Persistent. Stubborn. Distant
Mika believes in her own strength above all else. Independent to the core. When she fails, she will relentlessly keep at it until she succeeds. Avoids asking for help. She is by no means intentionally malicious or negative, but her curt approach and harsh determination can easily be perceived as cruel. Although, she does say anything she can to provoke someone into doing something she wants- mainly sparring. Perhaps Mika is just a little spiteful... In battle she is a soloist.
Cunning when she can keep her anger at bay, Mika is extremely hardened since she has been trained for deployment against the Gate and Empyrean. Although she fears what could happen to the living, she fears the death of her allies less. Seeing those close to her with their minds perverted and lacking sanity is far more scary than letting her best memories of them lie silently in the grave.
In her relationship with Masaaki, Mika is a little flirtatious and extremely patient. It seems her wild heart has been tamed by his chivalry. Her eyes always turn to him first, noting small details and appreciating them. Haruno finds peace in Masaaki's company. His existence in her life has given her depth and meaning to fighting the Empyreans making her dangerous on the battlefield.

❱❱ PRE-GATE ∴ [Memory Locked] Born as a burden, Mika's first years of existence could barely be called life. An alcoholic father who drank more than he worked and a mother tormented by her own standard of physical perfection mixed for a twisted home life. While her father had a soft spot for his daughter, Mika's mother did not. Abuse began early in life for the adorable child. Mika's mother was jealous of her own child's youth and beauty, even as a toddler. She'd do everything she could to make her daughter unappealing to anyone and when that didn't work, she started locking Mika in the closet. Upon realizing it, her alcoholic father went on a rampage and nearly beat her mother to death. The next day, Mika's mother disappeared. Mika's father didn't drink or gamble any less. They may have lived in a slum, but at least the girl was free of her mother's clutches. Learning to feed herself and clean, it was hard to get her dad to go out and buy groceries. Food was scarce. None of the kids wanted to play with her because she was dirty, so she had no friends to turn to except a puppy. Mika had a stray dog named Momo.
❱❱ SKY ASUNDER ∴ [Memory Locked] The sky was so pretty! Living in southern Tokyo meant Mika was pretty far away from the main threat. However when the sky split open, something changed... Her dog wouldn't let her touch it anymore.
❱❱ MAGE HUNT ∴ [Memory Locked] One day the kids in the neighborhood were making fun of Mika's dirty clothes. They pointed out even her dog didn't want anything to do with her! Tricking the dog and catching it, the kids had it tied up- throwing clumps of dirt at it. Once Mika saw, her mana unleashed. A deadly fireworks display took out half the neighborhood and caused electrical fires. Agent Spade found her with a dead dog in her arms, burnt to a crisp... along with the entire neighborhood within a four-block span smoldering to the ground.
