It was a standard day for the little harpy community somewhat close to - and increasingly friendly with - Breeheart. The birds (non-harpy) were chirping, the frogs croaking. The sun was already risen, and Saira was sure to complain about something upon returning home from her hunting trip. She was currently avoiding the new girl Hatil had let in while looking for a sensible reason to kick her out.

Mossy was currently out skulking in the village - apparently she wanted cookies and would be back sooner or later (see her rp with Bree for details on that).

Maikai had taken the four teens on a hunting trip themselves - their aim was smaller game, such as rabbits and voles.

Hatil was perched on the roof and watched her bestest best friend down below. "What'cha doing~?"

shadica
Valko had taken the chance to grab a few things from the nest to be cleaned as all most everyone was out and about. It was very difficult to wash the increasingly disgusting flour sack pillow as the now adult children got upset every time he tried to move it.

He had set it next to the pond and was collecting water for it and the other items to clean before moving to another spot. It wouldn't do to wash the things in the drinking water after all.

Looking up when Hatil showed up he responded "Cleaning" He accidently knocked the bucket he had just filled over with his new curly tail (which had started wagging a lot when he saw hatil) resulting it in spilling all over the floursack. Ahh now he would have to cut it open. Other wise the stuff inside would mold (if it hadn't all ready)

The kids would be so upset. He'll have to take a trip to breeheart to get it refilled once the sack was dry.

At least that is what he was thinking of doing before he noticed the floursack had started moving wiggling like something was in side before exploding in a shower of flour.

Once the flour dust cleared there was a tiny little creature staring at him where the pillow had been.

".........................help" he whined sadly at hatil. Speckles and Mossy will murder him for this.

Hatil grinned and offered him a thumbs up at his declaration - yes, cleaning was important! But she still hated to do it. But this was her bestest of all best friends, so she should probably help... in a bit.

Her train of thought wasn't able to continue though as the twins' favorite pillow was thoroughly soaked. Oh no! She flexed her wings and rolled forward and off the thatched rooftop before beginning to glide on down to Valko. Or... that was her plan... but she pulled back and began to fly in place as the wettened pillow began moving. What the hecc--

AND THEN IT EXPLODED! WHAT THE HECCEN WHAT?!?

She stayed in her location as the flour slowly thinned out and blinked in confusion at the strange thing now sitting covered in it. Wait... She'd seen something similar to this... She quietly landed next to Valko.

"The pillow... It was an egg...??"

Clearly the only explanation.

shadica
Valko turned to Hatil despair in his eyes as she claimed it to be an egg. What kind of egg took this long to hatch? It was older than their adult children! He had it before he had come to live here!

He had never seen a squishy bendy egg before. But Hatil's explanation was the only thing that made sense. It must have been some sort of egg thing from a very slow growing species. Would it have killed the children like some Cukoo birds do if it had hatched sooner? He shuddered at the thought.

What to do with it? His kids would be upset their pillow is gone, the thing was upset by something since it had started to cry and Saira was going to be upset by the screaming. Oh no Saira, she would be furious. "What do?"

Do they get rid of it before Saira find outs so she doesn't yell? Keep it and deal with her wrath (as usual).

---

Borkbork was just sitting there being a flour sack as one does when they are in fact a flour sack, felt a splash and the sensation of water seeping into the fabric of his bearing and making its way to his floury innards.

Then suddenly he was no longer a flour sack, He had feets! and Eyes! there was so much stuff to see! to much! It was bright and loud! His new eyes and ears hurt! Which made him do something else he had never done before, even in his deepest most flour sackery moments of despair. CRY. Water was coming from his face and wailing from his mouth. He had no idea what was happening. Too much all at once!

Hatil nodded again, convinced in her assessment. That said, the moment of confusion could only last so long, as the thing started to cry. Well of course it did! Chicks always cried when they hatched, and even though this one looked weird, it was clearly a chick! And look, it was covered in a strange powder instead of the usual goop.

