Snow had fallen lightly through the night and Nituna had awoken to a sea of soft, powdery white. She had felt the chill coming before nightfall so had taken shelter in a small rocky cave at the foot of a nearby mountain. She had emerged from the darkness to a blinding light. As her eyes adjusted, she could see the expansive meadow before her, the snow entirely untouched yet, a smooth blanket laid out before her. The snow was only a few inches deep, just barely reaching her ankles as she stepped out into the morning light.

Taking a deep breath, the cold air stinging her lungs, she smiled and reared up onto her hind legs, tossing her head before landing back down to earth and taking off in a gallop across the snowy field. She loved wintertime, and especially loved fresh snow. She kicked up her heels, giggling childishly before diving to the ground and rolling onto her back. She got back to her feet after a few good rolls and shook the snow off her pelt. Her chest heaving, she took off at a gentler trot across the meadow, setting out to explore the fresh, snowy landscape.
