[PRP] The Future Starts Now [Taja x Tirithion]

Taja's olive gaze settled over the distant fields, her hooves braced against the top of the hill where the short grass was covered in morning dew. While it had been at least a week since she had last seen another, when she left her friend Victoria's herd, Taja couldn't deny how peaceful the world around her seemed. It had been many moons since she last ventured off on her own; choosing instead to enjoy the company of her friend's growing family.

However, for some time now, more than she would have liked to admit, Taja had felt unsettled. That something was missing from her life. At first she had tried to deny what it was that was missing--she must have run too fast, or oh her heart ached because of all the sweet fruit she had eaten--but that feeling would not go away. In fact, it felt as if each day it grew worse.

Despite the loneliness that plagued her heart, Taja hadn't been ready to venture out into the world again. Life outside her friend's herd was rough and she had never been particularly versed in deceit or noticing ill intentions. She was not getting younger and the idea of spending an endless amount of time wandering and facing perils just held no appeal to her. Maybe it was that she would be facing those perils alone that was the real problem.

Taja had loved to adventure once upon a time. She had wanted to see all the world had to offer. And to some extent, she had. When it had just been her own thoughts to tide her for months on end Taja had decided that maybe what she needed was to settle down more. Only, that didn't happen. Meeting Victoria had been a blessing at the time, as her pregnancy and resulting children offered a welcome distraction to her own life. There were foals to dote on. Foals to save from dangerous bushes and thorns to pick out of manes. And it was enough. . . Until it wasn't.

Taja shook her head as if to dispel the unpleasant thoughts that were beginning to cloud her mind. She was done sidling herself; it was time for action!

The young stallion gave a languid stretch of his wings as he picked his way over the hilly terrain of the Kawani. While he was tempted to take flight, Tirithon had over-extended himself the day prior; his muscles were tense, and needed more rest. Perhaps he'd been a bit over-zealous--he was supposed to be training, supposed to be preparing for his life as a protector and guardian, and had taken off to do some exploring in neighboring lands. His two ravens had gone off to find something to eat, leaving Tirithon to his own devices.

Unfortunately, this also meant he was left alone with his own thoughts.

The world was a big place, and the winged stallion was still figuring out his place in it. He knew what drove him in his hearts; knew what he wanted to become, what he wanted to prove. While his brother did important work, Tirithon's place in the world seemed a bit more fuzzy. He knew what he desired to do, knew what he wanted to become... and yet, now that he'd put a bit of space between his twin and him, he couldn't help but feel a bit, well, small. What was he meant to be?

Surely, he was no Raven Lord, at least not yet. He was no assassin, did not kill those for the good of the herd and the neighboring lands. He was, in fact, just a soquili with two young ravens with very little actual experience. Sometimes he wondered if he fit in at all. His tail twisted in consideration of his lot, even as he walked through the dewy plains.

So lost in thought, he almost missed sight of the maroon coated mare not far before him. He had just crested a small hill when his eyes finally landed on something--someone, rather--unfamiliar. Granted, everyone he bumped into these days were strangers, but it had been some time since he'd crossed the path of anyone. So it was, Tirithon paused, unsure if he should carry on and meet the other, or keep to his course. So it was, he gave a small shake of his head feathers, and angled his walk closer to Taja, just in case the stranger was feeling sociable.

Just about ready to move on, Taja turned ever so slightly and was shocked to discover she was no longer alone. Not far from her ambled the white and black coated male with an impressive set of wings. Were those two sets? She'd never seen another like him before. He looked. . . Impressive. There were no other words in which one could define the male. However, the more she looked, the more he seemed unsure.

No, that couldn't be right. Out of all the soquili Taja had met in her life, she was certainly the least scary looking creature out there. The male before her would surely give others pause in comparison. He must have just slowed down. Or was he waiting for her to move? Oh! She might be in the way of his path. Admittedly, she had been standing there for quite some time.

Or. . . What if he wanted to talk? Taja tried her best not to get her hopes up. Besides, who knew if he was friend or foe? Well, the only way to find that out was to greet him. That's what one should do in polite company. . . Right? Oh dear. It had been far too long since she'd met someone new. How did this work again?

"Umm. . ." Taja began with clear trepidation, "Hello." She ended softly, a hesitant smile lifting the corners of her mouth ever so slightly.
