Ah the poor children, these were the ones that were panicking because of their OWLs, and maybe panicking that they didn't know any charms. Alarick shrugged, he would either make these kids succeed, or they would all fail and he'd never see them again. A win-win truly.

He wrote the notes on the board, sure that these kids were used to his no textbook and low notes to write method. They would either learn the material, or they wouldn't. If they needed help... that's what office hours were for. He wrote everything on the board, and waited for his OWL kids to come in.

Mattie had not entirely gotten used to how funny it was to be repeating the same lessons again. Not funny as in haha but as in odd. She knew silencio it was even on the OWLs if she remembered right (not that she remembered much of last school year) but here she was learning it again. Professor Lorien-Knapp would know her as a P student but Mattie knew she was better. She was good at Charms or was when her mind was not being attacked by thoughts and emotions she could not control. Like in her other subjects she was determined to prove she was better than her OWLs told her professors she was. They of course knew what had gone on. Her diagnosis of early onset bipolar I was no secret among the staff as it shouldn't be. They were responsible for her well being at Hogwarts and her parents were determined to not have a repeat of last year. Just because she had "mental health issues it did not excuse poor performance". Sir and Ma'am were kind and smart enough to set her up with a psychiatrist and the medication and reaching out to staff to help but Mattie still had to prove herself. The bipolar was not a reason to do poorly it was just something that was there in her parents opinion. Mattie was inclined to agree.

Mattie politely smiled at Professor Lorien-Knapp as she entered the room (earlier than most). Looking to the board she almost sighed aloud. The odd handwritting was to be expected but did show how much of an odd duck the professor could be. She supposed she was an oddity too even if she was an organized one. Mattie took a seat in the front row near the center to show her determination to do well this year and quickly pulled out one of her color coded notebooks and a few colorful quill tip pens before she began to neatly start her notes

Jade was the second to arrive to class, following behind Matilda Harper who, as Jade had heard, had failed her fifth year in its entirety. The fifteen year old didn’t want to ask the older girl – it was none of her business why she was repeating her fifth year, and she didn’t want to upset the girl. Instead, she flashed her a soft smile before taking a seat in the front row, but on the very left of the room. Hopefully, she wouldn’t come off as rude to the other blonde, but she really did not feel the need to want to know whether any of the rumours were true, and she didn’t want to risk accidently bringing anything up that would set off the sixteen year old. Once more students arrived and Flynn joined her, she was sure Mattie wouldn’t even think twice about the fact that Jade chose not to sit with her. As they waited for their classmates to arrive, the Prefect prepared to learn Silencio, the silencing charm by taking out her notebooks, quills, and ink.
