Nami
❝ The wave does not need to die to become water. For she is already water. ❞

Kumoito l Sannin l Genjutsu l Bloodline l Shōton

Quote:
A soft singing can be heard from Nami as she walked down the streets with a destination on her mind. "I pictured a rainbow.. You held it in your hands..." She sang softly, her voice tender and gentle. She stopped singing and switched to humming. Stopped before a window, a smile crept on her face as she can see playful animals playing at the window. Wiggled her slender fingers against the glass, some of the kittens attempted to play, one toppled over as she chuckled gently. Had enough, she entered into the store and walked into the cat food aisle. Grabbed a bag of cat food, she got distracted by a section of brightly colored cat toys. The blue haired female picked out a toy that was pole with a bright feather at the end, she made her way towards the counter. Nami paid the cashier with ryo and thanked her as she exited the door with a bag of cat food and a neatly wrapped toy with brown paper. Her cat was going to love the paper more than the toy itself, Nami assumed.

Cats are so odd.

Technique(s) Used:

Technique(s) Active:

Passive Effects:
• • Crystallization | All Shoton techniques have the innate ability to crystallize chakra upon collision. Techniques that are not a rank higher nor overwhelm the Shoton technique will be instantly crystallized through. For example, a B-Rank Shoton technique colliding with a B-Rank fireball will result in the Shoton technique being destroyed and the fireball being rendered a useless clump of crystal. Once techniques are crystallized they are rendered useless to the caster. Additionally, the Shoton user can shatter a crystalized technique or object at will with no chakra or combat action cost. Finally, if the cost is paid twice for a Shoton technique then it will be able to crystallize overwhelming techniques and techniques up to one rank higher. This does not consume a combat action and can only be performed once per post.
• Born Enchanter | All Shoton users of the genjutsu class automatically obtain the enchanter/enchantress path of a genjutsu class specialist (see genjutsu/genjutsu cross class). If the Shoton user is a genjutsu specialist already then they may be an enchanter/enchantress as well as a second path (illusionist, trickster, and conjurer). Ergo, if you are single genjutsu class then you get the enchanter path from genjutsu specialist and if you are a genjutsu specialist then you get the enchanter path as well as a second path of your choosing.
_✧Those who are a specialist can choose one category of genjutsu to follow as a path. You can follow the path of the illusionist (illusory focus), enchanter/enchantress (enchantment focus), trickster (instance focus), or conjurer (chain focus). Selecting a Path grants [3] additional custom slots and [1] keystone for techniques of that category. Genjutsu that are cast by those of this specialization are more efficient as according to the user's body rank, all Genjutsu are [10] Chakra cheaper to perform with the user's specialized Focus are further reduced by another [5] Chakra per body rank. No cost can be lower than a minimum of [5] Chakra. Once every other post all three of the genjutsu specialist's actions in a post can be used for genjutsu.

Genjutsu Path: Enchantress
• Crystal Ball | The Shoton user's crystals can act as a crystal ball and produce divination visions by applying an E-Rank amount of chakra for no action cost. This allows viewing the crystals to be used as a sight trigger for genjutsu. Genjutsu triggered with this method cost one rank higher to kai but require one tier lower to release through pain at a maximum of S+ chakra and a minimum of tier one pain. In addition, as a clairvoyant, all genjutsu with sight as the primary sense can last for an additional [2] posts with no upkeep cost.
• Crystalline Rampart | Defensive crystal techniques are one rank stronger against spiritual techniques in collisions. Crystal techniques also lose their weakness to sound techniques. Finally, all doton techniques can be classified as shoton techniques for no resource or action cost but only originally crystal defenses gain the one rank increase.

Tsukiko decided it was time to take to the forge, given that she had learned about monster hunting and the prizes it could bring. In order to use them effectively, she was going to need to understudy to the forge and learn the ways of bending steel to her will. She was tasked with helping make basic kunai. Something simple that a trainee could be trusted with. "Sometimes, you just need to roll up your sleeves and get dirty. As much as I'd rather not, at least a trip to the hot springs after will suit us fine.", Tsuki lamented and reasoned with herself as she took the hammer and tongs. With hot steel on the anvil, she pounded it into shape, a little slower than a fully fledged blacksmith. Though, for her slowness, she was at least learning how to put things into place. With one knife crafted, she continued on with the tasks at hand.

Quote:
[E-Rank: Practice by Forging Kunai]

The forge was loud, as she was not the only one working on the project. There were a few other trainees working on similar projects. It seemed that the military drive and the need for weapons was not extinguished. Though, as Tsukiko studied and worked on her kunai making, she learned that some of these were destined for exports to Arashigakure. It did seem like the thing nobles would be concerned about, economy and profits. Though the idea of her work being in somebody else's hands made her focus more on details. With another plink in her bucket of water to cool the knife, she then placed the finished blade with the other.

