Lochi Bardsdale - OWL Exams
xxxxx⇾Astronomy ~ {EE}
Lochi liked Astronomy and the studying wasn't objectively difficult. He also spent some time in Astronomy club to make sure he had his info down pat. Of course, he wasn't the best, but he still got pretty high marks.
xxxxx⇾Charms ~ {O}
Lochi has always found skill in Charms. He started his enjoyment for the utility of the magic, then it sparked a genuine interest. He studied hard and got top marks.
xxxxx⇾Defence Against the Dark Arts ~ {A}
While Lochi realized how helpful the class was, but he didn't like the thought of dark magic, and was easily spooked by the dark creatures. Try as he might, he only barely scraped by with a pass.
xxxxx⇾Herbology ~ {EE}
Lochi was already fairly good with plants from helping in his mom's garden, but the whole new magical spectrum was something to behold. While he wasn't the greatest, he tried hard and ended up getting a good score.
xxxxx⇾History of Magic ~ {O}
Just as you can learn a lot about stones by which layer they come from, he approached History with a layer approach: each era of time can tell you a lot about the architecture of something and the kind of jewelry and art that was fashionable and valued at the time, and more. He really liked connecting historical events he already knew to those in the magical world, especially when events overlapped.

Lochi rather liked potions. It was like cooking.... if you only cooked with really gross ingredients. Despite the ick factor of the ingredients, he did study for the exam, and ultimately did pretty well.
xxxxx⇾Transfiguration ~ {O}
Lochi is really good at math, especially figuring out how to make things work. Once he figured out the mathematical basis of Transfiguration, he was able to excel in the class. His penchant for daydreaming probably helped with vividly imagining things while transfiguring.

xxxxx⇾Arithmancy ~ {O}
Okay for someone who grew up around rocks and is hella familiar with gemstone ratings, Lochi is familiar with ideas of different metrics like “toughness” “pressure resistance” “shine/ gloss/luster”, and he would has a very good idea of what numbers really represent. So at first Arithmancy might’ve been confusing and weird, but Lochi quickly picked up on how numbers can symbolize things. Lochi developed a special relationship with Arithmancy and talks about things like “The number 6 just has a kind of gravity to it. It’s...heavier” and personifies the numbers how a chemist might personify elements.

Lochi is also quite good with art, particularly when it comes to pencil design and sculpting. He got quite good at making tiny sculptures with a jeweler's precision, which was thanks to his training at his family's shop when not at school. He also uses a lot of math to determine angles in his drawings, which would help the design aesthetic.
xxxxx⇾Care of Magical Creatures ~ {EE}
At first, CoMC was a pretty tricky subject. Once he figured out the best way to learn about the animals (study their natural habitats and how they coexist with such surroundings), he was able to do much better in the class. Sure, it was a weird way to look at it, but it worked well enough to score him a pretty good grade.

At first, Lochi wasn't sure if he wanted to take healing. He'd never had aspirations to be a doctor, of any sort. But he decided to take it, at least to learn some basic first-aid, just in case. Then he realized he was pretty good, so he kept going. He did his best on the exam and only missed a few points.

He's a muggleborn raised by a muggle family. He knows how to make toast and everything.
xxxxx⇾Mythology ~ {O}
Mythology played both on Lochi's daydreamy side and his love of history. He loved the stories and mapped out timelines of when the events happened. His careful diligence earned top marks on the exam.
xxxxx⇾Study of Ancient Runes ~ {A}
Lochi started out super interested in Runes for the artistic and creative aspects. When he realized it was basically learning a new language, not only did he lose interest, but he realized how bad he is with languages. He managed to study enough to score a pass, though.

Lochi Bardsdale - NEWT Exams
xxxxx⇾Charms ~ {O}
Lochi's been groomed for a career pretty much all his life. He, admittedly, is really good at it. When he realized Charms would be perfect for helping for his career, he made sure to study it a little extra. Sure enough, his dedication paid off, earning top marks on the exam.
xxxxx⇾Herbology ~ {EE}
Despite not being the best with plants, Lochi worked hard to try and get high marks. He practiced techniques with his mom in their family garden, using that skill in class. He still struggled, but a desire to succeed drove him well enough to pass with decent marks.
xxxxx⇾History of Magic ~ {O}
Lochi likes history and values it for an artistic point of view. He’s also a diligent student who obviously has a solid understanding of how to study history and knows how he wants to connect it to other interests. These things in tow brought him to get high marks on the test.
xxxxx⇾Potions ~ {EE}
Potions, for Lochi, was similar to cooking. He was always good with following recipes, knowing how ingredients play off each other. He worked hard in potions, even with the ick factor (he'd never use eyeballs or newts in home cooking!), but he did his best to overcome. Ultimately, his skill was rewarded with a decent grade.

The very concept of Transfiguration fascinated Lochi even when he was a first year. Luckily, his curiosity was never satiated, and he worked hard to continue learning all he could. Of course, it helped that he was naturally good with math, so the formulas came quite easily to him, even as they excelled into harder level classes.

While Lochi was initially surprised by the focus on divination through arithmancy at the NEWT level, Lochi’s base in arithmancy is rock solid (pun definitely intended). He’s familiar with numbers, patterns, calculations, and has developed a sense of numerology. Given his tendency to daydream, these divination insights only made numerology and arithmancy make even more sense to him.

Lochi is good with art, particularly where precision is required. His best talents showed in things like pottery, using his hands for exact measures. This isn't to discount his skill with other art forms, of course, since he's pretty evenly rounded with several mediums.
xxxxx⇾Care of Magical Creatures ~ {EE}
Lochi has always quite liked animals, especially now that a whole new world of creatures was opened for him. He studied up on every creature brought up in class, as well as several others. Without really having to overtly study exam topics, he still did fairly well thanks to his extra reading.
xxxxx⇾Healing Class ~ {A}
Lochi really wanted to know healing for the sake of basic first aid, but he ended up finding the NEWT level course quite difficult. Even still, he elected to take it, so he was darn well set to finish it out. Thanks to help from friends, he barely managed to squeak together a pass.

Mythology was a fascinating subject, one that Lochi was delighted to study more on even without the class. He read all kinds of books on lore and history of myths, combining it all together in a big pool of facts and fictions. He passed the exam easily, probably while spouting excessive facts on his chosen exam topic.
