“Hi everyone!” Mina strolled up to the meeting point for Squad 4, late as usual. Still despite it all, she was smiling about as much as she could be. Her face was positively beaming, so hopefully her squad wouldn’t be mad at her for being late. Mina waved, holding the scroll she was given in the crook of her thumb. “Sorry I’m late.” She added with an embarrassed laugh and rubbing the back of her head. “I lost my keys, and then my wallet disappeared, and then there was just a whole crowd of people in the way, so I had to take the long way. Anyway, I’m here now.” If pressed by one of her students about being late, Mina would just kind of rock back to retreat from the volume without her expression changing.
“Anyway, I’m glad we’re all here. So we should, uh, probably get going yeah?” Mina looked around. She recognized a couple from her personal interactions with them, and a couple from their files. Fumiko, of course. Kuchibashi, another fresh from the Academy. There wasn’t too much in his file yet, but teachers mentioned he was particularly reserved. On the opposite end, Odawaru was another new face. If Mina recalled correctly, he was a bundle of energy and hard to handle. So just thinking about him and Fumiko made Mina tired. It was the last person that caught her eye. Sumika, no last name. Mina remembered her from the Summit and felt maybe a twinge of guilt. The red haired Jonin was conflicted in her thoughts of the puppeteer. Clearly she had a lot of talent if Sadayo brought her to the summit. But she could also see why Sumika had stayed a Genin all this time. And wasn’t she part of Team Kai before… well, anyway. She was on Squad 4 now, and Mina was gonna do her best to help her feel welcome. “Once we get our mission details, I’ll give you guys two hours to go home and prepare further and then meet up here. It’s hard to get ready for a mission without knowing what it is. Shouldn’t be too dangerous though. I promise.” Mina added and the atmosphere of her smile turned more serene.
Cobalt let out a loud, whining yawn as Mina approached; not so much alerting Sumika as simply waking from his nap. Next to him the puppeteer pulled herself free of the interior of her massive owl puppet.
Uncharacteristically, Sumika’s typical cloak of iron sand was absent at the moment - or, more accurately, in a pile on the ground at least. Without it, the kugutsu prosthetic that assisted the movement of her right arm was obvious, a new feature since last Mina had seen her. She dropped a flat wrench onto a magnetized storage plate on one of the supports with a little clack.
The kugutsu device integrated seamlessly into the harness that had always supported her jiton cloak and outer garments, shifting impressively little even as she brushed iron sand out of the folds of the black coveralls underneath. A sleeve covered the upper portion of the arm inside, but the necessary tightness of its fit meant it only concealed the detail of the injury to her shoulder, and not its obvious severity. It wouldn’t take a medic to deduce that if she could still lift the arm without the mechanism, it would be a slow and painful process.
If there was any question about why exactly Sumika no longer counted herself among Kai’s compatriots, well, the dots would be rather easy for someone like Mina to connect even if they stopped short of the whole truth. Seriously injured and pulled off of active duty was an accurate enough description without the information about who’d done the injuring.
“Iunno,” She said as she lifted a watch dangling from Cobalt’s pack to read the time on it. “You don’t feel late to me.” The statement was made with a shrug as Sumika glanced around at the kids who made up the rest of her squad. The back of her good hand brushed a bit of sweat off her forehead and for a moment she looked tired, though whether it was due to the predicament of her squad members getting progressively younger or exertion was unclear.
"I came prepped." She said, patting Cobalt's pack before one of her hand started the process of putting her jiton outfit back where it belonged.

