CLEVER Likely too clever for her own good, Emily has honed a watchful eye knowing when to avoid her somewhat moody mother and how to keep her happy. Yet it is more than that she is good with puzzles and picking up the general information of what is only read once (even if it is in the dreaded English)
GREEN THUMB Emily had to endure lectures about getting dirty helping the gardeners (when she could sneak off) for years as she begged for a hydroponic garden at least (so she wouldn't get so dirty). Finally her father gave in and gifted her a hydroponic garden that was 6 foot long when she was 8. To her it was a more exciting gift than a pony (and she already got one of those when she was 3).
JUDGEMENTAL Her mother's poisonous words on how Emily and of course she was always better than others. They were better than Emily's father's "old" family. After all Brandon chose Laura and thus chose Emily. And of course her father ensured Emily got the best of everything. When you have everything money can buy what else do you do? You buy more and money just makes you better.
PLEASANT Even if Emily thought she was better than you, you'd never know it. In fact you would be quicker to think Emily thought she was less than you. She is quick to be agreeable and often molds her personality to please those around her. It is not that she does not have her own opinions, usually she does not consider them, all in order to avoid conflict. Conflict is one of her greatest fears and she has become quite good to put the face on that others want to see.
ATTENTION STARVED She would never be one to suggest her parents emotionally neglected her, though her mother began to ignore her quite a bit when she was no longer "pretty" (when her lovely golden locks turned pink). Her father would stop by to say hello or tuck her in when he was home and not on one of his grand adventures. Staff was always around the mansion. She had friends, lots of them, but at the end of the day she was the one taking care of others and making sure they were happy. Emily would laugh and smile with the best of them so no one thought the princess in the tower was missing anything at all.
FRIENDLY In many ways Emily's chameleon like ways to avoid conflict and make others happy and always listen makes her a really good friend to have. Perhaps you may suggest friendship is a two way street but Emily sees it as more something you can leverage for your social standing and thus be less likely a target for dislike. EARLY CHILDHOOD Once upon a time there was a poor but ambitious golden haired beauty with eyes like emeralds. She lived in the roughest part of London but at 13 she was scouted by a modeling agency while on a school trip to the British Museum. She thought this would be her chance but she was surrounded by other beautiful girls and women and as she reached 20 she realized fame was not for her. But if fame was not, why did fortune have to be denied to her as well? Seeing a job posting for an au pair in Wales she took it. Rich families had au pairs and she had a plan. A terrible plan but a plan. She was going to seize everything from the family with the hard to pronounce Welsh name. She studied Welsh to prepare her and she arrived looking like a simple angel. She mothered the children better than their own mother, she listened to Brandon Dyfodwg's (an old money businessman who spent more time flying planes and driving fancy cars than working) woes better than his wife ever could, she flirted ever so subtly and slowly edged her way into the family. And just like she hoped Morgan Dyfodwg demanded a divorce. Sure Morgan got the kids (good ridden), the house (who wanted a dusty old manor), and some of Brandon's money but the poor girl from London, Laura Stuart, very well could settle for the rest of what Brandon had and she could settle to be with Brandon to have it.

Brandon and Laura married only six months after the divorce was finalized and in Laura's opinion it couldn't have happened sooner. After a few years, Brandon felt the need to start a new family. Maybe he missed seeing his two children a son who was four and a daughter who was three. Though he seemed bored of every visit with them. Laura agreed and the two had a little girl with hair as golden as her mother's and the same bright green eyes. As Emily grew older Laura reminded her daughter they were better than Brandon's old family and she was not to play with her half siblings when they did come to visit. And they visited as Brandon felt if he had to pay child support he wanted something to show for it - visitations. His other kids tried to be nice to Emily but Laura was always quick to pull them away. This came all the more true when the oldest Cai was sent to a "special school" in Scotland. Laura just knew that meant he was trouble and the girl Rhiannon was no doubt no better though she continued to attend more normal schools.

Cai Dyfodwg had been accepted to Hogwarts and kept his magic a secret between his mother Morgan and his sister Rhiannon. Still he noticed something just didn't quite seem... normal about his popular half sister Emily. He tried talking to her but Laura made sure that didn't happen. Nonetheless Cai was a fan of Aria League and secretly a fan of Nora Dashwood while being popular enough in his own right having been sorted into Gryffindor and doing quite well in his classes. Meanwhile the moment was to come when Emily's world of being the smartest girl in school and one of the most popular with an ordinary life would come crashing down around her. Her mother insisted on brushing and caring for Emily's hair every night and one night when she was nine she had tangles in her hair. Laura yanked the tangles hard and snapped as Emily winced, "Do not make me look bad."

After two more hard pulls Emily jerked away with tears in her eyes and said, "Mummy you're being mean... I... I don't like it."

Laura sat in shock that her usually so soft spoken (to her) Emily had rose against her. Standing she slapped Emily and said, "You do not talk back to me. You are a reflection of me and-"

"Maybe you'd leave me alone like Cai and Rhiannon if I didn't look so much like you! They're the lucky ones. You are mean!" Emily snapped and that was when it happened. Emily's hair of spun gold turned a bubblegum pink. Laura screamed and Brandon came running in to find the scene and that was when he revealed he had actually known all along the special school his son was attending. Morgan had told him hoping for answers though she got none from her ex-husband. For weeks Laura tried everything she could to "fix" Emily's hair but nothing could work. Defeated Laura found the best wigmaker and refused to let Emily out of the house without the blonde wig that matched Laura's (and once Emily's) hair.

Emily focused as much as she could on her studies knowing that she was bound at eleven to go to a "school for freaks" as Laura called it where she would be "a freak just like that boy."

SCHOOL YEARS
■ FIRST YEAR Emily spent the year torn between wanting not to be a part of a school of "freaks" and also wanting to be accepted as much as possible by her peers and professors. She even warmed to her half brother Cai who recommended her join the quidditch team. That among several clubs including Language Club where she was with Kasamir Patrovna (of Russia) who she met on the boat ride to Hogwarts.
■ SECOND YEAR While summer had been dreadful with her mother trying to hide anything showing Emily's "freakish" traits, Hogwarts was almost like a welcome hug. Maybe that was what Hufflepuff was about too. The Sorting Hat was supposed to be wise. She had asked for not being sorted with her half brother Cai (in Gryffindor) but in truth Hufflepuff fit her. She got the position she wanted on the quidditch team this year (keeper not chaser) and didn't do dreadful and she kept up with her clubs. She even began to like her pink hair. It made her stand out in a good way and it was a pretty pink no matter what her mother might say.
