Stupid is as stupid does. If there was one thing Plague should have known, it was that trying to fight the bear instead of just stealing the treasure was a very dumb idea. The job was simple. Get the locket from the cave that belonged to the mother of the female that hired him. He completed the task easily, but he wanted to be a hero and take down the bear. It was a task his grandmother did, but little did he know that it nearly took her down in the process as well. He wanted to feel like a badass and be able to brag about this to his family especially his brother. However, he could not take the bear down. He hurt the beast, but he had to flee, or he wasn’t going to make it out of there alive.

He had some scrapes and cuts, but the semi-deep gash on his front right shoulder was the thing that worried him the most. Of course, the bear couldn’t have hit his other shoulder that had protection. No, he wasn’t that lucky. He limped a little further before slumping against a tree and huffing. He had dried blood on his leg and on whatever part of his body was injured. There were too many areas to even count. He needed to finish this job and rest. Rest for a couple of days at least.

Then he heard a cheerful sound coming from the trees above him. He was in the dense forest and the birds were happily singing their tunes this morning. He wasn’t fond of the spring. In fact, he preferred the fall or the winter. The colder weather didn’t bother him, but the heat did.

“Ugh this is annoying..I can barely walk..” He mumbled as he pushed himself off the tree to continue. He hoped wolves or other predators didn’t catch wind of the blood in the air. He was in no condition to fight.

He limped his way along seeing a river just as he excited the forest onto the open plains. The soft spring breeze felt nice and didn’t bother his wounds much which was a good thing. He was already in enough pain, and it was getting to the point where his vision was starting to blur. Was he tired? He didn’t know, but he hadn’t slept or stopped moving since he got away from that cave. He was beginning to think it was the loss of blood that had him starting to feel woozy. He, however, had to press on. He didn’t come from a family of weaklings and his mother certainly didn’t raise him to be a quitter.

As he neared the river, he lowered himself enough to take a drink before sighing. He needed to clean his wounds and luckily for him the river opened into a nice size lake. He made his way over as best as he could and stepped into the water. He sunk his body into the chilled water only leaving his head and most of his neck above the water. He ignored the stinging pain he felt from his wounds being surrounded by the cold water and took a moment to relax.

He half wondered what his brother would think of him at this moment. Would he help him with no issue, or would he laugh while helping him? He didn’t know, but he hoped he never showed this side to him. His mother would probably give him a good tongue lashing too and then his grandmother...he wondered what she would say. He looked up to her and even to his mother. They were both independent and strong mares. He couldn’t imagine being in his mom’s position putting up with their father. She had to be tough if she could handle being around him. A small smile formed at the thought.

He had to push the thoughts from his mind or else he would end up withering away to them at this point. He opened one eye slowly and noticed a stallion in the distance. He didn’t want to be bothered. He didn’t even want to speak to anyone. So, he moved towards the edge of the lake before stopping. He felt so tired. So exhausted. He had little to no energy left, but he didn’t want to end up getting attacked. Of course, he didn’t know if he would, it was just an assumption. To him everyone was after something.

He pulled himself out of the water as quickly as he could and before he could walk any further, he felt faint. Faint to the point where he couldn’t move any further.

Now his guard was down, and this stallion could easily take him out if he wanted.

“Don’t come near me..or I will kill you” He mumbled in the most non-threatening voice ever.

User Image Stepping clear of the cavern he shared with his family Varith looking around at the newly blooming world around him. The edge from winter wasn't quite perfectly gone yet but the new buds and flowers were always a good sign. He breathed deeply, the scents of spring filling his lungs and making him do a little in place trot step for how lovely it was. The strange ghost like beings that followed him everywhere swirled with the delight he felt, brushing through his fur as they passed around him. He called into the cavern to his mother and told her he was going out to the lake for a bit. She told him to be careful, and he called back that he would.

He wandered for a time aimlessly before coming to the open plains where he saw a fresh trail carved through the newly sprung grasses. Heavy hoof prints at that... He lowered his head and examined the tracks noting that there was blood droplets amongst them. Nostrils flared his head shot up and he looked in the direction they went. "Hmmm..." He said to himself. Deciding quickly he chose to follow them. It didn't take long to make it there, the grass not even remotely high enough to stop his progress or cause him to lose the trail, but when he finally reached the lake and saw the other standing there woozily he immediately became worried. His protective instincts kicking in. He went to approach but before he could lift his foot to move forward he heard, mumbled thought it was, a threat to stay away or the other would kill him. His ears laid flat against his head as he weighed his options. He didn't know this other and didn't know what he was capable of but the other was also badly hurt and looked fit to collapse at any moment. He felt his ghosts brush through his fur, spurred by his chaotic thoughts before he finally made up his mind, the spring breeze filtering through his long mane, "If you feel the need to harm me then do so, I will not fight back, but I would like to help you if you'll let me..." He waited, ears forward in a friendly manner to see what the other would say.
