Tirzah, in the hope of establishing some sort of trade-off system, had volunteered to watch Ranuin's triplets to give him a break. Rho and Mena were doing their customary lifting + Mojo's date (not that they'd call it that, probably), so it'd just be her and the....seven children. Well, she already had four, so how much more work would three extra be? Besides, they'd probably entertain themselves for the most part.

After welcoming the boys to their alcove, Tirzah got all of them situated with a snack of apple slices and nuts, then got out some toys while they ate. They didn't have a ton of things, as her four were at the stage where they mostly liked to make up pretend games, but they had some wooden blocks (from Grandpa Faelon) and some soft cloth toys (from Auntie Alba).

Nurit had sat down and scooched as close as possible to one of her siblings, as was her custom (today it was Chaim, who happened to be sitting next to her). She didn't want to be too far into his personal space, or he would make her move, but she'd sat close enough that their knees touched when they sat cross-legged. Then she happily ate her snack.

Ziv, with a larger audience than normal, got up to some antics. He made apple-slice eyebrows, and stuck nuts between his teeth and lips to create a bulging appearance.

Dai
Khelek was sitting about, his legs stretched in front of him and his hands placed down in-between them on the floor, as his tail swished behind and his ears twisted on a swivel. Ever since he'd gotten in trouble (again) for forgetting to tell dad where he was going (again) and effectively disappearing on him (...again), he'd kinda been in 'grounded' and 'no going out to see friends!' mode. But today was cousins, not friends, though he was also friends with his cousins.

That said, he wasn't actually all that thrilled by their snack. As kids often do, he was currently going through a picky eating phase where he insisted he only eat the kinds of foods that wolves eat (i.e. meat) and was pointedly refusing to eat just about anything else.

It was probably quite frustrating for his dad.

And so his little snacks just lay in front of him in a small pile.

Ughhhhhh. Chaim hated when Nurit decided to be all clingy with him. Like he loved his sister (as much as a kid loves their kid sis anyways), but by the Earth was it annoying! How was he supposed to go play with his cousins with her all around - there was no room for girls here! He'd have to figure out a way to ditch her later so he could actually play with the kids he actually wanted to play with.

He'd stuffed his own snack into his mouth damn near immediately - he always tended to eat his food a bit fast, resulting in enough tummy aches that he really ought to have learned better by now - and was still chewing them when he noticed that Khelek hadn't yet touched his. Heheheh... Mom said this was the last snack before dinner... BUT HE COULD AND HE WOULD EAT WHATEVER HE COULD GET HIS GRUBBY HANDS ON IN THE MEANTIME! With a deft finesse, he (not so) stealthily grabbed all of Khelek's nummy nums and quickly stuffed them into his mouth before anyone could tell him no.

When he looked over at Ziv, there was a smug proudness to his over-stuffed cheeks.

Irit was scooted close to her sister, kind of quietly eyeing her three cousins as she nibbled on her snacks and internally pouted. Her friends at school had been making fun of how weird her cousins looked, and now she felt super self-conscious about the fact that they were visiting - what if someone saw! And then thought she was friends with them. And then started making fun of her too and stopped being her friend!

It was bad enough that she stood out with her different-colored eyes and her missing branches - but they didn't even look like faun anymore! What was with those hooves? and ears? and wings? an tails? Ugh. Why did they have to be related this was THE WORST.

Why did she even have to be here? Couldn't she and Nurit just, like, go play somewhere else? Boys were gross and had cooties anyways - and she didn't want to catch cooties.

Fable
Randir was sitting with his booty up against the back of his brother as he laid on his stomach staring at his snacks. He poked at them a bit before shoveling a little too much in. He struggled to chew on them, but eventually made it through. When he was done he sat back up and looked over his brother’s shoulder. Of course he hadn’t eaten again! Guess it was Randir to the snack rescue!

He was about to ask him if he could have it when his cousin got to them first. HEY! Randir snorted grumpily, “You didn’t ask!” He whined at the other. “You always gotta ask first!!”

Mene
Tirzah ate her own snack in the kitchen. She wouldn't intervene unless asked. It was good for children to work these things out themselves.

Nurit pouted when Chaim leaned away from her. "Chaimmmm," she whined. But her problem was quickly solved when Irit scooted closer to her. That'd work. She quickly scooched over to Irit, bringing her snack with her so greedy Chaim wouldn't steal it.

