Akahana was born on October 31st to Takeshi Kinuko and Leiko Sakae. Takeshi was a hunter Nin from Konoha, who met the daughter of the infamous “Granny Boom-Boom” from Sunagakure on a mission. The two fell in love and ended up having Akahana, but their love was not enough to keep them together, they were too different and simply could not live together; especially since Leiko was very vicious in her behavior towards anything Konohagakure related, and towards Akahana after seeing the mouths on her hands and chest, revealing that the baby had inherited her father’s bloodline. Akahana was only two years old when her parents got divorced and her father decided to take her to Konohagakure. At the young age of three years old, she walked through the gates of Konohagakure for the first time. Takeshi was quick to reclaim his old home; he had given the executive control of the home to his best friend Asuka Uzumaki. It was here that she met her best friend Iyuko, whom Akahana thinks of as a sister more than a friend.
Akahana and Iyuko both enrolled into the ninja academy at the same time, and it was the academy where she met Derych Kain. At first, Akahana was not sure about the older boy, but she soon warmed up to Derych. One day, when Iyuko had to stay home due to a severe cold, a bully of the class cornered Akahana; she was a tiny girl with mouths on her hands so she was a favorite target of the class bully. Akahana had been in trouble more than once for retaliating against the bully previously, so she was doing her best not to lose her temper against the bully. It was then that Derych stepped in, defending Akahana and demoralizing the bully all at the same time with one line, “Why are you picking a fight with someone that much smaller then you. Are you that insecure?” This caused the bully to turn and throw a punch at Derych, which led to his hand breaking against Derych’s chest, and Akahana laughing. Naturally, they got in trouble for this, but Akahana didn’t mind, she’d made a new friend in the tall foreigner.
Akahana, Derych and Iyuko all got along well in the academy, and learn they they all complemented each other well, with Akahana being incredibly offensive in her developing style, Derych being well suited to being on the frontlines and able to defend the smaller girls; and Iyuko pulling them together. After learning this fact, the three tended to work together any time there was a group project, prompting their teachers to assign them together when they also noticed the three complimenting each other in their classes. Now they had graduated, and Akahana was looking forward to seeing how she, and her friends, would grow.