❱❱ ATOMIC PRISON ∴ Mika's earliest coherent memory is an UDA uniform and training sessions. While she has a mental block on her childhood memories, she does remember the day a mage went atomic. The girl was bound and determined to control her powers and be an example to all Mages. She worked as hard as she could training, experimenting and doing as she was told in order to be in control. While she had no friends at the facilities, in her dreams, she did. One she had never seen before and a voice she couldn't remember. Whenever she had a frustrating training session with another Mage or failed an experiment, the ghost would comfort her. She'd wake up feeling a lot better. Due to her determination, Mika was one of the few Mages taken out into the field to dispose of small gate openings where small-time Empyreans broke through. Being out in the heat of a battle was the place she felt most at home.
❱❱ TRANSFER STUDENTS ∴ When Agent Yokyrie explained the next experiment, Mika wasn't very thrilled at first. However, as she told them about a boost in power, the Mage Spark had her interests piqued. Falling in love sounded stupid. Her goal became to make others fall in love with her.
❱❱ CURRENT ∴ Mika started out at Shiri Gakuen as a model student. She joined the Flower Arrangement Club and tested with top grades in her class. Flashing a fake smile to appease her classmates, her popularity rose especially with the boys who admired her athleticism and feminine charm. However, after a mini-gate opening in Shiri Park, Mika's attitude changed. Confronting the other Mages after their downright shitty and dramatic performance against a small-time Empyrean, the group ganged up on her. They outcast her and shook her self-confidence. After that, Mika has kept her distance from other Mages and through chance, met Ginma Masaaki who she seems to be spending a lot of time with lately.
❱❱ MURDER IN SHIRI ∴ Alarmed that a male student from her school had turned up dead, Haruno raced to check up on Masaaki. Embarrassed by her actions to barge in to make sure he was okay, the Ginma family welcomed her in to breakfast. As his parents returned to the bakery, Mika could tell something was wrong. Masaaki confessed he had terrible nightmares. When Agent Spade showed up to collected her, Mika stubbornly wouldn't leave Masaaki side and in return, Masaaki wouldn't let Mika go without him. Together, the trio investigated the shoreline. Masaaki lead the group to the Empyrean, who was cocooned with a shard containing Nobu's memories. A battle ensued, calling Mika to action and leaving Spade wounded. Eris and Ikki arrived on the scene in the same manner as Masaaki had found the Empyrean. Along with them was Willow. With Eris's help, the group was able to beat down the Empyrean and due to Masaaki's bravery they were able to capture the shards and kill the Empyrean. Both Eris and Mika developed new magic, but Willow had nearly killed Ikki and Masaaki had been tripping from the psychedelic effects of Empyrean Ichor. Mika's infatuation with Masaaki grew, but when she was told it wasn't real and he was saying things without knowing it. Mika's heart ached.
❱❱ CAMPING TRIP ∴ Mika grew closer to Eris after realizing her worth on the battlefield.

