The Trading Post port authorities have been hearing reports of rough waters south of the island, causing a slow-down on shipments, and making travel dangerous. They would also like to announce the addition of a new Trading Post on the North side of Telrunya. This promises to ease the delays that have become common. This also allows for opportunities for new products.

The first shipment of chickens and pygmy goats has arrived in the Northern Trading Post. There aren't many, so they are first come, first serve. Also available are a variety of new seeds and saplings.
      New Products:
    • Maple tree saplings - they require colder temperatures to thrive, so it is recommended to plan these in the North West ASAP.
    • Valner tree sapling - glowing leaves provide light, and have magical properties yet to be explored.
    • Firemoss spores - the spores are used to make sedative potions, and cause a hallucinogenic effect on their own (the crew was reluctant to give these up.)
    • Molery seeds - magical herb that tastes like chocolate when brewed. The magical properties are unknown
    • Althese clippings (submerged in water) - aquatic herb with known aphrodisiac properties. When combined with other herbs, creates new effects.
    • Tobacco seeds
    • New Summer flower seeds: Middlemist Red, Angelonia. Fuchsia, Clematis, and Wheat Celosia
    • Two crates each of: Iron ore and Copper ore
    • Copper pots, cast iron cookware
    • Silk samples along with silk worms

    There are packages labeled for
      Mojo C/O Laisidhiel,
      Lucius C/O Sparks Hollow,
      Takeko C/O Kekomura,
      Briosca C/O Breeheart
      Trager C/O Sunrise Terrace.

Mythuzel eyed the flags in the distance. He had been lodged at the harbor for days, relying on an missive from a friend that another ship was coming. And he hadnt wanted to miss this one. He packed his bag with his trade goods from his village, coins made of various metals, some of it's finest figs, and a few weapons that he had Eirlys and Te'ka make. The weapons were sheathed in llama skin leather, something he had looked after himself, so that their cold sharp blade wouldn't disturb the items around them.

Sending Pelagious to that ranch in which "the devil's slave driver" lived had been a good investment. Not only did they get meat and milk, they also got leather and wool from the llama's and alpacas they had bought from her.

He also had a large bag of dried dates with him. His best harvest from the year.

The coins had been stamped with a moutain as well, each one shiney and distinct in coloring due to the metals they were made from. He ought to have Pelagious to find someone who could work with gems. He may be a little over the top, but somehow that crazy boy managed to find him who he needed when he needed him.

Down on the dock, the ship had just appeared as he crossed into the throng of people. This was what he was waiting for. Flagging down a nearby person, he asked his way around until he came to a person who was willing to barter with him.

15 mins later, and his bag of goods had been traded for a bag of moss spores and a tree sapling that had glowing leaves. The moss spores had been hardest sell, costing him all his coins and his knives. The tree had cost him the figs. But it was worth it.

He moseyed on back towards his room to to pack and head home. No sense in dawdling. He had plans.

When Danielle had heard that there were goats at the Trading Post, she jumped on the opportunity. This was exactly what she needed to start making soap! When she heard that the goats were at the new Northern trading post, however, that certainly took the wind out of her sails considerably. She could fly most of the way there, saving herself a lot of time, but with the goats she'd have to walk back, and it was a looooooong way from Kurt's Ranch.

Not one to be daunted, however, Danielle made her preparations and set out. She had in her pack three alpaca-hair rugs, which she'd acquired by laboring for the one who made them, along with the necessary provisions for a journey of this length. Flying was slower going than she'd expected, because of the weight and bulk of her pack, but eventually she arrived at the trading post.

"I'd like three pygmy goats, please," she told the attendant. "One male and two females." She pulled the rugs out of her pack. "I've these for trade."

As the attendant wrangled the goats into leads, Danielle perused the other offerings. The clematis seeds caught her eye, but she had nothing to trade for them. She'd been singularly focused on the goats, but the idea of a peppery clematis soap piqued her interest. She made a mental note to drop by Kekomura in the near future.

"Cheers," she thanked the attendant, then set out for home with her new prizes. The work was only beginning, but that was the exciting part.

The life of a bartender was a difficult one indeed... even more so when that wasn't even your main job.