Ziv laughed at his brother's chipmunk cheeks, causing nuts to fall from his mouth. He shrugged at Randir. "Hey, Khelek wasn't usin' 'em," he said with a shrug.

Dai
Chaim laughed in response to Ziv's laughing, which he then directed towards Randir. He opened his mouth to snip back then, upon realizing it was far too full for that, aggressively resumed chewing until he was done eating. With a s**t-eating grin, he replied, "Survival of the fittest is what daddy says!"

Irit pouted and rolled her eyes, "Nuh uh, Papa says to be nice and share. This is why nobody likes you."

Chaim looked over at his sister aghast. "Not true! Daddy said to get big and 'hella strong' and stuff. Definitely. Not like a girl would ever understand that though," he looked back at his cousins, expecting to be backed up, "Right?"

Khelek flopped on his back and looked up at the ceiling, pausing to cue up his whiney voice, before whining, "I'm huuuuuuungry I wanna snaaaaaack but I want meeeeeeat..." Much to his chagrin, Chaim's comment went largely unresponded to.

Irit continued to pout as she continued eating her snack - boys were def THE WORST. She didn't even wanna play with them. Why couldn't they have any girl cousins ughhhhhh.

Fable
Randir blinked at Irit, “Oh…” Well, he hadn’t said he didn’t like him. He just wanted to make sure his brother had eaten… Guess it didn’t matter though cause now he was flopped over not even bothering with the conversation.

So, like a typical kid, he ignored Chaim and started power crawling towards some of the toys. Whatever, the snacks were gone anyways. He grabbed a couple before bringing them back to Khelek, “Share?”

Mene
Tirzah couldn't help a snorty giggle from the kitchen. It turned out that Irit and Chaim were both right--consequence of having more than one father--, though she bristled at Chaim's insistence that girls couldn't be strong. They'd have a conversation about that later, they would.

Nurit, a rather slow eater, pulled her snack toward her and made a circle with her legs around it, almost like a fence, to keep thieves from stealing it as some of the boys started to move around. "Well, Mama says it's more important to be kind than it is to be strong or even smart." A thoughtful pause. "And Mama's smarter than Papa and Daddy," she asserted, chewing matter-of-factly.

Yep, Ziv was bored of this. He finished his snack, wadded up the napkin it was on and tossed it in the direction of the kitchen, and joined Randir at the toys. "What're you playing?" he asked.

Dai
Khelek vacantly stared at the ceiling and brought his hands to his stomach, fingers interlacing, as he contemplated why he wasn't getting his meat when a flash of movement from above caught his attention instead. He flicked his ears and seemed like he might just continue throwing a fit, but then swung his torso forward to sit back up and take the offered toy from his brother - some sort of horse-esque doll. He looked at it with a frown before standing up and dramatically flourishing it above his head. "This is Chai the super strong wolf-deer!!" He presented it to Ziv, now fully in his game of pretend. "Chai is the leader and says everyone needs to follow him to Mount Toolie (To'ul) to get the magic bird and save the Tree from evils!"

Eghad, nobody backed Chaim up on his statement. Or even reacted to it at all. Big Pikachu face moment.

Not wanting to be outdone and left out by the rest of the boys, he about tripped over his hooves standing up and moving over quickly, just in time to hear Khelek's bold proclamation that he was the leader.

Second Pikachu face moment.

Irit folded her ears down and practically bristled at the boys - well she didn't wanna play with them either!

She reached forward to take Nurit's wrist and stood up, barely giving her sister time to get the rest of her snackies in hand. "I'm gonna go play with Mammy you should come too." Not that she gave much choice, given hand placement.

Fable
Randir looked up at Ziv at his question. He was about to open his mouth to make a suggestion when Khelek spoke up instead. He tilted his head at his brother, his tail wagging excitedly, "Toolie!" he mimicked, smiling brightly at Ziv, "We gotta help!" he shoved a toy in his direction before holding up his own, "Must save from evil!"

He noticed Chaim coming their way and didn't skip a beat despite the snack debacle. He shoved another one at him too getting swept up in the magic of the moment. They all had to help!

