░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░Ability Information ░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░

Species: Chosen Human

Abilities:
> He can talk to anything in the corvid family. This includes giving them tasks they are capable of and getting reports back from them.
> He has a familiar, a raven named Krotak (raven named himself,) still an ordinary raven, but they understand each other better and can share senses when both are willing. Krotak is kind of a jerk though...
> Able to shift into a vaguely raven-like form (honestly could be a raven or a crow, hard to tell.)
>Eidetic memory: he can remember everything he has ever encountered, though older/less important memories take longer to resurface.
> Increased Lifespan: due to his mysterious lineage, he has a greater lifespan than most people. He will reach old age around 100, but still should easily make it to 150, maybe even 200, provided nothing else intervenes.
> Iron Stomach: let's face it, corvids can eat some nasty stuff. He has a similar constitution and can safely dine on things that would make others sick. However, if it has decomposed too much, or is covered in mold, he will still get sick.

░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░ Psychological/Physical Information ░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░

Personality: In SoleilSap City, he generally presents as a quiet yet laid-back and gentle soul, but this is only because he has found most of the people to be very nice, and he wants to get as much out of them as he can. If there's nothing he can get out of you, then he's aloof and asocial with a touch of snark. Beware anyone who pisses him off: he's as vindictive and spiteful as the best of them, and he will hold on to a grudge until he finally gets an opportune moment to strike. Above the "Suckers" category is something he would call "Positive Acquaintance." Some people might find it is basically a friend category, but he is not so liberal with the term. With positive acquaintances, he can be genuinely nice and helpful, and he will get you out of a jam if he finds you in one, but make no mistake, you are still being used in some way. There's a very minute friend category above that, which is about the same as the positive acquaintance category, except he probably isn't robbing from you or using you for your connections...often. Finally you get to family and lover level. At this level, he is fiercely loyal and protective, and you finally get to see his genius. He still tends to build walls around his feelings, always trying to be strong for everyone, so he can never show weakness or fear or anything of the sort. He can be very generous and doting, so that the people who have reached this level know that they are loved. In the lover branch, one does see a darker side as well: a possessive and jealous side. He's so used to never having anything or anyone to call his own, that once he latches on to someone, he won't let them go. He starts getting nervous if they've been gone for a while, and he sometimes snaps if someone pays them a bit too much attention. He still trusts his partner, but he doesn't trust people around his partner.

Bio: Sora was what you might call a Jupiter's child: his mother was only sixteen when he was born, and she has no clue who the father was. She had been at a party and there was lots of alcohol, and well most of the night is a total blank. However, he didn't really look like he could be related to any of the people she hung out with, so she didn't even have an inkling as to who his father might be. Though it wasn't Sora's fault, his mom was always mad at him for existing and ruining her life and reputation. But not everyone hated him: even as an infant, members of the corvid family seemed drawn to him. They would put up with things that not even a pet bird would tolerate, such as him pulling on their feathers and occasionally being too aggressive when he gave them hugs and kisses. No matter what he did or where he went, the birds would always come. When he was two years old, he and his mother left their small town home and moved halfway across the country to a huge and fairly traditionalist city. His mom took whatever jobs she could find in order to support them, and he was shunted off to neighbors to play or do whatever. One day when he was playing on the roof under the "careful supervision of his babysitter" (the neighbor who was supposed to be watching him fell asleep in his apartment) Sora got a little too close to the edge. In an instant he had toppled over and was heading straight for the concrete below. Panicking, he started imagining himself flying and somehow it worked. More specifically, he rapidly transformed into a bird and was able to glide his way to the ground. He spent the rest of the day talking to his bird friends (as he was sort of one of them, he could understand them now) and they taught him how to fly. He desperately wanted to tell someone and show them this cool new ability, but who could he tell? His mother hated how "unique" he was, he hadn't started school yet so he didn't have any friends there, and he was always under someone's supervision so he hadn't gotten a chance to make friends with anyone in his neighborhood. The only people he could talk to were the birds.

When he was six years old, he found out his mother was getting married to a man named Bob Geldoff. Bob was a well-off businessman with very old-fashioned opinions on most everything, so naturally he did not get along with Sora in the least. Not even a year later, their first child was born. That's right, "first." Sora didn't count. It was a girl they named Mary. Even though he didn't count, he was still a huge help in taking care of his little sister. He couldn't have been more excited to have someone sympathetic in the house, well, eventually she would be, probably. Things actually went well for quite some time. He worked hard to be the best son that he possibly could: helped around the house, was fairly quiet and normal, and made good grades. He found that while his mother wasn't very affectionate towards him, she did always take care of him, suggesting that maybe she did actually kind of like him as a person, she just didn't like what he represented to her. While it wasn't the most comforting revelation, it did make help soothe some tensions: he was still loved her even if she couldn't entirely accept him.

