Hey everybody! As the years have gone by, we've learned time and again that the way we currently hand out ranked characters does not work. More or less across the board. Due to our need to repeatedly retrieve and then give out again the ranked positions, we've decided for the time being that all Wingleaders, Wingseconds, Candidatemasters, Candidatemaster Seconds, Weyrlingmasters, and Weyrlingmaster Seconds will now be filled with shop NPCs.

This is not a permanent solution. We do have plans to implement a system that will be far more workable when it comes to having active ranked characters. Uta is working on a system to reward our (minimally) active players, with one of the benefits being the ability to earn a ranked character. At this time we're discussing strategies to improve the viability of ranked character, but nothing has been set in stone in that regard. This isn't a decision we came to lightly, but we felt we needed a new way to hand out these characters with clear goal posts.

That being said, we will keep all assistant ranked characters in place, and these ranks will continue to be available to our players. Again, we do not intend this to be a long term situation. However, we do need time to build a better shell for our players to play in.

You may come up with your own IC reasons for your character's removal from their ranked position, should they have one. Essentially, it will boil down to either being asked to step down by the Weyrleadership/Council, or choosing to step down for personal reasons or injury. This change is effective immediately, hopefully paving the way for a better and more interactive system for everyone in the future.

As we've done in the past, we will still have the opportunity to roll NPC WL/W2 rolls during our PC Threadfall games. This will continue until we have permanent assignments for those slots. We'll probably also keep that open for the Wings which we've had as NPC Wings as well, past that point. However, it will not be mandatory for you guys to do those rolls in any case. No pressure!

Since Uta and I currently fill some "PC" ranked positions, those characters will be treated as NPCs. They may be replaced in the future with active PC players, depending on how this all shakes out. Relevant to High Reaches Weyr, Z'von of Bronze Dhremorath will be taking over for V'mel. Please understand that we enjoy the characters that you all bring to the table and would like to see them earn back their positions in the future.
