Bagheera
Werepanthers/Wereleopards
More info: http://whitewolf.wikia.com/wiki/Bagheera

The Bagheera claim that when Gaia was creating the Bastet, She hoped the Bagheera would be the lawgivers of catkind. This role never fully materialized, but traces of Gaia's intent linger still, filling them with a keen sense of justice and a spirit of righteous wrath that is terrible to behold.

They are renowned for their mystic insights and ferocious tempers. Bagheeras are a strong and sagacious folk, constantly plumbing the depths of Gaia's wisdom even as they fight savagely to rip the talons of Asura from the Earth. Until recently they have tended to their tasks in solitude, patiently stalking Gaia's foes and meeting only rarely to exchange information and share insights. Now, however, they have taken to working closely with other Changing Breeds, in hopes of bringing the raging multitude of humanity under control and saving their brethren and their Kin from utter annihilation. Like alle Bastet, they share a Yava.

The Bagheera are sleek and graceful Folk. While the majority of them have black fur in their cat-forms, some members have spots and yellow-brown fur instead. For some reasons, the black line runes truer in women than in men, while the yellow-leopard genes run stronger in the males. An exceedingly rare bloodline has the tricolor markings of the clouded leopard of southeast Asia; these markings favor neither sex - they're just plain rare. Bagheera heads (in cat-forms) tend to be flat and boxy; in human form, they often have strong cheekbones and prominent noses. A werepanther's eyes are said to be the wisest among catkind - even the youngest of them appears to be deep in contemplation.

Of all werecats, the Bagheera are perhaps the most attractive - they're choosey when picking their mates, and have very good genes on both sides. Many favor the arts and sciences, and enjoy high-tech toys or the performing arts. As would travellers, they dress however they please; some prefer the simple garments of Indian villagers, while others love ostentatious eastern designs or comfortable western fashions. Their choice of weapon and ornaments are likewise eclectic - if making gneralizations about werecats is hard, making them about Bagheera fashion choices is impossible.

Balam
Werejaguars
More Info: http://whitewolf.wikia.com/wiki/Balam

“Take your demon filth and get out of my home. Stay, and die.”

The Balam are mainly South and Central American werecats favor their ancient heritage, though some Amazon warriors adopt modern weapons to wipe their foes off the earth. The embodiments of wrath, Balam are temperamental, hardy and xenophobic. What they don't like the Balam attack, and they don't like much. The Khan may be the chosen warriors of Seline, but the Balam are by far the most aggressive of the Nine Tribes.

Like the Bagheera, Balam are born black or yellow. Black jaguars tend to be women, but both colors claim strong birthrights. Black cats command the powers of the Moon, whole their brighter siblings carry greater wrath in their hearts. As most Balam come from hardy South American stock. They favor Mayan Jewelry, Incan Body art and modifications (extended earlobes, body paint, flattened foreheads, pierced tongues, etc.), and archaic clothing. Nearly all of them have sharp-filed teeth, evein in Homid form. Few Balam are Caucasian - the Rotted Hearts have cause too much damage to forgive. Although many Balam use archaic weapons, modern firearms fascinate them, both for precision and for sheer destructive power.

Bastet presents Tribal weaknesses in the form of Yava for each of the nine Tribes.

*Demons feed the wrath of the Balam; send one against him, and he will range into madness;
*Burn the heart of the jaguar and you destroy its soul forever;
*Jaguar feathers hold great power. If you find one, burn it by the great cat's face. Once it is ashes, the Balam will die.

Bubasti
Werekyphur (Shadowcats)
More info: http://whitewolf.wikia.com/wiki/Bubasti

The mystics of catkind, the are a shy and secretive race. They are, however, among the most social of the Bastet, and they tend to work closely with one another in most of their endeavors. The Bubasti were cursed long ago by the ancient vampire deity Set, and as a result their lives are forever tied to the soils of Khem, their ancestral home. It is said that if all of the Bubasti of a given generation leave Egypt, that generation will be the last. None know the truth of this rumor, but none care to test it, either.

Khan
Weretigers
More info: http://whitewolf.wikia.com/wiki/Khan

These noble and honorable warriors encompass stunning examples of what Garou Philodox should be, and what their Ahroun should be. They see themselves as the bulwarks against the darkness, who are Gaia's most perfect creations and as such obliged to protect all who are lesser. While usually independent and unsocial as any werecat, many Khan are allied to the Beast Courts, seeing them as the best chance to save their dying race.

