Xiang always finds a way to have fun. Life is too short to brood or get hung up over all the negative things in life. Even boring tasks can be made fun with a little help.

Xiang has always cultivated good sleeping and eating habits that kind of naturally gave them good energy that they could channel into everything they did. Even when everything seems fruitless, they find just being outside, looking to the sky, helps rejuvenate them.

Friends are a treasure in this world, and one that Xiang would like to keep. They're the best for secret keeping, and will always go out of their way to make their friends happy.

Liu Xiang’s mothers met under strange and dangerous circumstances. Yazhu was a North Korean refugee who fled to Shenyang, China, with her father, Seong-Hun– the only survivors of a perilous journey. They were rescued by Liu Hyun-Joo, a police officer stationed in Shenyang at the time. Hyun-Joo was one of the few women police officers, and a woman of such irreproachable moral and legal character that her word and compassion alone secured Yazhu and Seong-Hun a life. Yazhu and Hyun-Joo’s relationship came later, but even then their relationship was never questioned.

The three- who could barely be called a family at the time– never wanted financially, partially due to Seong-Hun’s magic, which he passed off as “frugality and old wisdom”. Liu Xiang was born into this environment. They were raised with two lessons firmly engrained in them: 1) A dependable reputation was built only on years and years of hard work and following rules and 2) A single act of compassion could change lives.

Xiang’s magic showed up when they were six, when Hyun-Joo was shot while in the line of duty. Without thinking, Xiang ran into the street to protect their mother. Behind the cover of the corner and barrier, they touched the wound and it sealed beneath their fingers. The entire thing was passed off as a lucky miss and a severe overreaction. Back at home, everything was explained and Seong-Hun began to train Xiang’s magical control. Seong-Hun was as stern as he was supportive. Even when others thought it was a “pity” that Xiang wasn’t male, or mentioned it was “too bad” that they just missed an award, Grandfather Seong-Hun was always supportive and encouraging. In turn, Xiang maintained a positive, energetic attitude, and sought to bring a little fun into everything.


xxx𝒮𝒸𝒽𝑜𝑜𝓁 𝒴𝑒𝒶𝓇𝓈xxx
Xiang’s first year at Long Jiang was a whirlwind of new things. They knew some fundamental tenets of magic from their grandfather, but there was so much to learn now that they were learning it full-time.
They joined just about every club they could and made a ton of new friends due to their resilience. They discovered they loved flying, and towards the end of the year was encouraged to participate in a few pick-up games of Quidditch.

Xiang tried out for the Huanglong Quidditch team, but found so many people trying out that there would have been enough for two teams and plenty of reserves. While most were disheartened and left within a few months, Xiang had their usual upbeat and attitude, and stuck around. They brought energy to every practice, always just happy to have extra flying time. They helped out where asked to, and often made up little games that doubled as aerial maneuverability training.

Xiang again tried out for Quidditch, and again was undeterred by being assigned a reserve spot. During an accident while practicing, their captain’s quick thinking saved helped mend a teammate and encouraged Xiang to aspire to be a team medic if they weren’t going to play.

Inspired by all their experiences, Xiang took on an ambitious elective workload.
They continued Quidditch as “team medic” and the title, while mostly a joking formality, earned them a modicum of respect from the younger students. Xiang was happy to take this respect and encourage the young students to keep coming to practice.
Xiang met and befriended Yangqiao, a second-year Changlong student who made the best dumpling noodle soup they had ever tasted and recruited her to the Future Healer’s club with them.

Keeping up with their elective course load and determined to make good marks–for the sake of properly learning the material rather than for the marks themselves–tested Xiang’s energy and patience to the extreme. During the Chinese New Year break, they broke down and cried to Grandfather Seong-Hun about the workload and pressure. Grandfather Seong-Hun took them for a walk and gave them an unforgettable talk– reminding them why they had chosen each elective and assuring them that hard work was worthwhile. “No matter what, I am proud of you.”
They went back to school with renewed effort and kicked butt on their LOTUS exams

Their last years passed in a whirlwind of studies, quidditch, and friendships. Luckily, it all worked toward a satisfying conclusion. Xiang did great on exams and had lots of friends to keep.

After graduation, Xiang considered pursuing healing– perhaps as a mediwizard, but was recruited to the Chinese International Quidditch team by a former teammate. They joined as reserve beater and enjoyed the opportunity to travel while with the team. The only reason they stopped was after a serious injury, they were no longer able to play at the professional level. It took months of training and recovery before they were able to be back in the air. After recovery, they moved to the UK to start teaching at Hogwarts as their flying professor.