"Let's clean it, then name it?" Treat it the same as the girls. They could figure out what to do after. "I'll get a bucket and soap and fluffy tail!" Being clean would make it stop crying. She ran off to go get the items

shadica
Valko nodded and picked up the weird powder covered chick. If hatil thought it was then it was. He was glad that Hatil was his beststest friend. She all ways knew what to do in weird situations.

He tried humming like he had when the girls where little to sooth the little one while Hatil fetched the things they would need to clean it.

Hmm a name? It was a flour sack at one point, so Sacky? Maybe. Hmm Flour, SackFlour. It had little feets and a tail like a dog. Woof? He'd have to suggest a few to Hatil when she came back. See what they could think of together

Daisicle
Though flying may have been faster, Hatil ran on her talons into their homestead and looked through their storage area for all sorts of stolen acquired items of various uses. First the bucket (this one actually wasn't stolen!), then a bar of Venus' soap, then a rag (previously a Venus towel), then a nice and fluffy Venus towel (not yet torn apart). Perfect! She then filled the bucket with some freshwater and then returned to Valko, arms and hands full of the necessary things.

She set the bucket on the ground, then placed the items close to, but not directly next to, it. This way the poor chick wouldn't splash water in it. She then put the soap and the rag in the water and rubbed them together until everything was a little frothy. Now was the perfect time to add the chick! She passed the soapy water bucket over to Valko. "I've never seen a chick without wings before!"

shadica
"Weird" Valko agreed as he placed the wingless chick in the bucket of soapy water. He tried to be careful as he washed around the face to avoid getting soap in the chick's eyes.

Borkbork wiggled as he was placed in the bucket. It was wet! He was feeling things! His poor over loaded brain could not handle all these sensations he had not experienced in his long life as a flour sack that where all happening at once. So he just continued screaming because that seemed like the thing to do.

Maybe sacky wasn't a very good name now that he thought about it , the chick wasn't a flour sack anymore. He didn't look like moss like Mossy did but he did have a lot of dots like Speckles. "spotty?" He suggested to Hatil

Hatil agreed - it was weird! What kind of bird didn't have wings? How was it supposed to fly?!? Sure, even though Valko had wings he was still kind of bad at it, but her bestest best friend of all friends was slowly but surely improving. Certainly by the time this little one was old enough to learn, perhaps he'd be able to help with some of the teaching.

Hatil crossed her arms as she pondered. Spotty... Hmm... "Too close to Speckles - they'll get confused." What an astute observation. Still though, what -could- they call this screaming, wingless bird? It just looked like dirt, and it had weird long ears... and no wings... mmm... It wasn't particularly fluffy...

When Borkbork was nice and clean, she took him from Valko and began drying him off in the nice and soft towel. Maybe this would help?

shadica
Bork stopped wiggling as he was taken out of the bucket to get dried off. He has slowly gotten used to this constant bombardment of sights sounds and feeling. "Bawaaaf"

Ahh he can make many noises apparently. "ooowuwuf"

Valko wasn't sure what to name it. Hatil was right the names where to close. He didnt look like a chick. A tail and paws and ears like a dog. "like woof" He pointed out to Hatil.

Maybe a dog name?

Daisicle
"Like woof?" Hatil parroted back while she made sure Bork was nice and dry - oh look, his 'feathers' were fluffing up! See, baths made all newly-hatched chicks happier. Next thing on their to-do list would obviously involve getting it some meat to eat. After the name though. "M... Woof? Bark? ....?" What were other similar sounds?

shadica
Valko tried thinking very hard on a name. the noises the chick was making was kind of weird. usual chicks made bwaaak bwaak noises like chickens.

Barkbark? Why was naming things so hard. Bork? Borkbork? "Borkbork?" That was a kind of noise woofs make yeah?

Borkbork was now a dry and very fluffy baby. His fur was poofed up and he wasnt sure why. But at least he wasnt wet any more.

Daisicle
Ooo, BorkBork. That was cute! Hatil liked it! With a grin, she nodded and agreed. "Let's do BorkBork!" She held the toddler up and nodded. "Welcome to life BorkBork!"