As regal warriors of their kind, Khan tend to be large, broad-shouldered, brawny individuals in all forms. Although males of all breeds are noticeably larger than female counterparts, both genders can be pretty impressive. While many Khan tend to be bad-tempered and aggressive, others love company of all kinds (and are powerful enough to demand respect). Weretigers bred with English men and women during the 1800s, largely out of respect for their ferocity. Thus, modern Khan are either white, Chinese or Indian.

An honorable folk, the Khan prefer to gather lore about forgotten cities, remote enclaves, bustling metropoloi, and the day-to-day life of the places they live in. As of recent they have also been seeking secrets that could save their kin (in truth such rites if learned could be a boon to all shapechangers).

Pumonca
Werecougars
More info: http://whitewolf.wikia.com/wiki/Pumonca

The tribe traces their roots to Mother Earth and Father Sky in all their many forms. Thunderbird, guardian of Purity, swept the tribe into being and he flies beside them wherever they go. All Pumonca, even though without official Jamak, revere the Thunderbird for his honor, wisdom and ferocity. His charge to defend the sacred land almost led to the tribe's extinction, but they follow that command gladly, even now.

At one time, the Pumonca shared their lands with many other tribes of Bastet, and many other Killi as well. Since the Wars of Rage, however, they have walked alone, and this has hurt the tribe considerably. Gaia never intended for the werecougars to function without the support of the other Bastet, and they are not terribly well equipped to go it alone. They managed to make do with the aid of America's other native shifters, but the near-genocide of the second War of Rage and humanity's war on predators effectively removed even that tenuous support. They joined forces with the western Garou in order to defeat the Storm-Eater, but many Pumonca had fallen either to the Wyrmcomers or to the awakened Banes. As a result, the Pumonca are bitter, confused, and angry, and most are looking for a way to serve Gaia that lets them keep their pride and dignity intact. The lucky ones forge ties with Garou of the Pure Tribes, or perhaps with Mokole or Gurahl, but most just wander aim-lessly, fighting the Banes of the Wyrm, however they can so long as no one wounds their pride too terribly.

The Pumonca spend their entire lives traveling from place to place, looking for signs of Wyrm taint in the spaces in-between. It is their task to meander, to take their time, and to notice the world around them. However, this is only restricted to America, because no Pumonca would ever leave his continent. Pumonca have a penchant for spreading stories and lore wherever they go. In the past, these were typically tales of great deeds, whether of Garou or Pumonca or anyone else who tickled their fancy that were shared at the camp fires with those who where interested. Nowadays, however, these stories are often bitter tales; the Second War of Rage has cut off the Pumonca from the rest of the Killi, and they have lost their focus as a result. This makes them quite difficult to work with, as they tend to be filled with bitterness and regret.

Qualmi
Werelynx
More info: http://whitewolf.wikia.com/wiki/Qualmi

Enigmatic masters of animals and disguise, the Qualmi cloak their secrets in misdirection. Riddles fascinate them, and few of their kind offer straight answers to any question. For anyone with a literal mind, dealing with them can be a fruitless and infuriating effort. However, most of their efforts are directed to make others think about what they do and remind them why Gaia created them in the first place, in a similar manner to the pranks of the Nuwisha, only more serious. Like all Bastet, the share a Yava.

Qualmi see beyond appearances, and they loath hypocrisy. Most can see right through deceptions, and punish liars with tricks of their own. These Bastet are slow to anger, and their rage takes a slower path than simple violence. Qualmi punish slights by setting magical traps and spirit lures. Gold prospectors in the 1800s often found themselves buried alive in shimmering dust, or were tricked into shooting each other by phantom voices and paranoid dreams. When forced to fight, a lynx explodes into a flurry of claws and teeth, then flees as soon as possible.

Simba
Werelions
More info: http://whitewolf.wikia.com/wiki/Simba

The Simba represent the best Gaia has to offer, in that they are regal, proud, and powerful beyond compare. However, they are also arrogant, domineering, and malicious, even under the best of circumstances.

The Simba aren't villains; they are magnificent lords, slayers of demons. They believe things are simply out of order. When the balance is restored, when the humans know their place and when cities become graveyards, the lions will be proven right. In the minds of the Simba, the demons of the modern age can be traced to the end of Impergium and the laxity of the Changing Breeds. And they intend to put things in the right order: if that requires bloodshed, so be it. Warfare is the sport of kings.

