❱❱ PRE-GATE ∴ Kind and empathetic, young Damien was a fairly average child. His father was a personal accountant from America and his mother worked for the Hokkaido police department. He was taught the importance of the law, how to respect authority, but most importantly to never let a good person struggle alone.
❱❱ SKY ASUNDER ∴ When the sky was torn Ms. Blackwell was the first to respond to the creatures that poured into the city. While the authorities were dealing with the immediate threat, the citizens of Hokkaido were being rushed into safe zones. There were only a few buildings that didn't constantly get overrun. Whatever the creatures were, they seemed to be chasing something...or someone. Damien and his father ended up running as far as they could before they were separated just beyond the city line. Damien was picked up by authorities from another prefecture and placed into protective services. He never saw his parents again.
❱❱ MAGE HUNT ∴ Little memory remains of the Hokkaido event. As far as Damien knows his parents were killed, but nobody could tell him by who...or what. There were kids from the shelter who were taken by special agents, but Damien or the others were never told the reason.
❱❱ ATOMIC PRISON ∴ Mages were targeted. Children like Damien were questioned. Growing up in the shelters meant survival of the fittest, and there seemed to be a natural hierarchy among the children which Damien took advantage of. With all of the initial chaos, a few of the shelters became taken by the children themselves, and an odd street gang of sorts formed. Orphaned mages that were dangerous were ratted out, and the ones that were useful were protected. It didn't last for more than a year, but by then Damien had already come to rely on this new system of living.
❱❱ TRANSFER STUDENTS ∴ Damien was arrested one day as an accomplice to auto theft. Unfortunately for him the kids he ran with were not completely loyal to him just yet and refused to take the fall on his behalf. At his hearing, the judge made a deal in order to hopefully protect the rest of his childhood: Go to confinement or enroll in the Shiri Academy that was being built for the next school year. Damien made the obvious choice for education with the promise of a better life.
❱❱ CURRENT ∴ School life isn't too much different than the shelters. At least how they were at the beginning. Damien was able to adjust rather well, though his demeanor remained unscathed. Part of his adjustment was to make friends rather than acquire subordinates. At least...his fellow students don't really know the difference it seems.