Quote:
[E-Rank: Practice by Forging Kunai]

Details of how to fold the steel were beaten into Tsukiko's head, almost literally, as the sound of her hammer almost became a constant ringing in her ears over the few days she spent in the forge as an understudy. Tsukiko was certain that most people who pursued this path probably had some form of tinnitus, but more important was the information and skills she picked up while only being allowed to make basic throwing tools. Her kunai crafting was certainly improving, but nowhere near that of a master. It would take time and practice.

Quote:
[E-Rank: Practice by Forging Kunai]

The fourth day of her training in the forge was the same as the first few, but she was expected to work faster, harder, and more accurately. Tsukiko was not unaccustomed to having high expectations placed on her. She had grown up with nothing but her parents and clan members having high hopes for her future, but it wasn't for her sake. No, nobody had cared genuinely that she was happy in her successes, but only that her triumphs would edify them. As she shaped the metal, these feelings bled into it, but not out of resentment. If anything, Tsukiko felt a sense of duty to her family. Though their desires might be selfish, she was determined to make herself look just as well as those who had came before, if not better. So with this fourth knife, she got fancy and carefully engraved her initials into it.

Quote:
[E-Rank: Practice by Forging Kunai]

The final day of her internship at the Forge as a trainee had come, and now the test to see if she could produce a perfect kunai was on. Tsukiko had learned and listened to more experienced blacksmiths. She had mastered heating steel, and not scorching it. Her hammer technique had improved leaps and bounds due to nothing but sheer dedication. If anything the winter soldier was ready to be recognized on the level of other apprentices in the art. So, with hammer in hand, the frosty soldier worked hard. After an hour, the allotted time, her work was examined and deemed exemplary. Enough so, that her paperwork was signed off on, and now all that was left to complete her training was to present it to the ruling nobles and await approval to join the ranks of Kumoito's military.

Having departed Kumoito's palace and newly graduated with a task in hand, Tsukiko could not have been feeling better. It was a chance to prove herself worthy of her skill and power, that she felt was well above her station. For the most part, when it came to the average Genin of her caliber, she was. It was just a simple, cold, hard fact that her superior breeding and genetics made her one of the more promising members of the Lightning Empire's military wing, at least in her own opinion.

Though now was not the time to allow pride and inflated egos to get in the way of progress. She was being sent to clear out some drifters and such out of an abandoned foundry. If there was one thing she really disliked it was the transient and the homeless profiting off of the backs of success, and in turn contributing nothing back to society as a whole. It was a disgusting display of entropy. "Those who refuse to move forward will find themselves erased by their own failure.", she remarked under her breath while the future navy captain stood on the roof of a building across the street from her target location. Her training told her that it was best to scout out an area before moving in on it. Just to see who would be going in and out, and what sort of activity might be going on there.

The site was an old factory, indeed. Something reminiscent of an antiquated metalworks shop that’s grown cold and ashen over the years. The back of the shop where the forges, tools, and bounty of metals were once heated and pressed was open as if the previous workers didn’t have to muddle through the business’s front doors. The property was tidied, actually, for a plot housing a supposed drifter. There were some potted plants by the old entrance that looked like they weren’t placed there by any imperial so’n so.
There was a chain length fence erected around the front of the perimeter that seemed… altered or interrupted probably by the builders asked to block off the public from the unused lot. Otherwise there the antiquated factory had a fine lattice-looking fence with a surplus of greenery lining the top. Not a speck of liter to be seen.

Well, something seemed off to Tsukiko right away, just based on the neatness of the area. She could not put her finger on it, but something from her training told her that looks on the exterior often hid something more dark on the inside. She was a young ensign with everything to prove, and such tactics would have worked on her still had she not had a mission directing her to investigate.

From the rooftop she had been surveilling the place, she ran to the ledge, and kicked off with a puff of steam behind the movement before she landed with cat-like poise on the roof of the building she was sent to infiltrate and clear out. She then jumped down carefully to the ground below. 'Kicking in the door and comitting a shock-and-awe situation would be bad, but it'd be the last thing they'd expect.', she thought to herself as the young ensign did just that by walking up and attempting to open the door and step on in...pending she wasn't prevented by lock or some other form of impediment.

