A group of mountain fairies has come together to create the Coinage Guild. Their purpose is to control the flow of coins into the economy .
Purpose:To regulate and control the ebb and flow of the economy on Telrunya. This is an unbiased organization, so it doesn't matter which faction a pae is from.
What does the guild do?The Coinage Guild is a group of entities on Telrunya that have pledged themselves to create, control, and maintain the currency used on the island.Ore: Miners swear an oath to only submit a preset weight of copper, silver, or gold ore mined in one of three places to the guild stockpiles. Only miners certified by the guild can submit ore. - Copper comes from a specific vein in Montagne - Silver comes from a specific vein under Laisidhiel - The gold vein has not been discovered yet, so there are no gold coins right now. Metal: Only ore from the guild stockpiles is used to make coins. It undergoes a unique, smelting process to become bars of 99% pure metal, which are sent to each participating town, village, and capital. Ore that has not gone through that process will not make coins of the proper weight and size. Coins: The coins are stamped with a design unique to each town or village. Designs from participating towns, villages, and capitals are submitted to the guild to be etched into a die. The coins contain a circular hole in the center. This serves two purposes: - Ease of transport by stringing on a cord, in addition, ease of counting - It balances the planchet to ensure a centered strike with the embossed die. Per twenty coins on a cord, tied up tight is considered a knot. A knot is a unit of measure to make counting large amounts of coins easier. This will be expanded as more coins are circulated and item values increase. Smiths: Coinsmiths & Blacksmiths undergo extensive training to earn a membership identification mark that allows them to work in any town and village. This mark is permanent, only to be marked over should the smith go against their training and the guild. - Coinsmiths only mint coins. - Blacksmiths can mint coins, as well as use their skills to fulfill the role needed to create items from ore. - Whitesmiths only make silver jewelry, not silver coins. The certified smiths use precision tools provided by the guild to shape and stamp the metal. Typically, blacksmiths are able to smelt their own ore and are free to use their skills as they see fit. They do not have the ability to make coins from normal ore. The coins would not form right and would not have the required weight. Coinsmiths do not possess the metalsmith skills to make anything else.
