In Hemlock there was a kat who was not as she seemed. However, her presence or absence from where she was hardly mattered. Marionette swung casually from a swing rigged up out of her ribbons, each consecutive swing bringing her higher up into the tree above. Then, when she had almost swung over the branch the ribbons were tied to, she eased back off again, gliding effortlessly back down until her feet nearly touched the ground. It was in this manner that the Toreador often found a quick bite, and tonight might prove to be no exception.

Humming to herself, she gazed up at the stars, not paying complete attention to her surroundings. It was a rare thing indeed that could sneak up on a vampire, even one as relatively innocuous as Marionette. The night was cool and crisp. Inviting, in a way that daylight could not be. Although she was not paying the utmost attention, she could smell someone nearby... but because they didn't smell like a threat, she didn't consciously take note of them.

Perhaps it was silly of Xanon to traverse around Hemlock, where all of the worst of Faetasia's little beasties seemed to dwell. He was a baddie himself, of course, though he was not so violent or malevolent as many others he had encountered. He was somewhere within the realm of bad, but not bad, if that made any sense.

And yet this is where he felt the most at home, especially at night, when his pure white fur practically glowed in the moonlight. He liked to spend his time in the forest, a place that was assuredly dangerous, but he liked danger. It was...attractive, to him.

So this is how he found himself lying in the branches of a tree, bathed in moonlight, leaning back against the trunk, and one foot swinging idly at the branches side, pale blue eyes glittering with the stars they drank in from above. This is how he found himself, suddenly sharing said tree with another, though he somehow hadn't noticed her at first, as though she had just appeared silently, like a ghost.

It wasn't until she was swinging, the movement caught out of the corner of his eye, did he see her, and his head swiveled to the side, looking down, attention caught rapt by the sight down below. Bright colors muted by darkness. Ribbons whispering in the breeze. Something so curious as to be almost enchanting.

He shifted on his branch, quietly. He was fairly good at moving silently. He moved down a branch, and then another, closer and closer still. He eventually sat, nearly close enough to touch one of the ribbons tied to a branch just below his. Quietly, he slid himself down, backward over the branch, holding onto it suspended by the crooks of his knees, hanging upside down, a hand reaching, reaching for that ribbon, and grabbing ahold of it and attempting to pull it free.

It was, perhaps, unfortunate for the stranger that Marionette's instincts were that of a predator. Her reflexes were sharpened, honed into something akin to a weapon. Thus is was that when Xanon began to work the ribbon untied, Marionette shifted her weight to the other ribbon and pulled with all her might, sending him swinging down to her. She regarded him, a single brow raised in eloquent inquiry. "What's this?" she said, pulling him up to her level. What an interesting fellow he was... trying to untie her ribbon. His reasons remained a mystery, but she could guess that they might be mischievous.

Or perhaps... less pleasant even than that. Her lips curving in a smile, the vampire observed the now dangling fellow. "Is it a habit of yours, falling out of trees?" she asked, absently twining the ribbon around his wrist. It wasn't exactly intentional so much as it was instinct... but it was happening, either way. My, but he was an interesting sight. Nearly pure white, with black hair and bright red ribbons of his own. Had he wanted this one for his collection?

Hm. Yep. Well...this was a predicament.

Xanon blinked in surprise and let out a startled sound when he felt himself suddenly pulled from his perch, his hand wrapped tight around the ribbon that was the only thing saving him from falling to the ground below. He cast his icy blue eyes upwards and lifted his other hand to grab onto the ribbon as well, wondering if he should try to climb it back up or if he'd be better off at this point just to let himself drop the rest of the way down to the forest floor.

His choice was made for him when he was pulled up by the pink, ribbon-clad woman he had been watching from above.

"Uh, hi to you too." He raised an eyebrow when she began wrapping the ribbon around his wrist. Why was she doing that? Something seemed a bit off here, but he wasn't sure what.

"I mean, no, not usually? Is it your habit to try and kill guys you've just met?"

It was meant to be a joke; his lips even quirked up into a half-smirk when he said it.

"Yes," Marionette said with a smile. "But I'm not trying to kill you." There was something about the way she said it that suggested that she, too, was joking. "I'm much better with ribbons than that." Ah, true mastery of ribbon play was an art, and one that Marionette excelled at. In truth, she was a silk dancer, and could have shown him a thing or two about balancing in trees, if she'd wanted to. Right now, she wanted to know why he'd begun untying her ribbons.

Ribbons that had apparently been keeping her up in the tree. "You could have hurt me, you know. If you untied the wrong ribbon." Although it would have been like a bee sting, at worst. Nothing serious, but not altogether fun. She was much stronger and more durable than she looked. But who was he? There was something... interesting about him. Something about his monochromatic look, his attitude.
