go back to the facility maybe and-”
“They said Nobu was dead, but he’s right here. He’s right here and the Empyrean has the rest. Eris… Eris is going to help get him back,” Aru was in a trance, obsessing over the small piece he held and the memory that constantly played like a daydream. The shard in his hand vibrated lightly, yearning to be reunited with the rest of the pieces. Willow had to bring Nobu together. Nothing else mattered. Letting go of Ikki, Willow started after Eris like a zombie, the Mage let Eris’s jacket fall off his back as he followed in her direction. Ikki wasn’t sure what to do. This kid was nuts! He was really losing it and if he did kill the agents… Who’d be next? The song stopped. Picking up Eri’s jacket, he followed behind Tachibana who seemed to start walking faster until he was running. Ikki kept pace!
“STOP! YOU’RE HURTING HIM!” Tachibana cried out as they came into the clearing where Haruno Mika and Saito Eris were double teaming an Empyrean. Ikki was mesmerized, terrified and bedazzled by the scene as he stood behind Tachibana. And luckily he was, because Aru’s power manifested. Green veins shot out from his wrists like the branches of a willow tree. Eris was suppose to help, but she was hurting Nobu. Arm cranking back, Mage Willow had to stop her… had to stop them both! Ikki could tell he was not going to attack the Empyrean. No way he’d let the guy hurt Eris! “Hey!” Ikki yelled, hand reaching out to grab Tachibana’s arm and yank him back. “What are you doing, man!?” Ikki pushed him back, the veins from Tachibana’s arm wrapping around Ikki’s hand. It burned Ikki’s skin, but there was no heat. What the heck!? Was it a type of poison? Like a stinging nettle or poison sumac? Ah, man, shitty!

The twisted body of the Empyrean convulsed from the sparks mercilessly barbecuing it. Tendrils twitching, it still attempted to reach out and grab the boy trapped in a hallucination, but the web of electricity lying in the grass kept it at bay. The creature tried to retaliate, but another interfered. Kinetic energy barreled down on the abomination making it near impossible to move any affected extremities. Yet another interfered, weakening the telepathic assault. Too many. The Empyrean was spreading itself thin. It needed to retreat and reinforce. Hallucination broken, the tendrils retracted, save the one holding the agent. . . And like hot wax, the Empyrean melted into the returned coils as if it were cocooning once more.

Eyes couldn't focus. The lack of oxygen was affecting him, but he could make out Haruno in the shadows. Her magic was wild and burned bright in the dimming world. The agent's ribs cracked as the white fire caused spasms throughout the Empyrean's body. Moments away from fading to black, another figure entered the fray. Saito appeared and pressured the creature further. It weakened its grip. And as the abomination struggled in its telepathic battle against Ginma, it finally lost. Consciousness about to give, the Empyrean suddenly released the agent. Sweet air filling his lungs once more, Gasai quickly rose to his feet. However, his vision returned just in time to see the snake curve back and bare its teeth. Tendril raced into him like a spear, puncturing his chest and tearing into his flesh. "Grgh," the agent grunted, resisting the urge to cry out. Jagged razors tore into his flesh as the appendage dug and sucked in order to devour the shards in his pocket. Ace could see the shards illuminate with the dark tendril just before it retracted. Ripping away as quickly as it had attacked, blood gushed from Gasai's chest. Palm pressing against the wound, the agent couldn't help but fall to his knees. "Cut off that tendril!" he shouted as loud as he could over the sounds of crackling air. Bloodied hand reached for his gun, taking aim and firing what shots he had left in the clip. Bullets screamed towards the creature, but never hit their mark. Hot barrel of the gun against his exposed flesh, the agent cried out in pain as some of the bleeding was cauterized.

