Name: Haraera
Age: 15 Turns
Nameday: 3562.07.09 (m/d)
Sex: Female
Sexual Orientation: Bi (she doesn't know it yet)
Craft: Herdbeast rancher (beastcraft)
Rank: Candidate
Location: High Reaches Weyr
Physical Description:
Haraera is quite thin for her frame from her active lifestyle. She's about 5' tall now, and when she's grown she'll be 5'9". Her skin is a medium brown, a well burnished tan from all her time under the sun. Haraera has a long face, a turned-up nose, and small lips. Her eyes are brown and narrow, her eyebrows are thin.

Haraera's hair is black with subtle lowlights; it's medium-length and slightly curly. She tries to keep it elaborately styled, but by the end of the day tendrils have come loose and curl about her face. She has long arms and large hands, a thick torso, round hips, muscular legs, and wide feet. Her navel is pierced. She has several small scenic and animal tattoos on her body. Her most noticable one is a herdbeast horn on the the right side of her neck.

When out riding she wears long pants and long sleeve shirts. Haraera wears shorts and tank tops while doing chores around the house.

Personality:
Haraera is the kind of person where her plans don't have to be set in stone. She is more than capable of being flexible and changing her plans to suit the circumstances if the need arises. If plan A isn't going to work to get her to her destination, then plan B or even plan C will be considered, but she will get there. When her plans are thwarted, Haraera becomes unpredictable. Her choices while maybe logical are not always the best for the situation.

Despite any differences towards others, Haraera always tries to treat others with benevolence. She might try to give them a helpful nudge if they are struggling, even if they don't ask for it first. Her intentions are obvious. If she helps you, she'll expect your help later. It's only a fair trade after all. Haraera makes no bones about trying to hide her feelings or goals.

Haraera is generally very relaxed. She is free from tension and anxiety which helps her to put others at ease. She is able to take events in stride and let them go. Sure it may not be the outcome she wanted, but she can always try again. Sometimes she relaxes a little too much and becomes ridiculous; her actions inviting derision or mockery. She's been known to try riding younger herdbeasts, or other stunts. Despite an derision or mockery sent her way, Haraera can simply let it slide off her shoulders.

Deep down she is always questioning herself and her choices. Was that the right choice? Could she have made another choice to have a better out come? Haraera is always looking to improve and challenge herself to do better. Which can be rather hard for someone who is as disorganized as her. She is unable to plan her activities efficiently. If left to her own devices, things may not be accomplished in the most efficient order.

Positive Trait List flexible, healthy, relaxed, questioning
Negative Trait List unpredictable, ridiculous, obvious, disorganized

History:
Haraera was born second of four children to a young rancher couple. She has one older sister and two younger brothers. Her family lives on a tiny cothold called Wendber in southern Crom with 6-8 other families. They raise herdbeast to be occasionally sold to nearby Holds, but their main herd is reserved for feeding dragons.

To ease the strain on the weyrs for caring for so many animals, Wendber Cothold cares for large herds of various herdbeast breeds. They keep specific pens stocked so that riders can come and feed their dragons when they need to. A couple of the families like to keep track of how many dragons feed from their pens during the sevenday and have a mild rivalry going on.

Temitope is the oldest daughter of Haraera's biggest rival family. The two girls are close enough in age that they tended to get assigned the same chores. Despite their rivalry, Haraera will help Temitope out with her chores. Temitope and their rivalry have been a part of her all her life. She was jealous of the older girl when Temi's family allowed her to start going out and helping herd in the herdbeasts. Haraera devoted herself to learning to ride and ride well so that as soon as she could begin her apprenticeship she would be ready too.

Now a Turn into her apprenticeship, and Haraera is comfortable and confident in the saddle as she rounds up stray herdbeasts. Some day she hopes to have her own brand upon the herdbeasts that she raises which will obviously be superior to any herdbeast Temitope breeds.

Candidate Specific Questions
Do you want them to have an official Search RP? Yes
Do you understand they will age every passing year regardless if you're there to RP the or not? Yes
Do you want them to have a possible Stands Impression? No
- - - > Please keep in mind that Stands Impressions are very rare. This means that not everybody will get an opportunity to have a surprise Impression, and you lower your chances of being picked by a dragonet. Given the character is not ICly an official Candidate, they will need a reason to be at the Weyr of their choice long-term, or at least for every Hatching.

HI Magna! Haraera looks good! I only have two things I need. Would you mind expanding slightly on how she becomes ridiculous? I guess I'm not quite sure if she suddenly becomes silly when she relaxes or what.

Secondly, can you change the word cattle to herdbeasts? 'Cattle' don't exist in Pern, even though we all know that's what herdbeasts are often referring to! Her craft would simply be Beastcraft, for example. Also, another small note; herdbeasts are herded to the Weyr by locals, so dragons would not be coming to the hold directly to feed UNLESS they were unaffiliated riders.

Thanks Tsu! I think I got them fixed.
I always got confused what herdbeasts meant lmao. Sometimes I thought it was another word for runners. XD

Magna, can you address the issue of the cothold holding the herdbeasts for the Weyrs? They may allow riders to occasionally feed on their herds, but herds should be kept for Crom, not the Weyrs. They would, of course, be expected to tithe as other holds are, but the herds definitely would not be solely or primarily for that purpose. Western may be facing some hardships right now, but as a general rule the Weyrs at large do keep their own herds.

I think if you rephrase it to say that dragonriders are known to be welcome to feed there it would be fine. This just can't be their primary function. In general, the Weyrs aren't strained.
