Kat has always had boundless energy. Usually it’s put toward whatever project ze’s working on, but occasionally... well, chaos reigns. Luckily, it doesn’t take much to channel the energy in a positive direction.

Kat truly and deeply loves zer found family. Zer birthfamily abandoned zim, so ze worked to create a new one. And never does Kat let those wonderful humans forget just how much ze loves them all.

Being a Seer often means knowing what’s going to happen before it does. Such things can mess with the mind, creating loops of deja-vu. “Living in the moment” has no bearing at all on Kat, as the moments zey’re in range from near-future to way in the years ahead.

Living in the past, present, and future is a lot for anyone to juggle, but for Kat, it often means small things are left forgotten. Often zey’ll remember tasks far after they were supposed to be completed. Don’t expect homework back very quickly.

In life, you never know who’s got good intentions or bad thoughts. So, Kat decided just to always be nice to everyone. After all, it’s hard to hate someone always nice to you. Zey make sure to smile and greet everyone, on the thought that zey never know who’s having a bad day and needs a little love.

Living in a state of near-constant deja-vu, Kat often wonders if zey’re in the present, future, or even some weird dream. It makes for anxiety, constantly living on the edge. Zey never know where they’re at in life’s timeline, and it honestly freaks zem the heck out.

Katherine Shelby was born to Jane and Ethan Sutton on a dark and stormy autumn night. It didn’t take long before they realized their sweet daughter inherited traits from Jane’s mother, a Seer of dark and terrible visions. They knew, of course, that Seers could see positivities, but after the third weird vision of tremendous negativity (first Ethan losing his job, then Jane falling down a set of stairs, then a small car accident that cost a ton to repair), they started to believe Katherine was full of dark energy.
Katherine was sent to live with her grandmother, Endora Faye. Despite being half blind and a little unsteady, Endora truly loved her granddaughter. She taught Katherine the ways of divining the future, from tarot and crystal balls to tea leaves and palmistry. It was another stormy night that she predicted the uprising of a grandson. Neither knew what it meant, since Katherine was her only grandchild, and Jane was unable to beget more children.

Katherine left home to venture off to school, where they were sorted into Hufflepuff. She never really understood her sorting, but did go on to make lots of friends in school. It wasn’t until fourth year that she.... figured out that she wasn’t a she, per se. She wasn’t really sure what she was, but all of the sudden, dresses and skirts just felt so wrong.
After lots of research, and a few more fortunes from Granna, Katherine decided to officially become Kathir. No longer female, but a shift toward masculinity. Granna even helped get medication to help prevent further female puberty, and slowly introduce masculine hormones. Though male pronouns didn’t quite fit either. Kat decided zey would try all of them until one felt right. Luckily, friends were supportive of the endeavor.

By the time Kat graduated, zey were officially no longer a female. Zey changed their name legally, and set off to work. Zey worked as a shop hand in a few different stores, never finding what was perfect. That was, until, one day, zey saw a note that Hogwarts needed a new Divination Professor. As if on impulse, Zey hurried in to apply, using their gift of Seeing to secure the job.
As zey hurried home to tell Gramma Endora, Kat was cursed to discover her still form, passed away in her favorite recliner, a messy knit project in her lap. Using connections from a few friends, Zey were able to release Endora’s spirit to the afterlife. When her will was discovered, Kat was shocked and delighted to see zer Granna had left the house to zem. The shop, not so much, but Kat carefully packed everything up, hoping to bring a piece of zer Granna to Hogwarts with zem.