🞂 Sato Eris ★ ★ ★ ☆ ☆ Relationship Status: Friend
Since the day they met, it has drove Mika insane how timid, passive and quiet Eris is. The scientists chose Mika to push Eris's powers further. There have been many beatings that result in Eris crying herself out of the experiment- even then some of the scientists push Mika to keep tormenting her. Mika knows Eris has an insane amount of power and has experienced it first hand (eventhough Eris didn't mean to attack). Unfortunate for UDA, Mika witnessed one of the animal experiments where Eris was nearly torn to bits by a dog. Their sessions together have changed since then. Mika still pushes Eris, but now its more encouraging (as encouraging as Mika gets) in hopes that she finds some multitude of strength to stand up for herself. Since the incident at the park, Mika has vowed to kill Eris if she dare use her powers on her again.
Mika and Eris spoke after the battle against the Empyrean at the shoreline. Spending more time together at school and talking every once in awhile, Mika has come to like Eris as a person and as a fellow Mage. They've formed a friendly bond, spending more time together like normal girls would. It helps that their boyfriends are also friends.
🞂 Kabuto Ikki ★ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ Relationship Status: Annoying
Mika knew Ikki from class and labeled him an idiot due to his antics for attention. She noticed his glances towards her and has ignored him in order to make it painfully obvious that she is not interested in him. He started hanging around Eris. She knows Eris has a crush on the boy and while she can't stand him, she supports her friend's pursuit to be by his side. Eventually that crush turned into a relationship. While Mika thinks Ikki is a moron, she can't help but notice how attentive and loving Ikki is when Eris is concerned. She hasn't admitted it, but they are a great couple and team.
🞂 Miamoto Keito ★ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ Relationship Status: Sheep
Mika knows he's been avoiding her the day he came to Z03. She's wanted to test her reflexes against him, but the guy dodges her at every approach. She shot needles into his heart after the incident at the park. He approached her on his own accord when they were alone admitting that she was right- he was a coward. Still, she has no respect for him. Telling him off, she told him if he was serious he needs to go to Agent Spade first and train
After the Empyrean encounter at the shoreline, Mika has spent more time with Keito. Together they research and investigate the Empyrean's capabilities, shards and magical growth. She does not mind his company and finds him a good study partner, nothing more.
🞂 Ginma Masaaki ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ Relationship Status: Boyfriend
Mika met Masaaki by chance by stumbling across Sora who has strong feelings of dislike. The soldier of UDA can't explain her feelings towards the frail and light-hearted Ginma, but she can't help but feel captivated and inspired by him. Mika didn't understand her feelings towards him, but her natural instinct to choose Masaaki over the UDA was a starting point.
Things moved fast in Mika's heart as they faced the Empyrean who murdered Nobu Yuki. While Haruno had kept her head on straight and stayed true to her desires to protect Masaaki, the acidity in the Empyrean's blood sent the sugarplum for a trip and whisked Mika away with his charms and gallantry. Now, his mere presence drives her crazy and thoughts of him consume her mind. She's trying to rebuild a wall and keep him at bay, but at the same time keep him close- Mika is frustrated.
At the school camping trip, Mika forced herself to confront Masaaki about her feelings and mend their strained friendship. There Masaaki announced he was joining the internship at UDA for Mika. They decided to spend their last day off together. Masaaki created a simulation which they could use in training and then started teaching Mika how to bake. One thing led to another and Masaaki kissed Mika. In return, she kissed him back and are open with one another concerning their feelings and trust.
🞂 Agent Spade ★ ★ ☆ ☆ ☆ Relationship Status: Mentor
During all her training Mika has kept her feelings caged. Even in her sessions with Agent Spade, all the girl wanted to do was succeed. Training until she collapses, Mika would pull all to stops in order to progress and take on the next lesson. While her memories of her past family are trapped within the safe confines of anxiety-key-and-lock, she places Agent Spade as the closest thing to family she could have. While not quite the father-figure, she has seen him more as an Uncle- which Agent Yokyrie has picked up on. In the latest Gakuen Experiment, Agent Spade has the role of her Uncle.
After the battle at the shoreline, Mika has put distance between her and Spade. Killing Willow and the changes Mika are going through put them out of sorts. The more pressure he puts on Masaaki, the more hatred brews towards the man.
🞂 Agent Valkyrie ★ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ Relationship Status: Dislike
From a very young age, Kyrie has tried to unlock the memories from Mika's childhood that have been blocked out due to stress. And since that young age, Haruno has disliked her round-a-bout way of prying into her personal feelings. However, Mika respects the fact that she is an intelligent scientist where biology is concerned. While Agent Spade is the closest thing to a valued family member Mika has, it is easy to say she gets jealous by the fact Spade is attracted to Valkyrie.
🞂 Kasai ★ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ Relationship Status: Acquaintance
A mage from another facility who Mika has gone on missions with to deter the Empyrean threat. Its been four years since they've crossed paths. His hair is longer, he's gotten taller and his voice is a lot deeper, but Mika would never forget a face that's stood beside her in battle.

