The misfit had decided to go on a walk through the woods. She always felt best under a canopy of trees with dirt between her toes and the smell of earth and trees and growth all around her. She listened to all of the life around her, all of the fauna preparing for winter as it approaches. The wind had a slight chill to it but Fauna found it refreshing. It was a little cloudy, but that's how she preferred it. She loved cloudy days and cooler temperatures. It was even darker once she passed beneath the trees and it seemed almost like entering another world. She smiled to herself and started walking along an animal path casually, taking in the sights, stopping to examine a plant or to crouch down and watch an animal wandering nearby.

The animal path lead her down towards the river as she expected and when she reached it she found that it was low enough to cross safely so she dipped her feet into the icy water. She winced and laugh-screamed as she tried to get across the river as fast as possible, though once she made it to the other side she reflected that the running and flailing about in haste probably got her more wet than had she simply walked calmly across. She rolled her eyes at herself and tried to shake herself dry.

The day was young and she wanted to continue on, but first she wanted to warm up after being doused in the cold water of the river. So she gathered up some firewood and started a fire going. She leaned against a large rock once the fire was going pretty well and curled up for warmth while waiting for the fire to do its work.
