User ImageIt felt like it had not been so long since she had made her way to Grendel's temple with her father. That visit had been tense, to say the least. The younger vampire had quickly realized that, while she was glad her father had come to the right decision, she really had no place at that meeting. It had been hard to not fidget and call attention to herself while the god and her father met and discussed the future. Now she made her way to another temple. Word had spread quickly of the new goddess Ennoia. She was meant to take care of the clanless, and since she had been all but banished from the Cemetery, she very much fit the description. Word on the island was that any of the clanless could make their way to the new temple and seek guidance or even refuge. Besides that, she had heard very little about Ennoia. Such was the way of the gods though. They made themselves known on their own terms. Still, this girl must be something special. Bennett knew that Grendel and his Disciple Ravnos had other children, but unless she was mistaken, they were vampires. Perhaps not normal, but vampires. She couldn't help but wonder what made Ennoia so special. Why had she been raised to godhood? She must be very special.

As she mused, the ground passed quickly under her feet. Before she knew it, she was upon the steps of the newly established temple. Oh! It was always a little intimidating to push open the door of a temple, especially one of a god she was not familiar with. Should she knock? Would it be rude if she just came in? They had just entered Grendel's temple, but Bennett had already been known to Grendel, and he had been expecting at least her father. This felt different. So she stood there, chewing her lip for a moment, counting her rosaries to sooth her anxious mind. Things had been different since she had been banished. It was strange. After all, she had spent her whole life yearning to be free from the dreary graveyards and dusty tombs. Now that she had that freedom, she felt very vulnerable out in the world. Even with Faustus. The Cappadocian clan hadn't been many in numbers, but they had been a steady group.

One, two, three... The vampire drew the rosary beads through her delicate claws. It was a nervous habit. Her mismatched eyes darted between the beads and the door. She had to make a decision. She couldn't just stand here on the doorstep all night. Taking an unnecessary breath, Bennet raised her free hand to the door and rapped her knuckles against it. One, two, three. They were delicate knocks, polite. If there was one thing that her father taught her, it was manners. While she may not have always used them with her father, Bennett was one to understand social graces and cues. There was a time and place for everything. Besides, she had her time with Faustus to be wild and care free. Now, she needed to be polite and respectful of whoever opened the temple door. Smoothing her clothes down and pulling her lip out of her teeth, she waited, trying not to bounce on her heels. She couldn't let her nerves show.

Someone was at the door.

For a long moment, Melpomene froze from where she had been sweeping a hallway, fur suddenly standing on end in surprise and fear. She glanced this way and that, as if willing another to show up and open the door, but the temple was essentially empty. Anyone who might still be in the great building was no where to be seen, and whether or not Ennoia was around well... she never questions where the great goddess went, or what she did with her time. This meant it was up to Melpomene to see what was outside...

.....not her favorite thing to do.

Ears flattening somewhat, the scarred vampiress hurriedly set her broom aside, and brushed off any dust on her dress. If she had to be sociable, she would at least make sure she looked somewhat presentable for Ennoia's sake. Hurriedly, she snuck through the shadows, until she made it to the large doors. Trying not to shake in her boots, the little white, black, and pink vampiress finally opened the door. She didn't open it fully, instead, taking a quick peak outside at Bennett before opening it more widly. She didn't know who or what was out there, so it was best to be safe than sorry....

But Bennett did not appear to be some terrifying threat. At least not enough of one to keep Melpomene from opening the door. Everyone might be welcome, but that didn't mean Melpomene didn't get anxious herself. Peeking up at the pale, dual-eyed stranger, letting her pink and black hair hide her more grisly and scarred features, Mel swallowed hard. ".... h-hello. Welcome to the great and venerable Temple of Ennoia. Might you .. come in?" She had been practicing what to say to those who needed encouragement, and though her little voice shook, she did her best to appear confident.

.... she didn't want to be the cause of bad service. Not when they came here for Ennoia. She'd walk out into the sun before she disgraced the goddess in any such way.

Opening the door wider, she half-hid behind it, hoping the stranger would come in. Then maybe she could run back into the shadows and stay out of the others way. She didn't want to be a pest, after all.

A golden eye framed in black and pink peeked through the door. For a moment, Bennett wondered if the door would be slammed in her face. Had she done something wrong already? But no, the door swung open, leaving space for her to come into the hall. She took a moment to take in the temple hall before her mismatched eyes landed on the pale vampriss before her. Was she scared? Of Bennett? Had she done something to intimidate the other girl? It wasn't her intention, but perhaps it was possible that she carried some of her father's air of authority, despite never wanting his responsibility.

Then the other vampire spoke in hesitant, halting phrase. And it clicked for Bennett. This girl was not afraid of her; she was just afraid. Clearly, she served the Goddess' temple, but pursing her lips, Bennett wondered who she was before she found the Goddess. Bennett wanted Ennoia's protection and support. This girl seemed like she had needed it. Glancing over the scars across her delicate, pale face, she quickly looked away, choosing instead to fix her already immaculate outfit as a distraction. It was rude to stare, after all. Maybe it was the new eggs she had waiting at home that were instilling a new protectiveness in Bennett, but she couldn't imagine what monster had harmed her. She seemed harmless, well, as harmless as a vampire could. Then again, some vampires were excellent at hiding their inner monsters.

"Ah, thank you." Her voice was soft as she stepped in enough to let the door close behind her. As it did, she took another look around the temple, wondering if the little pink haired vampire would go back to whatever she had been doing before Bennett had arrived. Or maybe she was the only one in the temple at the moment. It wasn't unusual for the Gods to be away from their temples. They had bigger things to do, after all. "I..."

Now that she was here, the words failed her. How did she even begin to put into words what she was doing here. Her entire life was changing. She had finally told her father she wanted nothing to do with the clan affairs. And now she and Faustus were going to be parents. How was she supposed to protect them all? Faustus was perfect. When he was all there. But there would be days he wouldn't be able to help protect their family. When Bennett would have to shoulder all the responsibility. Protect all four of them. And she would never change that. She loved him for all his quirks and the way his brain worked. Even when it took him far away from her at times.

Without realizing it, she had begun to chew her lip again, hands reaching for the rosaries. Shoot. That wouldn't do. Come on, Bennett. Get it together.

"I'm Bennett. I was hoping...well....I'm not quite sure what I was hoping."