"I'm getting Nobu back!" Mage Willow desperately cried his answer to Ikki's question, his veins gripping even tighter on the other and another branch shooting from his arm to wrap around the boy's neck. Like the head of a needle, the green veins slid through Kabuto's skin and into his blood stream. Tachibana let his blood flow freely. It acted as poison and it began to stain Ikki's skin green. "I'll kill anyone who gets in my way. . . " An unbearable burn would coarse through Ikki's veins causing intense pain. The longer Willow's blood trickled into Kabuto's, the darker the stain and the stronger the sting. It would drive Ikki mad, wishing to rip off his own skin. The magical veins were strong, like the dangling branches of a Willow tree. However, they were not invincible. . . Could Ikki break free or would he need help? ☰☱☲☳☴☵☶☷☰☱☲☳☴☵☶☷☰☱☲☳☴☵☶☷☰☱☲☳☴☵☶☷ E m p y r e a n The Empyrean would make it difficult for any help to be given to Ikki or Ace. Shards in possession, body protected by the returned tendrils coiling it, the creature of the sky retaliated. The extremity holding the shards was reinforced, growing thicker before swinging widely- aimed to hit low against the waist of Eris and Mika. A second attack would coincide with it. The blades that made up the creature's under belly shot out like bullets from within the coils. Smooth, thin and sharp. A dozen knives raced towards the two Mages as the giant tendril came to knock them off their feet. The powerful swing was not only meant to push back the Mages, but also seize the in-tact shard holder; Masaaki. The end of the tendril split, reaching out to grab the boy who had just freed himself from the clutches of a nightmare. Now, he would live it. Meanwhile the shards taken from Ace traveled down the throat of the tentacle, getting closer to the Empyrean. . .
Sylamb Syl: Mika is in a position to either help Masaaki or get the shards. She can not do both. However, she must first deal with the attacks being thrown at her.
Jade Rotaski Jade: Eris is in a position to help Ikki or get the shards. She can not do both. However, she must first deal with the attacks being thrown at her.
Sherbert Lullaby Sherby: Congratulations on saving Eris from a backstab. Will she choose to help him in return?
kotaro17 Kota: Superb escape from the realm of terror. Reality isn't any better. Let's see if Mika is as reliable as Alpha, shall we?

H A R U N O ✵ M I K A▬▬▬▬▬▬ ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ ▬▬▬▬▬▬ ▬▬▬▬▬▬ ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ ▬▬▬▬▬▬ M A G E ✵ S P A R K
Even a soldier as seasoned as Mika would not be able to perceive everything taking place on the battlefield. Her focus was primarily on a heavy hitting forward attack to the Empyrean. Spade was still within her peripherals, but to aid him would leave Masaaki defenseless. She was confident the agent had a trick up his sleeve and would not come to his aid. Steadfast with her promise to keep him safe, Mage Spark never lost sight of Masaaki during the onslaught. Leaving Gasai to his own fate...
Haruno took notice of Eris when her telekinetic powers changed the air, beating down on the alien's twisted form in support to Mika's attack. The timid Mage braved the electric storm to stand beside the midnight beauty in the assault, utilizing her barrier magic to avoid harm from friendly fire. Energy pouring out, Haruno moved slowly towards Eris as she approached the enemy. While Mika would not rely on the pale haired girl during battle, she more than welcomed her power. Haruno always believed Eris possessed the most dynamic abilities in the known arsenal of magic, but her reserved character never allowed the magic's full potential to be utilized. It was emotional and unstable as she had voiced previously after the incident at the Park.
Over the sounds of intertwining spells relentlessly damaging the shadowy creature, Mika could hear a voice crying out in the distance, but it wasn't Masaaki's. Remaining vigilant in the assault, she would not spare the turn of her head to address it, especially with Masaaki petrified. Hips turning to channel her lightning, she allowed more room for Eris to move in without exhausting extra magic on her barrier. Mika's attention only became distracted when Masaaki's body lunged as if he had been running. Tendrils on the move as Ginma's sugar plum crown collided with Aru, the midnight beauty split her attention. "MIKA!" Hearing him call her name birthed a new instinct. Nerves fired with adrenaline, moving to react protectively towards Masaki. Which left her blinded to the coiling reinforcement the Empyrean was creating. Wire danced behind her to keep the threat of Mage Willow and the coiling extremities away from her friend. With that decision, Agent Spade was sacrificed. The monster tearing into his flesh, hungry for what he carried. "Cut off that tendril!" Gasai's voice broke through the crashing symphony of the battlefield, calling Haruno's attention as the glowing shards were swallowed by a single tentacle. Its form bulged, growing stronger and faster as it swung at the pair of Mages.