Mene
Nurit barely had time to grab the edges of her napkin to bring her snack with her before Irit had hauled her toward the kitchen. "Slow downnnn," she whined, trying to get her hooves under her. She'd go with Irit, of course, but she couldn't help but notice that the boys' game looked fun. "Can't we go play with them?" she asked. "They're saving the Tree from evils!"

Ziv took the toy and, not to be outdone by Khelek, held it aloft and declared, "This is...uh...Biv! And he's super fast and has wings! So he's gonna fly to get the magic bird!"

Dai
Khelek's tail started wagging as Randir joined along, then pointed at a high space on some bookshelf that was out of reach for them. "There's Toolie!" (top of the bookshelf). "We hafta get to the top! And then we scare the bird and catch it and eat it and save the day!" Yummm, chicken. Delicious. "Come'on let's go!" He took exactly one step forward before pausing. Something wasn't quite right....

Noticing they still needed a someone to play the big bad magic bird, he yelled loudly at the kitchen (and therefore the girls). "HEY! COME PLAY THE MAGIC BIRD SO WE CAN BEAT YOU AND SAVE THE DAY!!"

Chaim took his toy and looked at it - a floofy sheep - and pouted slightly as the others thought up cool powers for theirs. His had to have a cool power too! "UHHH. THIS IS UH... BAYEEM. And.... uh... He doesn't need wings to fly! And he goes super fast and doesn't get tired so he's gonna get the bird first!" Bet.

Irit was about to say something to Nurit, but grimaced at Khelek's demand before yelling back, "I DON'T WANNA BE THE BAD GUY."

Fable
Randir looked at what was left on the floor for the game and frowned slightly. What even was it? A mouse? He picked it up and started to make squeaking noises as he thought about a big power-

His ears flickered as he frowned deeply, “B-but if there is no bad guy… how we gonna keep playing!?” He called back, just not as loud. “What do you wanna be then!?”

Mene
Nurit looked back and forth between Irit and the boys. "Irit I wanna playyyy," she whined. "We could be, um, damsels in distress!" she suggested, nodding encouragingly. She didn't know what "damsels" or "distress" meant, but she knew it meant you had to save them. She looked at Randir and Khelek. "You gotta save us too!"

Ziv high-fived Chaim, then saw an opportunity to cause chaos. "HA! I'LL be the bad guy!" He ran over and grabbed Irit's hand, dragging both his sisters back to the group. He pointed to the couch. "Uh, sit there I guess." Then he jumped up on the arm, brandishing his toy. "HAHAHA YOU'LL NEVER GET THEM NOW!"

Dai
Irit didn't even have time to open her mouth in protest before her brother was dragging her to the couch, where she sat with a "hmmmph!" And a pouty crossing of her arms.

"Oh no I've been captured save me," she said without an ounce of enthusiasm.

Secretly she did want to play along, but now she was just being stubborn. Looks like she's a daddy's girl after all.

Khelek gasped and looked between the bookshelf (where he'd said mount Toolie was) and the couch.

Oh, was the game changing? But he'd had such a good idea.

Chaim's high five back to his brother was a classic combo-move on nonsensical hand motions, but (mostly) in-sync.

He held out the toy and made his voice a bit sillier as he played the character. "Oh no! They have the uh..." A pause. "...the girls!" He wasn't about to call his sisters princesses. He pointed the toy at Randir. "Mouse man! Quick! We hafta save them!!"

Fable
Randir looked relieved that the game hadn’t been messed up. He nodded enthusiastically towards Chaim before waving his toy towards the girls, “Do not fear!” He spoke heroically “We will save you!” He pointed dramatically at Ziv, “You WILL meet your end!” What it meant, he had no idea.

He then looked around the room for something to help them. He scurried about before coming back, “I got crumbs, string, and a button. What about you guys?”

Mene
Nurit giggled, delighted to be now both part of the game and the object of more attention. "Oh nooooo!" she wailed dramatically, kicking her hooves and flailing her arms. "Save usssss! This bad guy is so mean and he stiiiiiinks!" She held her nose for effect.

Ziv cackled. "Yeah and I'm gonna fart all over everything!!" Alright, this was much more fun than being the hero. Returning his attention to the other boys, he crossed his arms defiantly. "You'll never get past me!"

Dai
Irit grimaced at Ziv's 'threat' and used that to inform what she said next, still with a deadpan voice and expression. "He's also a lazy and dumb good-for-nothing though. That's why he became bad..." Oh look, Ziv had a backstory now.