Fumiko had been among the second party present to arrive at the meeting spot, busy chowing down as per usual. She had been enjoying her life as a genin thus far, although she couldn't help but worry about her two other classmates that had been sent back to the academy as a result of not being chosen to advance thanks to Mina. It was one of a small number of chips on Fumiko's shoulder that made her a little awkward with the redhead. So just as the group would be awaiting the arrival of the teacher, the small Akimichi was busy sitting on top of a surface somewhere, just idly shoving a plastic bowl of tonkotsu ramen, slurping down the thick and creamy ingredients while nibbling on a bit of pork every so often. It was rich in fat and sodium but hey. She was young and could just burn it off whenever she wanted. The time passed right on by the time when the meet was to start and the new genin was finished with her meal once more, now pondering what could be taking their leader so long. "She's late." Fumi said, groaning to herself while starting to pace around, unable to really stay still. She was too excited for the new mission that just being told to wait was a killer for the girl.
After what felt like an hour of waiting, the squad could see their redheaded squad leader, being late to the game as always. Fumiko crossed her arms and would shoot her a glance as she greeted everyone. "Jeez, did you walk to do the mission and back?" the genin commented, but would listen up for the details about their upcoming assignment. Fumi wondered if either of the other two people here had been involved in that exercise of humiliation that was the volleyball game that she had taken part in. What surprised her was that besides the group of three obviously fresh out of the academy people, Sumika, of all people, would be placed on their squad. She wondered exactly why such a seemingly high profile person would be in a squad of kids years younger than her, but alas, it was likely just a sort of "what it was" sentiment. Fumiko was a little curious as to how puppets worked anyway. But they couldn't punch as far as she knew, so why would they get in the way?
"So...what's the mission details then?" Fumiko asked. "You haven't been told them yet?"
Classes: First Class: Taijutsu ▱▰▱ Berserker → Your external training and devotion to taijutsu has allowed you to have a [+1] stat increases to Strength and Endurance. Your hardened body naturally is as protective as Heavy Tier armor without its drawbacks. Degradation of the user's natural defenses applies in the same manner as armor. Once depleted, any damage the user takes, no matter the rank of damage applied increases the user's strength and speed by 1 stat point each for two posts up to 9 points. Should the user take additional damage before the end of the second post, the increase stacks, refreshing it's active time. Second Class: Taijutsu ▱▰▱ Battlefield Presence → The user's powerful presence on the battlefield strikes terror into their foes. Opponents are able to sense the user's terrifying fighting spirit five feet from the user per body rank of the user through chakra sense. Those within range can have this radiating fearful aura become the trigger for genjutsu, allowing genjutsu to be cast by acknowledging the user. In addition, should an opponent be targeted by a melee technique that is greater in rank than the target's body rank that target has tier two paralysis applied to their legs, requiring it to be broken by Kai equal to the user's body rank, costing the target no action for that specific instance of kai. ▱▰▱ Specialization: → Master of Many: The user sets out to learn all of their class's style available to them in their studies. The user gains access to an additional style every rank for a total of six.
Passives: ▱▰▱ Ravenous Eater | The user now gains both stamina and chakra when using the clan's ability to eat and regain resources. In addition, resources regained are increased to one rank above the user's body rank.
▱▰▱ Chakra Control | The user has learned to utilize their finite chakra control to reduce the upkeep cost of techniques by one rank and techniques with a post limitation are increased by one.
▱▰▱ All items held including armor and weapons on the user's person are enlarged proportionately.
▱▰▱ All Jutsu performed are affected by the enlarging/shrinking process.
▱▰▱ Resources may be regained in combat by sacrificing an activation to consume food on the user's person. This grants the clan member chakra or stamina equal to the user's body rank and can be done three times per combat encounter.
▱▰▱ If a target is hit directly by a body part that has increased weight, the target must be able to lift the weight of the limb or body part per the strength stat limitation. If they cannot, they suffer the full force of trauma on impact even if the technique is blocked with equal rank. To escape, the target must exert stamina equal to the user's body rank along with two activations.
▱▰▱ Akimichi can wear light or medium armor with no inherent draw backs.
▱▰▱ Each Akimichi is allowed one case with three colored pills. These colored pills may be consumed during combat to increase the chakra and chakra maximum of the user by 100 with the first pill, doubling with each additional pill to equate 400 additional chakra in total. proficiency in the Pharmaceutical Profession.
Having only really just recently met most of the people here, Kuchibashi was quite quiet. Off to the side, while everyone else might have been out in plain view, he himself just wasn't. Preferring to keep to himself as he and his small bird companion Fala had their own small interactions. The small green colored bird flying around the boy and every so often landing on his shoulder and sitting. The small boy patting the bird on the head lightly with his fingers. Of course, also making sure to keep watch of other forms of ambient life around the area as well. Having seen perhaps a few cats roaming around, birds fly overhead every so often. Bugs crawling near him here and there. Losing track of time as he paid attention to these things more than others when their...captain? leader? He wasn't exactly sure what to call her in that regard. Her appearance snapped him back to reality for a moment. She was late? He hadn't really noticed, but if she said so then it had to be true right? She mentioned they might have more time to go and prepare again after getting more details, however Kuchibashi had come rather prepared from the beginning. He didn't know if they would so he was ready to head out at anytime. What exactly was the mission?

