User ImageMeanwhile, Sam was in her flower garden, checking on her multitudes of roses for any damage that may have occurred while she slept. She had been breeding them for years, working on new colors, stronger variants, roses with different scents. These flowers were Sam's life, and if anything had happened to them, she'd probably be driven to insanity.

However, the theatrics and dramatics would not occur, for her roses were as perfect as the day she fell asleep. Sam smiled as she sniffed one of her honey smelling roses.

User ImageUser Image"Perfect, Cooper." Pumpkin hissed from her hiding spot. The brown bat had led her an Meanae to this rose field where a red Meanki was sniffing the flowers. The scents that Pumpkin picked up were odd. She could somehow smell jasmine, even though there were only roses ahead of her. The brown zamphir beside her shifted. She barely made a sound, and only Pumpkin could hear. The two locked eyes and Meanae nodded, her grin growing. The two slid from the bushes, sprawled on the ground to hide beneath the roses.

The two zamphirs got closer to the meanki, moving with slow deliberate moves.

User ImageSam's ear twitched and she suddenly perked up. She thought she had heard something, but after a second, Sam shook her head. It was probably the wind. She twitched her nose to sniff at one of her unaltered roses, and froze again. There were two strange scents closing in on her. Sam immediately dropped down below the rose cover. She knew this rose field better than anyone. And she also knew about her unground bunker where she kept her equipment. If she could just get there to lock herself in...

User ImageUser ImageMeanae cursed in her mind. Of course a fae who takes care of flowers could smell the intruders. But it only made the hunt more fun. Pumpkin did say she wanted a challenge. She locked eyes with the orange zamphir and motioned with her head for Pumpkin to go to the left. Meanae took off to the right. She sniffed, but the confusing scents from the flowers around her prevented her from locating the red fae. She popped her head up above the rose cover and saw roses moving. Meanae giggled softly and took off. The red fae didn't know how to move without disrupting her surroundings. She wasn't trying for secrecy. She was just rushing. Meanae sunk down again and started moving more swiftly towards the trail the red fae was starting to leave. Meanae heard Pumpkin closing in, though it was a very soft sound of the padding of her paws.

User ImageSam could smell them getting closer. There were two large fae, and two smaller creatures with them. But Sam was grinning. She knew that she'd make it to her gardening bunker before they could get her. She suddenly changed course, smelling one of them lunge closer to her. Sam jumped over a small hill where she was trying to grow a large rose. She then suddenly changed course again, hoping to confuse her pursuers. She was closing in on her bunker.

Sam added speed to her run, using all four paws to propel her faster, her claws digging into the ground to give her traction. Her bunker was in sight. Sam slid into the bunker, slammed the door shut, and threw the deadbolt.

"What the hell?" She finally gasped, her chest tight as her body craved oxygen. She heard laughing outside the door, and the laughter started to fade. "Damn crazy faes." She muttered, realizing they weren't going to hurt her. Their fun was the chase.

User Image"Thank you so much for the meal, Kirara." Dark said, hugging his faerabbit friend. They were standing at the door to their warren, Dark finally announcing he had to return home to his mother.

User Image"Here, let me go with you, Dark. Kai promised me some fabric that she found. Granted, that was before we all fell asleep, but I should think it's still good." Bella said, wrapping her arm in Dark's. "Everything else seems to be just as we left it. Other than a bit of dust. Nothing decayed or anything." She started pulling Dark with her as she chatted.

User Image"Thank you for accompanying me, Bella. It's been such a great evening, I'd hate for it to end so soon!" Dark said, bringing his free paw to rest on top of Bella's. He enjoyed Bella's presence. Though she was much younger than him, she had such a fascinating personality where she'd talk about everything and nothing, and yet make it sound like the most interesting topic in the world. She was currently explaining to Dark about a sewing project she wanted to take on, but couldn't find the perfect fabric for.

User Image"Oh! We're already here!" Bella said, surprise in her voice and eyes as she saw Dark's cabin. "Time passed so quickly!" She was almost disappointed. She rarely got time alone with anyone, always surrounded by her rather large family. She loved her family, of course, with all her heart, but they were always there. "I suppose we ought to head inside. I do need to ask your mother about that fabric."

User ImageDark could see the disappointment in Bella's eyes. He wondered why she looked a little sad at having arrived at his house. "Of course, let us go inside. Mom might be exhausted from all her cleaning and swimming." He chuckled and wrapped Bella's paw in his own. He watched her from the corner of his eye as they stepped up to the door. She seemed to have bounced back from the momentary sadness, and was back to chatting about how excited she was for the fabric. Dark had to smile at her enthusiasm.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show."There you are Dark!" Kai said from her rocking chair, a book open on her lap. "I was wondering where you got to!" She laughed, her voice light and tinkling. "Of course, I figured Chibiko and Kirara invited you to dinner. How is everyone?" Kai stood up, setting her book on a side table. That's when she noticed Bella on Dark's arm. "Bella, dear!" Kai threw her arms wide and pulled the fox into a tight hug. "It has been too long! Of course you're here for the fabric." Kai hadn't let them get a word in as she released the silver haired fox and turned to a closet.

User ImageDark had to laugh at Bella's surprised expression. "As talkative as ever. She loves guests." Dark released Bella's paw and followed after Kai to help her pull out the bolt of fabric Bella had come to retrieve. Kai allowed him to carry the bolt himself back to the fox. "This is the one you came for?" Dark asked, holding up the dark colored fabric.

User Image"It's perfect!" Bella gasped, holding up part of the fabric, revealing the iridescent threads woven into the dark blue cloth. The fabric shimmered in the candlelight, and Bella's silver eyes lit up as thoughts of projects floated through her head. She continue to paw at the fabric in Dark's arms, her head lost in the clouds, before Kai gave a short cough, bringing Bella back to reality. "Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry." She giggled as she took the bolt of fabric in her arms. "I really ought to be off. Thank you so much, Kai!" She bounded towards the door, much like her mother.

"But she did escort you here. And if you take her home, then Chibiko will insist someone bring you back." Kai started laughing. "What a conundrum! When would the cycle end?"

User Image"It is a vicious cycle, mother." Dark chuckled. "Bella will be fine on her own. And, like you said, Chibiko and Kirara would refuse to let me return home without someone escorting me." Dark stretched his arms above his head. "I'll call on them tomorrow to make sure Bella got home okay. I'm sure she'll be home in no time and working on a new project." Dark watched as Bella disappeared through the trees, the moonlight glinting off her silver hair.
