Sometimes guard duty was exciting and patrolling the boarders felt important and like he'd been born to do it.... and other times guard duty felt like it stretched endlessly through the day... moving slower than the sun as the globe of light crawled across the sky in such a provoking manner. Whether it was feeling slower than a sand tortoise or flying by faster than a starving cheetah, Chan had to admit to himself that he was still proud of his role in the pride. After all, he'd come a very long way from the shy, nervous, idiot he'd been in his youth. He chuckled as he turned to head back to his post, figuring someone would be their to relieve him of his duties soon. His thoughts briefly cycled through a few of his fonder memories of the pink hued beauty.... meandered through the four beautiful cubs she'd dumped onto him. He hoped his children were doing well... that was all he could hope for, really.

His tail gave a little flick, his head bowing politely to the lion who was meeting him. "At least soon the air will cool and the sun will have gone." He smiled easily, shaking out his mane. "Safe guarding, friend." He moved on, glad he was finally off duty.

But the question now became... what next? Perhaps he should visit his sister for a while, even though she was more prickly than a cactus most of the time. "Hmmm... no reason to spoil a pleasant day." He mumbled to himself and chuckled again.