The door twisted but an ounce of resistance scratched the inner-working of the doorknob before letting go. The door was free under Tsukiko’s hand to be pushed open. Only one obstacle in her way that sounded like something suddenly being bashed into the doorway and the KLONK off red apple dropping to the floor. Rolling out of her way. “Ow!” A male’s voice sounded off and a figure was backing away from the door. There was a small keyhole in the doorknob the occupant was using as a peephole. It wasn’t the smartest move but they dropped their snack in the process.
The supposed occupant was a man bowed forward with long, brown locks curtaining his face with a massive crown of twigs, spindly tree trimmings, and dired fistfulls of flowers stuffed in the mix. He was tidy and clothed as if he knew the warrior’s trade. Hair was brushed. He would rise, finally, holding his hand over his left eye. “Aaahh…”
Tsukiko was a blur as he winced and uncovered his eye. “That’s- ugh- that’s gonna’ be shiner. Ugh.” The rim was red and he carefully rubbed the skin around his brow as he tried to take in the figure in front of him.Geeze. Knock next time, okay?”
The room was spacious, to a degree, and not as dark on the inside as it was outside. A couple candles were burning but none were placed in line of the windows. Lumber was neatly stacked on the floor and what looked like someone’s flower shop spoils sat on the table. Manicured flowers on stems.

An arrangement of candles was present and it was truly the husk of somewhere weapons were stored. Bags of potting soil, nutrients, and a loaded toolbox sat on the floor.

ooc: A scene during the times skip. Crafting:

For a girl who didn’t grow up beside a smith and carried fish in from the coast, Unki’s hands seem to take quickly to learning. Since she married, Unki’s time had to be spent creatively. She was allowed to take part in war- and she did all those years ago- but having a strong husband made it easy to explore other projects. Weapon making projects was one. Crafting weapons wasn’t much of a dedicated hobby but she had the interest in simple things and ventured away from a newly erect Kumoimine Keep to ogle the work of craftspeople. [1 - 2 Weapon Master Project]

In this instance, Unki had a small project in mind that required a hunk of good wood, a knife, sandpaper, and a handful of other goodies she learned were useful. You see, the humble club comes in many different shapes, colors, sizes, and sported all sorts of extra bits that could cause some problems when a strike landed. The first of many clubs she sketched out on paper was a simple, wooden club that really needed her knife work and sandpaper. Easy! [2-2 Master in Weapon crafting granted | 1 project completed|]

It was a nice, pretty hunk of wood shaped into something that looked sturdy enough to wack a fish! Maybe something small like a young trashing amberjack? Unki hoisted the club upward. She beamed a smile feeling exceptionally proud of her simple creation! Next club! She chucked the weapon aside and grabbed a new, long chunk of wood. [1 - 2 weapon grandmaster progress]

The club-in-progress was a shapely and Unki happy-go-lucky eagerness to cut cut cut was on fire! Not literally. Fire bad for innocent wood stick. She took care to trim of the warbled knobs she didn’t like. There had to be the right about of weight too and she’d stop, stick her tongue out, and hold the working club. She swung the splintery club around from her seat before picking up the knife again. This club, too, was sanded when it reached completion. [2-2 grandmaster weapon achieved| 1 project completed].

Unki’s second club was set aside too. In fact, it landed with a THONK somewhere behind her. At this rate she was going to become a master woodwiddler when it came to simple weapons. It was a sheer blessing that clubs came as varied as they did. Her interest in shaping a third club was as fiery as the last but this time she added a little more. After sanding, brushing away the dust (and addings to dust piles around her little workbench) she went for a box of clinky-tinkling small, narrow sticks of iron that she tapped into this third club with a hammer [1 project completed].

She had fashioned three wooden clubs: one that was fairly short but plain, a second plain club that was longer than the last, and the third was graced with angry metal sticks around the “head” and tippy top of this bashing rod. Unki knew well that some weapons like this came curved, had fewer or more sticks that one might find necessary. But the job was bludgeoning first before poking vicious holes. The fourth club was wooden, still, shaped into a curve and given an orderly ring around the base of its head and a single spike at the top. [1 project completed]

Spikes don’t have to be all that long anyway. A couple inches to a few centimeters was often well to get the job done but seem to have different outcomes beside bashing on a good bruise. Studs were probably big fat nails with rounded heads, she thought. The fifth club didn’t have studs but it did have a crooked body. Could Unki get away with breaking a limb off a tree and calling it a club? Probably not [1 project completed - Apprentice Craftsman gained.

But what if she just left one of her longer, unprocessed wooden hunks remain as nature intended? A club was a club if it had a big head and a body someone was able to grab, after all. Right? She winced at the thought of the rough bark of a literal tree limb feeling off in the hand. The working little empress collected her more rough, most unrefined limb she’d bought off someone. She studiously studied the wood in her hand and pretended to swing it. It needed leather. Leather strips fasted about its body would give this natural club a good grip. She added just that. Leather [1 project completed].