Swara
Werecheetahs
More info: http://whitewolf.wikia.com/wiki/Swara

Whatever its form or breed, a Swara is lean, slender and wiry. They dress for speed and comfort, not style, and tend to take daredevil chances for kicks. Each Swara receives a tribal tattoo from their mentor just before they "graduate" into the loner's world. These tattoos often appear in a fairly obvious place - on a bicep, a shoulderblade or the face, depending on the person's human culture. African or feline Swara often decorate the faces of their kits, while human European Swara prefer to mark a youngster on their arm or back rather than across their face. They sport very little jewelry - it gets in the way- but any adornment a Swara wars has some spiritual significance.

Swara tend to be long-limbed and lanky, with short hair and a nervous air about them. In Chatro form their fur occasionally has the striped king cheetah morph running through it, which is considered a sign of good luck. They can change into five forms: Homid, Sokto, Crinos, Chatro, and Feline. They function in most respects like their garou counterparts, and the difficulties associated with shifting forms for the Garou apply to the Bastet as well.

Rarer
Ceilican
Domestic Cats
More info: http://whitewolf.wikia.com/wiki/Ceilican

The Ceilican are a hidden tribe of Bastet. They originated in northern Europe, and have strong ties to the fae. They resemble oversized domestic cats in feline form.

Also called Ring Dancers, a fact that is driven through a Tekhmet's head during their fostering. There is no telling how many of the old secrets still work, and they're still in circulation. Of all the tribes, the Ceilican have adopted best to the modern world. Most of them favor sports, music, mass media and, frighteningly enough, psychology.

Passion intoxicates these Folk; anything that stirs up emotions draws them like ants to sugar, and they're not shy about whipping up a few frenzies now and then just to keep things interesting. Most Ceilican have a natural aptitude for technology, too; no other tribe is as comfortable with computers and mechanical devices as the ring dancers. Like all Bastet they share a Yava that was once exploited by the lords of Faerie to enslave them.

Rarer
Khara
WereSabertooths
More info: http://whitewolf.wikia.com/wiki/Khara

Despite their fearsome teeth, the weresabertooths were as much creatures of memory with strong ties to the Mokolé-mbembe as they were warriors. Their most ancient animal kin included species that bridged the gap between reptiles and mammals. Sabertooths were some of the first cats, and the Khara claimed to be the eldest of Cat’s children. The Khara were as inquisitive as any Bastet tribe, but their mandate extended beyond the finding of secrets to the remembering of secrets. Sadly for those who came after, the Khara refused to keep records of what they had learned, claiming that giving a secret physical form made it too vulnerable. They passed their secrets orally within the tribe from generation to generation, and when the last Khara died, the tribe’s secrets died with her. Their pride prevented them from passing on what they knew, believing to the last that they could save themselves

Khara had a certain gravity about them in all their forms. They weren’t clumsy or bulky, but they had powerful muscles and thick, durable frames. Their distinctive sabre teeth jutted from their jaws in their Crinos, Chatro, and Feline forms. Different lineages had different configurations of teeth, either one or two sets of long upper canines. Some had a set or two of long lower canines as well.

Rarer
Hellcats
Ceilicans corrupted by Black Spiral Dancers
More info: http://whitewolf.wikia.com/wiki/Hellcats

When the Black Spiral Dancers attacked the annual moot of the Ceilican Bastet in Scotland, they forced some of them in the Black Spiral Labyrinth in order to turn them to the Wyrm. Those who survived became the Hellcats, their usual genuine madness turned into self-destructing and mindless aggression. Awaiting the Apocalypse to honor their Dark Father, these tainted creatures bring with them their potent links to the illusionary gifts of the Fae and various Wyrm-fetishes they constructed with Bastet-like curiosity.

Rarer
Ajaba
Werehyenas
More info: http://whitewolf.wikia.com/wiki/Ajaba

The legends of the Ajaba say that they are the African counterparts of the Garou, created to be Gaia's warriors in a continent without wolves. However, in part due to the division of roles among their genders, the Ajaba have spent much of their history bickering amongst each other.

This led to conflict with the Bastet, and eventually war with the Simba, specifically those led by Black Tooth, who nearly succeeded in wiping out the Ajaba. Since their near destruction, the Ajaba have had to rebuild their society, and much about them has changed.

The most notable trait of the Ajaba is that they are strongly divided along gender lines: female Ajaba are warriors, with generally high Rage and lower Gnosis; males are mystics, with opposite tendencies. Some small number of Ajaba are born with inverted traits for their gender, and are seen as omens of great good or ill.