A woman stretched as she exited the guardhouse nearby, twirling a scroll in her palm on her approach to the assembled squad members. “Squad 4. Squad Leader, Minashiba Takatsuki. Squad members, Fumiko Akimichi, Kuchibashi Inuzuka, Sumika Uzumaki.” She paused for a moment, double checking that everyone was present before continuing.
“I am Coda, Konoha Konin and liaison between the office of the Hokage and village covert forces. A little over an hour ago, Oinin covert operations received a report about a monastery in the mountains of an unaffiliated land on our north western border ceasing all trade with anyone. Your mission is to find out why.” A heavily tattooed arm extended to offer the scroll to Mina with the swishing sound of her rolled up jacket sleeve as an accompaniment.
“The details of the report are in the scroll along with the mission brief, should you desire them. The report has had all sensitive information redacted, so you are free to do what you please with it.”
Inside the scroll, Mina would find the following information:

[Dated Two Days Ago] COS asset ▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓ made contact with COS regional operations in ▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓. They provided information on an apparent halting of trade between a remote monastery and nearby population centers, both internal and external to the Land of Fire. The monastery’s location indicates this would be highly unusual, as they should be quite reliant upon trade for supply.
Oinin regulars were dispatched to investigate and confirmed no travelers to or from the monastery over a 36hr deployment period. It was determined at the end of this period that further deployment of COS forces risked provocation of local citizenry. As a result, per Oinin leadership guidelines on escalatory actions, COS regular forces did not attempt to enter monastery grounds.
However, scouting of the mountain path to the monastery did not uncover any impediment capable of explaining the lack of travel. COS forces, specifically ▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓, also reported a concerning lack of fresh, non animal, tracks on the path, despite recent rains softening its surface. It is unlikely anyone has traveled to or from the monastery within the last week, and solicitation of information from areas that have had contact with it suggest this time frame is, though unlikely, potentially as broad as two weeks.
Although concerning, this situation should be approached cautiously as there is no concrete intelligence to support an open military response. Suggest sending a full squad of regular shinobi with instruction to confirm the status of the monastery.

Brief: Enter monastery grounds and make contact with leadership if possible. Confirm status with regional intelligence. Do not assume hostility, do not engage unless engaged.
Intelligence suggests the nearby trading post on the border of The Land of Fire as a logical point of approach, and you may decide your course of action from there. There are other settlements to the south and west of the monastery that may be of interest. Though how these are approached may be determined by the squad leader.
It is of paramount importance that violence be used only as a last resort. With the threat posed to the shinobi villages by the Jashinists, it is vital neighboring nations not be coaxed into allying in a pact of aggression. It is the village’s opinion that an aggressive, offensive action could spark a conflict similar to the war with the UHV and subsequent activities of Kogarashi. Care should be taken to ensure that neighboring small, non-village-aligned nations do not feel threatened by Konohagakure’s actions.
Once the state of the monastery or its inhabitants is confirmed, the Squad Leader should make an attempt to send a mission status report. The Squad Leader is authorized to provide humanitarian aid, or delegate this task, at their own judgment. The Squad Leader is authorized to pursue persons of interest, but may only cross foreign borders in pursuit with the company of the rest of the squad (barring unforeseen circumstances such as incapacitation), at their own judgment.
The Squad Leader is authorized to act as impromptu representative of Konohagakure in the presence of foreign officials, or delegate this task, at their own judgment. The Squad Leader is authorized to end the mission and return to Konohagakure at such time as they judge the task herein outlined complete, or upon encountering significant hostility and especially in the event that said hostility may lead to collateral damage.

Coda's tattoos shifted down one of her arms as she raised a hand, the other tucking itself into a jacket pocket as if by force of habit. "I can offer you a seal for more efficient communication if you'd like, otherwise you can report back via normal means. Either way I'd suggest you leave as soon as possible." She added, gesturing towards Mina with the unpocketed hand.