If basic bark covered clubs with leather grips was as basic as she could get then what point was there in whittling the wood away? She set the limb-club down and examined bits of bark and dust on her apron. No big deal, she shrugged, and sat down with a new block of wood. 3 hours and seven wooden clubs fashioned. At this rate, the cute little expecting empress would be a cute little expert on regular wooden clubs. Bells and whistles? Too much [1 project completed].

Oh yeah, she was totally expecting her baby at this point in time. What better way was there to occupy the boredom of healing and being exhausted from a pregnancy by devoting oneself to making things that smash? Okay. Kint? Cliche. Make paper? Maybe. Sitting up, hacking away with knives on wood and avoiding bed rest was perfect. She totally had all the gear she needed: safety glasses, thick gloves, with chain mail gloves unnecessarily tucked under, a thick apron and close toed shoes! Nobody needed to be smashing their own feet as they wrapped up an eighth club [1 project completed].

She could cook. Heck, Unki was usually ready to whip herself up a crunchy salad for a snack or throw something in a soup pot to boil. But being so flipping tired was no fun and it was easier to ask Momi to bring her whatever was on her mind. Yoga and careful rehabilitation was productive but overdoing it would piss off her healing body. And, of course, exercise of the body wasn’t going to build a ninth club. This time with a heavy head and sizable metal rods were hammered somewhat down the body in neat rows [1 project completed].

Did Unki fight with clubs? No. Clubs left too many openings in the hands of the unskilled, unpracticed, and tactless. She respected the capable club swinger. One day, she knew that she could explore a whole world of metal clubs would be at her fingertips and Unki could call herself a self-proclaimed expert on all bits and bobs that went into making iron and steel clubs what they were. Steel clubs? What a world. Maybe start with measly copper and work up from there. That’s a lot of metal to pour through [1 project completed].

At this point, Unki had ten clubs to her name and all were crafted by her hands and dedication. Four hours. Not too shabby and the clubs weren’t looking bad either. It was only a matter of time before she’d hand them off to Shiro for him to play with, probably, and break. Accidentally. Sitting in a chair for this long had her feeling stiff, however. The eleventh club was a longer hunk of wood. Longer than any rough piece she had dealt with before. It too had a heavy head, good width, and a slight curve. She tried carving in some (uneven) bumps on the head [1 project completed].

Think about it. One of these days, many years from now, she could tell her child all about “that one time that mommy was bored and make a bunch of clubs”. It was a sweet thought and the idea made her wonder if she’d still be carving up clubs out of big tree limbs then. She’d have an energetic youngster running around then so Unki might be busy chasing that and balancing the world on her shoulders. Maybe child-rearing a tiny bright-eyed kiddo into a hard-nosed jingo would be Shiro’s job. Okay. Face it. A hard-nosed jingo for a baby would be like raising a tiny Shiro and Unki so totally wouldn’t want that! Don’t tell Shiro. A twelfth club was sanded finely. It had a large knot on on end that she worked into the head [1 project completed].

Speaking of clubs and babies. Would her baby grow up to fight? The child would ideally be tasked to grow up and learn how to take over the leading job. But a good leader for Lightning should know how to fight and defend it themselves, toe to toe! Fist to an enemy’s face! At the very least, Unki mused to herself the idea of passing this art of crafting clubs to the bright eyed boy or girl who would certainly need a hobby outside of handing “sticky old” politics. Another club- one that reminded her of a wobbly giant fist- was fashioned as the thirteenth weapon [1 project completed].

The next club was not as long as the previous few but it was thick! A big, heavy hunk that she decided would do best in the hands of a giant! It might not go well with humans but what if one of the bigger dogs of the Dog World could carry it? Would the dog do flips with a stick in their mouth? She paused from her sanding to gasp in awe at the thought. What if the puppies would be the ones who made use of these? Watching the dogs do anything with her crafts would be such an honor! [1 project completed].

How would a dog carry a club? The thought puzzled her as she began work on another club. A smaller club that she ended up trying to make a handle on it. She had drawn circles that indicated spots for her fingers to sit. A good place to grip, really. Maybe. If that’s how that worked. Unki isn’t and knew she wasn’t a super amazing weapon forger who knew the best techniques. Do the dogs make weapons or do they turn to humans like Unki to make them dog-friendly tools. The toads have funny five-fingered hands. Maybe they make weapons? These idle thoughts were almost distracting her from bringing her fifteenth club into the best standards her little Unki hands to manage [1 project completed].