Word had reached the ears of Zamarad's Mistress recently of some items she'd like readily circulating in the market, and Zemenu had been asked to come and pick them up. Her targets were the items that, given their descriptions, seemed they'd be a good sell some of their... ahem... customers of a certain archetype or in certain professions. They weren't aiming to dominate usage of these items, but... well... certainly they could develop just enough product to create demand for them for the uses they intended to showcase. And anyways, they didn't intend to make it easily, or cheaply, accessible if all went well. While the aquatic plant would be easy enough to convince Kaarina and her helpers to develop and grow, they'd decide whether to import the rest later once other villages more suited to growing them began their export. She didn't care much for the raw ingredient, but rather what product they could produce from it.

Other than that were two items that had reminded the Mistress of her homeland far, far away. One they'd bring a single bag home for her and her family's personal use - it seemed she thought it'd be easy enough to import later, and she wasn't confident they'd be able to grow enough of it (though she was confident they could create the demand). The other, she intended to take it all and would personally ensure the industry flourished.

------------------------------

Once at the trading port, Zamarad presented a number of items to trade - Laz's personally-made ceramics, some filled with preserved seafood (smoked, salted, or fermented); spools of the village's distinctly-patterned textiles, some likewise personally woven by Shahrazad; small trinkets from some of their local shops; lastly, a small jar of their own special sort of 'relaxation oil' she and some 'colleagues' had been recently developing with Koehaira's oils and Kekomura's 'herb' to bring out its intrinsic 'qualities.'

She also had coin if that was determined to be insufficient.

After intense haggling, she'd be returning to Zamarad with the following:

A jar each of firemoss spores and althese clippings, plus a pouch each of molery seeds and tobacco seeds - along for some tips on how to maximize the harvest for all the produce in a small-scale setting - and as much of the silk and silk worms as the rest would allow with the full intention to purchase it all, if possible. If not, she'd prioritize the worms over the fabric itself, again with the full intention of creating a monopoly in that area.

Personally, Zemenu would have liked to bring a Valner tree sapling back as well, but she doubted whether or not the tree could survive in the village. They could always just purchase some later if they wanted.

Pelagious eyed the smaller sized goats in the pen. He had come looking for something to carry things, but the option was chickens or tiny goats. And he was sure the chickens would object to being saddled. But the making of a chicken saddle would be interesting. Where would he put the harness, tho?

He leaned closer to inspect the chickens, when he caught sight of someone wandering over to the goat pen. And wandering away with 2 goats. Well, the other breed seemed more popular. Plus, he was still stuck on how to feed chickens. He was pretty sure they needed seed and such. And honestly, his mountain town was short supply on that.

Walking a few steps over to the goats, he leaned over to inspect what he assumed was a baby goat. It was smaller than any other 4 legged animal hehad come across in his travels. In it's own, cute, beady eyed way.

He asked the pen keeper if he could handle one safely. You never knew with these trading ports. With permission, he entered the pen and began his slow appraisal of the beasts. They came between his knee and his hip. Their horns a little higher. They were also the colors of caramel or black, and some were an odd mix of black, grey, and white, all mixed together. There were even a few with the cutest little beards!!

He giggled a little when they butted his leg. These little guys were the cutest thing he had ever seen. Chickens be damned. These guys were his new target!!

For some reason the seller was growing impatient, so he crawled out of the pen and began to ask the seller some questions.

Apparently, he needed at least 6 of the females and only 1 or 2 males. For some reason, they really liked to sell the lady goats. They kept mentioning something about milk and ch eese, but he didnt think any of these goats could scent hunt either. But with the right sequined head wrap, these goats could be the front runner for cutest lil guys ever!! So who needed all that fancy stuff?

Now, what he had to trade was a different story. All he had to trade was some of his best outfits, gold pebbles, and a few pieces of uncut turquoise and quartz that had...um.. "found" in the mines, and 3 large jars of his nostalgic jam.

The little sailor man seemed particularly happy about the nostalgic jam after a small tasting. Something about it reminding him of moss feelings? Pel was curious but also scared to ask.

Which meant that pelagious had enough for 8 goats, 2 males and 6 females, a piece of rope to tie them together, and some extra feed for the journey. And he even had his best sequined tuxedo left over! If that wasn't a deal, he didnt know what was!