“What, and leave nothing for you to do Fumiko?” Mina replied to Fumiko’s taunting. The Jonin had a smile on her face, but a slight shadow hung over her to give her a menacing air. “You’d like that, huh? Nah there’s gonna be plenty of work left for you.” The Jonin shifted gear to Sumika, watching the puppeteer wipe sweat from her brow. Was she tired already? Mina took a special note of the young woman’s arm, and she could feel the scar on her stomach burning. It wouldn’t take a genius to connect the two injuries. Instead she turned her attention to the bear and gave Sumika a small, genuine smile. “Well, don’t hesitate to ask if you need us to help ya, Sumika. You’re part of our team now after all.” The squad leader tilted her head to Kuchibashi, silently implying the same thing to him as well as a way to get him to come out of his shell. Should he want to do so. Even without the details of their mission, Mina hoped she’d be able to get to know her squad a little better by the time it was done.
The appearance of Coda shook Mina from her reverie, giving them a brief rundown of their task. “Stopped trading with anyone?” Mina asked as she gently took the scroll from Coda’s hand. The redhead cocked an eyebrow and tilted her head. “That… seems like it’d do more harm than good, if it’s something they did on purpose.A place that small probably can’t be too self sufficient.” Mina continued to scan the scroll for mission details, trying to answer any questions she had before she asked. “Are there any signs of foul play? A Genjutsu, maybe? Is it possible there’s some grievances we don’t know about?”‘Wouldn’t exactly be the first time…’ she thought, thinking back to the events at New Verales. Mina continued to scan the document before her face twisted as a sentence took her by surprise. She tried to hide it as quickly as it formed and her eyes shifted quickly to Sumika. ‘Is she… that much of a problem?’ Mina had to wonder before shaking her head. “Hm?” The Jonin turned back to the JUEI agent once she was done answering her questions. “Oh, hey if you’re offering a seal I’ll take it. Yozen seals are grade A Fuuin, they’re pretty impressive.” Once the seals were distributed, or however Coda gave them. “All right, if you guys are ready, we can head out. We can figure out a plan on the way, sound good?” The redhead, once her squad was ready, would begin to leave. “Thanks for the tip Coda, see ya!” She finished with a wave before sealing the scroll herself, making it disappear with a cloud of smoke.
Sumika glanced between Fumiko and Mina, and then to Coda as she approached. The insistence that she was part of their team now was a little hollow to her, as she'd heard that before and believing in it had nearly cost her a limb. It wasn't unappreciated, Sumika just found it difficult to believe with out actions to back it up.
The puppeteer also wasn't particularly surprised as Mina barely contained a response to something written in the scroll and turned a gaze in her own direction. No doubt she was regarded as a problem, between the office, the summit, a bit of light smuggling the village no doubt noted but couldn't prove if they wanted to, a handful of unapproved walkabouts, and messing up most of the bazaar attempting to defend herself from Kai (an action that she, Himitsu, and Miki had decided not to lay at his feet in any official documents). In addition to the lesser incidents of deploying her rats in "unapproved manners", several uncorroborated noise complaints from her apartment, and the damage caused by a giant, curious bear prior to her training him.
It wasn't exactly like she'd shied away from it either, so while Sumika had plenty of reasons for being a bit of thorn in the side of a lot of the village's authorities, she'd put up little defense against any claim that she'd earned it. Hell, she'd meant to earn at least a fair bit of it, and as someone who had little ambition to a higher station it'd served her far better than Chunin would have. Or so she assumed, having never been a Chunin. Didn't exactly seem to make a lot of peoples' lives easier.
A final swish of her hand reformed her jiton cloak as Mina suggested their departure. "If anyone wants a ride let me know. It might be hard to fit all of you on Vogel," she said, patting the huge owl puppet, "but Cobalt can help. Unless I'm not allowed to fly, then, uh, I guess at least one of you can ride on Cobalt with me. But he's not really built for that, he's just big."

