Born in Boston Massachusetts, Jackson Monroe attended The Salem Witches' Institute as a member of the Lynx house. He graduated at the top of his class and went on to become an Auror with the American Ministry. He became head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement for a brief time before moving to England. He joined the Ministry of Magic becoming part of the Misuse of Muggle Artefacts Division until he was offered the position of Defense Against the Dark Arts Professor.
The office situated above the Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom has had many occupants and each time seems to take on a bit of the professor's personality. Professor Jack Monroe's office is currently decorated to his personal taste. Unlike the classroom below, the office is small and cozy. One wall has a large fireplace and most of the rest are filled with books. He'll never admit it, but they're mostly for aesthetics. He's read maybe four of them. The focal point of the office is his desk which is filled with photos, mostly of him and his wife Isla, but there are a few with his parents, and one of him and Isla's family. There are two squashy armchairs in front of the desk for any meetings he may have.