Chaim confidently walked over to Ziv (ignored Randir - rude), his chest puffed out and arms crossed in turn, as he locked eyes and raised his voice. "You'll never stop me!" Wait, wasn't this a team effort? "The hero always wins!!" Since when was he the hero?

No matter.

Swiftly, Chaim uncrossed his arms and twisted his body to nail Ziv with an actually pretty well-done cross punch to the side of his cheek. His father (you know which one) would have been proud.

Mene
From the kitchen, Tirzah put her teacup down and watched the scene with a closer eye. The boys roughhoused often, but she did want to make sure it didn't get out of control, especially with so many other children around. But, at least for now, she didn't intervene--to her, this was a normal part of their play, and unless and until someone got actually hurt, or someone stepped over the line, she'd stay out of it and let the children sort themselves out.

Ziv yowled as he was struck, though it wasn't entirely unexpected. Chaim pretty much always punched the same way. But it'd still knocked him off his perch onto the main part of the couch where the girls were sitting. He rubbed his jaw. "Ow, barkbrain, that hurt!" However, he shook it off and stood up again, unwilling to back out of the game. "You put up a good fight, hero, but evil will always prevail! Prepare to be defeated!!" Ziv jumped off the couch onto his brother, tackling him to the ground.

Nurit shrieked and dodged out of the way when Ziv came crashing into the couch. Initially she was delighted that they were fighting over them, the princesses, for reals. But that would soon give way to boredom.

Dai
Chaim did a slight shuffle on his hooves before looking down at Ziv with a smug, s**t-eating smirk when his brother started to get up... Only to be promptly tackled in a way that would make a luchador shed a single tear in pride. While Chaim was able to keep his head from smacking the floor, the impact was enough to leave him momentarily breathless. His toy that had quickly lost all premise of being a character in a story was flung away.

Still, Chaim wasn't anything if not resilient. He grabbed onto Ziv's arms, just above the elbow, and used momentum and a twisting motion to reverse the situation.

Once on top, he straddled his brother's torso between his legs and put his full weight (or, well, most of it, considering his hands hadn't let go of his arms) onto sitting on top his belly. "Bwahaha! Is that all you got villain? I thought you'd be more of a challenge!"

Having recovered from the shock of Ziv falling on the couch, Irit rolled her eyes and sighed before flopping over and leaning her head against her sister.

"Boys are dumb."

Fable
Randir looked on with a look of awe and shock at the other boys. He was frozen in place unsure what to do now. Sure, play fighting wasn’t anything new to him, but the way it escalated-

Suddenly a look came over his face like he had gotten an idea. Quietly he snuck over to the girls and peeked over the couch, ears twitching. In a not very quiet whisper he said, “Hi. Wanna be rescued?” And held out a hand to them both to help them off. “Shhh don’t let the others know, but we could totally run away together.” His tail started to wag excitedly at his good idea.

Mene
Nurit sighed long-sufferingly, now that the game (and by extension herself) had all but been forgotten by the boys. "So dumb," she said, grumpily crossing her arms. Ziv and Chaim could keep up the fight forever.

Ziv flailed for only a minute before figuring out his next move. Using the flexibility unique to children, he got one leg up and around Chaim and pushed him backwards, at least enough to free up his arms, which he then also used to shove Chaim's shoulders forcefully. He'd completely forgotten the game at this point, instead focusing on this fight, which was much more fun anyway.

"Ziv, Chaim, you still playing and not hurting?" inquired Tirzah casually.

"Yes, mama!" called Ziv without breaking focus.

Nurit's eyebrows went up at Randir, then she giggled and clapped her hands. The game was back! "Yay, a hero!" she said quietly. "C'mon Irit!" She took Randir's hand and hopped down from the couch with a soft clop.

Dai
Chaim let out a surprised yelp of his own as he was taken by surprise (also hooves hurt!) and he let go to try and maintain his balance. It was too late though - that split-second lapse in focus was enough for Ziv to knock him once more onto his back.

"Mama I'm buuuuuusy!" Chaim whined as he tried to use pure, 'overwhelming' power to push Ziv off of him.