Chaos demanded instantaneous reaction or death would befall them all. Wire released from the Empyrean's hand and sparks ceasing, Haruno whipped the assaulting wire through the air while her arm laced around Eris in one swift motion. Wire secured around the overhanging branches of the tree the Empyrean was cocooned under, Haruno weakened the gravity around them allowing the Mages to take flight- away from the path of the tendril that would otherwise flatten them to the ground. While her wires were entangled in their evasion efforts, the Empyrean bolstered its attack with the blades Mika had been wary of earlier. With Eris in tow, no amount of twisting and turning would allow the pair to dodge the onslaught of knives. Tightening her grip on the girl, there was no time to speak. Haruno did not trust the inexperienced Mage to defend them in battle and braced for the worst. However, the soldier of UDA was proven wrong...
Thanks to Eris, the blades did not strike the pair down. If there was any amount of aptitude in Mage Psi, it was defense. Mika only recalled the girl attacking her once in the torture sessions the scientists of UDA called "training exercises." Blessed with that split second of safety, Mika was able to get a full view of the battlefield. The remainder of that second was used to designate the next course of actions. Continuing the motion of their evasion, the midnight beauty released Eris from her grasp at a safe moment. While she would be free of harm from the Empyrean, a painless landing would be up to the girl herself. Haruno could not coddle her when Masaaki's life was at risk.
The same extremity the Mages were leaping over frayed at its end, barreling towards the dizzied sweet heart while the shards traveled down its length. Agent Spade had ordered her to cut off the tendril, but with the bolstered layers Haruno would not be able to do so with her wires. She could tear through extraterrestrial flesh and acquire the shards, but the tendrils would have Masaaki in their clutches by the time she did so. Wire releasing from the tree, Haruno's body reacted to her strongest instinct; protect Masaaki.
Mika's snake in the grass rolled to life as the plum crowned teen turned to face the threat head-on. Heart racing with confidence as she watched her dear friend dive at the tendrils, the ebony wires lassoed the frayed ends to keep them from devouring Masaaki as they did Spade. Muscles screaming as the inertia of her body switched gears, she still summoned strength. With one tight jerk, the tentacles were in submission, her feet were on the ground and nothing could tear into Masaaki. Wires retracting, pulling her to the split ends while keeping them tamed, Mika's heels slid over the earth. Knowing she wouldn't be able to wrestle the tendrils for long, mana began to surge from her fingertips.
Just as she was passing under the shards a familiar item carelessly careened through the air, falling innocently from Masaaki's pocket during the confrontation with the dark extremities. Seizing the opportunity, the soldier of UDA wrapped one arm around both wires. The force of the tendrils pulling on both wires dislocated her shoulder, but Haruno had freed a hand allowing her to reach back. Indigo fire arced through the air and down the wires at the same time. Sparks flew as the Mage kicked against the ground, diving towards Ginma protectively as a large amount of heat warmed her back. The midnight beauty did everything she could to shield him from the combustion, although Mika's slender frame didn't offer much. She was not hardened to defend or protect, but to critically attack which would be why she was so clumsy at it.
"The Shards," Mika whispered harshly to Masaaki, forcing herself not to cling or hold him for longer than necessary. The battle was still on. She disconnected the wires and stripped the burning clothing from her back while tapping out lingering embers. Blisters already formed around her melted skin, but it wouldn't stop her. Taking her shirt, she wrapped it around her dislocated arm pivoting on the balls of her feet before crashing her body into the ground for relocation. "Tch!" she winced in pain, but would not allow her lids to bite back on her eyes. While the debilitating injures were tended to, Mika kept her sights on Masaaki. She was ready to throw herself into the fray at any moment.
Quote: Have a safe crash landing, Eris!
Quote: Masaaki's post will help clarify the actions taken against the hentai attack.
Quote: I noticed this had not been mentioned; Aru is stunted from Masaaki's headbutt. Although he has not retracted the poisonous branches from Ikki, his attack did subside for a moment before the blades attacked Eris and Mika. Ikki has taken less damage as a result.

⥈ HP: 90% | Scrapes and bruises ⥈ Location: Coast ⥈ Carrying: Nothing ⥈ Talking to: Ikki ⥈ Outfit: White hoodie, black t-shirt, black skirt & sweatbands ⥈ SONG OF THE MOMENT: Mystery Skulls - The Future ⥈ OOC:
The current fight was chaos.
Mika was struggling to keep the Empyrean contained and away from another boy whom she'd seen around though his name escaped her at the moment, one of the UDA agents Spade has a tentacle in his chest which looked dangerous and potentially life-threatening.