Fumiko beamed proudly at Mina's rebuttal, the two having a somewhat rocky relationship in terms of their past meeting with the volleyball game but the two were probably on good enough terms to put up with one another. Maybe Fumiko looked up to Mina just a tad and was jealous of that cool stuff she did like embedded her arm into the ground, but she would be hard pressed to admit that to anybody. "Hehe, somebody's gotta make you do teacher stuff." Sumika would be the next target of the group's worries, with the Akimichi looking over at the odd egg in the bundle. It was nice that she was getting to join their fun, though Fumiko did wonder why they would need to take a high leveled ninja with them for some kind of passe mission. But whatever, Mina and the Kage probably knew what they were doing. Some lady came out of the building nearby and would hand the scroll to Mina, Fumiko eyeing the arm extended to the woman. Her arm was literally covered in tattoos, designs that the child did find some interest in. "Whoa...Cool tattoos." The girl said to herself, finding herself leaning forward just a bit while taking the brief glimpse at the Konin's sleeve before she recalled it. She was a bit let down but would shake her head and cast a toothy grin to the group.

In addition, should an opponent be targeted by a melee technique that is greater in rank than the target's body rank that target has tier two paralysis applied to their legs, requiring it to be broken by Kai equal to the user's body rank, costing the target no action for that specific instance of kai. ▱▰▱ Specialization: → Master of Many: The user sets out to learn all of their class's style available to them in their studies. The user gains access to an additional style every rank for a total of six.
Passives: ▱▰▱ Ravenous Eater | The user now gains both stamina and chakra when using the clan's ability to eat and regain resources. In addition, resources regained are increased to one rank above the user's body rank.
▱▰▱ Chakra Control | The user has learned to utilize their finite chakra control to reduce the upkeep cost of techniques by one rank and techniques with a post limitation are increased by one.

When Coda had arrived Kuchi snapped out of his little world of watching small animals and nature and back to reality. He was about to head out on a mission with his squad leader and squadmates. Although Mina had directed something towards one of the others, he could tell it was also a little bit directed towards him as well. Didn't really mean he would take action on such though, that seemed much more like the other people on the squad's thing than his own. More details were given about the mission, and any questions or conclusions made already had been just about what Kuchi would have questioned in the first place. It seemed everyone had been ready to go, even he himself was ready to go. Sumika's offer to ride the giant owl she had just pat might have been something that Kuchi jumped at. However being close to it made him feel a bit...uncomfortable perhaps? Maybe it was seeing the odd, to him at least, plumage of the puppet from up close that uneased him? "I uhm, will ride it if we have to. But I don't think I'd be very comfortable with riding it." The young boy would say in reference to Sumika's giant owl puppet.
Coda placed the seal, the typical formula for the Scroll Communication technique combined with the Yozen’s patented seal, when given consent by Mina. Black eyes wandered towards the curious girl as she watched the tattoos intently. Coda wasn’t really the smiling sort, conflicted as she was, but a corner of her black clad lips curled into a faint smirk nonetheless. Fumiko was cute, and as grumpy and standoffish as the Oinin was, she found it hard to fault the children of the village for its faults. Well, at least the ones that weren’t being insolent little brats.
“Correct.” The Konin said, responding to Mina’s inquiry. “They have not shown in the trading post on our side of the border for some while, and contacts in the town further into the Land of Waterfalls haven’t been able to nail down any sightings of them either - which is strange as a bunch of monks buying in bulk tends to stand out. It’s possible they worked through the settlement south of them as intermediaries, but as it’s not a significant influence we have no intelligence presence there.”

In addition, the user gains a [1] point increase to strength and speed per rank of the armor. ------- Kaiser Armor allows the user to regenerate 10 stamina per rank of chakra applied to each technique while the armor is active. The user may not generate more stamina than their reserves may hold. ------- The Kaiser Armor now causes searing burns upon contact that blister due to the crackling chakra. The user's strength and speed are increased by [1] point per rank of the armor. Taijutsu and bukijutsu techniques used while the armor is active create shock waves [5] feet in the direction of the attack per rank of the technique.
[ Mirror Image Arts Training ] The user may cast the Shadow Clone technique in conjunction with techniques from this style to replace mirror images with the clones. Casting Shadow Clones in this manner does not consume an activation. ------- The user has learned to control their chakra in a fine manner which allows them to create an additional mirror image per rank of the technique it is executed with. These additional images do not increase the strength of the parent technique.
