Turok had been patrolling the little area he and Bermuda called home, well.... the area where SHE lived, that he decided felt the most like home to him, when the sky began to get ..... weird, not only that but he realised that many of the sounds of nature around him, were silent. The absence of sound made him feel strange in a way he didn't like. Quickly he made his way back to where he had last seen Bermuda, he didn't like to intrude on her too much, given her past, he was patient and gentle, he loved her with a passion but he had to take his time, she had taken so long to trust him, to trust in his feelings for her, the last thing he wanted to do was spook her. By the time he got to her, or where she last had been, the sky was darker, almost night-like .. but not quite, it was a very different kind of darkness.

Change does not always come easily. For some, it is as slow as an oyster, that gradually turns a painful grain of sand, into an innocent white pearl. The transformation can occur in as little as six months! Within two seasons, the change happens. Even this, can be a long time for a soquili to go through a change, but the time goes by faster than you think. Then for others, the change of turning dirt into something polished, takes several years. Uncountable seasons pass by, as you wait for change. Or for those like Bermuda Triangle, you didn't expect change. You didn't want change even. When it started to take that abrasive thorn in your life, and turn it into something better, it felt unnatural to her. Suffering is what she had come to know. It's a pain she felt belonged. Without it, she feared she'd lose sight of the past. Turmoil, the only way to preserve that which she lost.

Every time the tide came in carrying Bermuda in its arms, bidding her to return to shore, she would deny its release. With a soul as heavy as an iron weight, she dragged herself back into the waters, drowning her sorrows in the undertow. Teetering between being alive, and not wanting to exist. Death is not enough, lest it release her from the memories she held. Instead, not ever existing, the only solution she saw fit. Then the tragedies that haunted her life, would of never come to fruition. She wouldn't of been the cause of someone else's sufferings...

Some tried to help her. They'd see her throw her body into the waves, and call out. But she didn't see them. Didn't hear their pleas to help her. Her mind, body, and soul, numb to all other senses beside the lulling noise of the shore.

In and out. She'd forever let herself drift with the tide. If she found herself on the shore, she'd lament about the nightmares that haunt her, and throw herself back into the deep.

A strong willed stallion came and broke her rhythmic self torture. What he saw, only he could describe. How he broke her trance? Dedication and the stubborn refusal to give up on her. By some grace of the spirits, he eventually got through to her, and stopped the process of Berumuda's self torture.

No longer are Bermuda's days spent being dragged by the oceans movements, lifeless. Somehow, he got through to her, but all of that is like static to her. Still unsure of where she belonged. Now, she stands looking out to the sea. Passing days feeling like an imposter to her change. Sometimes listlessly listening for the call to return to the waters, though it didn't come. The gentle lull of Turok's heart, opening her to things she hadn't felt in years. As her ears heard another's voice for the first time in a long while, she resisted, not wanting to forget the voices she couldn't hear any longer.

She cried. Many times. Yet there he stood,

When the darkness came, Bermuda's sight didn't even process it right away. Zoned out, there she stood, staring at the sea. Standing at the edge, both physically, and by some measure, mentally.

Ever since Turok had 'rescued' Bermuda from drifting (and scaring off an inquisitive shark) He'd not been able to get the mare out of his head, something about her, the way she was so withdrawn, so .. broken, made him want to be there for her, to be her anchor so to speak. He didn't understand much of what she went through or how she felt at any given moment but he refused to ever be a reason she sunk further into her despair. He'd been gentle, caring and most importantly, PRESENT in her life since they'd met. He was the island in her stormy sea of emotion, or he tried to be anyway, When she took herself to drift, he was more often than not by her side, never forcing any interactions. In fact in the earliest days, they could just stand for hours on end, staring out to sea, Turok only taking a break to fetch food and encourage her to eat. Attentive even when the mare was blind and deaf to his very presence, slowly, so slowly, she'd begun to be more... aware, more present in the moments, he'd stayed by her through the times she would just stand and cry, he comforted her, hopefully bringing her the calm she needed.

He'd reached the place he last left Bermuda and started to panic a little, she wasn't there, it took him a few breaths before he turned towards the sea and saw in the dark, a figure facing out to the waves. Quickly he made his way over, slowing as he got near "Bermuda?" he called, so his presence behind her wouldn't scare her as he got close. "Bermuda, come back to the cave, it's cold and . strange out here today" he said, moving to stand beside her, so close they were almost touching, his wing gently moving to drape over her back, cautious not to frighten her. "Tell me how i can help" he muttered, aware she was in a more delicate state of mind right now, his own skin twitching with nervousness, both for Bermuda's safety and because it was SO strange with the shadow over the sun like it was.

As darkness started to take hold of the suns life-giving light, Bermuda felt something crawl over her. The sensation that had built up ever since she stopped floating helplessly in the ocean, drifting, wandering, lost for what she wanted to be eternally. The feeling that she didn't belong. As Turok approached and spoke to her, she heard him, but didn't. Her gaze snapped to the sky, entranced by the darkness that threatened to snuff out the light.

Fear.

The unknown phenomenon that loomed above didn't cause her to be afraid of what was happening. Instead, she felt like a deceiver. She had betrayed her by daring to feel the warmth of the sun. Now darkness had come for her, reminding her of everything in her past. Snuffing out the light in her life.

Panic.

A few hooves splashed into the frothy waves of the ocean. As Bermuda is about to bolt into the sea, throwing herself at her bidding call once again, a voice breaks into her ear. A ringing sound. No, a familiar sound. One that too contained warmth, that tried to warm her from the inside.

Confusion.

The sun above continued to darken, as a shadow dotted over it's glowing energy. The light of the sun, growing red and casting an eerie hue on the land below, neither all dark, nor having light.

Bermuda stared at Turok. Part of her felt that she couldn't trust anyone again, especially herself. Yet at the end of it all, wounds had begun to harden. Then would likely never heal. She exhaled, and her chest shook. That intense moment had broke into a frail glimmer of something other than the suffering she about turned back to.

With a quiet voice, she replied to his comment about the cave. As if that's all she had heard out of everything he might have said. "Oohh...okay." she said with a shaky whisper. Turning towards the cave, and putting the dark sun behind her. Much like she put the pull of her past behind her. She moved blindlessly to the cave, knowing the way, even in the dark of the day-night.

Calm.

The whirl of emotions that Bermuda had felt during the solar eclipse left her exhausted, shaken, but somehow at ease with Turok walking with her.

Turok stood still as Bermuda warred within her mind, her beacon so to speak, in the currents and waves of her feelings inside herself. It was difficult for the stallion, that enjoyed a good battle, to stay so quiet and still but for her, he would fight himself, for her he would dive into the deepest parts of the ocean to bring her back, he would not abandon her, ever. The only time he would ever consider it, would be to go and murder the one who had so broken something inside Bermuda that she felt worthless, to him, despite her melancholy, Bermuda was a light in the dark, he needed her, probably as much as she needed him.

He let out a breath he hadn't realised he was holding when Bermuda replied to him about the cave, he was glad, it was warm, safe and dry, lit either by the fires he made or by the glowing algae on the walls, it was warm even in winter for some reason, probably some lava flow somewhere or hot springs he guessed, he didn't know, but it was nice to dry off and warm up inside, plus, since meeting Bermuda, he'd collected nice bedding, animal furs and all sorts of trinkets and treasures to decorate the space. "Let's go home Berm" he breathed as he walked by her side, his wing a gentle pressure on her back, letting her know he was there, but light enough that she could move away from it if she wanted, it was a gentle reassurance rather than a clinging embrace.
