Hello, everyone. CrystBalfast here of the Mermaid Princess RP Guild!

Here is a PSA about the characters explaining about Remote Control and Couch Potatoes.

This is for those who are unfamiliar with the TV Show that ran in 1987, Remote Control is one of MTV Networks' Basement Themed Shows long before the Angry Video Game Nerd hit YouTube.
And as a Bonus, we'll talk about Hasbro's first entry into TV Games starting with Couch Potatoes in 1989

Sea Amethyst, you're wondering why is the Player's Room Basement designed like an After School Party in a way... Well, its got an audience, set, players, host & hostess, so its one of those oddity Games. Thadon said to the viewers

Audience: WHEEL... OF... FORTUNE!!!

We already talked about Wheel of Fortune Daytime! WRONG GAME, AUDIENCE!!! CUT!!! CUT!!! Thadon said to the viewers... The scene cuts to the "Please Stand By" screen.

*Remote Control - Gameplay*
Sea Amethyst, Remote Control is played with 3 players that are seated in oversized leather chairs that answer General Knowledge Questions. Next to the Host is a Big Screen TV with 9 Channel Lights being categories. The player would chose the Category by selecting it on their keypads on their podiums.

Each of the Categories have 3 Questions each worth $5, $10 & $15. A player with the correct answer earns them the points and control of the Big Screen TV Game Board where the player can stay on the channel for more scoring to switch to another channel.

And Yes, one Channel on Remote Control is the MTV Channel which sounds like a Music and Entertainment Category in a way. Other Channels such as Home Shopping reduces a player's score but gave them a prize.

There are different types of Questions too. In Season 1, there was the Snack Break which gives the player a shot to win a Great Prize by picking from 3 Different Refrigerators somewhat like the Big Deal in Let's Make a Deal.

In Round 2, the value of the questions were doubled to $10, $20 & $30. However, one channel has a hazard called "Off the Air" and if a player lands on it (In the Actual show, the Big Screen TV sometimes goes Off the Air), where the player with the lowest score is eliminated from Gameplay by being pulled away through the breakaway wall. Gameplay continues when the second round ends and the Second Place player is removed from gameplay leaving only the winning player.
In short, the player with the highest score after 2 rounds wins the game. Thadon said to the viewers and to Daphne

*Remote Control - Endgame 1*
Sea Amethyst, Remote Control had various endgames for the Bonus Round...
Version 1 of the Remote Control Bonus Round, the Champion lies down on a couch as he or she looks at 9 TVs and name the image shown (The Actual show had Music Artists to Identify). However, some of the screens had distortion effects making it hard to identify each correct one was worth a Prize and should the Player get all 9, they win the Grand Prize. *Remote Control - Version 2*
Sea Amethyst, Remote Control Season 2 made some refinements as the Snack Break contained drinks and food which are given toward the players after the first round.
After the Third Place Player was eliminated, the winner was decided by means of a Lightning Round where the players answered General Knowledge Questions (Blooper Reel Titles in the Actual Show with one Word Changed & they would need to correct it). Correct answers in the Lightning Round were worth $10 and the Second Place Player was still eliminated from Gameplay. Thadon said to the viewers and to Daphne

*Remote Control - Visuals*
Welcome, Daphne. *To Viewers* This is Mermaid Daphne from the same RP Guild.
Sea Amethyst, Remote Control 's design have a parody motif like a Skit taken from SNL on NBC. However, this was intentional as its set took place in a basement turned into High School or College Party Dorm.
For the Host to be shown to be a Remote Control Freak, he has a series of photos of Hosts, Past & Present behind his podium. He also got a giant Pez Dispenser that's used for Toss Up Questions & Tiebreaker Questions if needed.

The Set Design was also used for the Road Shows as part of MTV's Spring Break Yearly Events. Instead of a Big Screen TV, a line up of Tropical Fashion Models posed as the 9 Channels. By 1992, MTV had one of the biggest events yet with Remote Control called Remote Control At Your House where the winner is visited by the cast and crew of Remote Control to tape and play a Full Game of Remote Control! Thadon said to the viewers and to Tecna & Daphne

*Remote Control - Host*
The Residing Host of MTV Remote Control was Ken Ober, a former Comedian who lost to another Comedian Sinbad.
He had Bob Hubaks appear once on MTV Remote Control and took over a Lightning Round in one Episode.

*Remote Control - Special Channels*
During the Gameplay of Remote Control, Special Channels were sometimes used some of which had parodies of other TV Games as one question was asked and a right answer was worth $10.
Some of these Unknown People got their big break into fame during that time such as Adam Sandler.

*Remote Control - Endgame Version 2*
Version 2 of the Bonus Game for Remote Control had the player strapped to a swivel table surrounded by TVs with the Player's head acting as a pointer called the "Wheel of Jeopardy".
Each question was asked and the monitor was lit up when correct awarding a prize to the player.. That Monitor became a Grand Prize monitor which increased the player's odds of taking home the Grand Prize should the player's head be pointing at it.

*Remote Control - Endgame Version 3*
Version 3 of the Bonus Game for Remote Control had the player strapped to a swivel card table but with 2 TVs above and below the player with the same as before each answer awards a prize & all 9 gets the Grand Prize.
Sadly, Remote Control's Nighttime Version was cut down in its prime in 1989 with the MTV Version following in 1990.
But wait, there's more!
Saban Entertainment decided to take the helm with a toned down version...

Well, I guess that should do it... I thought there was a kids show version of this game... Hang on... Thadon looks into the file cabinet and finds a folder labeled Couch Potatoes
As you can see, it shows Couch Potatoes as a TV Game and these two sound alike in a way but with differences. Okay... So why don't we talk about Saban's First & Only TV Game before they found success with Power Rangers. Thadon said to the girls.


Well... Knowing the Narrator's love for Arcade games... Street Fighter 2 is to Super Street Fighter 2. Since Remote Control had 5 Seasons on MTV Networks, I mean how can this game turn out?