Through continuous use and expertise, she can "read," the strength of objects on a physical level. [Locked] Using the vibrations, Mika is able to imitate an earth quake. Given enough power she could take down a skyscraper.

Energy takes form into an item of Mika's creation which lasts 3 posts. Mika lacks finesse in creating items. They are typically bulky and explode after 1 post.

A bolt of electricity darts erratically from Mika's fingertips, seeking its target and possibly electrocuting other items in its path making it extremely difficult to evade. Its stream of shocking energy arcs from one target to the next, dealing dividing damage between all sources standing within 1m of each other. Mika has not been able to make it arc more than 5m or cause deadly damage.

Mika creates an enormous charge of energy surrounding her and a targeted area. Upon connection, whether its a ground slam from above or a running encounter, the shock damage envelopes the target area like a meteor hitting, expelling a singular thunderous wave of painfully paralyzing electrical currents.

Surrounded by an aura of piezoelectric interference, Mika influences the gravity within 1m of her to become heavy or light. Mika has been able to increase the weight of gravity by 75% and decrease by 25%. Expansion of the area or choosing an area where she is not the center has proven difficult.

Mika's form completely changes into an entity of pure energy, chaotic and uncontrollable. In this form Mika absorbs all other forms of energy; mana, electric, heat, ionic, etc. She bleeds radioactive poison to those who come within 5m of her. Mika is able to maintain this form as long as she/vessel can maintain a supply of mana. Spells she casts while in this form are supercharged.

Stand Together Role Play ⍒ ▪▫ In her foul mood, Mika bumps into Soma Seijiro, ruining his day and hers.
⍒ ▪▫ Interrupting her murderous demeanor, Tobias hauls the two back to the dorms to give Mika a beating.
⍒ ▪▫ Tobias reveals his berserker eye during the fight, injuring Mika and himself to prevent turning. Annoyed by Emiko's appearance, Mika goes inside.
⍒ ▪▫ Eris aids Mika inside and stands by to help her treat wounds.
⍒ ▪▫ Mika allows Eris to bandage her up, but Mika is suspicious of a text Eris receives.
⍒ ▪▫ Spits verbal venom at Eris/Emiko and attempts to toy with Soma while she is unable to respond to Queen's presence.
⍒ ▪▫ Missing out on the actions against Queen, Mika is left to the task of heeling Tobias in his Berserker state.

⍒ ▪▫ Laughs at Emiko for trying to stand up to her.
TIMESKIP ▪▫ Attempts to train with Tobias, but the dynamics have changed...

⍒ ▪▫ With Sora forcing Masaaki to choose sides, Mika wins over Masaaki with promise that she can find his lost item.
⍒ ▪▫ Mika didn't help much, but Masaaki ended up finding his Totoro collectible at the daycare center. Mika finds herself enjoying his company.
⍒ ▪▫ Mika opens up to Masaaki and he invites her over to watch the anime movie "My Neighbor Totoro."
⍒ ▪▫ Mika has a great time at the Ginma Residence and exchanges numbers with Masaaki.
Empyrean Chapter 1 ⍒ ▪▫ Upon hearing the news about the "Murder in Shiri," Mika races to Masaaki's home, dodging UDA agents, to make sure he's okay. They embrace and Mika is shocked that her mana flows freely through him without harm.
⍒ ▪▫ Refusing to leave Masaaki's side, Agent Spade brings him with on an investigation and Empyrean hunt.

Haruno wasn't one who enjoyed being teased, but Kasai's quips weren't obnoxious enough to provoke her tongue lashings, even when he called her Sparky. As much as it annoyed her, he didn't cross a line. Irritation evident on her face as he proclaimed the possibility he may have the upper hand, she kept up her stone demeanor. It had been four years since they last crossed paths. Being raised at different facilities meant they had different training regimes and teachers. While Mika was sure she had more field experience, there was no telling how much time he'd spent in training. While he mulled over her proposition for training, she looked him up and down discretely in an attempt to measure his worth physically. Mentally, he picked up what she was laying down. Referring to the dummy as her partner, Kasai nodded in agreement. She liked his decisiveness when it came down to it. He was the offense and she on defense.
Standing a few feet in front of the target, they faced one another. The glisten of Kasai's blue hued eyes contrasted heavily against his ember orange hair, playing well into his cheeky attitude while the flat complexion of Mika's ivory skin against her sheen noir crown projected more of her calm and collected poise.

