Any info you want to share about this character (Personality, temperament, backstory, etc.): on first google, the summary of his personality is "Mettaton is a confident, charismatic, and charming TV host that loves drama, action, and violence. He lives for his ratings and adores performing." He comes off as rather full of himself, very dramatic, and on the cruel side- however we also come to learn in the game that he loves humans, was once a ghost who wished he could be a human, and may have been upping his "villain" factor to make his friend, Alphys, look good. It's also been hinted that as a ghost he may have been a female ghost who took up a male robot body. His gender has often been a debate, though he is canonically male, he seems a bit fluid and happily wears dresses, plays traditionally feminine roles such as princess' etc. Dude is basically a lgbtqia+ anime loving theatre kid who was given a villain role and a TV show and went wild with it. Atleast, this is my understanding of him. Fanon and Canon are always different. Either way, he's a five of mine which means he probably belongs in a dumpster for behaving ratty.