Even though she did not trust any of the UDA agents one bit with her wellbeing, she didn't have any desperate desire or wish to see them dead...however she could only do so much at once, Mika glanced her way but otherwise said nothing, that was enough of a silent acknowledgment that she was aware of her that Eris was likely going to get from the strong-willed mage and for now it'd have to be enough; after all 'the enemy of my enemy is my friend' right now despite the personal issues they were on the same side and fighting against the same thing.
The empyrean pulled the shards into itself seemingly cocooning itself from damage before it lashed out with a large bladed tentacle aiming to cut them both in half; Eris wouldn't be able to dodge in time and instead prepared herself for impact raising her arms over he chest and raising a barrier to try and stop it, surprised to feel a familiar arm wrap around her waist and pull her out of the way as Mika helped her to dodge. Eris kept up the barrier as she was moved, fortunately, for them both it was a good move on her part as blades shot out from its stomach towards them at a high speed, her eyes glowed red as she caught them in mid-air and allowed them to drop harmlessly to the floor all kinetic energy and speed spent from them; she didn't want to risk deflecting them in case they hit someone else; it was better to burn the extra mana and stop them in their tracks.
Eris was released and she instinctively curled up to roll as she landed; her attempt was rather clumsy though as she rolled on the sand pretty hard; she was mostly unhurt though she was bound to have bruises and cuts to deal with later. Despite having the wind knocked out of her Eris got back up to her feet. Mika seemed concerned with keeping the Empeyran from taking the boy who was on the scene; a friend of Mika's maybe? He was no mage that was for sure.
Eris was about to help her, especially after she dislocated her shoulder in attempts to protect Massaki from a grenade that seared her back in a painful way doing so into to hear footsteps rushing up behind them and hearing Aru screaming at them to 'stop hurting him'; despite asking Ikki to stay behind he had followed her along with Willow who was clearly deeply traumatized, but the shards were traveling back towards the creature but it seemed that Willow could no longer tell the difference of what made up Nobu and who their enemy was...in a way she felt sorry for him; he had clearly been deeply affected by Nobu's death enough to lash out at his own allies.
"Aru-" She wanted to say something to try to calm him down but she decided against it INSTANTLY the moment Willow used his abilities to attack Ikki who's skin began to tinge green in an unhealthy sickly color, this was halted momentarily as the other boy who she didn't have a name for headbutted Aru by accident breaking his concentration even if it was only for a few seconds "Aru-kun stop!" She tries to reason with him but when he declared he'd kill anyone who'd get in his way she snapped, just like when she had against Mika.
"THAT'S ENOUGH!" Eris yelled her eyes becoming a bright, blood-red as she pushed at Aru's chest taking the other mage by surprise, but rather then simply pushing him over she used her telekinetic energy at one singular point, punching it into Aru's stomach so that he want flying as if he'd been hit by a car; he glided through the air before landing hard on the sand of the beach a good 25 feet away, this caused the vines and branches that the other had been using on Ikki to snap and tear apart from impact though many of them were still lodged into Ikki's skin the poison still in his bloodstream.
She didn't know if Aru was injured or dead or just knocked out but right now she didn't care; so long as he was away from Ikki and what was going on with Mika, it gave them all some breathing room to make their next moves. Feeling lightheaded from that burst of power she forced herself to shake it off to keep standing as she reached for Ikki's arm "Are you...okay?" She asked as she touched his hand gently pulling the vines out of his arms, concerned at where the dark stains in his veins were; this wasn't good he'd need a hospital.
The moment she did something different happened, something new.
She felt mana, flowing from Ikki, into her, filling up her reserves back to full; it was a strange feeling, a little tingly but not at all unpleasant as suddenly she went from light-headed to as if she'd just eaten a fulfilling meal, full of energy and power "What...was that?" She looked to Ikki then to where their hands touched; that was unlike anything she'd experienced before...and yet at the same time this filled in some holes as to why Ikki had been seeing Alpha and was hearing music no one else could hear; he wasn't a mage and yet the other had mana, a massive amount of it from the feel of it; he was like recharge point for mages! However, she hadn't felt this before whenever she'd touched him...perhaps the dangerous situation and her need to protect him had triggered something?