Now, how did he tie these guys together and get them home?

Zeme's red eyes slowly glossed over the port merchants trying to sell the busy port goers the latest ship's exotic new goods for the island. There hand to be something among this new items that will help her. Not not her, her son. Poor Aiolos had been in such a rut since his wife was unfaithfully and they divorced. As his mother it crushed her to see her son hurting so much. He seemed to be living without purpose day by day after such a betray. So that what she was doing here with the most exquisite silver cutlery she had crafted over the years. She needed to find him something. Anything. He needed a purpose again and she would do anything to see his soft smile once again.

Her attention was snapped out of her thoughts when she bumped into one of the animal pens, the one with the birds and the label 'chickens'/ Zeme didn't think animals was the answer. Or at least she felt it wasn't the answer. She couldn't explain. She just had that gut feeling that she'd know when she saw it.

She passed each item slowly. Flowers was a nice idea but that wasn't it. She didn't think pots or cookware was it though she eyed a few nice pans the merchant had. Worms? She didn't quiet understand how these works made the...silk? It was nice but once again not it...More seeds and different plants which were really neat and all but it wasn't it. She did stop at the sapling section. There were some saplings with glowing leaves that seemed to be quiet popular and then there was a second batch of saplings that, judging by how many were there, weren't moving that well. She paused and looked at the pretty leaves on the saplings. She waved down one of the attendants. Now she was curious. "Tell me...About these saplings...What are these?"

It was some time of explaining from the attendant about these mythical little trees, called maple trees. The attendant explained on how the trees were tapped and when the sap was boiled down, made a delicious syrup. Maple syrup. It was used differently in cooking, as a sweetener, it could even make candy. Now this all had Zeme's attention but there had to be a catch and there was. The trees would need to be planted in an area that got colder temps in the winter. The sap only flowed during certain temperatures after a period of hibernation. There were only so many places on the island where they'd grow to produce syrup. The attendant produced a rough map of the island and pointed to some possible spots since Zeme was still listening to every word. This could be it. It was certainly different but it could be what her family needed. Now she had ideas.

Haggling was a problem though.

For the amount of trees Zeme wanted(just about all of them) the attendant wouldn't just trade them for some fancy forks! Zeme was offended because her fancy forks were almost so fancy it was a crime to eat off of them. The attendant would trade four Valner tree saplings(Zeme found their leaves beautiful), two copper pots and three cast iron skillets of different sizes for the amount of silver cutlery she brought. No maple trees and Zeme was getting frustrated. She needed something more. "Alright...Keep my order to the side. I will be back for those trees." Zeme handed over her bundle of many silver cutlery and left with a purpose. She had an idea.

---------------------------------------------

Zeme returned a few days later with a sack of coins and cut gems. She also wasn't alone this time. Her grandson, Venti, was with her and he was panicked. Zeme waved down the baffled attendant who had helped her last time. "I'm back for my trees."

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.
"What did you do to my grandmother she sold everything she owned to get all this!" Venti blurted out. He couldn't believe what his grandmother was doing. For trees. TREES! "Grandma you don't even know if this will work! What if something goes wrong? What is something eats all of the trees and you're left with nothing? Grandma I love you but you're clearly not thinking straight. There must be another way." He sputtered out as he watched the attendant take the bag that was everything his grandmother had ever owned or worked on, looking more agreeable this time..

"Venti I know you've been strong for your father but I know
you've been hurting as well after your mother's betrayal. Yes everything could go wrong and yes I could lose everything but I need to try for you two. You both need something different in your lives and I will do everything in my power to help you both truly smile again."
Zeme spoke softly to her grandson as she watched the attendant take out a few of the coins and cut gems the demon had managed to trade her belongings for.

"Having a midlife crisis isn't the way to help dad and I grandma." Venti let out a little whimper as he saw the attendant nod to agree to the deal his grandmother was making. Oh no...There was no going back now.

Zeme smiled and thanked the attendant then turned to her grandson, ruffling his hair. "I think getting out of the city and exploring more will help you both out. Now grandma needs a strapping young lad to help her move all these saplings to the location I've picked out. Our new home Venti. It will be fun."