As the fighting escalated, Khelek's ears shot up and he brought his hands to his chest, an almost sparkling excitement evident in the way his pupils dilated, his tail wagged, and he panted. He bounced in place, little wings vibrating behind him as he tried to contain himself... And then with a "GWAWR!" he ultimately gave in by flinging himself on top of both of the boys and using his weight to join in the wrestling.

Chaim made a loud grunting as the sudden impact of Khelek's body weight forced the air out of his lungs.

Can't.... Breath....

Little tears touched the corners of his eyes as he more spastically tried to push the other two off of him.

Irit looked down at the struggling Chaim with a rather nasty smirk when Khelek joined in, muttering, "Serves you right for ruining the game..." Under her breath before turning her attention back to her sister and cousin with a nicer smile.

"Okay, cooooominggg~"

She took both of their hands into her own before softly jumping down from the couch and continuing wherever they were wandering to.

Fable
Randir looked beside himself to be called a hero. His ears were standing on end and his tail going mad, "Y-yeah!" he stuttered from all the excitement at what he took as a compliment. "Imma hero!" He clasped their hands tightly in order to help them down.

He did, however, pause for a second when his brother joined in. He gave off a soft whimper as he watched the boys wrestle, eyes flicking from them back to the girls. It almost hurt him. He wanted in on the fun, but... he had also been deemed a hero.

Finally he dragged them not so gently across the room to where Tirzah was sitting. He then ducked behind with them and in a not so quiet whisper, "We can hide here. I will protect you if they come for us." he then peeked around to watch the fight, ready to jump in any second. He saved them, right? So if no one followed it meant he could join now?

Mene
Ziv was originally thrilled that Khelek had joined the fray, though he was somewhat confused whose side he was on, but something made him pause. They might've just been kids, but Ziv had enough of his mother in him to recognize when something just wasn't right. This flailing wasn't part of the game. "Woah," he said, letting up off Chaim, and pushing Khelek to the side. "You okay?"

Nurit ducked down behind Randir, excited to be pretending again. Just then their "cover" (aka Tirzah) stood up and went into where the boys were wrestling.

"Chaim?" inquired Tirzah, stepping in to break up the fight and pick up Chaim. Artemis they were getting heavy! "Hey, give it a minute, alright?" she said, sitting on the sofa with him.

Dai
Dooop diddly do, off went Irit with her sister and cousin, all the way back to the kitchen. When her mom headed off not that long thereafter, she hopped up and stole her seat. Nice and comfy now.

Khelek was having the time of his life just being weight in the pile, far be it to be concerned about which 'side' he was on at this point. Tail a-wagging, paws a-kicking, wings a-fluttering.

What a great, fun time!

He gave a yelp and then a grunt as his cousin pushed him off and he fell over on his side. By the time he was sitting back up, Auntie was already breaking everything up.

Chaim inhaled sharply as the weight on him released, followed by a small fit of coughing. He laid on his back as it passed, then strived to be true dead weight as him mom picked him up.

Rather than thank her for her concern, he chose the macho-manly route of huffing, pouting, and whining. "Moooooooom why'd you hafta ruin it didn't you see I was about to win??"

Fable
Randir looked defeated at first when it seemed the game was over... He hadn't even gotten a chance to join in! That was until Irit got a good idea... He tugged on her leg gently to get her attention, a small mischievous smile curling up his lips, "Is there snacks?" he asked her. Maybe Tirzah hadn't put everything away...

Mene
"I surely did," responded Tirzah, in a tone that suggested that maybe she might just be placating him. "Buuuuut it's still my job to make sure you're safe. I'm going to get you some water, I want you to sit here and be still for....three minutes." She turned her attention to Ziv and Khelek. "You boys can continue your game over there," she said, motioning away from the sofa.

Tirzah went to the kitchenette and got a cup of water for Chaim, pretending not to notice Randir and the girls getting into the snack leftovers. If they were hungry, they were hungry, and they weren't making a mess or mischief, so she wasn't going to interrupt.

After a while, Chaim got to rejoin the game, which at this point had mostly spun out into wrestling. Randir joined in as well once he and the girls had polished off the last of the nuts. The girls eventually joined Feredir with the soft toys and had a more collaborative game. And after an exciting afternoon of play, Ranuin came to pick up his boys, Tirzah joked that it would be his turn next time, and after they were gone she flopped on the sofa. Bedtime was definitely going to be Rho or Mena's job tonight.