She would have to figure it out later, right now she needed to keep Ikki safe and protect the others here "Okay hold onto my hand and don't let go, we are going to try and slow this thing down, I hope you'll be able to hold out until then" She said softly her eyes starting to turn blood red again as she began to gather her telekinetic power and with a sharp yank, the tentacle that was attached to Spade was forcefully torn off; a part of it was still embedded into the man but the connection was lost at least, with that done she began to form a barrier around the empyrean trapping it in a sphere of telekinetic energy effectively containing it for a time and giving Spade, Masaaki & Mika a moment to breathe; she wouldn't be able to keep it up forever but with Ikki feeding her mana her abilities had spiked immensely in terms of lethality and scale.
Reaching out a hand she began to make the sphere smaller and yet make the barrier thicker so it was harder to break out of and the being had very little space to move around effectively.
Quote: The tentacle connection between the empyrean and Spade has been torn apart, though the end of the tentacle is still embedded in his chest, how he deals with that is up to you. The Empyrean is contained by a thick sphere barrier that it can barely move around in but it very thick making it hard to break out of currently; Eris can only uphold this due to Ikki.
Quote: Ikki is still hurt and poisoned but would have felt the mana exchange and such, how well he holds up with poison in him is up to you.
Quote: No idea what Aru's state is but Eris did hit him with a big chunk of her power to get him from Ikki, if he's not unconscious I imagine he'd be pretty hurt.

There wasn't much Ikki could do against the creeping branches of Willow's veins. To Ikki, they looked more like roots as the tips dug into his skin. "Aru, Aru, Aru, broh!" he repeated the guy's name, hoping it'd snap him out of it, but it was like the dude was under some kind of maddening spell of insanity. Ikki managed to rip out a few green veins at first, but then they kept branching off into his arms and chest. The pain was the worst thing he ever felt in his life! Sweat rolled down his temple as he bit back, teeth grinding and threatening to crack. "That's... that's not Nobu, broh! We're on your side," he tried talking to the guy, but Aru wrapped a branch around Ikki's neck. His knees finally gave out, but it wasn't until a purply flash of red collided with Aru when Ikki knelt into the sand giving him a break from the searing pain. "M... Masaaman," Ikki coughed, red blood mixing with green in his lungs as he gasped for air. Dude, was he hallucinating? Wiping away the contaminated blood from his chin, he tried to focus.
"I'll kill anyone who gets in my way. . . "
"THAT'S ENOUGH!"
More relief from the indescribable burning tainting his blood came without him understanding. Man, Ikki really wanted to tear his skin off, but as Aru went spinning, knocked by an invisible force, he settled for pulling out the branches from his veins. "Gah!" he groaned as his favorite little miss and savior came to his side. "It... stings pretty bad," the battered bombshell admitted as she asked him if he was okay. He was trying to say it lightly, but unable to hide the fact he was in pain. "Guuuuhn, haha," Ikki tried really hard not to cry out as Eris gently pulled more vines out of his arms. In that moment, he trusted her to do him right. He didn't swat her away and try to take care of it himself, he closed his eyes amidst the chaos and squeezed her hand. "Man... rather me than you," he admitted with a charming lopsided grin and wink of his eye.
In the sea of pain he was in, Ikki could feel comfort in her hand. But, what he thought was just comfort was something else to Eri. "Huh?" he asked rather dumbfounded, when she looked to their hands touching. What it weird? Didn't feel weird. Kind of felt right. Kind of felt like never letting go. Wait, weird. Yeah, Ikki had never felt that way before. OH, MAN. Vision blurring a bit, he suddenly felt drained. Was it the green stuff in his veins making him so weak? Aw, geez... Now that he looked at his arms, it kind of made his stomach flip seeing his veins discolored and infected. But, Eri-chan asked him to hold out! Then he started to feel it, his energy drain and flow into her... darker, darker... He didn't realize it, but he suddenly leaned into her as she started to make the sphere smaller around the Empyrean. Hold on. Hold on. Hold on. His grip on her hand started to weaken as he kept giving more of himself to her without even realizing it. "Eri...chan... how much... long...er-" he whispered, hot breath against her skin as his body started to go limp. His own blood flow was spread the poison further into his veins. It was threatening his internal organs now. As much as he wanted to pump up and hammer on, Ikki was burnt out from the injuries. It was a good thing Masaaman had interfered. Ikki be done dead he be if a lethal amount of poison were in his beautiful veins.
Oh, wait. He might be a goner if someone didn't suck the poison out or heal him or SOMETHING. Oh maw lawdy help this poor handsome young dashing man!