By the time he was fourteen, he started getting suspicious though: Bob sure did make a lot of money for a used car salesman, and sometimes he would see Bob going into fancy stores and buy stuff, but the stuff never made it back home. His mom was too busy taking care of the kids to notice anything off. Since Mary that had had Bob Jr., Ruth, and Delilah. He checked public records and found that the car lot was just barely scraping by. So then where was the money coming from? What happened to the things he bought? He started skipping class every now and then in order to spy on his stepfather. Most of the time it ended up fruitless as he was limited in when he could spy, but one day almost a year later he hit mega pay dirt. He saw one of the sales associates drive a car into the garage, then immediately put a "Sold" sticker on it. A moment later another associate came out and started loading it down with big brown paper-wrapped objects. One of the objects fell, some of the paper catching on a sharp corner, and he could see what looked like a big white block. He had been in enough health classes to know it had to be drugs. He was steadily backing away when he tripped over a bucket and made a huge commotion. The two sales associates dashed out and after a short chase had caught him, and drug him back to the bosses. His stepfather was there, but so was his boss. The boss decided a warning had to be given to the interloper for spying on things he really shouldn't have seen. Without a moment's hesitation, his stepfather pulled out a knife and slashed it across Sora's eye, to the bemusement of his boss. Sora screamed in pain but the men just laughed. In order to avoid further scandal, Sora was to be dropped off at the free clinic and tell them that he had been messing around with a knife and accidentally done it to himself. And if he didn't say that, well, there was a good chance that his mother might take a trip down the stairs, and with how far along she was in her pregnancy, that could prove fatal to her, and definitely to the baby. Sora did exactly as he was told, but now there was going to be more than curiosity behind his actions: now he was out for blood.

He couldn't go to the police, they would just arrest Bob for a short period and who knew if they would catch him in time before he did anything to hurt Sora's family. During the month he took off from school, he roamed the town looking for a way to get back at Bob. But it wasn't until he was back in school and started talking to some of the problem kids that he finally got a lead. Some older men (who sounded like the sales associates) had been selling some of the drugs on the side, but only the cheap bad s**t. A few of the kids who bought it ended up dying. One of those kids was the little sister of a local gang leader. The leader, only known as Fury, didn't have too much intel yet, but she had vowed revenge. She was known to be a femme fatale but also extreme: if you helped her, she was an angel, if you screwed her up, she would rain bloody hell upon you. He got in contact with her immediately.

He kept things looking as normal as possible, except now he was almost never home during the day. He would come home late at night and give vague responses of where he had been. He wasn't getting in trouble and his grades weren't affected, so his mom didn't ride him too hard. Every day, as soon as class ended, he worked for the gang, gathering intel and working small jobs. He got paid a little, but his real reward had been a promise from Fury that no one would mess with Bob. Fury thought it fit that everyone have codenames and that no one know anyone's real name lest someone fell into a position where they might be forced to confess. Sora chose the name Ryuu, which was Japanese for dragon. It took Ryuu about four months to uncover that Bob was not his stepfather's real name, rather he was James Steele and was married to someone else long before he married Ryuu's mother. Now only James's death would satisfy him.

Fast forward until a little after Ryuu's eighteenth birthday. By this point, the kid count was six: Mary, Bob Jr., Ruth, Delilah, the twins Lydia and Lilly; and there was another on the way. James's crew has pretty much been eliminated, and he is one of the few still left unharmed. Sora was facing a short jail sentence for getting in a fight with someone and causing a disturbance. He didn't have the money to pay the fines, so he was paying it off with time. In truth, the fight had been staged. He needed an alibi, and jail was the best he could get. He knew what night James and his real wife would be out on a date, and he knew where they would be. Once it was lights out at the jail, he arranged his pillow under the blanket to make it look like he was there, then transformed into a bird and flew the coop. As he flew to the meeting spot, he began calling all of the corvids for miles. By the time he got there, there were hundreds of birds following him, and they all were bent on avenging the betrayal of their flockmate. He had the birds wait for a moment in the trees as he approached James's car. The couple had elected to go to a sort of lover's lane secluded place that had been a hotspot for a few generations. It was fairly private as everyone knew if you investigated, you would probably just see sex. Sora picked up a large branch, then with a mighty swing smashed the windshield of James's car. Both James and the woman jumped out, and as soon as they did, the birds descended en masse. Sora transformed as well, but all he did was wait for the other birds to distract James, then oh so carefully he landed a perfect peck right into the man's eye, popping it like a bubble. Once the two humans were thoroughly dead and nearly picked clean, Sora dismissed the birds, placed James in the car, then pushed the car off of the cliff. The woman was left out in the open. One bird had stayed behind to help, but Sora thought nothing of it. He just barely managed to make it back to his cell before dawn. When the guards told him his stepfather had died, he just shrugged and said it served him right. The same bird continued to stick around, and just for shits and giggles, one day while Sora was talking to it, he repeated the chant from a ritual he had read about in a book. The ritual was supposed to summon forth a familiar, but he was only doing the chant. Still, as soon as he was done, the bird hopped on to his shoulder and introduced himself as Krotak, then stated how annoyed he was that he would have to serve such a stupid featherless meat bag.

Afterwards there was a decided rift between he and his mother. She knew that he had always hated his stepfather, but she did not know who the man truly was and could not comprehend how he could not care at all. He wanted to stay and help out his family, for his siblings liked him even if they too were appalled by how little he cared for the man. To ease tensions, he left, but promised to send Mary whatever money he could scrounge up for them, as their father's life insurance wasn't paying very much. A few months later he got a phone call from Mary saying that their mom had finally given birth, and the kid was a boy named Justin. That had to be a good sign, right? Still, until he heard from his mom that he was welcome back, he would continue wandering.

He has been on the road now for a little over a year, but his luck is turning sour. He keeps ambling in to towns that are too small to welcome a stranger, or cities so large that people are easily lost. Maybe Soleil will welcome him. Maybe not.