"Grandma this is going to take us weeks to get everything to the spot you picked out! There's only two of us and it's by the mountains!"

"They pick up some saplings and let's get moving. We've got a lot of work to do now."

A new trading post in the North, and a new opportunity for Monroe. The other pae Sunrise Terrace normally sent out were otherwise engaged with their usual routes. Dysmas had no choice but to send Monroe out. As his daughter, she was the most trustworthy of those who weren't busy and the small tasks she usually completed throughout the village would not be missed for a few days for the journey.

Monroe had been all too thrilled for the opportunity to get out of the village and see more of the island, she rarely got out. Having such a huge responsibility as negotiating trades and being trusted to make the journey on her own had puffed up her chest well enough. She had the cart loaded up with heavy sacks of dried rice and baskets full of smoked fish. Hidden safely beneath the rice sacks was a small satchel of pearls. Monroe tested out the weight of the cart and then removed two sacks of rice, they were less valuable for the weight.

She was all set to go when Dysmas showed up with a large grin on his face, escorting a sprite towards her. The smile on her face slowly disappeared as she found out that she would now be accompanied by some uncle or something that she had never met before (not that she had met many of dad's sea family). So much for her big journey by herself.

......................

Monroe cautiously perused the good offered by the trading post, even though her father had sent Sindri with her, he wasn't from their village and ultimately the trading came down to her and it was her chance to prove herself. The chickens would have been a good opportunity, but she wasn't sure of the logistics of bringing them home, and Sindri spoke up for them first and she wasn't interested in trying to outbid him. "Maybe we can negotiate for some chicks later down the road," she suggested to him.

Then the cast iron cookware caught Monroe's eye, it was much sturdier than what the village currently used for cooking. The althese clippings also struck her as something that they could take advantage of. The glow of the valner tree sparkled in her eyes as she looked it over, she didn't know much about it which made her nervous... if she traded her pearls for this and they couldn't even keep it alive... but if it was successful... what an efficient way to provide light around the village. It was a tough call to make, but one she ultimately decided on as she nervously revealed her bag of pearls to the traders. She hoped she was doing the right thing and that her father and grandmother agreed with her decision.

When she said that she was from Sunrise Terrace a package was handed to her with grandmother's name on it. Monroe stared at it, wondering what it could possibly be. She would have loved to have opened it to find out, but she also knew that was not a wise idea. She traded off her bags of rice and baskets of fish for the cast iron and althese and then considered her self finished. She took some notes on what exchanges she had made and what other goods the post had to offer this visit and then was finished.

If we're being honest, Sindri wasn't really tracking anything to do with new trade opportunities or goods to procure or really anything of the sort as he entered the small farming village of Sunrise Terrace. No, he was simply there to visit. The land for sightseeing, yes, but also possibly the only member of his extended family he'd yet to meet at this point - his half-nephew Dysmas. The village's... something(?) or other?

He wasn't really sure. Didn't really care. Anxo has just said this is where he lived.

So he'd hitched some rides with a number of wagons - and sometimes walked if needed - to make the journey across the island from Breeheart to Sunrise Terrace. It actually wasn't even as long as his first trip out of water had been, but as his first time travelling alone, it still felt like a big step. He was gonna have to write home about it and rub it in Kadri's face.

And not a day later it seemed, it was decided that he would accompany his newly-discovered great-niece on her trade journey.

Crazy.

------------------------------

He's enjoyed the company thus far and had travelled to the Trading Post without any intention of actually buying something. But then he'd saw them. The cutest, the fluffiest, the fattest little chickens he'd ever seen (and, in fact, the only ones he'd ever seen). He was instantly smitten by them.

He had to have them.

It was a hard sell, but he pulled out literally everything he had on hand. Literally. Everything. And he plunked it down right in front of those traders without a moment's hesitation, not even as his great-niece looked on aghast. They were cute and he wanted them. And with everything but the scales on his back now gone, he instead had a single rooster, five hens, his very own cart-and-coop contraption to transport them with, a bit of seed for the journey, and a stern warning to not let this male-to-female ratio drop much lower than this.

"Sure," had been his response to Monroe, which showed he wasn't particularly paying much attention to her at all as he stared at the cute widdle birbs instead.
