xxxxx⇾Astronomy ~ {EE}
Jordan kind of hated the math involved in Astronomy. He could list off some facts about each planet, but he neither cared nor understood the complicated movements of balls of light in the sky. Then just before his third year Jordan stumbled upon a beautiful book of celestial photography. He was captivated by the photos and the more he learned about capturing the heavenly bodies with magical photography techniques, the more interesting trivia he learned about the various planets and galaxies. He didn’t expect his compilation of knowledge to get him any more than a passing grade in Astronomy, but apparently his random details impressed the grader.

xxxxx⇾Charms ~ {A}
Jordan was more used to just doing things the “good old fashioned muggle way” sometimes. Charms were useful, but there was something incomplete about doing everything with charms. He did adequately and thought the class was nice, but was relieved to hear he wouldn’t have to take advanced charms.

xxxxx⇾Defence Against the Dark Arts ~ {P}
Despite his desire to excel in the class geared for protection, but Jordan found it really difficult. He worked really hard to try to pass the class, but it was surprisingly hard. He tried his best, but ultimately fell short.

xxxxx⇾Herbology ~ {D}
Jordan has never been good with plants. His mom could make anything grow, which was good, since he was notorious for accidental plant deaths. Knowing his inabilities, he didn't work too hard in Herbology class.

xxxxx⇾History of Magic ~ {E}
Jordan thought History was straightforward enough and easy to study for. But he was also extraordinarily susceptible to the nonsense theories and details that his study partners made up. He had a pretty good imagination, and history could get pretty wacky anyways…in the end, he found that the more he studied for history, the more confused he became.

xxxxx⇾Potions ~ {A}
Jordan did decently at potions. He completed his potions and did his assignments, but didn’t particularly put too much effort in. He could manage to stay safe in a potions laboratory and read through a basic recipe. But all the complications of potions theory he was going to leave for someone else.

xxxxx⇾Transfiguration ~ {EE}
Jordan didn’t care much for transfiguration theory at first, but he loved the idea of being able to conveniently turn something into something else. It helped that he seemed to be pretty good at the magic needed.

xxxxx⇾Care of Magical Creatures ~ {O}
Learning all about magical animals was super cool. Ever since Jordan learned of magic, he was curious about all the animals in fantasy, and was elated to discover they were pretty much all real. He signed up for the class the moment it became an option, eager to learn as much as possible in the field of magizoology. Luckily, the animals seemed to like him back, making the class a breeze.

xxxxx⇾Healing Class ~ {EE}
Jordan literally signed up for healing because an older student (Aire) pranked him, saying that it was a mandatory elective if he was in Quidditch. He figured another class was easier than getting the signatures needed to excuse himself from the class–besides, who would say no to more learning?--and thus signed up. Healing was his most challenging elective for the first two years, with a bunch of content that often went over his head. But he was empathetic and perceptive, which made his bedside manner and communication excellent. It wasn’t until a few months into his fifth year that Jordan realized he’d been thoroughly pranked. But by then he was invested, and felt like he had to see the class through to the OWL. He continued studying hard, practicing what he could and expecting the A and stopping there. Instead, thanks in part of his excellent bedside manner, he barely made the E. Now he felt obligated to continue….

xxxxx⇾Muggle Studies ~ {O}
Jordan took Muggle Studies as a muggleborn wizard because he wanted to understand how the wizard community viewed and interacted with muggle society. He excelled at most of the common tasks as a matter of “Oh so that’s how that works”. He particularly enjoyed units on photography and music, and learning about how muggle and wizard cultures and art bled into each other.

As an aspiring future musician, Jordan didn’t just enjoy music, but enjoyed working hard in music. He refined his guitar, sang a little, and tried the marimba for about half a year in his fourth year. Music theory was hard for him–why was there math in music?!--but he was very invested in music and refused to not understand it. He attended office hours, studied songs for extra practice, asked his seniors in the Music Club, and even if he still felt like he wasn’t quite there, he still knew enough to do outstandingly on the OWL.

xxxxx⇾Mythology ~ {O}
Much like with CoMC, Jordan was excited for magical mythology class. How much different could their stories be than those he grew up learning? He read ahead in all the lessons, writing elaborate stories based on what he learned. Once that happened, he realized he was quite solid on the knowledge needed to pass the exams.

xxxxx⇾Wandless Magic Practice ~ {EE}
Wandless just.... sounded cool. At least, it did to thirteen year old Jordan when he signed up. Sure enough, it was really cool... in theory. In reality, the class was a lot of hard work. Jordan was committed now, though, and he worked really hard to earn the grade.

xxxxx⇾Wizard Law ~ {A}
As a muggleborn, Jordan thought learning a bit about wizard law would help him better with learning about the magical world. He found listening to lectures interesting enough, but studying the laws and legal systems less exciting. His tendency to get mixed up didn’t help– exceptions to the rules didn’t help him remember what the actual rules were– and Jordan was particularly susceptible to falling for hearsay or fallacies in class debates. Why couldn’t he just listen and trust the arguments made to be made in good faith?!

Jordan had really liked history, and getting pretty good marks on the OWL exam helped enforce the skill. He liked learning all about magical history, even if it was sometimes confusing. He studied hard, trying to make sure fact and fiction were kept apart in his head. All in all, his effort served to get him decent marks on his final exam.


xxxxx⇾Transfiguration ~ {A}
Jordan liked the idea of transfiguration, and despite the class being difficult, he found himself further curious on its mechanics. All that in mind, he signed up for the NEWT level. While fascinating, it did kick his butt with studies. Luckily, he managed to survive, and came out with a passing grade.

Magical creatures seemed to like him, and Jordan likes creatures in return. While he didn’t have a pet of his own, he considered all the regular creatures on campus his pets and would often go out to practice his music around them. This, in addition to taking photos on them, led to extended exposure to the creatures. He didn’t have too many other classes so

xxxxx⇾Healing Class ~ {P}
Jordan only continued Healing because he felt like he had to continue after exceeding expectations on the OWL. NEWT level Healing though, was difficult, and Healing had already been one of his harder subjects. While he did excellently at first aid and simple conditions, Jordan knew he wasn’t going to be a healer of any sort, had plenty of other classes to worry about, and knew he wasn’t about to pass– yet he continued onwards. Instead, in seventh year, he focused just on explaining complex healing things in simpler ways. Combined with his gentle but firm bedside manner and ability to work with others, Jordan somehow got a P instead of the T he expected.

It wasn’t just that he grew up in the muggle world and returned there every break– Jordan was growing into a young man that cared about how people and societies developed and grew. He paid attention to how muggle and wizard cultures– especially the art and music– blended together.

xxxxx⇾Music ~ {O}
As frustrated as Jordan was with music theory, he stuck with it. It wasn’t until the week before the exam that he realized that this determination had been paying off all the while– even though Jordan didn’t feel like he understand music theory, he had studied and done everything needed, and could explain things to his fellow younger musician friends. When a younger kid noted how simple Jordan made music theory sound, Jordan realized that, despite his frustrations, he got music theory. Of course, this was just the icing on the cake– he practiced every day, was always open to collaborations, and was open to learning from anyone and being inspired to make more and more music.

As Jordan found his footing in the magical world, he found less time to dedicate to Mythology. He still enjoyed the class and faithfully completed all the work, doing excellently in the end.
