In order to expand diversity in Faetasia, and begin to include more variety in partnerships and sexuality, the Staff at Faetasia have decided to allow Kats to form Poly Mated Groups!
This means your Kats can choose to be mated to more than one Kat at a time, together. All the Kats will be mated to one another (The dynamic cannot be one Kat with two mates and those two mates are not then mated to each other. Everyone would be mated to everyone in the group. We aren't doing the whole 'one guys with twenty wives' thing.)
EVERYONE in the relationship must consent and be ok with the group dynamic/Kats/Owners involved or the group cannot happen.
The partnerships should be formed because all the Kats involved love one another and want to share commitment together. They follow all mating rules aside from the fact that instead of only two Kats sharing love and magic the group shares their magic and love together.
If your Kat finds themselves in a poly relationship that was fine at first but eventually becomes no longer comfortable, owners have the right to REMOVE their Kat from the poly relationship.
Please do not use this as a tool to abuse the special breeding magic of Poly relationships.

By consenting to lend your Kats magic to the 'Poly Magic' mechanic during a mated poly-group breeding, you're agreeing to have your kat give marking/color/and possibly accessory edits but understand that you will not be getting an egg from said breeding.
The two Kats that actually have the eggs using Breeding Magic will be the genetic parents and will then be subject to the cooldown rule. (They will also be the only names on the cert to keep the family line clear and to avoid breeding issues down the line)
The partners who only lent Poly Magic will not be on cooldown.

Why are the babies only technically genetically related to two of the Kats?
This is to keep accidental bloodline crossover from happening in the future. The more parents a Kat shares, the harder it will be to keep family lines from blending together down the road as a result of flings and such.
Example: Children of Poly Kats may choose not to be Poly themselves or choose not to be in any relationship period and just fling. If they fling this is where it could get messy and lead to accidental flinging with distant relatives as their family tree would be massive and hard to track with 3+ parents.
Why can't mated Kats be in open relationships yet?
This opens the door for a lot of issues that we are not ready to navigate quite yet. While it may someday become a thing, Mated Kats are still expected to stay loyal to their partners. Love and magic in Faetasia have always been a strong force. We want to keep that spirit going.
What if my Kats are in a relationship with multiple other Kats but don't want to be mates? Can they use Poly Magic?
They cannot use Poly Magic unfortunately. The magic is only available to mated Poly Groups. The pair making eggs can, however, use Throwbacks!
How do you form a Poly Group?
If your Kat, and your partners Kat, want to form a Poly group you MUST first bring any potential mates to your current partner first and discuss the dynamics and plots BEFORE you approach the new Kats owner.
This will keep people from plotting with other owners first and possibly forcing their current partner into a situation they don't like or don't want. Thus neglecting the rule of consent. Have respect for the owner of your Kats mate and talk to them first. That way you can move forward knowing what's ok and what's not. It may also be best to have everyone chat together instead of a one-on-one.
You can also form Poly groups with just one other owner, or yourself, if that seems easier and less stressful. We want everyone to feel comfortable and to know that they do not have to join any poly group if they don't want to. No means no. Please respect the boundaries of other owners.
Are there any Races that can't be Poly?
There are some Races in Faetasia that are strictly monogamous. Please make sure the race of your Kat does not prevent them from joining a Poly Group.
