It was another ordinary day of ordinary significance here in the Great Tree's nursery for young acorns, tots, and children. Luckily for one tan-hued fauness currently stretching out her lower back, it was the best time of the day. Yes, the fabled time of relaxation for daycare workers throughout the lands - nap time. With all the youngins down and their little eyes closed, Anise here could finally have a moment to breath and unwind.
It wasn't that her chosen career was stressful per say... but she felt like they were a bit understaffed some days. It was hard to tell if more children were being born, more were hatching naturally, or if she was just getting a bit older. She loved kids but damn could they be a handful, especially in large numbers.
With a sigh and a soft smile, Anise made herself a cup of hot lemon tea - a favorite treat of hers for these cooler days - with a small plate of cookies straight from Breeheart, pulled up a chair and a book from the archives, and set about her reading break.

Job searching was absolutely exhausting and Najima, having traipsed over and through what felt like the entirety of the Tree, was flagging. All she really had to show for the effort was a list of professions she was unsuited for in one way or another. She lacked the upper body strength and stamina to haul water from the Fountains. She had to really squint and focus to see long distances, so the Watch didn't fit. Clothier, library assistant, wait staff, etcetera, etcetera.
Feeling thoroughly downtrodden, Najima looked up and discovered that she had come to a shuffling stop outside the Nursery. Which, honestly, was far and away quieter than she would have expected. Peering in, she noted the sleeping youngsters and their caregiver taking advantage of the quiet time to enjoy some tea and reading. Well, since she was already here... Najima stepped inside and coughed gently to get the paler fauness' attention without disrupting the little ones' nap.

Now that she heard the other fauness' name, Najima actually remembered Anise but didn't expect the recognition to be mutual. Najima was a season or two behind Anise in Nursery and had mostly kept to herself, self-conscious of her shiny golden hooves for no reason more logical than she was sure everyfaun was staring.
"Sorry to bother you," she began, speaking quietly but not quite whispering. "I'm actually looking for work, but everything so far hasn't branched out." Looking around at all the innocently sleeping young faun, Najima allowed herself a soft chuckle. "It's quiet right now, but I'm probably not cut out for Nursery duty, either. I'd like to just sit a while, if that's okay.."
She had only just finished speaking when the first stirrings began amongst the saplings. In hardly any time at all, after a hurried introduction as a child-minder candidate, Najima found herself run slightly ragged breaking up arguments, cleaning up toys, reading to the kids, and generally keeping them occupied. Finally, it was time to troop to the dining room for the evening meal, after which the children were passed off to their parents or the Matron to wind down for the night. Well and truly exhausted (as well as absolutely correct this job wasn't the one for her, either), Najima escaped during the tumult and made her way back to her alcove wondering what other options were even left.
Daisicle Sorry to be so abrupt, but it'd never get done otherwise ¯_(ツ)_/¯
