I feel like a school girl with a crush every time he calls. We have so much history, and I treasure the time we spent. He lied and he hurt me, yes. But I did the same to him. I consider it even at this point. Part of me still loves him, and I don't see that dropping anytime soon. He is a fond memory and a dear friend.
Update 06/23/23: I am glad he's found his place somewhere he can be happy. That he's comfortable with still keeping me in his life, and even bringing me into the little family of redheads he seems to be building. I love the man, but I can say now that it is more platonic and with good intention.

Sometimes things can get awkward and tense between us. We've lost so much time. But I am happy to have him in my life again where I can see him grow into his own person.
Update 06/23/2023: I feel bad for the kid all the time. I can tell that sometimes he looks at me with guilt because he felt he was dealt the better hand of our situation for the longest time. I keep having to remind him that I was the one who chose to shield him and make deals with Thaddeus to keep him from being the next lab rat. I am glad he's able to bond with someone and maybe build a relationship that will be healthy for him. He seems really happy lately. I hope I don't rob him of that.
Karine was a kind and strong woman that I adored with everything I am. She was teaching me how to love myself, even when others couldn't. I feel like I have disappointed her a lot over the decades. I wish I could tell her I am sorry I failed her.
Update 06/23/2023: I am still kicking strong old girl. I hope you aren't worrying wherever you are. I haven't done anything to right my wrongs, I know. But I am trying to do better for Herc. I hope that counts for something.
She was a strong a beautiful person. She saw her brother for what he was and did her best to distance her life from his. I never got to thank her for taking me in, or apologize for unknowingly leading him right to her.
Update 06/23/2023: Every time I look at Herc, he reminds me of you. All bright playfulness and spunk. I miss you a lot when I spend time with him. I still wish that we both looked more like you and not the demon brother you had, but there's not much I can do about my genetics. 10: Would you rather have a boring conversation or eat your least favorite food? xxxAnswer: least favorite food. Sometimes it is easier to stomach crap than the crap that can come out of a person's mouth when they are bored.
11: Would you rather have an introverted significant other, or an outgoing one? xxxAnswer: maybe someone outgoing and fun. If they lock themselves away, I would just want to have sex all the time.

20: What is your biggest fear? xxxAnswer: My brother dying before he can experience life. I thought I took his youth away from him once by accident when I crashed that car, I don't want to experience that guilt again.
21: Would you consider yourself as someone who is mentally and physically healthy? if not, how would you improve? xxxAnswer: health wise, I guess I could be considered fine if you ignore the lack of eating sometimes, excessive exercise, and lack of sleep most days. 1: Who loses it first in a fight? Who starts yelling first? A: "It was always me. Vlad was usually eerily calm even though I could tell by his cold gaze that he was livid inside. He's just never believed in yelling to settle issues."
2: Who puts their head down and just takes it, because they know the other just needs to get it out? A: "At first? Neither of us did. We butt heads until we eventually dropped it because neither of us would see the other side. We clashed a lot. Towards the end, it was Vlad who stayed resolute because he knew that it was just my PTSD talking."
3: Who slams doors and yells and stomps away? A: "I am the one that slams doors. If I am really mad, electronics will combust around me. I try to avoid getting that angry or excited. I definitely sass on my way out."

A: "This was very much Vlad when he was too tired to deal with our pointless arguments. He would just tell me to come find him when I have calmed down enough to talk."
5: Who sleeps on the couch? A: "Sometimes Vlad would try, but after the fights my depression would kick and I would get needy and just climb into the couch with him to cry."

I would get depressed and clingy afterwards because I didn't want to end the night like we used to, where things were left hanging and got volatile. Sometimes I mean what I say when I spit it out, but I usually hate myself for saying it the way I did instead of in a way that would help us grow."

A: "I was the sobber, Vlad was the one always whispering sweet words to console me. He used to be a very cold and brutal man with only sharp edges, but it really showed how much he has softened over the years. He was always gentle and kind and wouldn't let go until I was smiling again even though he was the one that got hurt more in the fight."