[Age 10]
Small combat boots clicked together in the dark, looking around a military transport bus filled with soldiers and children. Many of the children are nervous, but not Mika. A commanding officer walks up and down the aisle repeating their mission to retake a downed pylon for the Empyrean barrier. Sitting next to Mika is a young Agent Spade and another agent Mika seemed familiar with; Agent Sparrow. Sparrow is uneasy, but Spade is calm. The commanding officer announces a high risk of Empyrean encounter. Mika knows,"Most of them will die, but as long as I do as Spade-sensei says, I won't." Sparrow starts talking, "Ah, Spark. Its your time to shine. All that hard training is going to pay off. Keep us safe out there." He flashed a smile, like he always did. It usually cheered her up and got her excited to train, but Mika could tell he was scared. She nods, but looks up to Spade feeling a little uneasy because Sparrow is nervous. His eyes look down at her, but his expression remains as stone cold as ever. Until, he lets out a little wink Mika's way making her as calm as a kitten with just that small playful gesture.

The animated group on the bus was nothing but corpses now. Twisted and mangled, gutted and severed. Chest heaving for air, Mika was tired. Blood, dirt and sweat caked her skin. Her magic crackled against the cold wintery air as she had her hand on the pylon's battery to jumpstart it. Spade was beside her, gun ready to fire. Sparrow was in front of them, firing into the dark. A wounded Empyrean stalked from the safety of the dead bodies, being kept at bay by the gunfire. It moved like a wraith, only its piercing eyes distinguishable from the night. They had been fighting it for five hours. The pylon whirred as its systems started rebooting. Sparrow ceased fire. "That's it. Mika keep your eyes on the Empyrean. Sparrow fall back!" Spade called out. But something was wrong. A crackling noise- like radio static- filled everyone's ears as Sparrow started to turn towards them. The Empyrean didn't move, it remained where it was but its presence was all around them. Mika winced, feeling sick... as if she were breathing poison. It didn't seem to affect Spade at all. "Fall back!" He shouted again, but Sparrow had gone lethargic. "EEEEEmpYre-an." It was Sparrow's voice, but it was distorted with the static. He turned towards them, eyes rolled back into his skull and body convulsed until his gun pointed at them. His eyes returned, but shook with fear. "Monster... Monster! MONSTER! Stand clear!" Spade rose his gun in response, the two facing off as Mika did as Spade ordered and kept her eyes on the Empyrean.
"Lower your weapon, soldier!" Spade realized who Sparrow was aiming at.
"Get away from that demon, Ace!"
"The demon is at your six!" his safety was off.
"Her existence defiles us all!"
"Mage Spark is our ally. The Empyrean enemy is at your back!" Spade had seen this behavior before.
"Empyrean is not the enemy! Mages are scorn upon the earth."
"Lower your weapon or I will open fire!" the final warning was given, but Spade knew the exchange of words was merely a countdown.
"The gate awaits you! The gAte a-a-aWaits yooooU!"
The Empyrean lurched forward as the two guns opened fire. Bullets pummeled Sparrow's body, spraying the cold air with burning crimson. Mika's wires shot out from behind Spade, wrapping around the wrists of the Empyrean as it vaulted over Sparrow's falling body. Electricity danced down the conductors, frying the creature's limbs through to a burnt crisp. Spade unloaded the rest of his bullets into the demon. The pylon generated its barrier as the claws of the creature were severed with a small tug from the little Mage. The Empyrean couldn't retreat towards the gate, but darted into the night, leaving Spade and Mika to live. The little girl wasn't sure what to do as she looked on in horror at the dissipating limbs and Sparrow choking on his own blood. Her vision was blocked as Spade embraced her. Mika tried to push him away, knowing her mana stung anyone who touched her, but Spade wouldn't let her go. Taking out his pistol, a single shot was fired into Sparrow's head. The choking sounds stopped. Mika started sobbing quietly.
"Weak nerves on the battlefield attract the Grim Reaper," he told the little girl, getting down on one knee to speak to her directly. He tried not to dote on her, but he couldn't help it. Spade wiped the tears off her face, smearing them with the blood, dirt and sweat. "You're strong. You obeyed orders. We're both alive because of it. Now stay alert, the Empyrean is. . . " Spade's words drifted as Mika's vision blackened. With her mana drained and the trauma of Sparrow turning on her taking its mental toll, the little ten year could no longer stay conscious. |
